Our last moving experience was very unpleasant so I was anxious when selecting a new mover for our recent, in-town move. However, I could not have been happier with our experience with Hewes Family Movers. They sent three packers to pack our kitchen and approximately 5 closets. The packers were very efficient and got more done in 3 hours that I expected. They were careful with all of our things and took care to let me know if a dish was chipped (by us) before they packaged it up. Now that I have unpacked most of the kitchen I am happy to see that nothing they packed was damaged in the move. Mr. Hewes provided us with 5 movers and 2 moving trucks on the day of the move. This was after he did an in-home estimate and was able to see what we had to move from our 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath rental property. We agreed that having more movers present would make the day go faster and, in the end, save us some money. All of the movers were friendly, professional, and careful with our things. They seemed to all be friends outside of work and worked well with one another. They were also patient with us, as my husband and I were still trying to pack up a few final things and keep our toddler out of the way on the day of the move. They loaded and unloaded the truck quickly and efficiently and we willing to move things around in our new place to make sure they were where we wanted them. After starting around 8:30 am, we were completely moved by 4:30 pm. Nothing was damaged in the move and we experienced very little, if any, stress on moving day. We are very grateful to this company and highly recommend them to others.
Description of Work: Hewes Family Movers packed our kitchen and our closets in preparation for a move to a new home. The next day a moving team of 5 men and 2 trucks moved our things (filling a 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath house) to our new home.

They showed up right on time, disassembled the bookcase, secured it on their truck. They loaded the boxes of books and followed us to the destination. They had to carry the two bookcase sections some distance because of parking problems in the city. They reassembled the bookcase. All went well.
Description of Work: Hewes moved a large bookcase and boxes of books for our nonprofit organization. The move was about 5 miles in the city of Atlanta.

Preston and his team of 9 workers did an amazing job.! Everyone was so friendly and so well mannered. I can't believe people can actually do this job for a living and be so pleasant in the process. It was more than we wanted to pay but well worth every penny. Movers took great care of our personal items and we would highly recommend them in the future to anyone!

Hewes Family Movers did an excellent job from start to finish. They were on time. They were very careful with our stuff. They were very professional and personable. They went out of their way to make sure we were happy with the job, and charged us exactly what they said they would. I could not have been happier with these movers.
Description of Work: Hewes Family Movers moved mostly large items like full sized bunk beds, a bookcase, mattresses, box springs, a large desk and credenza, tool cases, large saw, a sofa, and other items from one residence to another. They set up the beds and moved the furniture where we wanted it.

It went so well I still can't believe it. The packing service was worth every penny. The movers were quick and careful. Their final amount due was within $70 of the original quote which I was quite pleased with. They were willing to move anything we found to be in the wrong room in the new place. By far, the best moving experience I've been through.
Description of Work: They did an onsite visit to prepare the quote. They packed us on Saturday and moved us on Sunday, from an 1100 sq foot loft into a house.

They were supposed to come out to my place to give me a quote. First they cancelled the 9/11 appointment on 9/11 and supposed to call me next day to reschedule. I did not get that call on 9/12 and they call back only after I left a voice mail on 9/13. If I cannot count on them to punctual and responsive before I hired them, how can I trust them to be punctual and responsive on the moving date?

Response from Hewes Family Movers
From Bill Hewes - the Owner - This customer was not planning to move until November. I had something come up and called to request we move our meeting. We had about a month and a half before the move and I had a bit of an urgent matter I wanted to attend to. I left a message that morning for our meeting that was scheduled for 7 PM that evening. I did fail to call back the following day (this is quite rare as running this company has forced me to become quite organized). With our policies that take care of and assure our customers, we sometimes have to be concerned about customers that may take advantage or otherwise do damage to this company. Our second phone call with this customer was not going well at all. I actually decided to respectfully request that this customer find another moving company. I truly felt I had bumped into one of those rare customers that we were not going to be able to make happy - no matter what we did. I felt bad about this decision but felt it was the best way to handle this situation. I do wish to appologise to Member that this did not work out.

