Description of Work: Long before I knew about Angie's List, Award Roofing installed a new roof on my home in 2005 for a total of $9810. Everything about the experience was outstanding, thanks to the owner, Doug Horsley; the roof continues to be trouble free. | |Flash forward 10 years... Due to several years of bad winters with high winds I wanted my roof inspected for loose shingles or issues prior to painting the interior of my home, including ceilings. I pulled my file on Award Roofing and also checked Angie's List to confirm the contact info. To my absolute delight, Doug still owns the company! He explained that some roofing issues may be undetectable upon visual inspection but he'd be happy to inspect my roof before I painted. This gave me peace of mind that I'd completed my due diligence. I will continue to recommend Doug / Award Roofing to my friends and neighbors - and will certainly contract with the company for future roofing needs. The $50 I paid Doug for "gas money" was well worth it, and certainly didn't cover the expense of the time he invested. He's a TOP quality individual who provides top quality products and service.

Description of Work: Award Roofing installed a new roof on my home in Cumming, Georgia. I was not living in the home at the time, so I had to arrange to have it done long distance. I saw the great reviews in Angie's List for Award Roofing, so I gave them a call. I spoke to Doug, who was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He made the entire process easy and stress-free. He gave me a very reasonable quote and was responsive to all of my calls. He went to the home to take measurements and gave me a detailed quote. His final bill was exactly as he stated it would be. The company did exactly what they said they would do and did everything promptly and professionally. My relatives said the roofers cleaned up very well after they completed the work. I was extremely happy with their service and would recommend them to anybody.

We ultimately went with another company because they gave us a lower bid. I'm sure Award Roofing Co. would have done a great job.

Description of Work: Shingles were missing on my house so they replaced them. And they were kind enough to move the singles from the back of the house to match in the front and put 2 replacements in the back. They did an excellent job and also fixed a pipe on the roof that was cracked.

Description of Work: I had a roof leak around a vent pipe that was repaired by another contractor, but it did not stop the water. However, Award Roofing responded quickly, repaired the leak and it has not leaked since. Doug did a thorough inspection and correctly fixed the real problem.

Description of Work: I called four roofing companies to look at a roof leak and give us a quote. Three of the companies (including Award) were on Angie's List, and the other was a referral from a friend. One of the other Angie's companies called me back, but they couldn't get any one out to look at the leak for five days. Doug Horsley called me and was able to come out in two days.The other two companies never returned my call. Doug immediately determined where the problem was and then got up on the roof to take a closer look. Within 30 minutes, he had adjusted a down spout and gutter which had been undercutting one of the shingles. He even cleaned leaves out of an unrelated eave on his way back down the ladder! The following evening we had a torrential rain. Our former leak stayed bone dry. Doug even called me the following afternoon to check up on it. Guess who I'm going to hire to replace the roof in a few years?

 + -1 moreI called Doug, the owner on a Friday morning. He came out Friday afternoon to inspect the roof. He submitted a quote via email on Saturday. He informed us that our insurance company underestimated the size of the job, so we should be able to get a larger settlement from them. We accepted his quote on Monday and he dropped off sample shingles for us on Tuesday morning. First thing Thursday morning, the shingles for our roof were dropped off and they started working right away. (Wednesday was the 4th of July). His team worked until 7:30pm and cleaned up before they left. They were back at 7am Friday morning and finished up by 5pm. Everything was cleaned up around the entire property. His team was very friendly and professional. They even made sure the satellite TV was working properly after they reattached it to the roof. Doug took the extra step of speaking with our insurance adjuster personally. We received an additional $250 from them.
Description of Work: Due to hail damage, I needed to have my 11-year old roof replaced. Award Roofing stripped existing felt and shingles, replaced and added ridge lines for ventilation, removed an unnecessary attic fan, and installed 30-year architectural shingles.

 + -1 moreIt went very well. Richard came to my house to give me and estimate and found wind damage and suggested I make an insurance claim. I made the claim and the whole job was covered by insurance. This company's price was the lowest I got. They were very professional and stayed in close contact with me. They called and scheduled the job and were there right on time and finished the job on time. Also the supervisor. Chad kept in touch with me to give me progress reports during the job. My only complaint was that I found some roofing nails on my driveway after they left and this could have caused problems. I would recommend this company for their competence and for being extremely easy to work with.

 + -1 moreI was told by the person who cleans my gutters that he could feel soft spots in my roof. I called Award on a Tuesday, and Ryan, Doug's son, came out on Wednesday. He checked my entire roof and found that the soft spots were only in the roof over the screened-in porch, not over the house itself, which was good news. The next week Ryan and his crew did the work, and it was done cleanly and efficiently. Ryan had initially estimated it to be a half-day job, but so much wood had to be removed and the roof reconstructed that it took all day and another hour the next morning. But they worked with my schedule to avoid any inconvenience for me.
Description of Work: Award repaired the roof over my screened-in porch by removing the existing roof and much of the old, rotting wood underneath. They replaced the wood and re-shingled.

He monitored his crew and followed up on their work. All went well and roof looks and performs great and it is reassuring to have a 15-year labor warranty -- not common for roofing companies.
Description of Work: Removed 19 year old 3-tab roof on 1:1 grade roof replacing 20 sheets of roof decking, vent boots. Added ridge vents and roof fan. Site cleanup.

 + -1 moreDoug is a true man of his word. It took less than 24 hours to hear from Doug from my initial inquiry call. He came by that day and left the proposal for the evening's review after inspecting earlier. We met the next day to discuss ideas. Work was performed two days later. All work was performed on time/ahead of suggested time. Doug actually offered a discount for what he said was a schedule change and would be able to do the job just two days after we met on July 4th weekend! His 10 year-old customer reference houses (8 total) were inspected by me in 1 hour and a go ahead was given for the next morning. The quality of the work on those houses stood the time test and the customers all said they'd recommend. Crew was a workhorse. Everything that was discussed was provided and done right. All materials were provided and scheduled around my schedule. Crew finished in 1 1/2 days. Jobsite was cleaned properly. Doug did his final inspection and personally magnet swept the property again.
Description of Work: Complete tear off & re-roof of existing 18 year-old 3-tab asphalt roof with newer architectural type. Replaced valley flashing, damaged or leaking flashing in problem areas, & damaged sheathing. Rebuilt cricket behind chimney for better runoff. Replaced waste vent boots and metal exhaust stack boots. Installed electric fan ventilator and ridge vents. Tarps, dumpster, and magnet sweep of property all included.

DOUG HORSLEY WAS A PLEASURE TO DEAL WITH, ALWAYS AVAILABLE WHEN I HAD A QUESTION AND PROFESSIONAL AT ALL TIMES. THE WORK THE ROOFERS DID WAS EXCELLENT. THEY COMPLETED THE JOB IN THE AMOUNT OF TIME THEY STATED IT WOULD TAKE, AND DID AN EXCELLENT JOB OF CLEAN-UP. THE PRICE WAS VERY COMPETITIVE AND THE WARRANTY BETTER THAN THE OTHERS WE WERE QUOTED. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM.
