After the initial visit, Shumate sent out an engineer to access the furnace that I have and one that I would need. He was very honest in his assessment, and really put me at ease. He showed me a couple of models to choose from - I picked a Lennox - mid price. It had everything I needed plus a nice warranty. A few days later, they came out to install the new furnace. In and out in a little over 3 hours - very professional! And, my furnace is under by crawlspace - a big job for them. I'm very happy with the results - I would recommend Shutmate to anyone -

Called in service order on Saturday evening when unit stopped working and elected to wait until Monday to have unit repaired to avoid higher service call rates for after hours repair. Also saved $50.00 with Angie's list on-line coupon. Technician arrived promptly by 9AM on Christmas Eve, diagnosed, repaired, checked out entire unit and was done and gone in an hour. Excellent Service. Very Satisfied.

Shumate arrived the next day and immediately identified/corrected the problem. He also installed a moisture sensor that will turn off the unit if the leak happens again. Excellent work and price paid very reasonable.

The salesman was professional and informative. The technicians were prompt and efficient. Everything works.

I was very pleased with their service. I switched to Shumate after a bad experience with a previous HVAC company. I brought Shumate out for a "second opinion" on a faulty condenser coil. The technician was pleasant, and asked specifically that I not tell him the original diagnosis so that he could make his own, unbiased diagnosis. I appreciated that. At any rate, he found the same problem (but much faster than the competitor), quoted a lower price (despite me not being on a service contract), and worked with me to get the parts replaced under warranty even though there was a complication with the age of the house versus the age of the HVAC unit. The repair work was fine and has had no problems since then. I also had them out for service on a separate unit that was leaking refrigerant. This is a long story, but ultimately they were able to repair the problem by adding sealant to the system without charging me for leak detection or expensive replacement parts. The technician was very patient explaining my options and the potential risks- that kind of patience when facing a potentially expensive service is worth its weight in gold for me. I am also happy to say that the two technicians that I have dealt with have not been pushy in any way to sell additional optional repairs or contracts.

We actually had an issue with the upstairs AC unit. We bought the AC maintenance and used it on the downstairs AC unit. The technician was very professional and knowledgeable. Since this review is for the AC maintenance service we purchased through Angie's list I'll skip the details on the upstairs AC unit.(Apparently, Angie's list will keep sending you annoying review notice emails until you provide one even if you don't have a constructive review .) I didn't follow the technician so I can't say what was done or not, let alone say what did not didn't need to be done. How do you really write a review on maintenance work when nothing is broken? The filter was replaced and the freon pressure checked. I will be calling them again based on the excellent work on the broken upstairs AC unit.

Shumake replaced our aging mainfloor central AC/Gas Heater for an area of approximately 1500 square feet with multiple rooms, halls and enclaves. Our mainfloor had been drafty with expensive gas and electrical bills, plus maintenance was constant. We engaged 5 HVAC companies with 3 which actually responded and performed a per-sale analysis. Shumake did the most complete assessment of our areas, airflow and room utilization. We have an open library as well as an adjacent dining room which had never been properly vented. The unit they installed has been flawless and my utility bills reduced by the promised 25% PLUS we are always in a good temperature for the outside weather - even in the "nook" areas. Additionally, they added a vent to our cold master bath making it tolerable. I can actually read and work the therometer they installed. We found them to be professional and through, especially for a complex and difficult equipment replacement. Their equipment is excellent. with a variable fan option which no other company recommended. They were not the least expensive, maybe even on the higher side of expense. However, I have recouped their differential in less than 6 months. I will use them again for a major installation.

Received a call saying service man was on his way. He arrived about 1/2 hr. later. He was friendly, confident, and efficient. I was pleased with his work and would call Shumate again.

I did not have time to shop around for the best price because we were moving into this house the next day. The heater was not working at this home when Shumate came to do their routine inspection of the A/C and heater. They said that they can have the sales guy come out the next day and install a new heat pump immediately. We did not have time to get estimates from other places because we were moving into this home the next day. I read other reviews and it seems that Shumate has the best quality with 10 year warranty. The price seems high but may be worth it since we got the heat pump installed the very next day. We could probably save a few hundred dollars if we got estimate from other places.. however, we were happy with their prompt service and they were all very professional.

except for the wait, this was a "10" experience I plan to continue working with this professional company.

We called Shumate specifically because of the overwhelmingly good comments on Angie's List. And we had heard of Shumate for many years, so we knew that they had a long service history in the metro Atlanta area. Our furnace blower was going bad - making lots of noise, and after my handy-man husband checked it out, he deterimed that the motor was probably going to have to be replaced. So we called Shumate, and they came out within a day. Their first service call was on a Fri afternoon. After just a few minutes, we were told that we did indeed need a new motor/blower, and of course, the part would have to be ordered. After calling their office, the service tech (Phil) said that the part would be in by the following Wed and that they would call us to schedule a 2nd repair visit. In the meantime, we could take our chances and run the furnace, putting up with the loud noises coming from the unit. The next Wed, Thurs, and Fri am came and went - NO CALL FROM SHUMATE! So at noon on Fri, we called the Shumate office, and when we asked what was going on and why we still had no new motor, they appeared confused and defensive - and asked to call us back. When they called back, they said the part hadn't arrived. So when we let them know how unhappy we were - and how we intended to let our bad experience be known, they got off the call, and then called back in 20 min. Miraculously, they had found our part and could come do the repairs that afternoon. We asked that they come prior to 3pm, since I teach private students after that hour and no one would be home. They agreed. At 2:30, we had not received any call-back, and when I placed the 5th call to their office, I was told VERY LOUDLY by William, their service coord, that they had already gone to a lot of trouble to even get the part (we had already waited a week) and that they had done all they could. When I stated that not only had they not bothered to make even one phone call to let us know what was happening, they had obviously dropped the ball in not following up on the parts order that was supposedly placed a week before. William continued to shout at me, then said he would call me back. On the next call, he said that he would have a service tech out on the following morning (Sat). Phil, the original tech, replaced the motor and the new one appears to be running. It tool 25 minutes to replace the old motor and install the new one, including setting the temp and my writing a very large check. That was in addition to the 8 days waiting with NO kind of communication from Shumate until we made multiple calls to get them to do what they had promised. Phil appears to have done a good job, and we hope that our furnace will now provide warm air. But the lack of consideration and communication, and the poor Customer Serice from Shumate,including the rude and disrespectful treatment by their service coord, has convinced us that we need to choose someone else to do our A/C-furnace work next time.