I contacted Bill Hewes about 2 months prior to our moves. He was a very polite, sincere, and knowledgable person. He gained my confidence from the on set and never failed me in our emails, conversations and finally on the services his team provided. On the first move Matt and Allen arrived on time at our house. They looked over the items to be moved and began right away to load the truck. As if completing a 3D puzzle they carefully placed and positioned items so that all usable space in the truck was filled. Sardines in a can had more room then our possessions in the trucks. On the second move Matt returned with Blake. Once again they forged ahead to assess and load the truck. The second trip was a more difficult load then the first. On the second load I had shop tools, yard tools and outdoor furniture and decorations that needed to be loaded. Nothing fit together well. As we neared the 2/3 point in loading the truck it was apparent that everything was not going to get loaded. After consultation they unloaded a portion of the truck and repositioned items to increase space efficency and we were able to just barely get it all on to complete the move as required. Both teams listened to my needs and provided answers and solutions as needed to assuage the customer. On both moves, upon arrival and after unloading at our new home in the Denver area we found no damage to any of our items.
Description of Work: Hewes Family Movers loaded 2 26' U-Haul trucks for me, first on 07/31/2012 and again on 08/13/2012. My wife and I had already wrapped all of the furniture and boxed all of the other items, so the movers provided only loading services.Bill did not require any up front payments and said we would pay only when the job was completed and we were 100% satisfied.

Bill Hewes strives hard to please his customer and provide quality service. He & his team were very pleasant to work with during this job. He came to my condo in person to provide an estimate of packing and moving costs after viewing my place and belongings. My complaint was that Bill misjudged the amount of time to pack, load and unload the truck in a manner that incovenienced me and my father. The day before my scheduled move, 2 of the packers originally assigned to come to my place were pulled to a 'bigger' job. The day of my move, one of the packers/movers had a spouse hospitalized (no one's fault, just bad timing; this could not have been anticipated) so he was only present for a couple of hours. The workers including Bill arrived about 20 min late the morning of the move (rather than getting an earlier start since we had fewer workers). My father and I helped pack as a result to compensate for the missing workers. The truck was ultimately ready to leave Atlanta over 5 hours later than originally planned. It was full and thus unable to carry about 3-4 of my final boxes that I had to leave in Atlanta and bring myself on a subsequent trip. With this 5 hour delay, my father and I didn't arrive in Charleston until 2am. One of the inflatable mattresses I brought to sleep on (as the truck had all my furniture) required batteries. Since it was 2am rather than 9pm, I didn't have the same opportunities to run to a store for batteries so instead I slept directly on the floor. Bill & his helper arrived 20min late again the following morning. It was really a 3 person job, not a 2 person job as Bill had originally judged. (Another moving company that provided a more expensive estimate suggested 3 movers to unload the truck in Charleston after viewing my belongings.) My father helped to unload the truck for 8 hours while I unpacked boxes, and then I helped unload the truck for 3 hours. We still finished almost 2 hours later than originally proposed. Bill & the other employee preferred to hand-carry all items up 4 flights of stairs (direct route) rather than using a dolley and the elevator on site (required a slight detour). Personally I believe this decreased their overall efficiency and fatigued them. (While 1 dolley trip would take longer than 1 hand-carry trip, you could bring the equivalent of 2-3 hand-carry trips on the dolley at 1 time.) My father & I were completely exhausted the following day--too tired to really unpack and definitely too tired to drive back to Atlanta as originally planned. We slept most of the day and the returned to Atlanta the following day. Overall, my belongings did make it to SC without damage or missing items. It was just not done in an efficient manner and it required a lot of work from me and my father (which I wasn't expecting since I was paying someone else to do this for me).
Description of Work: Packing my 2 bedroom condo in Atlanta and moving to Charleston, SC.

