I paid for professionalism, labor and timely completion of a job given the tight time window of fair weather conditions that existed. I am satisfied with the job outcome. I paid $2,395 for the paint job/prep and related tasks. I paid $50 for the peep hole. I paid $95 for the repair of the lower base of the front entrance columns. The last three tasks were performed gratis. As he himself stated, Mr. Weatherby's name and reputation is on all the completed work. Mr. Weatherby likes to paint.
Description of Work: Exterior paint job for a brick veneer home. Remove dirt/mildew b4 painting. Recaulk all exterior window/door/garage door apertures where such caulk was broken. Paint fascia board, soffits, frieze board and trim, gutters, garage door frame, front entrance columns, wood frame on all window/door apertures and roof top chimney box. Install a peep hole on front entrance door. Repair the lower base of both front entrance columns. Fix an interior door that would not close/open properly. Perform a mini patch on a exterior side door and loose brick work. Firmly reattach two pair of exterior window shutter on brick veneer wall.

Description of Work: Installed a front door. The appointmentfor installation was canceled three times by the installer. I was very disappointed in the changing of the installation appointments. I wasn't sure if they were going to show up. Then the installers took the old door with them and had to bring it back three days later. The communication with their office was not good. She kept changing the installation date. It was very frustrating to coordinate the install date. The first time she overbooked, the second time their was an employee car wreck and the third time I was just told the appointment had to be delayed a couple of more days. The price was good, the install was fine, but the scheduling was a nightmare.

In preparation to sell our house we had a couple things that needed to be done to put our house on the market. After a failed attempt using another handyman we did some more research and decided to give the Ultimate Handyman a call. My husband contacted Nathan (the owner) so he could come take a look at the work we wanted done in order to give us an estimate. He wasn't able to make it out on the agreed upon time so he called to reschedule. He came out to look at the job we wanted done on March 13th. We explained what we wanted done and he told us what he would be able to do for the scratched wood floors in our formal dining room and our damaged kitchen cabinet. He also told us he would provide us an estimate the same day and that if we decided to go with him that he could begin on Monday. I thought it was a bit pricey but after reviewing our previous estimate we realized it wasn't that much more than the other handyman we tried working with. We contacted Nathan and told him that we would like him to do the work. He said they would begin on Monday. So we went out that weekend and bought the stain and paint so that they could get started. When I got home from work on Monday I found Nathan and his team hard at work, they had power washed most of the house and deck and were finishing up the fence. They had also painted our 1400 sq ft basement and were in the process of repairing the wood floor and cabinet. They even repaired a window stool in the formal dining room that I was going to do myself that weekend (at no cost). They were able to match some stain to the wood floor so that we didn't have to pull up or completely refinish our floors. They also were able to do the same thing to one of our kitchen cabinets that had some mild water damage. I didn't know at the time that they were going to paint the whole basement that day as there were some areas of drywall that I was still mudding and had to sand again before it would be paint ready. The painter ended up painting over these areas before he should have but when I pointed them out to him he said he would fix them all the next day when they came back to stain. His team returned Tuesday and sanded and remudded all the areas of drywall (even some extra spots that I didn't point out). They stained our deck and fence both which look great. His team will be coming back next week to finish our trim work after my husband and I get the concrete floor stained this weekend. Nathan was easy to get a hold of and stayed in communication with my husband via phone and text. He is on site with his team to supervise which is good. We will use them again if we need anything else.

He had to do an electrical readjustment of our six smoke alarms. He did an excellent job. He also power washed and painted the exterior of our house. He had a helper with him to do this job. He was very pleasant and personable. He did a few odd jobs too. The toilet paper holder in my bathroom was defective with a hole in the wall; he repaired that as well at no charge. He was so good at his job that we decided to have him come back to enclose our porch. He was very reasonable price-wise. He just charged me $2,670 for all the jobs; other businesses were going to charge over $3,000 for just painintg. He called in advance to let us know he was on his way. He charged by the job, not hourly. He is going to be our handyman; he does it all.

