Deferred maintenance in older homes is always a challenge. Intown Craftsmen understands this very well. They get it with older homes. Our 1951 ranch had a lot of issues, some fairly recent and some dating back to 1992. It was time to fix it all for the future. The ceiling damage in a bedroom was challenging repair for the painter who did a superb job adding the drywall into the original plaster/masonite ceiling. He also did all sorts of caulking without being told. Finding windows that fit these old houses and making it work is an unparalleled skill. The carpenter managed to repair the water and rot damage without removing the window/door complex as was first thought, which kept the costs down. All the team members were friendly, engaging, polite, professional, and punctual. Painting was precise and the color consultant was a big help. Great colors and refreshed paint colors do a lot for a home with a once neglected interior. There's still a room to be painted and other work, but these guys are great.

Russ was very helpful! The process is ongoing, but he answered questions well after business hours and the possibility that might not gain any personal business for the effort (meaning if we don't buy the house, there wouldn't be any work to do.) He was helpful, courteous, and most of all, very patient!! Thanks, and if there is more work, we will update the review.

I received my estimate from Russ about 3 days after that meeting and although it was more than I was able to spend, I was impressed enough with InTown to leave a glowing review anyways. The appraisial Russ sent me was detailed and thorough and had everything listed out line by line, you'd be amazed at some of the stuff Ive gotten. I have interviewed SEVERAL companies throughout this process and was by far impressed the most with InTown. I wish the price would have worked out, but i Highly recommend these guys!!! Thanks TC

They redid our master bath several months ago. We had some problems and they came right out and dealt with issues at no charge. Totally professional and willing to please. even picky and demanding customers.

Slipped on ice and had an emergency operation to reattach tendon. Long recovery anticipated with no ability to access shower that was in tub. Contacted Russ of Intown (whom I had used previously for some remodeling). Asked Russ if there was anyway I could get a walk in shower in the next couple of days. Russ and crew got right to it and 4 days later they had torn out tub and installed a walk in shower with grab bar and temporary seat. Perfect and very much needed and appreciated!!! Plan to have Intown back in the future to permanently remodel the bathroom.

The Intown guys were great to work with. Everyone we interacted with was very professional, and we were very comfortable having them in our home. They were comfortable working in our older home, even though some other contractors had hemmed and hawed about working with cast iron plumbing, etc. Would definitely call on them again for our next remodel.

The best! The project started and ended on time and the workmanship far exceeded what we could have ever imagined. This project required creative thinking and Joe and Phil were on it.

They installed the water heater in 2013. Recently there was a flood that caused the pilot light to go out. When I hired another company to come out to fix this, the new company discovered some things were not done correctly at installation. They stated the old water heater would never have passed code and was not safe and was never inspected according to law. Also, he had a disagreement with the workmen and the workmen put a lien on my property.

We are very pleased with how the job turned out! The floor plan is a lot more open and enjoyable now. Joe and Phil did a great job, and were very friendly and accommodating to us. Joe even lit the hot water heater pilot light for us just to help us out. Russ, the owner, quoted is a price that was the best of 3 different estimates, and they were able to start the job the earliest. When we changed our mind about the size and exact location of the opening, Russ was very accommodating and easy going. They were able to meet our needs and complete the work in a timely manner. Throughout the entire project, Russ and Jeff, the office coordinator were very easy to get in touch with. We are so glad they could squeeze is in so we could move in and enjoy our new home before Christmas!

Nice to work with, completely trustworthy and caring but we would have liked more help with design. Job expected to take 6 weeks, took much longer. There was always a reason why things didn't get done on time. I suspect their work load during our project, had outstripped their ability to manage properly.

From the start Russ and Jeff were professional, energetic, and have a "can do" attitude. For all of the services provided, they had the best price from the other contractors who gave me quotes. They work with an entire crew who are skilled and experienced that get the job done in a timely manner. Russ also provided different suggestions that were great ideas that I used through out the project. He also suggested a place for my kitchen and bathroom countertops, and I am very happy with the results. Overall, I was thrilled with the outcome of my town home. I would suggest using them to everyone I know, because if you don't, you are truly missing out on a great experience.