Response from Hewes Family Movers
From Bill Hewes the owner - I will be as quick as possible – I invite the reader to call if there are still questions. I was a full time teacher and worked on weekends for an Atlanta mover for years. I started this company with a very good friend and family with the knowledge and ideas of what I felt I would do differently if I owned a moving service. A difference in this situation is that we do not hire help at our destination. We have carried our men all the way to California so we would not have to hire help at our destination. I don't pay our men like other moving companies. We pick up food, nice hotels, and generous pay for long distance trips. We have to balance this with trying to stay competitive (sending just enough men and vehicles) and then we give a guaranteed price for long distance moves. I did misjudge how much this customer was moving. There were a couple factors that threw me off. This was a single person in a two bedroom apartment. There was an additional pick up stop that was explained to me before hand but was also a little more than I imagined. It is super rare that we can not move a single person in one truck. We arrived with a truck that would hold a little more than any rental companies largest truck (26 foot). We already had another cargo van reserved when I realized during loading that everything might not fit. Compounding this miscalculation was that this customer was on a 3rd floor – no elevator (more than I calculated aggravated by 2.5 flights of stairs). When local we usually send more people to help when a job is dragging. I just did not realize how long and slowly things were progressing. For a while now we have been telling our guys – call for help if loading is taking 3 to 4 hours. Our goal is to keep local moves between 6 and 8 hours plus the travel time. By the way, my record goof was when we had to send another man and truck to New Orleans. When this kind of thing happens there is no extra cost to our customer. Our long distance price is guaranteed – period. Unload proved to be another surprise. It has been months since this move so I can not exactly remember the description of the new home given by the customer. I really was not picturing having to park the truck over a football field away. I had been warned we would have a choice of stairs or an elevator. We would have taken the elevator had the customer requested. Using the elevator made no sense to me and my guy. There were too many transitions for a dolly to work efficiently. Taking the elevator would have required to carry everything away from our destination and into a separate building. Go through doors and then deal with the elevator. Come out the other side of the building (more doors) and then walk back toward our destination. The outside rout with stairs was shorter and I am sure much quicker. Not to mention that from the start we had the lady at the front desk of the first building having problems with where we were parking to where we were setting equipment (she was truly looking for problems – we did not want to be in the building). Our last surprise challenge was that all of the bed rooms were upstairs accessed by a spiral stair case. I really thought we impressed the customer that we were able to get the large armoire up those stairs. I really think a lot of moving companies would have declined to attempt it. As for the father who helped us. We really enjoyed him. I had a grandmother who cut her grass until she was 87 (not that this gentleman was anywhere near this age). I would have dared anyone to try to take my grandmothers' lawn mower away. I have a goal to be a successful school teacher past 90. We did not request any help from our customer's father but I was not about to tell him to “put down the box”. I was under the impression that he really wanted to be a part of the move. I guess my point is – I am doing my best to provide the best service. I am sorry that this customer had complaints. The loading time was truly my fault. I don't sleep well after I open a bad review. I am trying to get as close as we can to perfection. We have limitations and a balance that must ensue. Yes I goofed in not sending enough folks to pack and load and then did not realize into the loading I should have called for help. Had it been a normal unload at our out of state destination 2 men would have been plenty of man power to unload in a reasonable amount of time. After the unload we delivered a large piece of furniture for a friend or relative that came up at the end of the move at no extra cost. To mention the balance thing again – I can't get the guys to every job 30 minutes early. For a while now we allow our men 30 minutes to stop before they reach a home (for snacks - restroom). In addition we allow another 15 minutes for traffic or whatever. We then add the time that Map-quest says it will take to get to your home. The guys know to call if they are going to be over 5 minutes late. I can not remember if that truck left late to load this customer. I can tell you that I remember getting out of that hotel with plenty of time to arrive at the customer's new home on time. That being said I respectfully request: if you are going to be upset if we are late (and it is not often and if I had to bet on a moving company to be on time it would be my company) - and knowing we are doing everything reasonable to arrive on time - I respectfully request you call a different mover.

