First I called another company whose office was closer and got good (but fewer) ratings. They quoted me a price that was more than double what Banks charged me. When I told them that seemed high and that I found them through Angies List the knocked $50 off. That was still more than double what Banks charged me. I was a bit naive and told this first company that I'd use their services. They told me that a technician would call me back in 15-20 minutes to schedule a time. Hours later there was no call back. The next day-no call back. This gave me time to think about the high price and the fact that they didn't call me back like they said they would. The next day I called Banks and everything went smooth as cake. They quoted be a low price, came when they said they would and did a thorough job. To top it off everyone at the office and when they came to the house was polite and professional. Don't waste your time or get ripped off. I highly recommend using Banks. Oh, the day after I scheduled with Banks the first company called me back and seemed upset that they lost my business and told me they would negotiate a lower price. I almost laughed.

The first bad experience we had with Banks was in our previous home. Our "septic system" failed. All we knew was that we had sewage backed up into our home, covering the basement floors, and coming in through the shower drains on the main level. Banks gave us a proposal for 19,000 and said that we need to pump everything up a hill to the corner of our lot. A second company came out. They advised that field lines collapses and replaced them for around 3,000. That solution resolved our problem and continues to work today. Banks was our subcontractor for our new home and installed everything. We moved in December of 2015. On Thursday, December 24, 2015, the alarm for our septic tank was going off. That indicates that the tank is full. When we called, they advised that we should look into the tank, which we did, and see how full it was. Based on that phone call and conversation, they advised that we had "a couple of days" worth of room and not to take long showers or wash clothes. That response was QUITE disappointing. They also advised us to have someone check the power on the pump. (Also disappointing having just spent thousands of dollars). We did that. The builder came out on Saturday and advised that we did have power and called Banks again. Banks came the following week (after days of being afraid to take a shower or wash any clothes) and found that the sensor was the problem and they repaired it. Overall, this incident wasn't devastating. It was certainly a hassle over Christmas and their response was slow. They were absolutely willing to pass the blame. Third problem arises in January 2016. We can smell sewage in our yard and in our home. It seems to worsen when we wash clothes. But the odor starts in the back yard. The bad part is that it is intermittent. On bad days, it smells in the basement. On worse days the smell in on the second level and you have to sometimes leave the house. The plumber met with us and the builder to recheck everything. Buider advises Banks but they advise they don't need to come out unless we find that it is definitely their problem. Very disappointing. We are hoping to get all of the contractors to our home to figure it out. So, plumber and builder return and we run smoke through all of the plumbing in the house. That shows if there is a leak or if someone perhaps nailed through a line in the house. Tests show no leaks inside the house. Sewage Odor persists. Always starts in the back yard. Then, as it worsens, creeps into basement, then upstairs. February: We are journaling it now to see if there is some correlation between activity and the odor. Builder is communicating with Banks, (Matt) about what we are doing. March 1: Builder hires a third party to also smoke the lines in the house to see what we could be missing. Plumber insists it has to be Septic but continues to come and try to resolve with us. Banks does not come for this smoke test either. The only place that the smoke "leaks" (which is supposed to indicate where the smell is coming from) is from all three lids from our septic system in the back yard . Banks suggests that we removed the extenders that they installed, install concrete lids, and bury them. Banks does that. We are very hopeful the smell will go away. The smell persists. Our builder comes here 3-4 days a week to confirm that he can smell it. We are all searching for answers and cannot figure it out. It is still very strong in the back yard. Neighbor tells us he can smell it. Then, a call from our builder. Banks knows what is causing the problem. They had just pumped our neighbors tank a few weeks back and now they have water from their lines leaking and literally springing into the air. They advise, that must have been our issue the entire time. April 9, arrive home from vacation and can't smell anything. Hooray! Maybe it is gone. Start washing clothes and dishes and using our home and the smell is back. Week of April 12. Still have the odor. Still too embarrassed to have anyone over to our new home because we never know when it is going to smell like sewage. Ask builder to have Banks and third party that "smokes" the home come on Monday April 18 to test again and all be here to work on a resolution. Meeting is set for Tuesday April 19. Banks does not come. Matt was tied up. Third party runs smoke through drain fields to see if there is a leak there. Smoke is coming out of the ground over drain fields in four different places. Builder gets Matt on phone and Matt says to call the county because they permitted it. I am so upset that we have this terrible odor in our home. I am VERY DISSATISFIED with BANKS because they seem to care less. I have of course paid them for all of their services and now they are not coming out here to help us resolve the problem. The plumber came time after time although he didn't believe it was his issue. Banks will not come. I am SICK that I didn't follow my instinct and run from this company after our first bad experience. A service company is only as good as they respond when things are NOT going well. And, here, things are NOT going well. Banks seem uninterested in our problem. "Call the county" is an unacceptable response. They have their money. Now, we feel like they have absolutely washed their hands of us. I would NEVER recommend Banks. It's easy to have good scores if all goes well. But, for us, when the problems arise, they are not here to stand behind what they have done to help us find the source of the issue. Contacted Banks to get exact dates on work orders and they advised they only have one on file from December.
Description of Work: Banks was the subcontractor for our builder. They installed an entirely new septic system including field lines and a pump. We started experiencing problems within two weeks of move in. We can smell sewage and cannot find a resolution. This experience is the SECOND time that we have had a problem with Banks septic. Our builder chose Banks for this home and although VERY reluctant, our builder assured us that he had been working with Banks for years and that they were a good company and that they would always stand behind their work. We have not had that experience.