I called the providor on a Wednesday(?) about 6 weeks ago and he was on another job. He took my information and was to call me back at a better time. He called about 3-4 days later. I gave him a brief description of the project and asked that he come out to the house to review. He then asked if I could "take some pictures of the area to be repaired". I told him that might be possible but not that particular time. ( I had a serious injury to my knee which prevented me from going under house to take the pictures.) I suggested he would be better served if he came out himself and he responded that he was too wrapped up in his current project to do it at this time. I told him I would see what I could do and the call ended. After that point, I did not receive another call from him and did not make any further attempts to contact him. Based on the lack of responsiveness, I got the impression that either my work was too small a job or he just did not have to fit it in his schedule. Either way, I have no intention of using this contractor in the future. Just as an FYI, the work required was simply replacing portions of a single floor joist, 3 stringers off the joist along with about 65 Sq Feet of ceramic tilie replacement.
Description of Work: I requested estimate on repairs to underflooring structure. Described the issue and asked to be contacted. Have yet to receive a response. I sent second request today, 3/11/14.

He is a liar and a total jerk and I will never have anything to do with him again. He wanted me to use windows from Lowe's which were higher in price. This was going through the V.A. and he would not get paid until the job was completed. When I tried to contact him to see if he was still going to do the job and he hung up on me when I informed him that I did not want to purchase the windows from Lowe's. He wanted me to pay him an additional Twenty-two hundred dollars. After researching myself I found that the windows would be cheaper. Then he refused to speak to me and would only speak to my realtor and I was not comfortable with someone working on my home who would not speak with me. So I canceled the job with him and paid someone else to do the job. I would not recommend or use him again in the future.

Response from The Ultimate Handyman
“This review is frustrating to see considering the process that is involved with working with the VA. As a part of having work paid for by the VA in this scenario we are required to interact with the member, the VA, and the Realtor on various levels. The member was quoted an original amount for a specific type of window that was to be used in replacement of 12 windows throughout the house. These replacements also included other supplies and labor related to replacing window sills and retrofitting to the home. After the initial estimate appointment we submitted the proper pricing quote and paperwork to the VA and Realtor for approval. After this, the member requested a different window be used so we had to adjust our quote and explained to the member that there would be a cost difference to which they agreed. The member than changed their mind again and requested the original quote and window selected be used, to which we then had to re-adjust our quote and paperwork to the VA and Realtor. It was at this point in the process that the member threatened switching /using a different vendor to complete the job due to some of the delays and confusion this process had caused. We apologize that we had to communicate with other people other than the member as we prefer to keep communication lines simple too. Upon getting requests by the Realtor to continue providing these services and approval from the VA to proceed with what was originally quoted, we were then notified that the member chose another company to do the work. We did not provide any work or services other than an estimate and paperwork. We strive hard in giving quality service and fair pricing to all of our customers and when we actually provide services our customers usually leave satisfied, as you can see in our other positive reviews. If anyone has any questions about this or other reviews please feel free to call me directly. Sincerely, Nathan Weatherby, Owner”

Nathan was prompt and on time for giving the estimate and doing the work. He didn't give me a written estimate(which I prefer), but he did do what was verbally agreed to. He called me with any questions or any suggestions during the work. He suggested adding a couple more downspouts on my gutters which was needed. The painting and repair was done nicely and they cleaned up when finished. Nathan even mounted some new outside lights without charge.