Not really all that amazing, and it was a pretty horrible day for everyone involved. Some of the blame needs to be on us and the weather, but I don't believe Hewes was really able to cope with the challenges very well. We've never used a mover before, as most of our moves have been much smaller. But after 15 years in our old house, we had a LOT of stuff. Even after culling the hoard, there were many hundreds of boxes, and large odds and ends that did not fit in boxes. It required two or three calls to connect with Bill Hewes to get him to come out and perform an estimate to move us to a new home 30 minutes away. This was made difficult as we have a lot of stuff and a few unusual items. After some reworking, the estimate was for 3 trucks, 8 people, and 7 hours for the move. This included crating a large painting, picking up boxes from a 10' x20' storage unit near the target house, and returning to the original house with a dishwasher. The estimate was $1890, with any time over billed at 1/2 the normal rate. We went WAY over that. Arrivals:Hewes uses large passenger vans each towing 20-24 foot trailers instead of the classic moving trucks. This is potentially great as they not only hold more than a typical moving van, but the passenger vans allow for more delicate and unusual items to be moved in a separate container. They presented some fairly severe challenges with our move, however. The first two vans showed up about 15 minutes late. We walked them through the house, showing them the hoard, but they looked somewhat lost and confused. Things cleared up when the crew chief (Alan) turned up about 30 minutes later after a harrowing encounter with the Georgia State Patrol. (I believe it was 68 in a 55 zone.) And they began to load stuff. This took a surprisingly long time, as they finished loading the three trailers about 5:00....8 hours into the move. Things went relatively slowly with a lot of horsing around, as the bulk of the crew were early 20's guys. Alan assured me that unloading takes much less time than loading. Appliances: As to the appliances, they wanted to move the washer without securing the drum with travel bolts. (These travel bolts were left inside the machine when it was slid against the wall at the arrival house. Mercifully, we did not turn the washer on before checking if they were bright enough to remove them. The dishwasher baffled them. The one person who had moved a dishwasher before was baffled by the hardwired appliance. He suggested cutting the house wiring close to the wall, which would have ended up with us likely having an electrician have to rerun the cable. We told them to ignore the dishwasher, as they weren't really equipped to deal with it. (They tried to hook up the dryer on the other side, but the flex vent and the in wall really didn't match. They tried to force fit two bits and ended up maiming part of the flexible vent in the wall. ) They turned up at the new house after dinner to unload the small quantity of stuff in the third trailer so that it could go off and pick up the boxes at the nearby storage unit. The trailers BARELY fit in the new curvy driveway, and perhaps 2 hours were spent trying to carefully manipulate the trailers to get them even parked. Another 1.5 hours were lost to periodic showers. And the unloading got sloppier as everyone was just too tired to function. As there are 6 doors on the new house, a lot of boxes ended up in various places. Even the ones that made it to the correct room were frantically piled scattered throughout the room. This caused problems so that we had to go through and restack boxes to make more space, which made it harder to steer the 8-man horde. This was made worse by the crew chief going off away from the bulk of the crew to load the third trailer, which meant that the other 6 did not have the first trailer unloaded two hours later. The third trailer from the storage unit was finally in position about 12:30AM. Unfortunately, most of the boxes in it were destined for my game room at the far end of the house. At that point, we said screw it, dump them in the garage. And the the final tally: 13.5 hours of moving + a slightly reduced fee for the 1.5 hours of rain. As it turns out, Bill's original estimate was based on the wrong rate for the trucks and people, so there was a bit of juggling and discussion of the final rates. Final total was about $3050, roughly $1200 over the estimate. And we'll still need to slowly clear our garage, swap the dishwashers, and try to reorganize the whirlwind of boxes. I think the last trailer finally made it out of the driveway after 1:30AM, which means the move had been going for 16 hours. Damaged and missing items:Very little, but I feel like we dodged a couple of bullets. One Hall Tree (which is not designed to be freestanding, but rather leaned against a wall) was in the driveway, caught by the wind, and knocked flat on the back, tearing out the mirror. Somehow, the etched glass did not break or crack. (Bill came out and restapled the backing and glass into place. ) One of the trailers leaked, which poured water onto two or three boxes, which were drenched. Most contained resin or metal items. One contained a wooden musical instrument whose bubble wrap saved it from damage. We were missing the bag of assembly hardware for a mass of ikea shelving in the sewing room. This took awhile to replace, and Hewes finally found it on their "warehouse of similar bags of parts". (This implies that such is a common thing. In fact, the first bag Bill brought was someone's else's misplaced bag of bits. ) Given that boxes are scattered among rooms, and that the trailers were mostly unloaded long after sunset we aren't entirely sure if anything else is missing, misplaced, or we haven't come across it yet during our lengthy unpacking--and that uncertainty is stressing us out. While not a total horror story, it was a massively stressful and pretty awful day. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update and response to Bill's comments: A: We did not receive a call about the rain beforehand. I spoke with Chris on Monday to verify. There was no real reason to call beforehand, as the forecast for rain was for the evening. And in fact, I think the rain started around 8:00PM, and according to the estimate, we should have been long done by then. B: For the Ikea bits, your guys took apart the shelves. We found some oversized Ziplock bags under the kitchen counter to store them. The horsing around was a combination of early 20's guys, got obviously worse after having to stop every half hour for rain. But there are a group of guys painting and renovating the house right now who are terrifyingly diligent and working as a very closely knit crew. Your guys didn't pull off that level of professionalism, although I'd have a beer with pretty much anyone in the crew.

