Amy did a free estimate told us exactly what she would do for us. She made the process very easy. She told us everything we needed to know to give us great results at the end of our project. I found Amy Phillips on Angie's List and also through another painter's recommendation. We needed someone who could match complex paint work that had worn over time, especially around the knobs and in areas where water would touch the paint. This wasn't a simple job of applying one-coat of paint; the cabinet doors and drawers had a base coat, a second, light antiquing coat and fine stenciling around certain features of the woodwork. Amy made an initial visit to determine the extent of the painting and offered two choices, try to match the existing paint color and highlights, or repaint the entire kitchen and master bath. We both agreed that trying to match would be difficult, but worth trying. She made about five trips to work on the job and was very careful to explain what she was going to do before starting each day. We really didn't think she would be able to match certain cabinet doors due to aging over about 10 years and because of the complexity of the original paint. However, we look at everything she did and now we have a hard time remembering which ones she worked on. By recommending and taking this approach, Amy saved us several thousand dollars and major disruption of doing all cabinets/drawers in both rooms..

We wanted add two additional large cabinet doors without having to refinish all the surrounding wood work. All of the wood work is antique glazed so the challenge was to custom mix a glaze finish to match. Before calling Amy I made several unsuccessful attempts to match the finish. Amy was able to match the finish and did a great job of finishing the new doors.

She was a lifesaver. She corrected the cabinets that had been destroyed by a contractor. She is a designer and she used that expertise to fix my cabinets. Everything looks perfect. People now comment on how it changes the look of my house.

Excellent. Amy was very experienced and knowledgeable. She was able to mix and match the paints without the help of the previous painter's input. The final outcome was excellent.

At first, i thought the price was high but when I listened to what she does, I was impressed. She sanded, triple painted and applied three coats of finish. We used her design ideas and the vanities have come out GREAT. I had all wood vanities that were showing age but now that Amy has finished them, they look new and enhance my bathrooms. I work she did was first rate and should last a long time. Thanks Amy.

We are very pleased with the effect that has transformed our fireplace surround and hearth. Prior to the work that was completed, the fireplace just blended into the room. It was a dark brick with a brown grout so it was hard to see any detail. Now with the texture and wash, it has brightened up the room and when you come into the room now, you actually see the fireplace. It has become the focal point in the room and we are very pleased with the overall outcome. Our goal was definitely achieved, great job. Also, the experience from the initial contact for an estimate was first rate. Everything was done on time and with great care and professionalism. I would highly recommend this company and we have quotes for other projects in our home.

Amy showed us her sample boards, and made up a new sample board for us to show us variations of the base color with copper and gold inlays, and a tobacco glaze. She did an excellent job of masking all the trim. I'm sure it was a tedious job, with many windows and narrow strips of wall between doors and windows. The overall job took 3 or 4 days of work. We love the result and Amy was a joy to work with. The final cost was more than the original estimate because we requested both copper and gold inlays, with a tobacco glaze on top, so it took several more steps to complete the work.