Company is set up to be responsive to customers with an office manger, Jeff, coordinating initial meeting for a quote and scheduling work to be done. The owner, Russ, comes out to provide the quote with a repair mentality instead of more expensive replace mantra. The work being done, baseboards and trim installation, threshold and door repairs, and small set of stairs was superb. Brain took pride in his work and exceeded my expectation in both work preformed and professionalism.

Intown Craftsmen (Russ, Jeff, Francisco, Rick) were a great group to work with on my recent home improvement projects. They are responsive, professional and do good work. I like that they have a range of skills and were willing to take on smaller jobs. They call back, they show up on time, they clean up and they are priced fairly. The drywall repair and painting were completed with high quality (Francisco is awesome). I had the entire downstairs painted and its looks great! I highly recommend them for similar projects.

We had an excellent experience with the team at Intown Craftsmen. They responded to our request for an estimate within a few days. We immediately felt very confident with Russ. He provided us his thoughts and suggestions but never tried to push his opinions on us. We had some delays getting started due to weather problems, and there was a delay in our tile, but the project was finished in about 3 weeks. The guys doing the work, Phil and Joe, were great and we felt very comfortable having them in our home. They really did an excellent job, and were very professional and dedicated. At every step along the way, Russ and his team were easy to work with, accommodating, and trustworthy. Most importantly, our new bathroom is beautiful, exceeding our expectations, and we couldn't be happier with it. Would definitely recommend Intown Craftsmen and would contact them for future work- big or small.

Russ and Jeff, as well as his team of handy man, electricians, painters and plumbers made all the repairs / paint jobs listed here. The were very helpful, punctual, came out right away to give me an estimate for the work. The work was easy to schedule and I did not have to wait to have the work done. All the guys were easy to work with and communicate with about exactly what I wanted. They were honest and professional and I even left them in my home while I was working / running errands. They supplied all materials except the paint. The painter was very meticulous and made all necessary touch ups I requested with no hesitation. I will definitely use them again and have already referred them to one of my friends who is an Architect. Great Job Intown Craftsman!

It went very well.They were punctual,friendly,hardworking.The service I used previously blew me off when I asked them to replace a very old screen door.Theses folks went the extra mile,taking photos,calling Andersen windows several times and I got anew screen

It was great, I hope my dogs stop breaking windows, but if they do, InTown are my go to guys. I will not hesitate to get them to do any handyman work as I need it.

At first, they came out and were very professional and prompt to give an estimate. We were able to do some work ourselves, so we adjusted the estimate appropriately. At that time, I was informed that they tended to do larger jobs, and now our job was on the small end and would probably be more expensive if we used them. I said that I wanted skilled people to do the work that we needed. They agreed. (This was they sent me numerous emails to solidify what we needed- further leading me to believe they wanted to and would complete our job). We began to try and get a date to do the work. We are waiting for them to do the work so we can rent our rental unit. Every day that the job remains incomplete is lost income for us. They knew this. They kept putting me on hold. Then someone was on vacation. Then they weren't sure. Finally, after more than a month of back and forth organizing (and waiting!), they left me a voicemail to tell me they could no longer do the work before the holiday. They had "big jobs" that needed to be finished like "kitchen remodels". I am frustrated, disappointed, and angry. I am frustrated because I've spent a lot of time going back and forth and deciding on a service provider. Then I'm disappointed because I really liked the gentlemen, they were friendly and seemed trustworthy. I am very angry because I've waited for over a month and have not been able to get income since I was counting on them to do the necessary repairs. Now I am at square one, have lost at least 2 months of rental income, will be losing at least another month of income, and now that it is the week before Christmas, I will have little to no option to do anything until 2015. This is not ok. I would have preferred that if our job was undesirable, too small, or they simply didn't have the time to do it, for them not to lead me on to believe that I could count on them.