Response from Hewes Family Movers
I am very sorry that this was not an A experience. I am quite upset to find there are some things my crew failed to do correctly. We do back up our moves with no payment until we finish and our customer is happy with our work guarantee. I was not aware that this was not an A move until we received this report. The vehicle that leaked was brand new. We check these every time we wash them (about once a week ). These vehicles hold more than a typical 26 foot moving truck and have many advantages. There is a picture and description of one on our website. This vehicle had been washed since we had it and I am wondering because of the newness we may have not been as thorough as we usually are checking for leaks. Leaks are quite rare in these and have only happened because we ran one under a tree and we then know to check it (and now in this case we now know it can come from the factory with an issue). I am so thankful the customer was so detailed with the characteristics of this move. I think he clearly showed the challenges he offered us. As we started running late into the evening we should have had many more people arriving at least by early afternoon. I think the crew leaders were thinking the unload was going to go a lot more quickly. On the date of this move we had showers hit off and on in the afternoon. Unless there is a greater than 50% chance of rain - and we called the day before to warn you - we do not charge when we are sitting and waiting for rain. If our customer wants us to move them on a day forecast for better then 50% chance of rain we only charge $10 per hour per person for "wait time". We have zip lock bags as well as painters tape for lose items. Our men are to attached these to or place in the furniture the items or parts belong to. It is very rare that we lose small items like this. It is my understanding that the customer had removed these small items and it was in a bag separate from the furniture it belonged to. We initially offered that we would order the new parts that were missing or replace the complete set of furniture if that is what it took to get the problem resolved. As for the hall tree - that was a big goof on my guys part. We did get this item repaired and we were very lucky the mirror in this did not break. If it had we would have found a replacement glass or had replaced the entire pace of furniture. If there is something unusual like uninstalling and installing dishwashers - we have people we can send out who are very experienced. Certainly our guy who did not know should not have been suggesting cutting wires. I am wondering if this escaped the crew leaders attention as a phone call should have been made to the office. Also, our men that were there should have installed the transport bolts to the washer. My thought on how this was missed was that they were not aware that transport bolts were inside the washer and of course they should have looked as well as asked. Many of our customers do not keep up with these and we still move the washer taking responsibility if there is a problem at the other end. (for those of you who don't have HE washers - they come with transport bolts that you should keep for moving day). Had this become a larger issue we would have taken care of the damages. We have crews that make moving enjoyable. This is the first I have heard of "horsing around". We track who went on what move and if there is an issue here I don't think you will see it again on any other reviews. Our men are paid very well and we expect excellence. This company used to just be my family and a good friend along with 2 trucks. We then grew from a circle of friends we knew as well as some local fire men. Now we are hiring folks from from the circle of friends who brought friends. we have the normal screen of drug, background as well as references. We go a step further in simply making sure our folks have a friendly and caring attitude. We have had people apply to work with us that my wife said "I just did not feel comfortable around him". If we would not be comfortable with our guys in our home - they won't be in yours. For the first 3 years of operating this company I was on over 90% of our moves. I am now on less than 10%. Now in our 6th year I still want to be on the trucks as they leave but can't with all of the things that go on running a company with 5 moving vehicles. I can still always be reached directly at the other end of our business phone number. I want to know if there is any sort of problem and I do believe I can make a resolve that makes you feel glad you called us to be your movers.

