Shumate Air Conditioning & Heating

My furnace stopped working in the middle of the night. I called Shumate because they did the original install. They were very fast to respond to me. The gentleman that came out was very nice. They had to order a replacement part, so that was kind of a bummer, but they had everything up and working a couple of days later (once the part came in). Everyone that I've dealt with at Shumate have been really friendly.

Was out of town when my wife called and said the heater was not working. It was December and cold. I arrived home on Monday AM and called for service returning from the airport. The service man arrived within three hours. It was an 18 year old furnace that was no longer made. It was about $300 difference between a new one and fix the old one - easy decision. The salesman arrived within 2 hours and the furnace installers arrived at 8:30 AM the next morning and done by 11:00. Got home and the furnace was installed within 24 hours. It is running great. Very satisfied with the whole process.

I interviewed fours HVAC Companies and due to the professionalism and the persons ability to explain in simple terms, it make it a no brainer to select them. They had two calls prior to the installation to arrange for a date that was acceptable to both of us. The called the night before to confirm and showed up on time. They replaced a complete HVAC units that were 28 years old. In addition replace the thermostat (2), outside slabs for the AC units. They trained my wife and myself on how to use it and had two follow up calls from Shumate Management to see if we were happy.

The original HVAC units that were installed when my house was built over twenty years ago were limping along on their last legs. They were inadequate low-grade units put in by the builder. Shumate had done great job keeping them alive for the past few years so we could make it through the summers. Finally, the upstairs unit died--beyond hope of saving. I had had such great service from Shumate over the years, so I asked them for a quote on good replacements for both upstairs and downstairs. They promptly and courteously complied. They recommended the XC14 second tier Lennox units with variable speed furnace fan, and a seer rating of 14-16, and re-doing the ductwork adjacent to the units. They also recommended a more powerful unit for upstairs unit, because my ductwork would accomodate it, and it would be more cost-effective, and heavy-duty filters for both units. Shumate gave me their best price up front. I told them I'd have to get other quotes and get back to them. They were fine with that, and said they always recommend that. I got four other quotes from other companies on comparable units (comparing apples to apples and doing my homework on various brands), ductwork, thermostats, etc. Long story short, Shumate beat them all hands down with the best price plus additional discounts and rebates. They even added a few other details at no additional charge. Shumate's rep never said anything bad about any other company, but during his answers to my questions, I realized a couple of other companies had been less than honest with me. On the agreed upon day, Shumate arrived with all equipment and a full crew, and began work in the morning before the heat of the day, and didn't stop until the whole job was done. Then the job supervisor walked me through everything and explained everything, even programmed the thermostats to our specifications. They cleaned up and hauled off all the old equipment, scraps and debris, and even swept up the tiniest particles. Sumate's people were so friendly and helpful, as always in our previous experience with them. These new Lennox units are awesome. Quiet (you never hear them), efficient (energy efficient and money saving), and the house is always at the perfect temperature--super comfortable! They've since called me a couple of times to make sure I'm completely happy and to answer any additional questions. That's good service. Bottom line: I can whole-heartedly recommend Shumate, and will use them again and again for all my HVAC needs. If you need airconditioning or heating for your home, let Shumate give you a quote. I bet you'll choose them for the job. If you choose Shumate, you won't be disappointed!

I signed up for the annual maintenance plan and properly maintained the Lennox Air Conditioner purchased from Shumate last year. When the unit "grounded out" in October 2014, Shumate honored the manufacturer's warranty and replaced the unit. The only cost to me was the renewal of the annual maintenance plan. Everyone from the service manager to the technicians made valiant efforts to insure I was a happy and satisfied customer. It is nice to know that Shumate stands by the products they sell and does whatever it takes to uphold their exemplary customer service reputation.

They have done a good job. They are excellent. They have a fair price for the work they do.

They were so much better than the previous provider; they were more knowledgeable and efficient. They corrected the problem and we were satisfied with the work.

They were really good! The gentleman who came out was very very thorough, nice, and taught me things as he went along that I didn't know.

I wasn't completely happy with their work. I definitely had some sticker shock, but to be fair, I wasn't able to price around. They didn't have the parts needed for the repairs, so I had to pay extra to have them build a special one. The unit has held up fine since then, though. I would perhaps consider using them if needed.

That went pretty good. However I was expecting a deduction since I had a whole new unit put in. They did a good job installing the new unit but I would have expected a deduction for that initial visit. It took them less than a day to do the job.