We had a good experience with Intown Craftsmen. Jeff Keating responded in a timely manner to any of my calls. It took a bit more time than expected to get an estimate, but I also understand that we had this done during a pretty busy period for them. As our needed repairs weren't urgent, this wasn't much a problem. Regarding pricing, I wasn't able to get a quote from other companies to compare, but they made the needed repairs swiftly and answered any questions I had regarding some other items I may need repaired in the future. I definitely plan to call them first when it comes time to check these items off of my to-do list.

Russ and his team did a worderful job for us. We were looking for a complete modernization of a rental apartment and he really came through. He is very personable and easy to communicate with. We had lots of ideas but he helped us channel them into reality and came up with a thorough project list that we could afford. He also worked around our schedule with trying to get tenants into the place quickly. The quality was very good even though the price was very reasonable. I would use Russ and Intown again both for my own house and rental properties. I really had no complaints at all.

Our 30 year old condo was in desperate need of remodeling and we wanted to start with the hall bath. I interviewed three contractors and chose Intown Craftsman based on their knowledge, confidence and price. Russ Melton was quick to come out and give us an estimate and to start the job on our schedule. His contractors, Phil and Joe, always arrived as scheduled and worked very hard to complete the project on time. They completely gutted the bath, relocated the toilet, installed a new tub and sink and all the mechanicals that went with it, and replaced the wall tile and floor tile. They also painted the room. It was a complete transformation and we love it. No one could have done a better job. We have two other baths to remodel and I have already committed the job to Intown Craftsman.

Up front we were told the repairs could take 2-3 days and it ended up taking about 2 1/2 days. They started the day they promised, too. The roofing was done the first day and everything was well cleaned up afterwards. While there's always going to be some missed nails and old shingles we've found very few. They even cleaned out the flower pots on the patio! The interior work was done over three days. Joe & Phil were very thorough, considerate and remarkably quiet - I was able to work quite easily while they were here. They also closed off the work areas with plastic to minimize dust and took care of our hardwood floors. They did great work - you can't even tell where the problem areas were. They also volunteered to fix the bracket and reinstall it so we could fly our American flag again.

First let me say thank you Angie's list for helping me find the right contractor for me. My first meeting with Russ made me realize we were on the same page as to what I envisioned for this project. Because of my flexible lifestyle, I had the ability to coordinate with Russ' schedule for consulting and picking out cabinets, granite, flooring, fixtures, appliances, etc. And I wanted to have input on all these things....(Of course some of my decisions cost me more money but that was my choice.) As items that were ordered came in, they were inspected and placed in areas of protection until installation. Different professional crews tackled different projects such as demolition and cleaning out cabinets in kitchen, tiling of kitchen and bath, refinishing of floors, etc. and this worked well and kept the overall remodel job on track. I stayed in the house while things were happening but this might not be an easy lifestyle for those with kids or pets. Cooking moved to downstairs while the new kitchen was being constructed and only when the floors were being refinished did I need to vacate for a few days. At the end of the working days the guys were great about cleaning up and leaving me space for getting around. I was impressed with the professionalism of the staff and their helpfulness and understanding on my needs during this upheaval. Be prepared for ordered items to come in late, or broken, or being out of stock... which made some juggling of assignments necessary but for the most part things stayed on track. I was not in a rush and was willing to wait for the right item. I'm so pleased with the outcome of my remodeling project and would recommend Intown Craftsmen to all those who want a unique and well built remodel job. I have an added bonus of knowing a company that I can call on for future home projects both large and small....plus I've made some great friends. Dos: Know your budget; Know your timeline; Communicate with Russ via text mostly; Take advantage of researching materials with Russ as he has a wealth of knowledge; Be sure you have communicated exactly what you want before they cut, order, or paint, etc.; Leave notes with a call back number for questions if you are not going to be there when staff or crew are expected; Ask questions....I learned so much!