Due a scheduling snafu, the Hewes family had to actually drive to Athens from Atlanta and rent a truck there. They worked overtime to load the truck and drive it to Atlanta, and they refused to charge me for the overtime, or even for the actual time this move took them. They moved quickly and were extremely pleasant to deal with.
Description of Work: This company bent over backwards to help me move my son's furniture, and I'm pretty sure they suffered a loss in the process. They could not have been friendlier or more professional, and they did an outstanding job moving difficult items such as drum sets and musical instruments. I can't say enough good things about them, and will definitely use their services again.

They came right in and got started immediately. They did not slow there pace during the entire move. They were friendly and efficient. The price was really competitive when compared to other companies and I had them the full day. I will surely use this company again in the future.

I talked to three companies with high ratings on Angie's List. I chose Hewes for the following reasons. First, I was impressed that a company representative came to my house and looked over what needed to be moved and give me a quote on the spot. The quote was based on the side of the trailer needed for the move and the wardrobe boxes required. With one of the other companies I looked at, I was supposed to fill out an online form that estimated the volume of items to be moved. Another company wanted the same volume information on their online form plus the number of steps in the house I was moving from and the number of steps at the house I was moving to. Note, there were additional charges for the steps. This was important to me since I moved from a two-storied house with stairs up the walk way to a raised beach house siting 10 ft off the ground. Second, I needed my tools and such moved to one location and the furniture moved to another, the two locations being 5 miles apart. The answer I got was that would not be a problem. No extra charge. Third, the two other companies give me ballpark estimates but would only quote me after I completed their online forms. Their ballpark numbers were higher than Hewes but not by a lot, certainly not enough to chose one company over another. For me, the only discriminant, was the additional services provided at no additional charges. I was very satisfied with the move.

Owner of moving company came the day after I called to perform a detailed estimate. He provided the estimate in person before he left the house, enabling a quick decision. The packing and moving team showed up and got right to work. They packed one house and loaded the stuff into a truck, then went to the other house. They packed and loaded the other house, then unloaded the stuff from the first house. At the end of the day they unloaded the stuff from the second house back at the first house. Everything was handled very carefully and the team worked quite efficiently all day. Both homeowners were happy with the results at the end of the day.
Description of Work: Moved two houses in one day. Movers packed everything in each house, loaded, transported and unloaded very competently. Price at the end made every effort to stick with original estimate, even though some additional time was required. Both ladies who were moving were very happy at the end to the day.

The move went great. We had a bit of nasty weather which slowed us down on the first day, but overall they were very efficient and quite easy to deal with.

This company was excellent in EVERY regard. They were punctual, arriving approximately 15 minutes early, and only improved from there. They were courteous and professional, handled my furniture with extreme care, were cheerful throughout, and even disposed of furniture I was otherwise gong to have to find a way to take to the landfill, saving me time and money. I can't recommend them highly enough.

From my initial telephone contact with Bill Hewes, this company was responsive in every way. Chris personally came to the house and gave me an estimate on packing and moving all my belongings. My move date wasn't definite at the time of the estimate and everyone was flexible regarding the actual date when the time arrived. From the time of estimate to actual move date was about 45 days. The packers arrived the day before the actual move and took great care in packing everything. The move crew arrived early the following day and I was in my new house that evening by 10:00 PM. Everyone involved in my move provided service above and beyond and showed great kindness. All of my belongings arrived intact and without a scratch, and the price was exactly as estimated. I highly recommend this company to anyone who wants a carefree move. Thank you Bill and crew!!

