The installation team was very prompt, efficient, and professional. ?They entered the house with the tools they needed and were done within an hour. I would absolutely use this company again for any additional fireplace needs.

Following the poor communication and lack of conversation this provider completed the job and did a quality job when it was completed. I believe they method they handled this error on their part would lead me to give them another try in the future. I wish they had given me the estimate to stone around my fireplace as I requested.

These guys did an awesome job. They were prompt and left our house clean and our fireplace ready to go.

I'm supposed to call them because they are supposed to refund me the money. They came here and it was $175 and they didn't have to clean my chimney. It was spotless so what they did was they said they were going to credit me and I only needed to pay $125 for them to come out. The people that came where good and they did an excellent job. The customer service guys were nice very efficiently and they said that they would credit me back.

David and Paul gave me a courtesy call and arrived at the early part of the appointment window. They performed the work quickly and neatly, leaving everything as clean as they found it. David took the time to educate me on how chimneys function and what it takes to maintain them. He says he found maintenance issues and has submitted a bid to fix the problem areas to make the chimney safe for operation. I was impressed by both gentlemen's manner and demeanor. I was raised in apartments and only knew a couple of vocabulary words about chimneys but David spoke to me respectfully. We want the chimney to operate this year for nostalgia, not necessity, and would rather purchase a generator with the amount it would cost than to repair the chimney. We will check around to see whether the offer is fair but, if the market says it is, hello generator!

Technicians were prompt and seemed knowledgeable. Checked sealed gas fireplace, lit pilot and confirmed that it was safe and in good working order. Explained how fireplace worked. They did exactly what I requested and I would use this company again. Our home is a long way from their office but they were willing to travel the distance at a reasonable fee while other closer companies would not provide service to our location.

Scheduling an appointment was simple and convenient, with a welcome narrow window of time provided. The office contacted me a few days prior to service date to confirm appointment. Service technicians called before arrival and arrived exactly when expected. Both technicians were courteous and professional. Inspection was swift and technician was very helpful in answering all questions. No problems were found and no attempt was made to sell me other services. I would definitely consider J H Kinard for future needs.

Excellent work!!! Technicians were very knowledgeable. Reps made sure that plastic tarps were put down so that they did not track in water and dirt or leave fireplace materials behind. The floor when they left was as clean as when they came. The cost was half what a big company estimated and the quality of Kinard's was excellent. Kinard's was more responsive to an appointment time than the other big firm. Kinards sell gas log sets also.

There were no troubles with scheduling and they were very accommodating. They called before arriving to the appointment. I have a fire stove insert that had not been done properly in the previous chimney sweeps. They were very thorough and did a great job with it! They were very quick and completed the job in less than an hour. They honored an Angie's List discount, but there was an additional charge because of the fire stove insert. They were very good and I have even recommended them to my son.

Had JH Kinard out to replace the outside of my chimney. I had holes in the composite wood siding and wanted options and costs for replacing the entire outside with like material, brick, and stone. They came out and quoted me a price for each, along with replacing the fireplace on the inside. I decided to go with the flagstone on the outside that matched stone on the front of my house. The company did the work themselves, came promptly each morning and were very professional. Job took a few days longer than originally expected, but the work was top notch and the outside of my chimney now looks great. Added some great value to my home!

They were very professional and informative on operations of the fireplaces.

They kept in constant contact with me if we had any questions. I was able to negotiate and threw in some extras for the same price. They were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

J. H. Kinard contacted me to set up an appointment for the installation of the fireplace. I informed them that I was getting another estimate of the cost and I will get back with them at a later date. When I contacted them approximately a week later , I informed them that I had acquired another provider to do the installation at a substanially lower cost. They informed me that since I had accepted the proposal, I was required to pay for a custom made chimney pan which they had ordered at a cost of $250.00, or they will turn the invoice over to a collection agency. I wrote them a letter and apologize for the inconvenience that I had cost them along with a $100.00 check for the cost of the pan. I informed them that this was a good faith gesture on my part, because after all, they did not honor their own proposal, by not requesting the $1500.00 down payment at the acceptance of the proposal and the payment of the chimney pan before the order was placed. I also informed them that I had paid a $65.00 service call fee for an estimate. A total of $165.00, which was more than enough for their service.

Fixed chimney water leaking during rain by drilling out 1/4" old grout and regrouting, cleaned chimney bricks, sealed with special silicon sealant and installed a custom order chimney cap. They showed up when they were supposed to and performed their work in a timely competent manner. No surprises, their estimate was accurate. Provided written estimates and contract. Very pleased with their work, chimney no longer leaks even in heavy rain.

the glass was not installed properly and had to be replaced. it took took 2 weeks for the first job and then 2 weeks again to repair the sloppy job.

I called on Wednesday and it was Monday before they could get to us, it means they are popular and good. Two gentlemen arrived, one went up on the roof, the other to the fireplace. When the gentleman from the roof came in the house he brought us pictures of what he saw at the chimney showing there was no way an animal could get into the chimney, whatever we heard was not there at least. The team was in and out in 10 minutes. They honored the Angie's List discount coupon so charged us the $65 trip charge less 10% for a total of $58.50.

I had a wood-burning gas fireplace, in excellent condition. I wanted to have the chimney swept out, prior to having it converted (by a different company) into a log-burning gas fireplace. I was told that someone would call me back to provide a quote, & then to schedule an appointment for the work, should I wish to proceed. When I received the call back, the caller had a rather abrasive attitude. He "demanded" to know who was doing the conversion and why it wasn't J.H. Kinard? After all, didn't I know that they did such conversions? He automatically assumed my decision was cost driven and began explaining why my thinking was faulty and that I shouldn't allow costs to stop me from hiring them. He then began to "lecture me" on the importance of my ensuring that "not one speck of dust remain in my chimney", after it's been cleaned, or it won't be adequately cleaned for my conversion and problems will result. You get what you pay for, and as a final straw, "he demanded" to know the name of the company I hired to do the conversion? His tone suggested he felt he had some right to know! Because I was willing to, I told him I'd hired Builders Specialties; a very reputable & reliable company. However, he opted to say absolutely nothing in reply; he merely changed the subject. I thanked him for his time, told him I'd give it some thought and call back if I was further interested in hiring them. Nevertheless, they called me a few days later, to follow up and see what I had decided. I explained that I'd already had the work completed by another vendor. I then inquired about the man I'd spoken with before and whether or not he was their business owner? I was sadden to learn that he was indeed the owner. I have little hope for the value of a customer's feedback, when it's the business owner himself who treats potential customers poorly. Nevertheless, I told the woman calling why he failed to acquire my business and asked that she pass the information onto him. I hoped he'd use my critique to improve his customer service skill set. In the interim, it won't matter if his costs are practically free. I prefer to support companies that build their businesses with their customer base in mind. Always consider customers and customers will always consider your business!
