 + -1 moreWe had a great experience with Award Roofing. Doug Horsley was really nice to work with and his crew did a really good job. They were punctual, did the work on time and on budget, and left our yard clean of all roofing debri. We would definitely use them again!
Description of Work: We had a new roof installed. The scope of the work included removing old shingles, replacing damaged plywood, installing ridge vents and attic fan. In addition, original roof drainage issues were corrected.

I felt very comfortable with him and he gave me a sense of confidence in his abilities. Other Angie's list clients had wonderful compliments for Award Roofing and I found them to all be true. Mr. Horsley worked within our timeframe and was knowledgeable about how to deal with insurance regarding hail damage. He did what he said he would do, when he said he would do it. He answered all my questions with patience and expertise. He kept me apprised of the schedule and specifics of the job by email and phone. He finished the job in record time, thereby reducing the amount of inconvenience to the residents. I would definitely recommend him if you need a new roof.e

Description of Work: A roofing company that put a new roof on my home in 2009 is no longer in busy. I was having leaks on the sunporch roof. Using Angie's List, I call Award Roofing and no only got a quote, but a very detailed explanation of what was done wrong when the roof was installed and what they were going to do to make it right. When the roof was installed in 2009, that company first put on a shingle roof on a low pitched roof and covered over the existing roof. When Award Roofing did the job, they stripped all of that away and started from scratch and did it right.

Description of Work: Award Roofing removed previously installed hood vents, repaired holes and other weather damaged decking, installed ridge vents and completely re-roofed home. Prior to selecting Award Roofing, Doug came out and did a complete inspection of the roof. He climbed on the roof and went into the attic. He then sat down with me and explained in detail what the re-roof involved, how long it would take, the materials he uses and why, his workmanship warranty. Doug arrived with his crew on time Monday morning. He let me know that they would re-roof a portion of the roof the first day and finish Tuesday. The crew dilligently worked from 7:30 till 6:00 on Monday and till 5:00 on Tuesday when the work was complete. Doug came Wednesday to do a final walk through to make sure I was happy with the job. There were a few marks on my trim that Doug wiped off or painted over for me, he also replaced a small decorative piece that was broken during the re-roof. I had an issue with my gutters, he had his gutter contractor come by the house and make the minor repairs that I requested. I appreciated Doug's attention to detail from the estimate to the final walk through. Doug is a local small business that does a great job.

Although it had not rained in weeks, it did rain before he could get the repair done. He came over during the rain storm to put up a tarp to prevent additional leaking without charging me for additional labor. His prices were very reasonable and I highly recommend him.

 + -1 moreI overheard a coworker having trouble getting his roof fixed. The first roofer he got from the yellow pages came right away. However, that company was so disorganized and disinterested in what seemed at the time to be a small repair, that he finally told them never mind. The next one, also from the yellow pages, promised to take a look, but then didn't show up and when called again, would not answer and return the phone calls. After I told him about Angie's list, he asked me to look up a roofer which is where I found "Award Roofing" for him that had good reviews. The roofer tried sealing around a vent pipe near the leak to save him some money. When that didn't work during the next rainstorm, he did not charge him and came back for another look. A bad roofing job done 4 years earlier by another company was found to be the cause. He fixed the problem quick, always responded to phone calls and did the work at a fair price. My coworker says he'd definitely use him again. He also will be subscribing to Angie's list!
Description of Work: They have fixed 3 leaks on the roof and removed the sattelite dish from the roof.

 + -1 moreNoticed a small leak during a recent rain storm.Called Award Roofing and he agreed to come by that afternoon even though he was extremely busy.When he arrived the skies were looking threatening but made a quick diagnosis that there were a few loose/damaged shingles in the roof area of the leak.Within half an hour, in a light rain, the loose shingles were tacked down properly, sealed and the two damaged ones were replaced.Excellent over-the-top service and I will certainly be calling them back when the roof needs replacing. A++

 + -1 moreMy neighbor recommended Doug of Award Roofing and I called him as well as a few other companies for a quote. Doug offered the best price and was always easy to deal with, professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. I went with Award for a new roof and the crew spent 14 hours one day doing the majority of the work, then came back to finish up and clean up the next morning. They were efficient and hard-working. Doug followed up with a visit after all was done to do another nail sweep and make sure that everything was in order and to give me the paperwork. He went out of his way to be helpful and went above and beyond in trimming some tree branches and ivy that were on the roof and sides of the house. I am extremely pleased with Award and added Doug's name to our neighborhood service directory so others would know of his great service. Getting a new roof is a major home expense and you really don't want a company that isn't recommended; I was thrilled to have this big of a job done well by an honest, reputable company.
Description of Work: I have a large home with a very steep roof that desperately needed work. There were loose shingles and although no leaks were yet evident, it wasn't going to be long before they happened. Award Roofing re-did the entire roof and Doug, the owner, went out of his way to explain what he was going to do and to update me on deliveries and timing and explained the warranty info as well. He was straightforward and direct and outlined all involved in getting a new roof.

