HERITAGE HOME MAINTENANCE LLC

We had hail damage during a massive hail storm in 2008. We went with Heritage because he was a local business in the community and had been in business for many years. Unlike all the "hail vagabonds" that flock the neighborhoods when these things happen we felt best to go with someone respected in the community. In 2006 we had Gutter Helmets installed on our home that cost us $3,500. While we both work during the day we were not here when the roof was installed but it's pretty apparent now that the gutters were not removed during installation of the room. After a couple of months of installation and a heavy rain we noticed the gutters were not draining properly. We called Heritage out and they said there was a few shingle debris caught but should be fine. After we noticed that it wasn't much better we called Gutter Helmet (these have a lifetime warranty) to come out. After they came out and looked they saw we had a new roof put on an we did not know that if you have a new roof put on Gutter Helmet rep should be notified or it voids the warranty - Well bad news for us. However, the gutters were moving some of the rain through, however not all of it and we did not realize how much was sitting in the gutters until recently. This year we had to do some repairs to the house. We noticed we had some fascia boards and soffits rotting but did not know the extent until we had a contractor come out to make repairs and also get our house painted. Once the contractor started removing the gutters he had difficulty getting them off. He called me at work and said "We have HUGE problems"! It took him almost an hour to remove one piece of the gutter due to the nails that were nailed into the gutters! In one section there were like 20 nails! So basically when the roofers put on the new roof they nailed the roofing nails into our gutters. All of the gutters are destroyed because as he moved along it was done in several of the gutters. The contractor also discovered that the rubber on the vents of the house was caulked keeping the house from breathing properly. We had to replace at least 75% of the fascia and soffits. More than we anticipated. We also discovered on some parts of the house that they shingled over the old shingles and the flanges were not properly installed so that water would drain off the roof. My husband called John Ingram at Heritage and told him what had happened and he got very defensive and unprofessional but told my husband to send pictures so he could see the damage. We sent an email with attachments and gave him 48 hours or so to review. When he never called by husband called him back and he told us he would not come out and review and said we couldn't prove he did it and couldn't believe we were "coming after him" after 5 years. I then proceeded to contact my insurance company and asked if they had any of the documentation from the roof claim and the appraiser sent me everything they had left in the file. I also have a copy of the roof warranty from manufacturer GAF-Elk Corporation, Smart Choice Shingle Warranty where he signed that he installed. Of course this warranty is void because there is no warranty on poor workmanship! I also had Gutter Helmet to give me an estimate on replacing all the gutters. I sent another email to John on August 7th with the attachments above and another picture of the pile of trashed gutters laying i in my front yard and asked him to reconsider coming out and looking at the mess we had! We have heard nothing from him to date. My house is almost complete with a little more painting to do and some last minute things and all I would like from Heritage is some sort of compensation on the damage. We had to go with a different gutter this time because the Gutter Helmets are not in our budget not to say the additional materials and labor that we were not prepared for to get our home back in shape. John Ingram is the owner of the company. Even if things go wrong, he stands behind his work. When I went to another company for my roof, I had to call John to come and look at my roof. John actually came to tell them what was wrong with my roof. He goes above and beyond for me. I would use them in the future again.

I have known John for several years, so when I found out that I had extensive rot damage in my roof and siding of my home- I went straight to him. Out of the people I had estimate the work, John was by far the lowest- and not just as a personal favor. His team came quickly to repair my roof and siding before further damage could be done. John also brought to my attention that there might be interior damage- and sure enough there were water spots in my home office and dining room. The Heritage team was very respectful of my home; they got the job done quickly and quietly. The painting quality was phenomenal, I couldn't be more pleased with the work done! I will be contacting them again in the spring to re-stain my back porch and renew my exterior paint!
