Description of Work: I used the services of Above the Hedges because I had a backyard that was very overgrown and I needed to get rid of all the weed and the vegetation. I had some existing plants and a wiry oak the he dug up and replanted. He put down some wood chips and built a small set of stairs and put in a hand rail. He did some work up on the front yard too. He did quite a bit.

Description of Work: I called the owner and started explaining exactly what my project entailed and he basically just interrupted me within the first ten seconds with a very off-putting comment. My introduction started by explaining that “I am a city of Decatur resident” in an attempt to locate the project. Instead of listening he cut me off and just said "congratulations" as if he didn't care where I was calling from. I told him that his response was odd and off-putting and he immediately said that he had three weeks of projects lined up and didn’t have time for the details that I was providing. I immediately told him that I didn't need his service and disconnected. What a disappointing customer service experience. He needs to hire an answering service or administrative assistant that understand how to deal with customers. I would not recommend this company based on my interaction with the owner.

Description of Work: Sounds like a lot of money, but Dennis and his crew cleared years of neglect in one day and dismantled and removed an old shed that was in need of replacement. Dennis had met with me earlier to give me an estimate, confirmed it in writing (in detail) in an e-mail, and charged precisely what we'd agreed on. He and the team filled an entire Dumpster! I'd recommend them without reservation.

Description of Work: Bi-monthly maintenance was performed for $140/mo. The crew was very punctual, like clockwork, but only spent about 30 minutes per visit. Nothing extra was performed without having to ask and when we had criticism or concerns it was always met with resistance or excuses. During the fall season they limit the number of bags to 5, so the leaves pile up until the end. If you use this service, have a detailed contract as there is no flexibility beyond that. We also used him for initial landscaping of the front and back yards. We were frustrated in this experience, as we were charged for plants that Dennis decided we needed and we didn't even want. We tried to give Dennis a chance for close to two years, and are done.

Description of Work: Above the Hedges provides basic lawn service for my averaged size yard, which includes mowing, blowing the clippings, and bagging it up and taking it with them. I pay per visit.
