Everything was perfect! This was my first time calling Veteran Electric of America. I was thrilled by his immediate response to my email and the timeliness of getting an appointment. I had saved up several homeowner issues, and wanted an experienced electrician for the electrical items. Chris exceeded my expectations for responsiveness and helpfulness. He was the one who noticed I did not have a whole house surge protector and explained in simple, concrete terms why it mattered. He was very knowledgeable and generous with his insight into electrical issues in response to my questions. He worked efficiently, provided an itemized receipt and was customer friendly the whole time. Overall, Chris delivered great value in his service and pricing, which included an Angie's List deal for a consultation and $ off on service. I give Veteran Electric of America my highest recommendation, an A+!
Description of Work: Purchased necessary electrical items and (a) installed whole house surge protector, (b) installed double flood light with dusk-til-dawn photo cell on back porch, (c) replaced broken speed control switches for 2 different ceiling fans, (d) replaced 2 starters for under cabinet lights in kitchen.

Since I had already purchased the fixture2c I assumed that the payment for the Angie's list special would take care of most of the cost of a 10-15 minute replacement. When the technician showed me his brochure and menu of prices covering everything they could potentially do, I was very surprised that they had my fixture replacement cost at 249.00, which is quite excessive in my opinion. My experience with companies that use this menu approach is that they lure you with specials and then have no flexibility with pricing. I could have had the same job completed by another Angie's list A rated provider for 75.00 if I had been able to wait 2-3 weeks which we couldn't do.

Looking at your invoice, it clearly shows that we only charged you $109 for installation of your light fixture in your pantry. Unfortunately we cannot drive around Atlanta performing electrical work for free. It would be impossible to pay for insurance, gas, licensed technicians. I'm sure if you call any of the major electrical companies, you will be quite surprised to find out that our prices are exactly half or theirs. You called our company, we were able to accommodate your next day request, we sent two licensed technicians to your home, we even deducted 15% because you did purchase the fixture, they changed out your old light, installed your new florescent fixture, cleaned up, and then left. Neither of them attempted to upsell you on a single thing. Yes, it shouldn't take two master electricians longer than 15 minutes to do all of that. Your complaint is that you could have found somebody that could fit you in a month, in order to save you $34?

This technician was punctual and professional. He spotted an electrical problem that would have voided a warranty- and jeopardized an insurance claim as one of my fuses was not the proper type. The whole house surge protector will keep me from having to replace the circuit boards in my refrigerator and other major appliances- including my electric car charger. (I've already replaced the fridge circuit board twice in the past ten years at a cost of $200 each time. Never again.) This was an excellent investment, and the SECOND time that I have depended on Veteran Electric for services.

We thank you so much for your kind words. Yes, the smartest investment that a person can make for their electrical system is installing a whole home panel mounted surge protector. You are a pleasure to serve, and our technician enjoyed the conversations about great BBQ restaurants :)

It went well. Was able to fit me in on my schedule at short notice. Explained what he was doing. Not the fault of the installer, but the prices seem very high for just adding an outlet one foot from the electrical panel. The prices should be based on difficulty and length of run, not a flat rate. I provided the electrical gfci outlets, box, and plate. He provided a 20 amp breaker which was a nice gesture(Since I had purchased the wrong one), but sort of expected for the high price.

Work was performed in a very professional manner. These guys take the time to explain what they are doing, along with an understanding of why their costs may be a little higher than the average electrician. They rewired my main panel to bring it up to code, and showed me what the previous subcontractor had done that would likely have resulted in an electrical fire had it not been addressed soon. I paid a lot more for their work than expected, considering I had them focus on much more than the initial outlet installation I had intended, but I'm happy with the work and would hire them again in the future for any other electrician needs.
Description of Work: Added a few internal and external outlets, and then added a sub-panel and fixed electrical panel issues that were caused by the last contractor hired by the previous owner

In my description, I took a pic of what I wanted, which was 3 lights installed in the kitchen and the company scheduled the appointment. I used the discount on Angie's list, but was provided an estimate until electricians were at the house ready to work. It was a few hundred more than I expected, but I allowed work to commence anyway. The manager proceeded to go to my electrical box and he pointed out what he called some bad electrical work in the main fuse box and upsold me on a sub box for another $400-500 bucks. The work was done professionally, but the total cost was 3-4 times what it should have been. They gave me an estimate of $1200 bucks for another 3 lights in the kitchen and another Angie's list company just installed them for $200 bucks. Six times cheaper than this company. So, I may have got taken for a ride on the initial job.
Description of Work: Installed 3 light outlets over granite counter top for $450.00. Also upsold me on a sub electrical box for another $500.0.

We are terribly sorry that you feel this way. I can assure you that you did not get "taken for a ride" as you say. I'm sure that if you call any other legitimate electrical company in the city, you will find that installing a switchleg, dimmer, 3 pendant lights on a blank ceiling over a counter top, installing a new sub panel, relocating the circuits that were overloading your old panel, and running a dedicated outlet below your panel for $900 is quite a fair deal. As far as another company offering a special to install 2 can lights, that is their promotion. I am looking at your estimate currently, and our price clearly states that the job is for 4 recessed lights, the wiring, dimmer, trims and bulbs. You called us on May 14th, we arrived the next morning to do your job, how could that possibly deserve below an A?

