Blue Star Electric

Gary is a cerebral, likable, and low key guy with great technical knowledge and skills. I think of him as a thinking man's electrician. He goes about his diagnostic and repair work in a careful, step-by-step manner. We had a somewhat complex problem, a sudden short circuit in an underground electrical line behind our house of unknown cause. The line had to be replaced. A new 70-foot trench had to be dug and new conduit installed and hooked up. The electrical work had to be coordinated with a trenching crew. Gary's work was excellent, and he always took personal ownership of the problem and its solution. He proceeded systematically and carefully and kept me informed of the status every step along the way. The project took over 2-3 weeks overall, including the digging and the electrical work. It was sometimes difficult and messy but Gary soldiered on, cool and unfazed. His fee was reasonable and fair. We now consider Gary to be our regular electrician for any future projects.

Gary installed can lights in our 1960s ranch. It was a challenging task but Gary did a great job in removing the old fixtures and wiring and then installing the recessed lighting. He was prompt and kept me aware of the job progression. He was meticulous in controlling dust and keeping the work area clean. Highly recommended.

Gary was great! He was early, engaged, and his services were fairly priced. He had to build scaffolding to access lights over a stairwell, and he was meticulous in cleaning after he finished. I would most definitely use Gary and Blue Star Electric again. Very professional and reasonable prices. Gary stayed for several hours to install a new electrical outlet inside my hall closet, which was very tedious and most definitely a hassle. He never complained and was very helpful. Great electrical contractor.

Gary's work is meticulous and thoughtful and he is very trustworthy. The process took a little longer than originally anticipated due to the some of the troubleshooting that was required, but that is to be expected for a home built in the 50's and we didn't have any issues with the extended completion. This was our second experience working with Gary and we would hire him again as well as recommend him to anyone needing an electrician.

He went the extra mile when we found out the remote was defective and he went back with me to the store where we bought it and helped me exchange it. He then installed the replacement fan which works very well. His attention to detail and commitment to getting the job done right was appreciated.

Would not use again or recommend. Said got into a big job and could not get to ours. That is fine--but don't call on a Saturday to cancel for Monday after there is no time to get anyone else when taking off from work to meet the electrician. Hate it when service providers don't provide the service and end up costing me money/time. He did apologize and said he should have called earlier. All I ask is the courtesy to cancel earlier. How hard is that?

I am a past remodeling contractor and can be picky about the work. Gary, with Blue Star, did an excellent job at rewiring our rooms. We live in an 80-year old house that has a number of issues. Gary came in and worked straight through for several days. He was willing to work late if needed. I am extremely pleased with his work, have used for several other small items, and gladly recommend him.

Both Gary and Mike from Blue Star Electric came as recommendations on a local neighborhood mailing list. The jobs were done well, priced very fairly and service was excellent. What I was looking for in an electrician was established experience, quality work, fair price and trust. I got all of that with Blue Star. Over the course of the job, they made recommendations on things that they thought should be looked at, but also told me if I was asking them to do something that wasn't really necessary. I appreciate their honestly and solid recommendations. There are a lot of electricians out there and I know that many of them are good. I'm glad I selected Blue Star and will certainly go back to them in the future if the need arises.

Gary is professional, punctual, experienced and thorough. His workmanship is top notch and he is very respectful of my home, leaving the areas where he worked debris and dust free. I have more items on my list of repairs and I will definitely call Gary and Blue Star to do the job.

Gary came exactly when he said he would come. It took him about 3 minutes to determine the problem. We had had someone else out and they took a great deal of time and couldn't fix the problem. Gary cleaned up and accepted the discount coupon from Angie's list. He even gave me back the coupon to use the next time I needed his services. I have found my electrician!!

Excellently. Gary and Mike are great. We were completely comfortable with them working in the house and coming in and out. They clearly take pride in a job well done and are concerned to do the work in the best possible way. Given the age of the home (almost 70 years), we were especially concerned but they beat all of our expectations. Also were sure to clean up after each bit. We would definitely use them again. Highly recommended. Good price for great service.

They said they would arrive at 8:00 am, and they were sitting in my driveway at 8:00 am on the dot. What they did that I really liked was that they were exactly on time, very friendly, and very professional. They even followed up with me the next day to make sure everything was OK which was great. They told me that if they didn't fix the problem, and if they had to come back, they would not charge me a separate fee. They diagnosed the problem really quickly, fixed it, and said that they were 100% sure that it was fixed, but said to call if it wasn't. They called me the next morning to make sure everything was good, and I informed them I had encountered no further issues with the electrical problem. They did an excellent job and I am actually planning on using them again in the near future.

The latest work Gary completed for me was in response to the inspection report in selling my home. I stressed to Gary that I need the work done quickly to meet our buyer's closing date. Gary was here the next day to give me an estimate for the job. After I okayed the estimate on Saturday, Gary was able to arrange to come Tuesday to complete the job. When he had an opening on Monday, he called and was able to come out to get the work done sooner. Also in response to the inspection report earlier that same day, a contractor suggested we install a sump pump in the basement rather than hooking a new drain into the existing sewer. The contractor specified a new plug be installed to accommodate the pump. Gary made a quick trip for the extra supplies, and was able to complete all of the jobs in one afternoon. Gary was very responsive to my request and able to complete all of my requests including a last minute addition more quickly than I could have hoped for. I felt the price was very reasonable.

They were great. He was wonderful and very good. I had no problems at all with him. They also do air conditioning, so I'm going to use them for that too.

Everything was great! He didn't waste any time, even though he charged by the hour. I wasn't able to be there, and he said to leave a check for 2 hours, which I did. It only took 1 hour, and he left the change for the difference. He really appreciated his honesty.