I hope all goes well on 9/2, but I don't expect any issue as I've always had a pleasant experience with Shumate over the years. They replaced our furnace on 12/31/13 and everything went very well then. A very good company to work with.

My air conditioner stopped functioning on Thursday evening and the next day, I checked Angie's list of providers. I was able to email several recommended vendors with the same question of whether their company would repair an air conditioner in a high rise condominium and whether or not they had performed any repairs in my particular condominium high rise. I have never had to call nor use any of the recommended air conditioner repair vendors from Angie's List before. I was able to pay per credit card using his tablet and saw the bill as described above and received a copy immediately via email on my computer. Everything went very smoothly from the email, phone call, quick response, same day, same afternoon service, courteous service and followup emails via Angie's List for $50.00 check refund. I will definitely use Shumate again. I wish that I could remember who I spoke with on the phone and who sent me the emails from Shumate to give them credit for excellent customer service, too. We used Shumate for a number of years for our annual heating and cooling checkups. Additionally, we would use them for any emergencies. We have moved and Shumate does not service the area in which we now live. I don't remember the last date of service, the cost, or precisely what work was done. I would assume it would have been a final checkup before selling our house. We were always very pleased with Shumate's service, their reliability and caliber of work, as well as their pricing. I wish I had the information you have asked for in this section. Hopefully, what I have written will suffice to help you register Shumate as a company with excellent references.

Some misunderstanding about my having already purchased the tune-up. When I called the company they refunded the money they owed me right away.

I called Shumate HVAC based Angie's List reviews. Our AC died over the weekend. James, the service tech gave me the bad news that Freon was not getting through the coil :( Bob came out the same day and explained several options, pricing, etc. He was very knowledgeable and showed me where the previous coil/furnace installation was not correct. Shumate was out the following Tuesday to replace the unit. Luis and Mario showed up exactly when Bob said they would to do the install. I was impressed with just how professional they were, down to the smallest details. If you need HVAC repair or installation, I guarantee you will not be disappointed with Shumate!

I chose Shumate based on my sister's recommendation, and it was a great experience. They had the lowest price of the companies that I talked to, they did a great job, and they had very accommodating hours. I'd highly recommend their services.

It went well, I really liked the guy's honesty; Lewis was his name. I am in facilities management and I work with technicians all day. I have never had a gas system before so it was great that he took the time to educate me on my A/C. He also let me know what I needed done but was very honest with what I needed and what I didn't need to purchase right now.

Only of our units went out and Shumate sent someone out the next day. A part had to be ordered but the technician was able to get things going until the part arrived. One small thing, I scheduled the part replacement for the morning and when I called around 11 for an update was told it had been scheduled for afternoon. Not sure what happened there but the same person we had before arrived shortly after noon and got the part replaced. We'll use this company again and will request the same person every time. He explained what was wrong in a way that was easy to understand and it was obvious he knew what he was doing.

I called out for service on Monday and was told that the first service available was for between 12-4 on Tuesday. The technician did not arrive until close to 6 pm and when he checked the site, he determined that it was a faulty fuse inside the condenser but he did not have the part in his truck - he had just used the last one. He said it would take at least one business day to order. I told him that I needed the power. It was an emergency. I had a film crew shooting on site all day the following day. I asked him if I could go and get the part. He told me that Home Depot carried the part but that it was not the company policy to go and purchase parts at Home Depot. Apparently, the company's motto is policy over customer service. I asked the technician if I could talk with his manager and he refused and was told to leave the job site.

My 9-year old heating system was not blowing hot air and I was told that a refrigerant recharge (I have a heat pump) would be too expensive and they wouldn't do it. Shumate recommended that I replace the entire system and provided me with an estimate of $11,244 for a new system. No attempt was made to determine which components of my current system were failing.

They have fantastic service. They are prompt and courteous. It went very well.

They came out within a few days of our non-emergency call. the repairman was a little late. Dispatch called to advise me. The technician explained all options and considerations so that we know what was done, why it was necessary and what to plan for in future. He worked quickly and didn't complain about the crawl space. He carefully explained costs and made sure I could see the applied discount.

We have a contract with them and they come and inspect our unit every year and fix anything that is wrong with it. We spent $900 for a part the last time that they came out but everything is working great now. They are always very nice and they always come early which makes me happy.