 + -1 moreI actually had them replace the roof on my current home a couple of years ago and I was very happy with their work and professionalism. So when my rental home needed a new roof I called Award Roofing again. Doug was always on time and he knew his stuff. I have a very low pitch on my rental house and the current roof was installed with the wrong shingles. Doug came out and saw what the previous roofers had done and told me what they did wrong and why the roof was failing. He put together a detailed list of what he was going to do and the prices. They arrived and covered all the bushes and the koi pond to make sure no shingles ended up in there. Within a day they had all the shingles off and almost the entire room done. Everything looks great and I would definately recommend them to anyone.

Description of Work: Doug Horsley responded to my call. This wasnt a big job, but it did require the skills and know how to flash and re-roof around a chimney that had to be re-constructed. Doug was extremely knowledgable, and immediately came out to review the work that needed to be done - The reason I chose Doug and Award roofing initially, was because of their reviews. The other companies listed had several C's, and F's. When Doug climbed up on the ladder, and spoke with the carpenters that were repairing the roof, I Knew I had selected the right guy. The carpenters were clueless about how to properly flash a chimney that was about to have the bricks cemented back in place. Doug took the time to instruct them on how to do the job right, he went and got the flashing at the local Lowes, and returned to give it to the carpenters. When the chimney was about complete, Doug and his guys showed up as planned and quickly finished additional flashing, and re-shingling the roof with the correct color and materials. Excellent job, excellent service, and a professional attitude. You will not be disappointed if you make the decision to chose this team of roofing professionals. And that is exactly what they are - Professionals

The project went off on time with no surprise. He also volunteered information about our gutter protection system which helped save our warranty. He also coordinated with that firm to have protection reinstalled and I didn't have to lift a finger. I know if I have any future issues Doug will answer the phone and take care of any problems. Great experience and highly recommend.

This bid was the most competitive, the most thorough, and the best quality guarantee of all 7. Very impressed that the roof came with a long long labor guarantee. I was impressed with Award Roofing's customer service. I was incredibly impressed with his follow up on a few items related to a gutter referral he gave and we subsequently bid and the referred company did. The drip edge and the new gutters combined with a new roof provides us fundamental confidence in the related weather ability of our home. Bravo! Award Roofing.

 + -1 moreThey were nice, good and very helpful. They had to come back two or three times which they did because there were some spots which needed reinforcement. But overall they were responsive and did a good job. The only thing we regret is that we let them put the roof on when it was very cold in 2010 and I have heard that you should not put a roof on in cold weather. Right now the quality is good but it is too early to tell. I probably will use them again in the future.

 + 0 moreAward Roofing was one of four companies we spoke with and received estimates from. While 3 of the four companies were competitive in price and all representatives were very professional during their visits, Award was the only company willing to handle EVERYTHING including acting as middleman for the skylights AND removing and reinstalling the gutterguards. All work was completed within a week of first meeting with the owner, Mr. Horsley. The physical work was completed within a day and a half! Clean up was perfect! The only issue we had was with the skylights which had to be replaced a couple of times due to imperfections in the material. I do not know the name of the company that made the skylights but both they and Mr. Horsley worked with us until we were satisfied with the results. I was very impressed with Mr. Horsley's professionalism and calm demeanor in dealing with this issue. Never once were we asked for payment until we were completely satisfied! Mr. Horsley was extremely understanding, patient and accommodating in all matters.
Description of Work: New Roof (architectural shingles) and new skylights. Also included the removal of all existing plumbing vent boots and roof surface ventilators and replacing them with new boots and vents AND new flashing and substrate. And, removal and reinstallation of (existing) gutter guards.

 + -1 moreWe recently noticed a leak in our great room. I called 4 different companies to obtain quotes on repair and/or installation of a new roof. Award Roofing came in with the lowest bid of all 4 companies. We chose to do the whole roof install. Not only did Award Roofing provide the lowest bid, Doug Horsely was a pleasure to work with. He was personable yet professional, punctual in returning calls when a message was left, careful to explain all aspects of the roof install, helpful in choosing the right shingle (there are a lot of options) for our house. In addition, we needed to have our chimney siding replaced prior to the roof being installed and Mr. Horsley referred a siding company with whom he works. We were pleased with the outcome of the chimney repair. AR uses contractors for the roof install, but I found that Mr. Horsely monitored their progress well. In the end we were pleased with the results and with the fact that we went with Award Roofing.

 + -1 moreDoug the owner was very professional and detailed in explaining what work would be done, provided detailed estimate and explained what potential additional cost would be if they found any rotten plywood above his estimate. Doug's estimate was the best of the three we received , it was not the lowest but it contained all the detail including warranties, insurance information, references and samples, he provided color samples for my wife to review before starting work. No pressure sales just provided as much information as he could, hi estimate was also not the highest and seem to represent the best quality. The work crew was very efficient and completed the work in two days they clean-up all around the property. Doug checked their progress while they were working as well as after they finished he walk the property to make sure all trash , nails and debris was picked up. Doug also removed marks on the stucco from old shingles that were removed. He visited and did follow-up two days after all work was completed again to make sure all nails and debris were removed. I was impressed with Doug's professionalism and focus on us as his customer, Doug has a high sense of integrity.