Hewes Family Movers is a top-notch company. I've personally moved over a dozen times as an adult and this one of the best experiences I've had. When I called several companies for estimates, they were the only ones who would come to my house and actually look at what was needed. They gave me an estimate on the spot and did not require a deposit or other binding commitment. Their price was not the lowest quoted, but given that they took the time to come and see what was needed, I felt like their was the most accurate estimate (the final cost was within ($40 of the quote!). The packing team did an outstanding job of packing my belongings. I've only unpacked about half my things, but so far no breaks or damage to anything and you can tell they took the time to wrap fragile items with care. On moving day, five very nice and polite (and extremely hard working!) men came and loaded everything quickly and efficiently. When we got to the new house, they took their time loading in everything exactly how I wanted it with no damage to the walls, stairs, etc. There were a couple of my pieces that were difficult to navigate up the stairs and into the rooms where I wanted them, but they worked together to find a solutions and got them in! In the end, there were a few minor dings to a couple of my pieces. But when I pointed them out, they were immediately repaired. All in all, this was a great experience and I highly recommend Hewes to anyone looking for packers or movers.

When I was originally taking quotes for the move, Hewes was the only company that immediately sent an individual to our loft to do an on site assessment. Bill was punctual and friendly. He gave me a quote on site that was more competitive than the other 3 companies I had called. In addition, he did not make me put down a deposit or sign any papers but rather had a "good faith" agreement. On the day of the move, the team was punctual, quick and professional. They took very good care of our belongings. Nothing was damaged. They completed the job in less time that was estimated. Overall we were very pleased and would recommend Hewes Family Movers to anyone looking to move in this area..

Hewes was great from start to finish. First, we were honest with them about what we had in storage that needed to be moved to our new home so they were able to give us an accurate estimate over the phone. The actual cost of our move came in a little less than the estimate. They were punctual and even early. They were very polite and respectful young men and were very careful loading our belongings and pointed out anything in advance that had damage so we'd know they weren't responsible. In unloading they were equally careful of our belongings and also the brand new paint job in our house. Nary a bumped wall or paint nick. They put our things where we asked them to and adjusted it cheerfully if we asked. The overall experience with Hewes Family Movers was great. I hope we don't have to move again anytime soon but if we did, we'd definitely use Hewes and will recommend them to anyone who needs a mover.

The movers showed up on time and got right to work. They were polite and professional. and they worked hard. Things could not have gone any better. They finished right on time as estimated, everything was carefully packed, and there was no damage. They were happy and polite to the very end. What a fabulous experience!

I contacted Hewes as one of 3 moving companies listed on this site for estimates. Bill came out to the house and walked through with me while taking notes. We discussed all the variables. He completed the estimate there on site and provided me a written copy. After comparing the prices and the general conversation about the process, I decided to go with Hewes so I called and booked the time for Saturday. They were very flexible. The day arrived and the 5 guys showed up on time and ready to work. After brief introductions, things ran very smoothly for the next 4 hours of loading and 4 hours of moving things into the new house. No issues, no problems, just 5 friendly guys trying hard to please. After the work was done we did a final walk through of the new place and moved a couple pieces of furniture to locations I likely better and we were done. They made sure I was 100% satisfied before I made the final payment that was exactly what I expected to pay. Everything as planned... No surprises!

They were the nicest people in the world and they tried to be really careful with our belongings. They have a not greater than price policy. The second move turned out to be much bigger than they planned for. We asked them what a fair price would be and he gave us a fair price move which was higher than the previous not greater than price. We plan on using them again in the future.

We are very pleased with their service and their ability. They are very professional. I called them back for a small job as well and he was very helpful. They are very courteous, prompt and they did good work. They moved in good order with no problems. The price was very fair. In fact, it was better than a couple of the others that I checked.