Chris was awesome. Not only did he do the above work but he took time to explain to my husband how to properly install a gcfi outlet. My husband had put in four of them, and when Chris tested them, he found two had been improperly installed. He replaced one of them (he even provided the outlet for free) and taught my husband how to replace the other. He was clear and careful in his instructions. He did not rush but really took the time to talk to us and let us know where other gcfi outlets should be added. I would use him in a heartbeat should I need an electrician again.

Chris called me about 20 minutes before coming. He arrived looking professional and ready to do the job. After hearing my experience and concerns, Chris than started to test and observe the fixture. I was glad to hear him say ,"I got it". He took time showing me the reason for my problem and how to correct it. He was very knowledgeable .Chris took pleasure answering all my questions with respect and dignity. I will call him for my next job.

They were fabulous! They were clear and informative. They took the time to find out exactly what we wanted and then explained what our initial idea was and how it wasn't going to work without having a visible cord, and gave us a couple of alternatives on different price points. It was super. They truly worked with us. I have nothing but good things to say about them. Hubby still has to decide between the 3 alternatives that they gave us and what kind of look that he's wanting and how we want it to function. They talked to him on the phone a couple of times he couldn't be here, got his input and sent him pictures on his cellphone. It was just really above and beyond. It was very impressive. He was knowledgeable, clear, concise, and I really liked it. Good job. Well done. They seem to be very reasonable for the amount of work that we are wanting to have done and they came up with some great ideas to make it more attractive. I was not at all unhappy with the pricing. They sketched everything out on an iPad or tablet. It was terrific. I am very impressed so far. We have every intention of moving forward with them. There was no problem with their responsiveness. They came exactly when they said they were going to come. They called me 5 minutes out to say they were about 3-5 minutes away, and they ended up being 3 minutes away.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal for Veteran Electric of America, LLC. They have not actually done the electrical work yet. They just came in to give us a quote and get the job of work, etc.

The Whole Experience was wonderful. We called the company out to look at some concerns that we had because spring was coming and the storms that we usually have here. Chris went over everything with us and took the time to thoroughly explain the surge protection and the other issues that we had and any questions or concerns. We decided to have the sub panel installed to take some of the load off our main panel and also decided to have the surge protection installed to give us peace of mind with the stormy season upon us. While there he also inspected that all our outlets and home were grounded properly. Can not say enough about this company. Would and Will use them again. The Prices were reasonable and peace of mind is invaluable. Great service all the way around. We have found our go to Electrical company..

Me and my wife called Veteran Electric out to our home to address several concerns we were having with our electrical system. We were having problems with the old fluorescent lights in the kitchen and we had outlets in several rooms in the house that were either not working at all or worked intermittently. the Technicians that came out were friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and helped me and my wife understand what the problem with the kitchen fluorescent lighting was and went over the options of getting the problem taken care. We decided to invest a little money into the kitchen lighting and upgrade from the fluorescent to recessed can lights throughout the kitchen and pendant lighting over our island. We couldn't be happier with the results the guys did a great job were impeccable in laying out the lighting and mywife can't believe we lived with the old lighting so long. Dealing with the outlets was a little more tricky and time consuming but after thorough evaluation the guys were able to show us how the connections at the outlets and switches were all coming loose and in some areas the actual insulation on the wiring was actually heating up and burning the insulation. We went ahead and told the guys we'd like to take care of the entire house because we didn't want a larger problem and after seeing the insulation burning it's didn't seem dangerous. While the guys were replacing the outlets and switches they found that our sub panel in the basement had several trouble areas in it including breakers with multiple wires going under a single screw, several improper breakers in the panel, and there was paint in the panel, and that we didnt have whole house surge protection. my wife and I told them to take care of these issues, we don't want anything in the house that is potentially unsafe. Overall I couldn't be happier Veteran Electric, they really took the time to explain and educate me and my wife so we had all the information and options needed to choose what we were going to be happy with and we couldn't be happier. I will always use Veteran electric when it comes to my home and business electrical needs and highly recommend them, top notch company. Amazing job!!!

I had just moved into a newly purchased home when a circuit breaker blew, and would not reset. After trying some DIY, I called one of the larger, highly rated electrical providers on Angie's List, but they were booked solid for a few weeks. They referred me to Chris directly, saying they knew him and he would take good care of me. I called Chris, and he responded very promptly. We discussed the problem, and he agreed to come out on a Saturday morning to help. He showed up at the agreed time, and got to work. The job turned out to be more complicated than either of of us thought, and Chris's trouble-shooting ended up taking a couple of hours. He expertly dissected the complicated and complex circuit (house built in '76, with many items added to the circuit over the years) until the finding the problem in one of the last places one would expect...the short was within the hanging light fixture in the foyer, that had been installed and active in the house for many years. We suspect the movers jostled it, causing the problem. Chris fixed it, and charged me what we originally discussed, even though he spent much more time than expected in the house. He was a great guy, and didn't mind that I watched and discussed the process with him, so that I could gain a small bit of knowledge. Chris is also retired from the Air Force, so it is great to support a former member of our armed forces. Thanks Chris! I will definitely use you again for any electrical needs!!
