The work was done well, all was successful, workers very professional.

They were prompt, professional and did what they said they were going to do.

The guys that arrived were professional and went about their work quickly. Within minutes, they told us that no birds had been in the chimney, we must have had heard echos from above/outside the chimney. The chimney was clean and did not need cleaning. They did not try to sell us anything unnecessary. Very honest and thorough! I would highly recommend this company!

Recommended highly by our roofing company. Came out and measured, then made the caps and returned about a week later and installed in one day. At one point, when there was an installation problem, the company president got personally involved with actions to insure our satisfaction. He is very committed to keeping customers for the long haul.

I hired JH Kinnard to repoint two chimneys, which are over 150 years old and three stories tall, so this was a big project. Mortar was crumbling, and there were loose bricks in some areas. The owner of the company came out one morning, told me a lot about his background and the kind of work his company does, and promised to email me a proposal when he got back to the office (he did). He then took a look at my chimneys and asked what I was looking for. I already knew that turning these into working chimneys would require rebuilding them at about $10,000 per chimney -- not interested. I simply wanted them not to leak and not to fall down, and he quoted me $5000 to erect the necessary scaffolding and grind and repoint both as needed - a very fair price based on my research. He added that the new mortar would not be a perfect match but that he would mix it as close as possible. The work was scheduled a few weeks later and took two days to complete. This is a second home so I could not be there during the week and did not meet the workers, though they did call to let me know when they were getting started. When I arrived a few days later, the chimneys looked fantastic, and the mortar was a very close match. Also the work area was left clean and none of my plants were smashed. Based on price and quality of workmanship, I would absolutely recommend JH Kinnard.

I phoned the office of J.H. Kinard for an appointment. The receptionist (an actual person answered the phone) was knowledgeable and helpful and I was able to get an appointment quickly. The technicians arrived on time, explained the work they were going to do, made sure to keep my house clean and protected while they worked, and finished the job quickly and professionally. It was a pleasure doing business with them and I plan to hire them to do some roofing work also.

The company was professional up front and made it clear they collected $65.00 for the assessment which would be applied toward the work. When the company rep. came on site, I was given a ballpark estimate of $1500 to $1800 to bring my fireplace up to code and install gas logs. When I received the estimate it was $4500!! The estimate did not have any breakdown at all to be able to understand the reason for that price or if it would be possible to go lower. I emailed the rep from JH Kinard several times and received no response. I went from having initial great contact with the company to feeling like I thrown $65.00 down the drain. I learned a lesson to expect any estimates to be in DETAIL. I've received quotes from 2 other companies since and they are offering the same service for between $2500 to $3200.

Fireplace/chimney inspection was performed and the detailed work recommended to make it safe to burn a fire in our 40+ year old fireplace. The work was quickly scheduled and performed.

The gentlemen were friendly and professional. They did not try to coerce me into doing anything extra. As a matter of fact, they suggested that we could wait for the chimney to be cleaned, but we opted to have it done. I thought I knew how to clean the glass for the gas fireplaces (from watching YouTube!), but was shown how and did it with their help. It wasn't as complicated as I'd seen. Overall, it was a good experience.

They were very professional in every since of the word. They made sure they covered my wooded floors so they wouldn't get all dirty. They also explained every thing to me and made sure I understood. They also suggested I burn certain woods and to dry them out for 9 months or better for a more even burn. I strongly reccomend them to anyone that is looking for a professional job.

.I have recently moved to McDonough, GA from Florida, and have never operated a fireplace. I called this company because I assumed that I needed to have my chimney cleaned out before using it. The technician thoroughly inspected the fireplace chimney and informed me that it was not necessary to clean it, as it was already completely clean. Another company might have done an unnecessary cleaning and charged for it, because I wouldn't have known the difference, but this technician, David, was very honest. Since I have very little experience with fireplaces, David, the technician went through all the steps and showed me how to build a fire. I am very impressed by this company and their emplooyees: they are professional, honest, helpful, friendly, dependable, and very reasonably priced. This is a well established, family owned business and they show pride in every aspect of their business. Very happy with their service!

Two very nice professional young men came out and after a very thorough inspection of my chimney, was able to give an approximate cost of repairs. This was about 8 months ago and at that time they told me they will be happy to do the work whenever I was ready. I found J.H. Kinard on line while looking for someone local and reliable to call for service. (During that time I did not know anything about Angie's list). I called them and spoke with a very nice young lady to let them know I was ready to have the work done and was very impressed that after 8 months or more they still had my information on file. When I hung up after speaking with the young lady, I thought "maybe I should check on Angie's list and find a contractor for a comparison estimate since this company was one I found on line." To my pleasant surprise, in the list of Chimney contractors on Angie's list, there was J.H. Kinard. This was comfirmation enough for me. The company I called for chimney work 8 months ago just happens to be on Angie's list also. I am believing that this is a sign from God that I have chosen the right company. Today the work was done and I was more than satisfied. They called yesterday to confirm today's appointment and just before their arrival they called again to let me know they were on the way to my home to do the work. They showed me the new pan and chimney cap that they were going to install and afterwards they showed me the old ones that they took off the chimney. They came into my home and very neatly covered the face of the fireplace with plastic to protect the inside of my home from debris inside the chimney that could fall down the chimney during the chimney sweep. when the work was complete they came in and removed the plastic and vacuumed the inside of the fireplace of falling debris. I highly recommend J.H. Kinard for any of chimney work you may need. They are an awesome company. Very friendly, professional, courteous and helpful people. Thank you again Angie's List!!!!

