Tenant locked out and had borrowed my key and never gave back (friend & tenant) so we didn't have a spare key. They came within 30 minutes and the service guy was super nice and fast. It wasn't a big job but glad they came quickly. They would have replaced the lock, but I'm fairly handy and did that myself.

I first contacted Decatur Lock and Key through a form on their website to get a quote (I needed a few locks re-keyed and possibly replaced). Someone emailed me back fairly quickly asking for my phone number but didn't provide any other information. I emailed back with my phone number, expecting to get a call back. No one called. Finally I just called them - no one seemed to know what I was talking about or that I had already tried contacting them. Fine- it was annoying, but at this point I was still prepared to keep trying. I got a quote, and the person I spoke to asked me to email him some pictures of the locks before setting an appointment. I wasn't able to write down his email address, but he told me to email the first person who had contacted me. I emailed her back and asked her a follow up question, and asked for the person's email who I had spoken to. Never heard back. I did actually try one more time (called today) but since they couldn't come out for a few days I'm giving up and will take my business elsewhere (ironically, the place I am using is more expensive and can't come for a few days either, but I'd rather give them my business because they were much more responsive and professional). It was extremely frustrating that my emails were ignored. I wish I had just given up on them sooner so I could be done with all this by now.

Carl was fantastic, my friend got locked out of her house and I found him on Angie's list. He arrived about 30 minutes after we called him and performed the work expertly and professionally.

I called one day and the owner came out himself the next morning to do the work. Very quick, professional, and reasonable price.

The day after move-in, the back door would not open. After opening the door, the locksmith told us that the historic mortise lock had been installed from incompatible parts. He removed the offending parts and we have had no problems since. While he was here, I had him re-key another lock.

I requested five keys and they gave me those at no extra charge. I would absolutely use them again.

First there was a scheduling snafu. I thought that we were to wait for a phone call between 8 AM and noon one Saturday and then meet. We had not moved in so we weren't at the address where service was to be performed. Perhaps we were supposed to be waiting there in person, I never figured it out. We rescheduled and had no problem getting a very prompt appointment. The guy was quick, knowledgeable, and clear in his explanations. The price seemed reasonable. Now all the doors have working locks that share the same key. They all seem to be working properly.

I needed all of the deadbolts changed on my house, so took all 11 tumblers in to Decatur Lock & Key. Dave was great - he rekeyed eleven tumblers right away and I was on my way to installing them in 45 minutes. He also ordered in two additional deadbolts to match the rest and had them in 48 hours later. He keyed them to match the other locks as soon as I walked in with the key. All of them work smoothly - no problems at all. The price was better than other places where I inquired, including for the option for them to send someone out to do the installation for you (although I opted to remove and reinstall the tumblers myself). *Correction to first posting to reflect cost of keying 11 tumblers ($110 total) and two deadbolts with matchin keys ($82)

Cedric did a great job on everything. I was very pleased with everything he did. They did what they promised.

It went very well - they came early in the timeframe their office promised, worked very quickly and were courteous and professional. It was a couple days from when I called to when they could come, and fit perfectly in our schedule. Their location and the service mean they'll be my go-to for now on.

Easy -- dropped it off late in the afternoon, picked it up the next morning.

I called the company on Monday, February 22nd. I left a message and my call was returned the same day. I told them the work I wanted done and the employee asked me to provide the numbers and letter on my current key for the locks I wanted replaced so that he would know which locks I needed. He gave me a total estimated price as well as the individual prices for the deadbolts, installation charge, and the trip charge. I asked about the Angie?s List discount, but I was told by the scheduler, ?Oh, they never tell me those kinds of things.? I asked if they were willing to come out on a Saturday, and to my surprise they were. I scheduled the work for Saturday, February 27th for 9:00 AM. The scheduler did warn me that since it was a Saturday appointment, the technician may arrive some time around 9:00, and maybe not at 9:00 on the dot. The technician called to let us know he was on the way, and he arrived a few minutes after 9:00 AM. He was friendly and professional, and was done with the work in about 45 minutes. The final cost was exactly what I was told it would be and there were no surprises. I will definitely call Decatur Lock & Key if I need any more locks replaced.

I called for a estimate describing what was needed. I got a quote that sounded fair. But to my surprise when the tech finished the work it was $20.00 less. What a deal!
