Mr. Hines assured me that he was capable of getting the work done. One side of the front porch is wider than the other. The rails are different lengths and the posts are different heights. The different rails lengths shows off the uneven work. Some of the lumber on the front and back decks are not treated. One of the back rails has crooked cut lumber on top. Nails are exposed and some of the wood is split open where the nails came through. The front porch frame is not straight The front steps are different lengths and they are tilted downward. Some of the posts are twisted. Nails are exposed. Some rails are short enough to expose the length of nails that are holding the rail in place. The gates on the front and back have dropped. They cannot be moved unless you lift them up. Several of the angle cuts are cut backward. The section of the back wall that he mended is cut uneven all the way across giving it a zigzag look. The guys he had repair the 24' x 4 1/2' wall and steps to the back decks did a good job.The post on the back deck are set in concrete and too far from the edge. Mr. Hines used a backhoe to cover up the broken blocks and concrete top that he removed from the back deck. When he covered up the broken concrete he also covered up a portion of the side of the back deck. The pipe that he connected the water filter to the well with had a leak that I had to get fixed. Getting the leak fixed and setting the filter straight costed me $70.00. I asked him to put a wooden access door on the backside of the underpenning to replace a steel door that was already there. He cut a piece of wood and propped it against door opening. The wood that he cut was not wide enough for the opening. Mr. Hines came by on 03/10/2012 and attempted to fix the front gate. I showed him other problems that I had found with his work. He said that he would come by the following Wednesday. He did not come by or call. I tried to reach him several times. I spoke with Mr. Hines on 04/13/2012 about the work that he had done, he stated that he would come by the following morning. I asked him to bring me an itemized list of all the material and charges for the labor because he stated that I owed him $400.00. I have had not seen or heard from Greg Pete Hines since.
Description of Work: I hired Greg Pete Hines to do some repairs, build a front porch, repair and put rails on the back deck to my house. He built a front porch approximately 6' x 18' with rails and steps. He repaired a small leak over my front door. Mr. Hines cleaned the sediment out of my water heater and replaced the heater element. He also put a filter on my well. He had to remove one side portion of the underpenning blocks in order to repair a wall. The wall is approximately 24 feet long x 4 1/2 feet high. He also put in a wooden access door in that wall.Mr. Hines had to remove the concrete top of the back deck and lower the deck by removing one row of concrete blocks around the porch. This allowed for the repair of the outside wall that had been damaged by the height of the concrete deck. He replaced the concrete top on the deck, put rails around the deck, and put steps on the side of the deck. Mr.Hines repaired a spot approximately 42 inches x 7 inches at the back door. He painted the back door and put up a clothesline.
