Description of Work: Failed to show up for an appointment to address my aprilaire dehumidifier. I will hire someone else considering their failure. First time I called I received a guy who I asked if my equipment was under warranty. He was vague and gave me the impression he would charge me even if it was in fact under warranty. I would classify these folks as high sales, low customer service. Good luck if you choose these folks. BTW I have ~ $35,000 in equipment. 3 total hvac systems and 1 central dehumidifier. Sean

Description of Work: We had to purchase a new system for our house. Shumate was fantastic throughout the process. While their bid was not the lowest bid, every aspect of the process led us to trust them and believe a "deal" was to work with Shumate. Thus far, we have not been disappointed in our decision.

Description of Work: We returned from vacation to discover that one of our A/C units was no longer blowing cool air. We had a local friend check out the unit, and he advised that the coolant level was very low, but there were no obvious signs of a leak. Suspecting it was more than our friend could handle I began to research companies on Angie's list. After selecting Shumate, we were promptly contacted by a technician who quickly identified the issue as being a coil leak in the unit. I asked MANY questions to determine the proper next steps. I decided to plan ahead in the event we finish our basement in the next 3 years. After asking the right questions we came up with a plan to replace the coil and external condenser that increased our capacity by .5 tons which would cover the basement area when needed. Shumate presented me with a quotation, and contract, and we proceeded. They sent a crew the following day that were extremely professional, and hard working. The install was completed quickly without issues. It may cost a little more than average,but it is so good to complete without issues, or headaches. Thanks Shumate!

Description of Work: Best service ever! I called on a Saturday and they answered immediately. He gave me two options - come out that day for a little more money or wait till Monday at the regular rate. We elected to wait till Monday. The tech came out on time and diagnosed the problem. He told me the cost which was pretty significant. Then, he asked me how old my house was. It was built in 2008 and he said the air conditioner should still be under warranty. I did not have the paperwork but he said don't worry, they can look it up. He did and I ended up paying about $200 versus $500-700 without the warranty. He had to order the part. It came in in about 2 days. I was at work but he came out and installed the part. He also emailed me the receipt and arranged for me to call in and pay when I got off work. I had the best experience with Shumate and I won't hesitate to call them agin if needed.

Description of Work: I requested a quote on a new A/C-Furnace/Heat Pump and hot water heater in my home, as they are all 17 years old. They had an appointment to come out Satruday morning between 8-Noon. No one showed up and no phone call, I sent an email and called asking what was going on and still no response. I waited at home all morning for them.

Description of Work: I paid for 1 year service contract for 2 Systems. Technician was very professional and provided me with a lot of information about my HVAC system. Replaced an ignitor on one system which added another $89 dollars to cost ( glad I had an Angie's coupon for 50% off or it would have been $139 to replace a $20 part). The technician also provided recommendations to make my system last longer; however some of these are simple to do on my own and I can save myself some cash. Overall the service was excellent. the the price markup on parts is unbelievable. Also I believe the sales person on the phone quoted me one price $196.00 for the 2 systems for one year service but when the work was complete the price was $274. Make sure you write down the quote you are given over the phone and the name of the person you are talking too.

Description of Work: I requested a service technician come out to repair my digital, programmable thermostat. I called on Thursday morning at 9:30 am and the dispatcher informed me that a service technician would be at my house between 3-5pm. At 5 pm I had not heard anything from Shumate so I called and the dispatcher informed me that the technician was running behind on a call and had another job to complete before he was able to come to my house and he would now arrive between 5-6 pm. The technician, Mike, arrived around 6 pm. He was very friendly and quickly determined that my thermostat had simply stopped working all together (as I had suspected since it would not respond to anything, pressing buttons, resetting, changing batteries, etc.) and that he would need to replace it with a new one. Mike told me prior to installing the new thermostat that it would cost $79.99 for the service fee and $150 for the new thermostat. I asked him to give me an idea of what it would cost me to purchase a thermostat at a home improvement store and he guessed around $130 and suggested I could find lower quality units for less than that. At that time I informed Mike that I had a $50 coupon through Angie's List, as I had informed the dispatcher that morning, and he jokingly remarked, "We don't take those." Not knowing his personality, I replied, "You have to, I already spoke with the dispatcher and he confirmed it was applicable." He responded that he was only joking and completed the job. As he was calculating my bill he did remark that the company used to only give $20 off coupons and how he was surprised they would give so much off for customers. Needless to say, he did give me kind of a hard time about the coupon, but he was friendly and completed the job and made sure my heater worked before he left.

Description of Work: Shumate installed a dual AC and one furnance for me. I had used them at a prior house and they did a great job for me ten years ago. The salesman went thru the house first - to check any for changes needed for proper installation of the new units ( electrical work, duct work, additional vents, etc.) .( BTW - this was the same salesman I had 10 years ago.) Then he went over his recommendations for my house. The per unit price was actually less than 10 years ago and of course the new units are more energy efficient. All of the people arrrived on time and completed the installation in four hours, as promised. No additional costs for unseen problems. I would highly recommend them to anyone. I feel like I got a fair deal at a fair price by a firm that will be around when you need them.

Description of Work: After a new roof was installed, we had a very strong ("smelly sock") odor in part of house when the air conditioning was running. They came out to check the unit to make sure there was not a HVAC issue. The serviceman was very patient with me and talked to the Jeff in the office. He found that a panel on the furnace had follow down and was letting the heat/odors from the attic go through the house. He replaced it and told me to run the fan for 24 hours to help replenish the cleaner air. Everytime I have had to discuss an issue with Shumate they have been pleasant, patient and responsible.

Description of Work: My AC unit was dripping water into the base pan and leaked causing some water damage to my ceiling. Called Shumate at 7:00 am this morning and originally they were going to have someone come by the house between Noon and 6pm, but called me back as they had a technician available sooner. The technician was in and out of the house in an hour and a half and took the time to speak with my father over the phone to explain the problem and service to be completed and cost. Also, I didn't have a printer available, but the technician still accepted my $50 coupon for being an Angie's list member.
