The shower started leaking into the basement five years after the installation. The shower was improperly installed without a proper shower pan. Mike Golota used and still uses RedGard as a shower pan, which is a liquid sealant, instead of the industry standard use of a CPE waterproof membrane. The exact problem happened to my in-laws remodeled tile shower in almost the same time frame that was remodeled by Mike Golota five years prior. When contacted about the issue Mike Golota blamed house settling and cracked grout for the leaking shower pan not the lack of proper materials such as CPE membrane. Mike Golota told my inlaws the exact same thing when their tile shower started leaking three years ago. Both our houses were built in the 1960s, any settling would have occurred long ago. Mike also added that it didn't matter either way because it was way of out warranty and he won't pay for any repairs. Mike Golota and Golota Building Services should not be trusted to work on your home because he does not stand behind his work.

When the work was done, it wasn’t what we had agreed to. We ended up paying for an extra countertop. His prices are reasonable. He is a trustworthy guy.

Exceedingly well. The project was completed faster than we anticipated and the finished product is better than we envisioned. The level of professionalism exhibited by Mike and his crew was top notch. We will certainly recommend him to our neighbors and friends for future projects. We could not be any more satisfied and are glad we chose to go with him.

Well first off, the entire process took about twice as long as it was supposed too. This is not good when your living space and kitchen can’t be used. Second, my floors had to be refinished more than one time because I’d sent Mike a picture of really horrible patch jobs where holes in my wood floor were evident and he didn’t address it until he did his walk through., where he himself said it looked like garbage. This resulted in me and my family having to pay for extra nights in a hotel while it was fixed and the floors were refinished again. Mike is not good at communicating what a customers expectations should be based on his quoted prices. As you’ll see in the pictures most would not pay for this type of horrible work. The caulking cracked so many times I had to keep calling them back out. I’ve had leaks from my upstairs bathroom and kitchen. Make sure he understands your expectations and get it in writing.

Golota Building Services did an excellent job on our total renovations of our kitchen and master bathroom. Their workmanship was of the highest quality. Everyone who works for or with GBS (Mike (owner), Kirk, Aaron, cabinet maker, floor guys, countertop people, etc.) did excellent work, paid greatest attention to detail, were extremely respectful, friendly, would go out of their way to do anything we wanted (within reason), and had the greatest customer service. The custom cabinets and countertops are absolutely gorgeous. We are so thrilled with our new kitchen and master bathroom. It turned out BETTER than we could have ever dreamed, and that's a lot to say for us since we are perfectionists. We would very highly recommend Golota Building Services to anyone and we will be using them again in the next year or so for our two other smaller bathroom renovations.

I have used Golota Building Services twice now, once was a tile job for my master bath and most recently for my kitchen. My experience with the company was fantastic, both the owner and the men who work for him are extremely skilled at their trade. Kirk, the gentleman who tiled my kitchen floor was incredible, his attention to detail amazed my wife and I. When I was living in Connecticut I had top quality Italian tile installers from New York City do some work for us, Kirk is just as good. Just as important as the installation is the personality of the men performing the work, Mike and Kirk are great people who actually care about the satisfaction of the customer. My wife and I were home the entire time and bothered Kirk constantly, he never seemed irritated or annoyed when we wanted a certain tile moved or questioned something. My boys loved coming home from school and talking to the installers, they explained what they were doing and engaged them, just good honest hard working people. I plan on using them again for a small bathroom makeover.

Original work seemed fine but within a few months had a leak in my kitchen ceiling from the master bath. Came out several times to determine problem. Once it was determined that the shower pan needed to be replaced they quit taking our calls. We have had to find another tile company. We will have to pay for the repairs when it should be under warranty through Golata builders.

First of all, I could not have afforded nearly as much work (shower only) if I had hired one of the first 2 contractors I had gotten estimates from. Mike was very professional and easy to communicate with. The crews did an excellent job cleaning up each day after work was done. I did have to point out a couple flaws in the work done, but these were quickly addressed without hesitation. The final result looks even better than I had hoped! The only thing I feel could have been better was the length of time for all work to be completed. I'm guessing the minor delays (maybe 5-6 days total) were a result of having to coordinate with multiple subcontractors. I absolutely recommend Mike and the guys he works with, and would not hesitate to use them again.

It went great! Aaron did a magnificent job. He tiled 2 bathroom floors and a laundry room floor. In one bathroom I had him add tile molding. He was meticulous and the floors look great.

Very happy with Mike and his crew. They were professional, on time, and provided quality workmanship. Thrilled with the results of our little kitchen remodel. Small changes made a big difference in the appearance! We will definitely be using them again for future projects.

I regret that I did not take"before" pictures because words cannot adequately convey the conversion of space. The change is so dramatic and fabulous that friends and family are speechless and cannot believe it is the same house. Mike is an artist. He does much of the work himself- often alone. My kids called him the wizard.He always has great suggestions and was willing to do anything that I wanted.Everything exceeded my expectations and I was always pleasantly surprised with Mike's estimates- which he completely stuck to, as long as I did not add on, he had absolutely no hidden fees. The cabinet company he uses is the best! They in fact suggested a different and much better lay out than I had originally suggested. I am so happy that I went with the suggestions of the pros.

