RooterPLUS!

It started out so great! We called and someone was out within the hour. From there it started to go downhill. The guy had to call another guy in to make sure the big wood beam in the garage wasn't load bearing. I'm not a contractor but even I KNEW IT WASN'T. Long story short: We had to pay over $2100 for the installation. At the time, I just accepted it because I panicked and had water all over my garage. I called my father who lives several hundred miles away -- he manages a maintenance shop and informed me I was being ripped off -- completely. He called Rooter Plus numerous times on my behalf. The CS Manager is on vacation, she will call you back, call her back tomorrow, she is out sick and finally was told "sorry". We bought the service membership so the whole thing would be $200 cheaper! Here is the breakdown for services: Member / Nonmember Install water heater, from short to standard: $1498.57 / $1798.28 Remove barrier (basically big wood column held by 3 nails) $74.96 / $89.95 Service Agreement $198.00 (so we could use the discounted pricing!) Replace broken valve ($10 retail at HomeDepot) $$362.96 / $427.01 Total: $2134.49 / $2315.24 So not only did they make that from me, they also got reimbursed from the manufacturer. This is for a water heater that was UNDER WARRANTY. You tell me. Was I ripped off? I've learned my lesson with this company. I've blogged about this, told all of my friends and neighbors...and I hope this helps you to RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN.

Not well.

This was the best experience I've ever had with a plumbing company and the individual plumber they sent out, Ryan. We woke to find our dishwasher had leaked all over the kitchen while it had been set to run and also saw that water was sitting in the bottom rather than draining out, so it looked like a plumbing problem. I called Rooter Plus, and the person I spoke with was pleasant, and competent. She called me back with the name of the person who would be working with me and gave me a 1 hour time estimate. Within 45 minutes Ryan was at my door. He was incredibly nice as well as professional--an additional bonus was that he was clean! We discussed what had happened and he took off the bottom part of the dishwasher while it ran so that he could tell if it was a plumbing or a part problem. Within five minutes he had the problem diagnosed. It was not a plumbing problem. He gave me several places I could call, including the one he uses for his own home, and also told me how to fix it myself if I wanted to. Perhaps the most surprising thing that happened was that there was no charge for the time or gas spent on coming to diagnose the problem! I tipped him, though he tried to decline it saying that it really wasn't necessary, but I insisted. A couple of hours after he left, my husband called and asked me whether he had looked at the water that hadn't drained since that was why he thought it was a plumbing issue--and this is why I thought my husband should have been home to talk to the plumber. I wasn't sure if he had, so I called the company back to let them know I had a question. I spoke with a different, but equally sweet, person who took my message and said she'd pass it to Ryan who was "in the field". Within 5 minutes Ryan was on the phone with me and was able to answer my question and explain why the water wasn't draining and why that still wasn't a plumbing problem. To be fair, I didn't have any work done by them. But I am so impressed with their service that I will not hesitate to call them when I have, or think I have, another plumbing problem. And I will highly recommend them to any friends of mine.

There responce time is under an hour . Very knowlagble and Professional. They Charge by the Job not by the hour. Free estaments no/charge for comming out for estament. They seemed to me to be a bit pricey but garantee there work for a year. Cleaned up the bathroom after Job was done.

This summer all work was done very promptly, professionally, & thoroughly, with suggestions (but no pressure) for possible future needs, & a coupon was included with very helpfully detailed paperwork for an additional discount (to that already provided by the service contract) on the next job. Last fall the original burst pipe replacement was revealed to not having been adequately sealed where it entered the house when the extreme rains began causing some minor leakage into our basement, but the company immediately dispatched a crew to competely take care of the problem, which has not recurred. The entire emergency procedure was quite costly (about $6,000), so the company agreed to hold my check until I could transfer funds to cover it; there was a miscommunication in their office, however, which resulted in the check initially being presented before it should have been according to our agreement, but the company manager stepped in as soon as informed of my potentially compromised predicament & made sure I was not subject to any additional charges. I've been increasingly impressed that the company is constantly trying to identify any customer service difficulties & improve their performance to bring it up to par with their plumbing work, which is generally excellent--this makes their somewhat higher charges than I've seen with cheaper (but definitely less competent!) plumbers much more palatable.

The work was done well, but they charged way too much for what was done. They also wanted to charge me an extra $7000.00 to install a new main sewer line (mine needed to be replaced). I had the work done for less than half that amount. They are good if you need emergency work done, but if you have time to wait save yourself the money and use someone else.

They came out to repair the furnace. They thought a part was needed to fix it but they did something and it started working. I think the vents were closed, so the heat wasn't able to escape. They were good.

Called Rooterplus for a couple of leaky faucets. A technician arrived in less than 1 hour. They fixed the problems and did a free home inspection. The technician found a running toilet downstairs that was costing me money. He fixed that as well. He also made me a PLUS customer and sold me an HVAC service agreement. The tech was clean cut and polite. I will call them again for any plumbing problems in the future.

I chose them because they offered a great warranty over other companies. They gave me an estimate the same day and were able to replace the pipe the next day. They installed an additional shut-off valve for me next to the house. I was so happy with them, I sign up for a service contract on an annual basis with them.

Due to a prior service agreement, I had to wait two hours for the original contracted company in their attempt to locate someone to do the repair work on a weekend. Once they were unable to locate anyone, I was free to look for my own service provider. After speaking to Rooter their tech was here within 45 minutes of my call. He provided very good service, coming out quickly enough to avoid warped floorboards and setting up for the replacement of a new unit the following day, which lead to a quick install. I have kept his card every since.

I'VE BEEN BATTLING BACK AND FORTH WITH THEM ABOUT THE COST AND WITH THE SERVICES THAT I NEED. THE COUNTY CHECKED IT OUT AND SAID THAT I DIDN'T NEED $4500 WORTH OF WORK AS THEY HAD QUOTED. THE WORK THEY DID WAS NOT A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE SEPTIC IS BUBBLING UP IN MY YARD. THEY HAVE NOT BEEN WILLING TO RESOLVE THIS.

WHILE EVERYONE AT ROOTER PLUS WERE VERY POLITE, I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN NOR RECOMMEND THEM. 1)THEY GAVE ME NOTHING IN WRITING PRIOR TO THE COMPLETION OF THE JOB. I WAS REQUIRED TO SIGN A WORK AUTHORIZATION FORM BUT DID NOT RECEIVE A COPY OF IT AFTER I SIGNED IT. 2) I DUG THE HOLE BESIDE THE WATER METER WHERE THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM TO HELP FACILITATE A QUICKER ASSESSMENT AND POSSIBLY REDUCE THE COST OF THE REPAIR. 3) I RECALL AN ORAL QUOTE OF $275-$300. TO REPAIR THIS LEAK. WHEN THE WORK WAS COMPLETED, THE FINAL COST WAS $380!!! THEY CLAIM THAT $380 WAS THE QUOTE FROM THE VERY BEGINNING! 4) THE QUOTE WAS GIVEN ON A MONDAY WITH THE PROMISE TO DO THE JOB THE NEXT DAY, TUESDAY. IT WAS COMPLETED ON FRIDAY AFTER THREE DAYS OF EXCUSES. REMEMBER, THEY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO DIG THE HOLE OR FILL IT BACK UP!!!