Description of Work: Nathan responded promptly for my request for an estimate on replacing fascia boards that had rotted as well as repainting them and the shutters and exterior doors. He and his crew arrived promptly and went right to work. The first thing Nathan did was cut the cable wire and he had to replace that. The men went to work and replaced the fascia, repainted the outside trim, and painted the doors to match the shutters. He left very large brush strokes on the surface of the doors which are really unsightly. At the same time the crew from Ultimate Handyman was fixing the fascia, Nathan replaced two windows where the wood was rotted and one of the other men replaced the back storm door. I found out later that the windows had not been installed correctly and another company had to fix them. Since I had no previous knowledge of how to install windows and I was a recent widow at the time of the work, I had to accept what Nathan told me. This job was done basically to my satisfaction and I went on to have other work done in my house by this company. I still have ceramic tile that sounds hollow, messy grouting. In the process of removing porcelain tile from my bathroom floors, one of his men took off the corner of the countertop in the master bath with the sledge hammer. Nathan was going to repair it with caulking, his answer to everything, but I refused to allow that. He then called in one of his buddies and they replaced the countertop and Nathan said he was going to pay $100 of the charges which I doubt he ever did. They then broke the glass door on an old piece of furniture and their response was, "Oops!" Other things happened during the two weeks that they were at my house. He did send someone back to repair the tiles but they were never fully replaced. I would NEVER use this company again. It has been so long since this all happened that I cannot recall all the details. I was so upset for such a long time that I could not even talk about this company.

Mr. Weatherby is a seasoned handyman and excellent adviser for the homeowner. He advised me on the proper color and style of my roofing shingles to get the best look from my home. He was patient with me during my deliberation over choosing the roofing tiles. I went with his suggestion on style and color and I could not be happier! I love my new roof! My home looks nicer than ever and I have had several neighbors compliment me on the looks of my new roof.
Description of Work: The Ultimate Handyman/Nathan Weatherby provided roofing services for my home. He assisted me in choosing the best roofing tiles for my home and advised me on the appropriate color and style to accentuate my home's good looks. The job took about a week due to weather (we had high winds several days). The crew was courteous and cleaned up effectively afterward. I had new flashing replaced as well and part of my roof repaired from previous roof damage. All the roof work was done timely and with excellent craftsmanship.