Scope of work: 3 bathrooms. The master bath received a new tile floor, tile shower with frameless glass door, custom vanity, new toilet and fresh paint. New faucets, shower head, mirrors, light fixtures and shelf (all purchased by us) were also installed. We separately contracted with a family member in the granite business for vanity countertops. Tile was purchased separately from a vendor Mike suggested. Upstairs full bath: new custom vanity. Installation of curved shower curtain rod, mirror, light fixture and faucets we purchased. Fresh paint. Downstairs powder room: installation of new faucet, mirror and light fixture that we purchased. Mike is honest and diligent. He communicated with us well throughout the entire process. He kept on top of the subcontractors to ensure our satisfaction. All of the work has made a big difference, especially the master shower, which now feels like a luxury spa thanks to Aaron and Mike. All in all, we've spent about 15K including tile, granite, mirrors/faucets/light fixtures/accessories. Mike's services constitute a good value in our book. We are completely satisfied.

Mike did an incredible job. We LOVE our new butler's pantry! The cabinet and granite people he uses were top notch. Mike did everything else himself. He arrived early and worked late when he needed to. He handled problems with ease. If something wasn't exactly as I had envisioned it, then he would fix it without complaint. We were very pleased with Mike and the job he did. We highly recommend him and will use him again on the next project.

lMike Golota did a great job on every aspect of the project! He has a decorator that works with him, Julaine of J Jarrett Designs, who oversees every aspect of the project. They worked great together, and the end result was BEAUTIFUL! Also, his tile guys, granite people, cabinet people, and especially Beth Bourguin who did the faux painting for my cabinets all did a fabulous job!! I highly recommend Golota Builder's for any project!

Project was on time and the quality of work was first class (fantastic). They cleaned up their work area daily and removed all materials daily. Project was finished in 4 days. Professional high quality work at a fair price.

We had a small, 42" square fiberglass shower stall in our master bathroom. We wanted a larger shower. We were nearly able to double the size of the shower. We had other estimates and his price was the most competitive. We made suggestions, Mike improved our suggestions and made a few of his own. The results are spectacular. We met with Mike on 3 different occasions before beginning the project to go over design details and changes. All we had to do was pick the tile. He took care of everything else. His detailed price includes labor and additional materials. In fact, because we didn't need some labor item, he deducted that from his final price. He was always professional and always on time. He told us exactly how long it would take. His attention to detail is outstanding. Anyone not considering using Mike is making a serious mistake.

I am extremely pleased with Mikes work. I felt comfortable enough to allow him in my home while I went to work. He did his job professionally, timely and left everything clean. There were no hidden fees. I received some very high quotes for the job, so glad I used Mike's company. YES I will use Golata Building Services again!!

The job was excellent. He is the best contractor we ever worked with. He was professional, and communicative. His price was fair. His knowledge and skill of the work he was doing was top notch. He was really good. He did most of the work himself, he did it in the shortest amount of time, he was flexible when things came up, he didn't up charge us for every little thing that came up. I would recommend him, in fact I am already recommending him. He is affordable.We will use him again in our next house.

This is the 2nd job we have used him for. The first being a complete rebuild of our master bath. Mike does a great job and is very reasonably priced. He is our go to person for any tile job. The quality of his work is fantastic but what I like most is his honesty. We looked at some other projects around the house and he let me know those were not his speciality and would only be subcontracting them if we chose to use him.

Mike was very professional. He showed up right on time and worked efficiently. My husband and I estimated the job would take 2.5 days but Mike finished it in 2 day. He worked hard and was focused. We look forward to working with him again on more projects!

I met with 3 contractors and Mike was the most responsive and his proposal was very reasonable. He helped us with some design changes that kept the cost down. He did all the work himself except the shower glass and manged that subcontractor and had the glass ready when he was done with the tile work. There were no surprises , the work was completed at the price proposed and on schedule. I will use him again and highly recommend him.

Mike Golota is excellent. He is trying to get his business off the ground. I have been using him for couple of years. He is quite good. He is very reasonably priced. He would work with the homeowners. He doesn’t try to sell what I don’t want. He would give me options in what to choose. He gives me reasonable estimates. He patched the roof for us because we can’t afford a new roof yet. Prior to the roof patchwork, he also re-cocked our master bathroom shower. He did an excellent job with that. He charged us about a couple of hundred dollars for that. He gave us an estimate to replace the back wall of our family room dining area. I wanted two huge windows and a small door. I also wanted to get a sliding glass door and he gave us an estimate of about $3600. That would include replacement of the whole section, putting in a six-foot glass door and redoing the siding for that area. His prices are extremely competitive with the others and he is a little less expensive than some. He does good work and does not overcharge. He is not the lowest priced and he is not the highest but his work is excellent. I normally get more than what I pay for. The quality of the work is very, very good. He is a very personable person. He is a younger man. He offers some really good suggestions. He is willing to give one a laundry list to choose from. If one cannot do it all, he would work with one. I don’t think many plumbers do that. He has been here always on time. He is very professional. I haven’t had the work done yet but if I would, I would use him. I have his name and phone number set up on my phone, so if I need anybody for anything, I will call him.