They came in did the work, explained to me what they were doing and what they were looking for during the inspection. The work was complete in less than 1 1/2 hours.

My gas fireplace was not working all the time. When the wall switch was flipped, it sometimes didn't turn the fireplace on. J H Kinard came out and figured it was possibly a wire that wasn't tight enough at the connection point. Everything was tightened up and so far it has been working fine since the repair. Total work took less than 10 minutes. The cost for them to come out was $125 minus a 10% off Angie's List coupon making it $112.50. This is typical for a company to come out for service, and they said that if any real work had to be completed, that money would have gone toward the repairs. Since it was a simple screwdriver repair, the cost seems high, but I know from experience it was fairly average for that situation. I also had damage to the metal trim around my garage door that had been crumpled. They came out and gave me an estimate of $300 to repair it. I agreed to the cost and asked them to come out at their earliest convenience. They came out on a day I wasn't home and made the repairs without me needing to be there. I called a couple days later to make payment and they asked for exactly what was estimated. The repair looked very nice and although I was warned that the color of their replacement might not exactly match the color of the rest of the trim on the garage, I found it to be too close to really notice unless you really look for it. My biggest issue with J H Kinard is their poor communication. Starting with the fireplace, after the initial guy came out to do a quick check of the overall appearance of everything, he told me that their fireplace expert would give me a call that evening to set up a date to come out and try to find the specific issue. Almost a week later I got that phone call from him and he set up a date to come out to the house. He called the morning of his appointment to confirm and say he was on his way, so no issues after that initial, almost week long wait for his phone call. On his way out I walked out with him to the driveway to show him the garage and see if it was something they could fix. He told me most likely yes, and that someone would come out that evening to look at it and give me an estimate. A few days later, I had not gotten a call so I called them and was told he would come out in the next few days to look at it. On the morning after that deadline, I STILL hadn't hadn't heard from them so I called and was told their computers were down but she took my name and number and said I'd get a call back in about two hours when their system was back up. That would have been by noon. At about 5:00 I felt I should probably give them a call since once again I heard nothing. She said she thought she had left me a message (she hadn't), but said he'd be out there in a couple days. A couple days later I DID receive a phone call with an estimate and I agreed to the price. She set up the repair the following day, and when I got home the next evening, the work was completed as promised. In the end, the communication was not satisfactory, but the pricing was reasonable and the work was great. In spite of the poor communication, the work done and the value were satisfactory enough that I will continue to do business with them. Their high reviews from other members on this site also help with that decision.

- During the inspection they identified a potentially dangerous issues with our gas starter. We had it replaced. They did a great job with cleaning the chimney and any made sure they cleaned up after themselves. They were very professional and knowledgeable. A very good experience.

The technicians arrived on time, vacuumed out our fireplace and repaired a crack in the back wall of the firebox and painted the firebox black again. Also the area around the gas outlet wasn't sealed and they caulked it and this would be an issue upon the eventual future sale of our home. They were careful to keep any ashes and debris off our carpet and left everything better than before. I would use them again and plan to have an annual check up.

They were very good. They came and they fixed everything. They were no issues and I am happy with the service. I would use them again in the future.

They charged about $2100 for their services. They could have called back to follow up and see if we had any problems. We did have a minor problem, but we were able to rectify it ourselves. I can’t really say anything about the price because I have never had such a service. They changed the date and they didn’t call us to tell us. We had to call them after they didn’t show up.

They showed up on time and quickly inspected the appliance. No cleaning was needed as it is not required for the type of insert we have. They took the time to explain and show us how it operated, as well as to teach us how to remove and clean the front glass. They also briefly explained what would happen and what to expect if there were problems, as well as what to expect if and when it might need to be replaced. While we expect the insert to work for quite some time without any problems, Kinard's will be the first and only company we will call for assistance.

I called and they worked with my difficult schedule to make it convenient for me. They examine the fireplace and made recommendations on what we could do to ensure it 1) safety, and 2) aesthetic appearance. They recommended a metal place to go in the back of the fireplace to help direct heat outward while protecting the fireplace itself. I also ordered some glass doors through them; the doors came in within the week, and they were there promptly to install them. I was very happy with their work, professionalism, and knowledge.

We don't remember the price as I had them do some other work as well. They were very good and it was excellent. They were on time. They were very efficient and clean. They knew as to what they were doing. We did not compare their price and we thought that it was going to be more expensive but it was reasonable. We don't think that they were over priced. We found them on Angie's List and we like Angie's List service.

The problem was a simple fix; there was no other charge than the initial visit/service charge.My problem was that the high temp cutoff sensor shut off the pilot because the logs were not arranged properly-being touched by the flame, when they shouldn't be. They said on fireplaces like mine that there was only one correct way for the logs to be arranged. The logs had been in the same position for the 5 years I'd had the fireplace. I was skeptical of their advice/service on the problem, but found a day later that they were absolutely correct.
