During the planning and design phase, Tony Raffa made 2 follow up trips to our home to double and triple check all measurements, ensuring the deck design on paper translated accurately to the deck location on the back of our home. He was extremely thorough during the planning process which resulted in an itemized list of materials that was a part of his total estimate for the job, to include labor. I have had deck construction and home remodeling jobs estimated before and this was the first time I had received a clear line-by-line breakdown of what all of the materials would be. He even discussed all of our design options with us, so that we could make the best informed decision as possible (i.e. building in phases, using lower grade lumber, smaller deck/pergola, etc). He estimated 2 weeks for completion if the weather cooperated. Tony and his crew of 2 guys constructed the deck and pergola in 2 weeks (took Sundays off for family), starting and completing the job right on time as promised. Throughout the construction process Tony and his crew cleaned up the job site daily, and organized his materials and equipment before leaving each day. Neither Tony or his crew ever imposed on us for utilizing our restrooms, or requesting water or food from us. He bought lumber in small increments and ensured that the wood had an opportunity to rest a couple of days at minimum before installing. This is so very important as all lumber has natural tendencies and "memory"; a concept explained to me by Tony. The final result is a deck and pergola that far exceeds our vision and wildest imagination. The attention to detail and quality of craftsmanship is becoming increasingly rare and was a breath of fresh air to hire a man and his company that still holds to a strong value system and a standard of excellence in his work. I felt very comfortable with him and his crew being at the house each day working around my family (wife, kids, & dogs). Tony and his crew have over 50 years experience in construction and I will absolutely contact and hire him for our future fence and remodeling projects.
Description of Work: We had a custom built single level 750 sq. ft. deck with 16 ft X 27 ft pergola built on site off the rear of our home. All lumber used was Grade A pressure treated lumber. The pergola was constructed with 6 in X 6 in posts and set 3 feet into the ground with concrete.