We have done everything the builder has asked us to do. We have been out to your home for everything we have been asked to be present for except when the drainfield was smoked. We did tell you on December 24th to check some things and tell you to be light on your system due to the holidays we were not sending a guy out. We have went above and beyond with this issue, have had an engineer to come out and verify that we did nothing wrong to cause this smell you keep smelling. As far as you being quoted 19,000 for a repair back when Matt didn't even own the company and bringing past owner issues into this is just unfair and spiteful, but you have your right to your opinions, as do we. I have searched all records and show nothing for your name. As for this smell you say you keep smelling and want to post on Angies List be sure you have the proper facts as we have done everything we can do and at this point we are not responsible for this smell.I too am very disappointed that as a business owner we can never seem to do enough to keep people happy and if we can't control the smell of your sewage we have to see the blasts on sites that allow customers to make statements that are just unfair. We encourage constructive criticism and anyone that knows are company knows we always do what's right! So if you ever find someone that says we are at fault please let us know.

needs. They are the best.Matt and Mickey came out and found blockage in my drain field. They put in a short term fix Which allowed me to use my water normally until they obtained permits for field replacement. These 2 individuals were professional, hard working and accommodating. They left the yard in good shape when they finished and were a pleasure to work with. I can comfortably recommend Banks for any of your septic

I'm at war with them. I got them off Angie's List because they had really good reviews. On the phone, they said $325 and no hidden fees or charges. They get here. They then prove, in 2 minutes, that it was not a septic tank problem, it was a sump pump problem. But then they charged me $175 trip free and they tell me. in a gangster like way that they won't leave till I pay. So, I'm going to do a chargeback. I'm at war and I'm going to win.

Sir we are sorry you feel this way, but any service company that provides a service charges a service charge. It costs us time and money to send a truck with 2 technicians to Atlanta from [Removed Personal Info] to find out it is a inside problem when we are told you want to pump the septic tank. Now some companies would have charged you to pump the septic tank and then tell you your problem is not fixed and need to have a plumber come out. We did not do that and I'm not sure what you are implying "you are at War with us" and "a gangster way" ? If your credit card company agrees to the charge back we are fine with that, if you can live with that, then we can live without it. We are a very honest and up front company and we did not hide anything from you. I feel you should have stated a pump issue versus needing a septic tank pumping because you were backing up (you are on sewer so our services would not have helped) You were quoted what you had asked for.

This is my first Angie's List review, and I'm more than pleased to write it! In fact, this is a difficult thing for me to do physically because my right arm is in a cast and I have to peck this review out mostly left handed. I called Banks late Thursday and explained to them that we had four service providers out to our property over the last two years and no one was able to find our septic tank. The last guy said he thought it was probably under our deck. Before ripping our deck up I wanted to be 100% sure it was necessary. I explained all of this over the phone to the Banks rep. She scheduled someone to come out on Monday morning to find our tank, and then pump it if possible (if it wasn't under the deck). They called me 30 minutes prior to arriving just as they said they would do. Paul arrived, and he and his assistant were in the back yard less than five minutes and they found the tank! I couldn't believe it. Part of it was under the deck, but enough of it was accessible past the deck, so they began digging. They worked quickly and hard to dig down three feet to expose the septic tank access lid. They pumped and inspected the tank. They did a thorough job of pumping the tank. They totally exceeded my expectations - I hoped that they would at least be able to find my septic tank, and then some time down the road pump it out. They found the tank without any special tools/methods so they didn't even charge for locating it, they only charged for pumping it! They refilled the hole with dirt and cleaned everything up in a professional manner. These guys are the best! I highly recommend them.

My experience with Banks Septic was fantastic. I had an emergency and they were able to get to me the next day (on a Saturday). Roger who came was professional and very efficient -- the whole job took less than an hour. I was charged exactly what i was quoted. I have two comments for Banks Septic's owners: 1. the $125 weekend surcharge seemed a bit high for a $325 service (that's a 38% surcharge). The $25 Angie's List coupon helped take the sting out of that a little. I understand the need for this especially if the customer is not in an emergency situation. However, when you have raw sewage in your bathtub on Friday night, you cannot wait until Monday. 2. In this day and age it makes me very uncomfortable to have my credit card number, exp date and security code written down on a piece of paper for processing later. There is really no reason why their reps can't use Square or another service to process credit payments on the spot. This is a win-win because it will also ensure them 100% payments.
