I call them at 10 am about fixing a leaking inlet value that i messed up trying to repair it myself the night before. He said it would take him about 30 min to got the the house to check it out. However, he arrived in 20 minutes and was polite and courteous and got straight to the job. In about 40 minutes he fixed the problem i created and he also replaced the other inlet value that needed replacing as well.
Description of Work: I needed to have a leak fixed that i created by trying to fix an inlet value in the kitchen myself.

I had a very bad experience with this company and it got much, much worse when I attempted to follow up with them to address my concerns. Here's what happened: I called Alexander Plumbing at 10 p.m. on a Thursday night near the end of May for a leaking hot water heater in my utility room. There was a puddle of water on the floor and I wanted someone there a.s.a.p. Their website advertises "24-hour emergency service" so I left a message. No one ever called me back. Problem #1: A plumber should not advertise 24-hour service then fail to call you back when you have a plumbing emergency. The next morning, I made the mistake of calling the same company (I was not yet on Angie's List and this incident is what inspired me to join.) They sent a guy out who looked at the hot water heater, said it had a hole in it and turned it off. We were leaving town for a day and asked if it would be okay to wait until we got back since the heater was turned off. Problem #2: He said yes, the only water that would come out would be the rest of the 50 gallons in it, which I was mopping up as it leaked out. He promised to come back Monday to install my new hot water heaters (we decided to replace two since the other was old too.) When we returned from our trip on Saturday, we heard a steady stream of water leaking into the crawl space under our house. I knew there was no way this could still be the rest of the 50 gallons. We were very worried. Problem #3: Monday (Memorial Day) arrived and the guy from Alexander Plumbing was a no show. We didn't even get a phone call explaining that he had forgotten it was a holiday or that he wouldn't be showing up. I waited around until noon before I assumed he wasn't coming that day. On Tuesday morning, I got a call from the guy from Alexander, and I made yet another mistake. Despite the failure to respond to my call Thursday night and despite the leaking water and despite the guy's no show the day before, I told him to go ahead and come out because we were in a hurry to get the problem fixed. My husband had a bad feeling based on the unprofessional behavior so far, but I stupidly overruled him and told the guy to come out so we could get this fixed. The guy showed up and I still had an uneasy feeling. Problem #4: He didn't ask what kind of hot water heater I wanted, show me options or tell what brand would be installed. I asked questions and got this info. Problem #5: Then I asked if he was going to give me an estimate in writing with a total, the exact brand of heater and model that would be installed before he started work. He said yes, but did not - just started the installation. I asked if he was a licensed plumber and he said yes, but didn't give me his full name, license number etc. I did not feel good about this at all. I also asked what the leaking water was, and he said it was coming from some valve on the old hot water heater, which he never told me about. If I had known the old hw heater would leak under my house for three days after it was turned off, I would have cancelled my trip and gotten the problem addressed Friday. (Problem #6) I expressed concern about all that water under my house and he said the hot weather would dry it out. I still didn't feel good about this and was worried the guy might have been totally incompetent, so I called Alexander Plumbing the next day, told them about all the unprofessional behavior and my concerns, and asked them to send someone out to check this guy's work and to remove the water from my crawl space and dry it out with fans since their plumber never told me it would be leaking under my house for three days -- and actually had told me the ONLY water that would leak would be the rest of the 50 gallons. Problem #7: They did not send someone out and told me to crawl under my house myself and poke holes in the plastic under my crawl space so the water would drain. When an insurance adjuster came to my house to check the water damage, he asked if it was a licensed plumber who had installed my new hot water heaters. I said I thought so but decided to call the company to verify for my peace of mind, so I don't have to worry something will go wrong and cause more water damage. This is where the real craziness starts. Problem #8: I called and asked the woman who answered the phone if she could verify that my installer was a licensed plumber. She wouldn't say, sounded really cagey, and told me I needed to talk to the owner, Mr. Alexander. She put the owner on the phone and (Problem #9) he told me he wasn't sure and would have to check to see who did the work and that he would call me back. He told me guys who install hot water heaters don't have to be licensed and they just have to be "in contact" with a licensed master plumber who supervises. I asked if the licensed master plumber is on site to check the work and he said they don't have to be - just "in contact." (However, I called the Georgia Secretary of State's office and was told that under Georgia state LAW anyone who does plumbing work of any kind needs at minimum a journeyman plumber's license.) Problem #10: Mr. Alexander never called me back on Monday like he said he would, so I called and got no answer. Problem #11: I called Tuesday and talked with the same guy I had talked to before who told me to crawl under my house and poke holes in the plastic myself. He was very, very rude. I told him I was just trying to verify that the man who installed my heaters was a licensed plumber, for my own peace of mind. He kept changing the subject, saying "Is your insurance man giving you a problem?" and asking what the problem was with the hot water heaters. I told him I simply wanted to verify for my own peace of mind that a licensed plumber had performed the work, in accordance with Georgia state law as I understand it. He told me a hot water heater installer DOES have to be a licensed plumber (this is not what the owner told me several days before) but could not explain why the owner had to "check" and why the owner had told me otherwise. He told me in some cases, for some jobs, you are allowed to send out "apprentices" who are not licensed. However, the Georgia Secretary of State's office told me Georgia does not have "apprentices" and that plumbers need to be licensed to do any plumbing job. This man on the phone accused me of "harassment" for calling the company four times to try to get an answer to my question. He said some guy named Brian had installed my hot water heaters and claimed that the guy is a licensed plumber but said Brian is no longer with Alexander Plumbing. He refused to give me the full name and license number of my installer, saying I might "call and harass" him. He also accused me of "not being real honest" because he said he kept offering to come check the guy's work and I wasn't interested. (Funny - that's what I had asked him to do the day after the install and he didn't but at this point I do not trust this company and it will be a different plumber checking the work, thanks.) I remained calm and professional the whole time on the phone, so his hostility was really strange - especially to a customer that paid his company $1,400-plus and just wanted to verify that they got the service they were entitled to based on state law. All these problems would have been avoided if this company, in accordance with state law, could have simply said, "Yes, all of our plumbers are licensed." And given me the license number of my installer. The final and most bizarre thing was that the man on the phone told me, "We'll see you in court!" (And no, I had not threatened to sue or mentioned court in any way!)
Description of Work: Came out for leaking hot water heater and installed two new hot water heaters.
