Work was substandard the first time they came to remove construction stains from a new tub. They left stains in the tub still and got their green abrasive all over the painted walls and just left it. It needed to be repainted. Then when they came to correct tubs they failed to clean the first time, the technician explained he was the one that was there the first time. He was annoyed that he had to come back and also said that we could just do it ourselves. Very unprofessional. If we had done it ourselves, the wall wouldnt need to be repainted because of your careless work.

Our size walk-in shower renovation required them to use a different brand shower base than they normally use. It developed a crack after several years of use and the repairman found that inside the base was an air bubble. So he removed the area around the bubble, put in fiberglass/resin and refinished the surface. He used a window exhaust fan to reduce odor. He also made a return trip to check the repair.
Description of Work: Repaired previous installation under warranty.

It was not good. They are yet to finish the job. They have different color on the bottom threshold of the shower. They were supposed to come back out and put a correct color and they are yet to do it. It's very difficult to get in touch with them and they tell you they are going to do something and they don't do it. I've been there numerous times.
Description of Work: We've used Tub Doctor for bathroom remodeling. They took out a tub and put in a shower and remodeled a bathroom.

Not good experience. We are in process of interviewing other companies to complete the job and fix some errors. Will update this review as we proceed. UPDATE 07/02/13. Found independent contractor to renovate 2nd bathroom and fix some problems with bathroom renovated by Tub Doctor. Quality of work and work ethic of crew is comparable to that of Tub Doctor. Difference is that the contractor keeps us up to date, openly reveals problems encountered, does not come up with excuses for products and supplies not being ordered or delivered on time. Key words here are: honesty and accountability. Will update this review as we proceed. UPDATE 09/21/12: nearly 3 months since we found the second contractor and we are still dealing with issues from the tub doctor and now from this second contractor. Issues primarily centering around plumbing. SUMMARY: The Augusta Georgia area simply does not have the same quality of contractors that one would expect to find in a larger area or as seen on HGTV. Tub Doc grade revised.

It took a long time for the materials to all arrive, but when they finally scheduled, they showed up on time. Be sure to check what arrives. We had specified a tall corner caddy, but a short one was delivered. They had a tall one in stock and got it to our house in time. One and half day installation was faster than they had estimated. The installer asked us where we wanted everything before he installed it. The install was done with no problems and we are enjoying our new walk-in shower.
Description of Work: Tear out large garden tub that was difficult to step into and replaced with 5' x 4' shower with low threshold that could be crossed by wheel chair and had bench seat and lots of grab bars. Tub Doctor had the best quote and the best solution for us (but all quotes were higher than one would expect). One big decision on selecting an installer is the materials they use (acrylic vs. cultured marble). Tub Doctor uses Luxury Bath Acrylic, other installers quoted either all cultured marble or a cultured marble base and Acrylic sides. Luxury Bath did not have exactly what fit our needs (large size and large built-in bench), but Tub Doctor special ordered an acrylic base. One advantage of the acrylic base is that if an elderly person falls in the shower, the acrylic base gives a little and is less likely to break a bone compared to the cultured marble base. After looking at what had happened to our cultured marble bathroom sinks, we decided not to use cultured marble. Once the thin resin top coat (just like on fiber glass) of cultured marble was worn or chipped, water penetrated the porous material and left black speckles that went deep into the material and could not be sanded out. For ease of cleaning, we went with smooth surface acrylic for walls. But I decided to not get a solid color since there would be less eye input for maintaining balance (think of walking in a white out snow storm). So went with smooth surface, but with a design so that my brain would have visual feedback and decrease the fall risk. Went with a shower curtain instead of a door, because a door would limit access width and make using a wheel chair difficult. All the installers first quoted a temp control water valve with one handle, which makes no sense at all! With one handle control, you loose the temperature setting when you turn off the water. A two handle control allows you to keep the temperature setting when you turn off the water. Any small difference in price soon pays for itself in the water saved by not having to hunt for the correct setting every shower. So we specified a Delta 7000 series water valve with both temperature and flow control handles. (But I like the Price-Pfister better because it has built-in shut off for easy cartridge changes.) Tub Doctor recommended that we install a bath exhaust fan, even though we had a window, due to the mold that had formed on our window (I did the fan install myself). I did not like having to pay money down, but all of the installers required that due to special materials being ordered.

Don't trust your contractor if he is not listed on Angie's List!!!! The contractor paid $120.00 to Tub Doctor through M & D Home Services to repair the damages he did to our brand new tub. The man that repaired our tub from Tub Doctor never sanded the tub. Common sense tells me there was no way the paint that he painted over our tub was going to bond? But I thought maybe he knows something I don't? It sure looked pretty when it was done? But it is peeling. Guess what happens when you don't properly prepare a surface to apply a coat of whatever they used on? It peels! Guess that is why they only give a one year warranty!
Description of Work: M & D Home Services remodeled my bathroom. Because the contractor refused to cover the brand new bathtub as I repeatedly requested the inevitable happened. He dropped a heavy tool in the 2nd brand new bathtub, yes the first one he damaged as well! He did not learn his lesson from destroying the first brand new bathtub. Would have fired him but we made the mistake of paying him already thinking we could trust him. So sure enough he chips a large area in another brand new bathtub. No problem he says! Yeah right! I will call Tub Doctor he says and they will come right out and fix it. It will be good as new and last for years just like a regular tub. I should have know better. Tub Doctor came out and fixed all the chips and damage from the tools being dropped continously in our brand new tub. I have a receipt that shows on January 16, 2013 M & D Home Services paid $120.00 for this repair work. The man that repaired the tub gave instructions not to use the tub for 24 hours. Well that was a joke anyway because the contractor never fixed the new plumbing and if we had tried to take a bath, water poured out the shower and tub faucet at the same time. So we had to take baths or wash in the kitchen sink anyway! So my husband and I decided to let it cure for 3 days instead of the 24 hours anyway. So that bath room was never touched or entered in 3 days by just my husband and I. When we did enter the new bathroom it was to use only the toilet and sink! Because the unscrupulous contractor had not finished our bathroom in 3 MONTHS!!!! He also left instructions to never ever use abbrasives to clean the tub. I bought a soft sponge just for cleaning the bathtub and only used hand dish washing liquid. The bathtub never got cleaned because it was brand new and did NOT NEED IT! We eventually hired Babbitt's, Inc. to come and fix our bathroom. Read my rating about them! They did not touch the tub because they thought like us that Tub Doctor had fixed it. It looked shiny and pretty! Well much to my horror and dismay I am taking a shower Sunday, February 24, 2013 and guess what I see headed for the drain at my feet? You guessed it! Plastic. Strips of plastic. The entire tub after being used for only a month is PEELING! No wonder they give only a 1 year guarantee! Now how do I get my money back? I had already paid this unscrupulous contractor. After this shoddy workmanship I certainly don't want the same people supposedly fixing my bathtub. So I am looking around on Angies List and looking at bathtub refnishing now. I will post my review of that company after the tub refinishing is complete.

Two men performed the work in eight hours. The price included extending walls but the fit was perfect and wall extension was not required. The job was well done. I thought the hardware (shower head and diverter) quality was low compared to the price I paid. I ended up replacing the shower head and diverter with high quality parts.
Description of Work: Replace a garden size bathtub with an oversized walk in shower with a sliding glass door. The shower walls and base were manufactured to fit the size of the tub area. The shower accessories included a shower head, a hand held shower, a builtin seat, a wall mounted hand bar, and a corner shelf.