I had a maintenance appointment for 9:00 at a condo I am renting out. I was waiting outside the condo (I do not live there) and the technician did not show up or call to tell me he would be late. At about 9:20 I called Shumate and they told me he was about 20 minutes away. I cancelled the appointment because I had to get back to work. If I had known they were going to be 40 minutes late, I could have shown up when they would have made it there and would not have been away from work as long. I just wanted a call to let me know they would be late, it seems like every other company I have worked with calls when they expect to not make an appointment on time.

Serviceman arrived on time, was very friendly, performed all checks, changed filter and batteries in thermostat.

I left messages at places, but only phone takers called me back. With Shumate , though, an engineer on duty called back and I told them what happened. He suggested there could be a problem with the battery. I put in new batteries and it start working. There was no service call or charge, he just offered a solution over the phone right away. He then said he thought that our thermostat might be dead, so he came out the next day. Because he was doing business and I had not been contacted by the other, I signed up for a contract. He was not grubbing for money. He will come out twice a year and once a year replace the battery. No other service provider has ever checked the battery, but they did. They also found the capacitor was failing. I cannot recommend them highly enough. They are the best ever.

The service from Shumate was professional and prompt and seems to have been effective. The service technician explained things to me in complete terms and gave me clear (as possible) options. Overall, I'm very impressed by their service.

Just an initial informational call. Extremely professional, well-informed & articulate. I had questions regarding the replacement of two entire HVAC systems, as well as duct cleaning (3rd party) and dust control. The representative I spoke with was zero-pressure, very informative, and had a sincere desire to help. We are still in the budgeting phase of this project, but will definitely get back with Shumate to follow-up.

They were willing to negotiate on price and service. Their service was great and the work was done with very high quality.

The entire process from making my call in the morning to having Paul come out to my condo was very professional. I would recommend Shumate to anyone. Paul was very polite and explained a couple of things to me.

Contact was very fast and the repairman was pompt and very nice. He applied a quick fix for us and then had a salesman contact us to give us an estimate on new a new unit. They were both very courtious and prompt. The estimate was very reasonable and we will be using them to replace our unit when we can afford to do so.

This was the second company i called .first did not respond right away -set up service for next morning and then they told me they can get some one shortly -To which i said yeah! Avery polite man came by and fixed my problem.Very satisfied and will use again .

We had many malfunctions when we moved into our new house (5 yrs old, new for us). We got some vendors through servicemagic to evaluate the issue and it was diagnosed as an evaporator coil leak that would cost anywhere from $600-900 to diagnose and repair. We elected to just refill the Refrigerant as a stop-gap measure. Well, that lasted only couple of weeks and then we completely lost all air downstairs (same system with coil leak). I switched from servicemagic to Angie's list to try them out. I looked at 4 vendors on Angies list and had 3 come to house to further troubleshoot the system. Shumate and 1 other were very professional and helpful. I didn't interact with them till this week (this process has been on-going for couple of weeks). All vendors, including shumate, diagnosed a blower motor failure and recommended a replacement of the AC unit. However, a different vendor recommended complete replacement of the system (ac unit, evaporator, and furnace) to prevent compatability issues. This was going to be an expensive ordeal. So I had 2 vendors quote me complete new systems. Shumate and the other vendor were exact same in price, BUT Shumate offered a higher-end Lennox AC unit and a higher BTU 2-stage/variable speed furnace, plus a service contract. I ran the numbers and we chose to upgrade from our existing 10 SEER contractor-grade AC system to a 16-SEER high-efficiency system. I am looking forward to our next electricity bill as I am confident it will be slashed in almost half! I have studied HVAC systems closely and high efficiency is the way to go if you intend to live in the same house for 7-10 years. Shumate qualities: professional, polite, very quick turn-around time, willing to earn your business more than just on price...service as well, the sales-rep told me to call him anytime with any questions and concerns...I took him up on the offer and called him at 8pm to ask couple of questions (I later realized how late I called him). Great job, look forward to more quality servicing from them.

After Brand X came out and told me that I would need a new unit now and it would cost $2800.00 Bobby. so I went joined Angie'slist and found the top two companies. The top rated company told me it would be a week; so, at 4:30 pm, I called Shumate & they said they would have some out in the morning. (Robert Cook) performed the service for Shumate the next morning on August 7, 2012. A service tech should be understanding and professional; they should explain what the are doing and care about the customer's home; which is exactly what Bobby did. Bobby was kind, understanding, engaging and helpful. he explained exactly what he was doing & why. If you are looking for honest & professional service, ask for Bobby, they couldn't possibly have a nicer or more honest guy. I would actually pay more per hour to have this tech come out next time. He saved me big bucks, but was also honest about the need to replace my unit in the near future.