This was all told in the previous section. Please refer to it. I am sorry to have to complain but overall the work was sloppy. Nathan did come when he said he would to give an estimate, to do the work, etc 10/9/2011 UPDATE: I have had to replace the toilet in my bathroom which Mr. Weatherby and his helpers moved from the hall bath in July or August. I noticed that it "rocked" on the wax ring that it was sitting on and finally it became very difficult to flush. Had a professional plumbing service take a look at it and they reported that it would have cracked sooner or later. The tank was too wide for the space available (due to a construction error made 18 years ago where the hole for the commode was cut too close to the wall) but Nathan "made" it fit which was also causing problems. I estimate that this cost me approximately $400 more dollars (you remember that I initially paid Nathan almost $7000 to do all these jobs for me) Also, Nathan replaced two windows for me. They were not sealed properly and one would not stay open. Also, one of the window sills was rotted clear through to the outside; I thought Nathan surely replaced the windowsill. No, he used the famous caulking trick to fill the hole, leaving rotted wood in the house. This wood rot was caused by shrubbery keeping it damp behind them - they were originally planted too close to the house but they have been gone for about 18 months now. I am now going to have to pay a professional window installation company $200 to repair what was not done at the initial installation. Nathan needs to learn to make an itemized statement for his services. My mistake was not insisting that he do one. He charged me all this $$ and I had to purchase the materials myself besides. The window company is furnishing the windows, hardware, etc. and it will cost me less than one of Nathan's unprofessional jobs. Please do not use this company for any of your work if you want it done correctly. I learned about this after the fact. I think he took advantage of the fact the my husband passed away in March and was not here to oversee things.
Description of Work: Owner came right away to give me an estimate on a job that was long overdue (rotten woodwork from moisture condensation). He gave me a date to perform the job which included replacing and painting fascia boards all over the house, painting shutters and exterior doors, installing 2 windows and 1 exterior door (entire frame due to rotted wood) and a storm door, painting trim on entire house. These jobs were performed in a timely fashion although the painting on the existing windows was sloppy and most of the windows are now painted shut. This job was done almost entirely to my satisfaction so I contracted to have Ultimate Handyman remove carpet in living room and hall and bathrooms (half carpet and half tile). Tile in bathroom was porcelain (why???? original contractor was operating without any building code so he did weird things in this house) and had to be removed with a sledge hammer. Pieces of the tile kept hitting the bathroom walls and making lots of holes in the paint - so much so that I have now had to have the two baths repainted AT MY EXPENSE. Also the fellow with sledgehammer broke the corner of the countertop in one bathroom which owner tried to repair with CAULK. After I wouldn't allow that, he called in someone to fix the vanity top saying he was going to pay for it. During the course of that transaction, I foolishly decided to let that man replace vanity tops in both baths and reface cabinets. This job was done satisfactorily but I do not believe Ultimate Handyman paid for the damage and that I was the one who paid for the damage they did to the vanity top. A big mess was made with the grouting of the tile and it was actually left on the new tile for me to clean up. During that process, I found 15 tiles that were not put down properly and when I contacted the owner, he said he would give me a contract stating that if any of the 15 tiles broke in the next 3 years they would replace them. He even wore combat boots to my house and stomped on them to prove how hard it would be to break the tiles in question! I refused and he had the installer replace the 15 tiles which made another mess in the house. Oh prior to the 15 tile replacement job, the owner himself came and took up and replaced 4 tiles right in the middle of the room leading to the hallway - main traffic pattern. Now I have found 3 more and just want to throw up my hands. Quick-set was added to the cement to adhere the tiles to the foundation and it dried too much before the tiles were actually laid was the reason given to me by the owner. The installer said that said owner was "rushing them" to get the job done. All in all, I feel that what I paid for these two jobs (over $7,000) should have resulted in almost perfect work which was not the case. I believe Nathan has done too many handyman jobs at his own house where he just left the mess for his wife to clean up. I am not his wife but a paying customer and should have gotten better work than this. Nathan is a very nice young man and I don't think he intended to leave me feeling that I had been cheated but he did and I will not use him for anything again nor will I recommend his company.

i called for a quote and he came right on over! He gave us the option to replace the molding or to patch it the best he could. Both quoted prices seemed reasonable, but we opted to just patch it. He also did a quick patched on another spot for us too. I called a month later about a carpet repair job that he was unable to fix so he gave me the name and number of someone who could help. I couldn't be more happier! I would highly recommend giving him a call and having him do your next home project!
Description of Work: I called and left a message on a Sunday night after 7:30. I received a phone call back from Nathan Monday morning shortly after 8. Nathan was very professional and responded to my request to visit my home, look over the work I needed done and give an estimate. He made arrangements to come later that afternoon. When he was running a few minutes late, he took the time to call and let me know instead of leaving me hanging around waiting. Once he arrived, he looked over what I needed/wanted done, asked a few questions and gave me an estimate. His pricing seems fair and resonable. He is a great guy to deal with. After giving me an estimate, I mentioned other items that i was going to be getting quotes on and he advised that he was able to assit in those areas as well. nathan is a true jack of all trades! He even suggested someone on a job that he could not do. Since I last updated, some of the work I needed done has been completed. Tito was absolutely wonderful. He came out on a Sunday and did some electrical work, put up storm doors, took out my old drop in stove and even had to readjust my cabinets in order to make the new slide in stove fit. This was a problem we did not expect to encounter, however Tito was well equipped to handle the job! He even cleaned up and hauled my trash off too! I have been 150% satisfied with the work performed and am excited as they are coming back tomorrow to do more work! I would recommend Nathan and his crew to anyone! Since my first report, they have been back out to my house for additional jobs. They pressure washed my house, painted the trim and put up a fence and cut down a tree. I have been very satisfied with their work and would/have recommended them to anyone I know.
