+ -1 moreI called Rent-A-Geek and spoke to Larry. Luckily, he specializes in virus removal and had a $99 special going. He also made sure to inform me of the $25 "trip charge" ahead of time. He was able to come to my home in the evening so I didn't have to take off work. He called just before my appointment time to confirm that I was home and ready for his visit. He cleaned up my system very quickly, installed AdAware and Spybot, showed me how to use them to keep from getting re-infected, and explained that certain sites that claim to fight spyware actually ARE spyware! He was very personable, did not try to talk over my head, and I enjoyed visiting with him - so did my dog! Apparently, he has been doing this for years and he and his wife finally started an official business last year. I highly recommend him.
Description of Work: I had a zillion pop-ups preventing me from working on my computer and it was getting really slow. I mentioned it to a co-worker and he said he had a guy that had been helping him out for years off and on. Also said the guy was easy to talk to and would not try to take advantage of my ignorance!
