Shumate Air Conditioning & Heating

I've been using them since 1997. They were recommended to me.

I would say I am changing but I was going through Shumate for heating and A/C. It is going terrible. I'm getting ready to give them a bad review. They won't call me back on the damages. Their price was fine. I would tell a friend that if anything goes wrong, they don't return your calls to help you figure out how to deal with the water damage in your home that they caused.

I could not have enough good things to say about them. Everything was top-of-the-line, price, service, and everything. Their price was very competitive.

Excellent. Tech who visited and did work was named Jimmy. Very friendly and professional, and he even took time to answer all my questions about a/c's. Cost of fan = $773 cost of maintenance = $235 per house with 2 systems Cost of capacitor replacement = $152

My upstairs A/C unit failed after the temp hit 100 on Saturday. I contacted them on Sunday by email, they called back on Sunday and confirmed an appointment for Monday afternoon. They also were willing to call me 30 minutes before arrival so I could go home and meet them there, didn't have to stay home waiting for them. They showed up promptly when they said they would, quickly diagnosed the problem and gave me the estimated cost to fix it. The service tech was excellent and took the time to explain the problem with the capacitor to me and showed me why it was bad. He had the parts with him, fixed in in a few minutes, let me use the Angie's list coupon to reduce the bill. Excellent service, and a professional service tech. I would highly recommend them for heating or A/C service calls.

I paid for several other HVAC service companies to troubleshoot my HVAC problem where the heat was working but not the cooling. Every other company said I had to replace the entire system at a cost of between $3800 all the way up to $17,000! Finally I had Shumate to come in to check it. The service technician said that it had no Freon in the system. It is an old system so there may be a slow leak but after he re-filled the Freon, the cooling system has worked perfectly for several days. Not one of the other contractors I had to check the system had suggested simply adding Freon nor apparently even checked the Freon level or if they did, they didn't tell me that there was no Freon in the system. So I'm very happy with the honest service that I got from Shumate.

Service Technician was professional but late. Scheduled service call was 6/9/16, 12PM to 6PM. Showed up after 7PM. When he did arrive he was professional and courteous. He was very helpful in understanding the issue and providing recommended corrective actions. Shumate Technicians can not set up replacement schedule or equipment. A Service Engineer was scheduled to come to the house the next day somewhere between 4 - 6PM, After the Shumate scheduler accommodated my schedule to move the appointment from 2PM to 4pm, the Service Engineer apparently did not get informed of the re-schedule. He did not show up to after 7PM. He was curtious and professional and quickly developed a Furnace Replacement price. Could not get the work done over the weekend and scheduled the replacement for Monday 6/13/16 from 2-4PM. Replacement Technicians showed up early at 12PM on 6/13/16 and finished the work by 1:45. Very professional and curtious. I would have been very supportive of Shumate but for the lack of their schedule promptness.

I was not impressed with the overall experience. They did show up on time and were friendly and professional about it but I know they were quoting me way too much and for that reason I would not use their now or in the future.

Very good. Our AC wasn't blowing cold air. The Shumate technician showed up early and then quickly diagnosed the problem and made the repair. Then, he answered all of my questions about our AC system and how make it perform more efficiently.

They looked at it, turned the system off, said they would come back later but never came back later. They charged us for coming out to look at it, for touching the equipment and for getting a piece of paper towel out of the truck to wipe their hands off. I am assuming they might have some redeemable qualities. They could improve on their customer service and not nickel and diming their customers. My advice to others is to make sure it is a very serious problem before calling them out.

My upstairs AC system went down Wednesday night. I waited a day, hoping it had just iced up an needed to drain. But by Thursday night I knew I had to call for repairs. I will preface this by saying that I am a Shumate maintenance customer, which gives me priority on service calls. However... I called Shumate about noon time on Friday. They said they could come out the same afternoon with a call 30 minutes prior to arrival. After I received the call, the technician showed up 20 minutes later, about 3pm. He analyzed the problem, found a bad capacitor, replaced it and was gone by 3:20 after checking that everything was in working order. Let me repeat... I called a HVAC vendor in the middle of August with a broken AC system and it was repaired 3 1/2 hours later. I would have been happy with a week turn-around. Fabulous. Truly extraordinary Service. About the maintenance program... for a bit over $200 a year they come out twice in the year, fully inspect and service both my HVAC systems, change filters (no extra cost) and give me a report. And... as mentioned, put you on priority list when service calls are needed. I would give these guys A+++ if I could!

I've been using Shumate for over 15 years. They are always consistent, thorough and professional. Highly recommended.

Too long ago to remember all the details but they also installed two upstairs independent units years back and they are excellent. Great tech guy and flushed the line and was very thorough which is why I called them back. Good company with no worries!

They will be there when they say they will be. He has been coming for at least 5 years. You do not worry who is in your house. We have two systems and they check them out twice a year. They have long term employees and he knows what he is doing.

Great experience from the beginning...very quick to respond and schedule an estimate. Swift Tyler came out and designed our solution...he took quite a bit of time to explain all the options and educate us on the process. His follow up was extremely quick on both the quote and answering questions and they were able to work with our schedule to get the job completed. On install day, the crew worked 12 hours, did a really professional job and Swift came out to make sure that the end result was what he had promised us. The job was done in one day. Would definitely recommend them.

I found them through a neighborhood reference. They are outstanding all the way around. The guy who came out here was John Francis. There were three people working for 8-10 hours.

Everything went well and I was happy with the service.

They were fine. They did a good job. They told me when they were coming, they showed up, the guy was prepared. He had all the stuff he needed on the truck and took care of it. They billed me right in and there and gave me an email receipt immediately, so the job was really well done.

It went perfectly fine. We didn't have any complaints at all. The company sent one technician to take care of us.

After several years of just getting by our old (29yr) Furnace finally gave out on us and at what better time? The coldest days of the year of course... Called Shumate and they had a tech come out to us within several hours of calling and while he made an effort the system just couldn't be "patched" up any longer so he checked to see if they had a sales rep that could come out and less than an hour later Bo Rodgers, the sales rep for Shumate showed up and walked us through several different options and took the time to answer any and all questions. Once we decided on an entire new HVAC system for the house he set us up for next day install. Wow!! So for only one night we all huddled up with a space heater and at 8AM the following morning the install crew came out and 3 1/2 hours later we had a new much more efficient furnace and much more efficient Air Conditioning unit all installed and even more importantly we had HEAT again during this cold snap. Bo really sold us on Shumate and this guy really went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. In this day and age we often taken customer service for granted but when someone truly cares then it shows and we'll be recommending Shumate and Bo to any and everyone we know.

It was both good and bad. The equipment seems fine. The installation was improperly done, resulting in several thousand dollars worth of water damage through the house. As far as I know, they have reimbursed my insurance company, but I don't know that for sure. The installer failed to install the equipment properly, which resulted shortly there after in an over flow of water from the air conditioning unit into the attic, which fell down through 3 levels of the house. I don't think they are a bad company. I think they hired an installer that was not adequately trained or disregarded his training. He made 2 serious mistakes. He failed to check the drain to make sure it was not clogged, and he left a cap off the plumbing which connects the air handler to the drain line. Apparently when you leave that cap off, it results in negative pressure, which does not allow the air handler to expel the water. Then there was a third mistake. There is a devise that is installed in the drain pan which regulated the height inside the drain pan before it shuts down the air handler, so the drain pan over flowed because it was not installed. Three different mistakes, and any one of them could have caused the problem that we experienced.

all went well. the only hang-up was it took almost a month to get on their schedule.
