Design Transitions

Susan and I spent an hour together. However, in that hour, she provided me with amazing ideas and suggestions for decorating my home. I will definitely use her services in the future!

Meeting with Susan was such a pleasure. We immediately liked her and truly enjoyed having her in our home. We found Design Transitions here on Angie's list and she was extremely quick and accommodating in scheduling the visit at a convenient time for us. We have such a small living space to work with and Susan provided some great insight into how to best invest our redecorating dollars. For our small space she recommended a monochromatic room design, painting the wall and trim the same color to make the space seem larger. This is a choice we struggled with, mainly because we had not seen it before. We did some online research and determined that this is the "new thing" and elected to go ahead and try it. The painters are here in our home now finishing up the implementation of Susan's idea and we truly love it. Our home truly does seem more spacious and "sleek" as Susan promised it would. Susan also suggested that we get rid of our couch and loveseat and purchase a sectional, place the television in front of the bay window instead of in the corner of the living room, and rotate the furniture around to face the TV. I was absolutely convinced that NO sectional sofa would fit in our tiny living room. Susan begged to differ, however, and called someone she knew who sold sectionals. Just so happened they had a $8000 sectional on consignment for $1800. She marked out on the floor where she thought it should go and I absolutely KNEW that it would be way too large for the room. She guaranteed me that it was NOT too big. We decided to trust her and went that night and purchased the sectional. We are so glad we did! It is FANTASTIC!!!! It is not too big at all and we actually have more seating space now than we did with the couch and loveseat. Our entire home has been transformed from Target/Walmart to upscale in both furnishings and the visual effect of the room. We could not be happier now that we have implemented Susan's suggestions. I am eager to hire her again!!!

I needed her keen eye to coordinate some (older) Asian pieces a server with a medallion, and several Chinese Chippendale chairs with and select a soft yet contemporary sofa and chairs. Color was a question because its an open floor plan with dining room furniture and living room furniture in proximity. A newly acquired painting had bright primary colors, yet I didn't want to bring in red, or green. The carpet was a neutral shade and my fixtures are contemporary and on trend. She confirmed a sofa that I was considering was the right choice, and indicated what shaped and size chairs to flank it. When the salesperson asked me what I wanted the legs made of I was temporarily stalled. She advised me to get the silver (stainless steel) instead of wood; to coordinate it with the lighting elements. She advised me to chose beige as the sofa color and a subtle birdseye herringbone weave as the fabric. I'm eagerly awaiting the couch now and cant wait to see it all together. Susan was excellent!! She came to provide recommendations on paint color for my new home that has plain beige walls. Susan talked to me to get an understanding of what I was looking for, lifestyle, etc. She toured my home to get better feel for my style and the spent two hours helpingme to select paint colors for each room. She also offered recommendations for how to decorate my dining room, such as purchasing a rug that is cut to fit the shape (it's an odd shape). The two hours went by fast,but I feel I got a lot of great ideas during that time. I thoroughly enjoyed is experience and hope to use Susan again in te future.

She was able to understand my designs style quickly, and gave me ideas based on my style. She is very kind and helpful. She will give you good advices for your particular style.

Susan was very helpful to us in deciding on colors for the house we are renovating. She was very conscious of the age of the house and the colors that are appropriate. She suggested things we never would have thought of. We would definitely use her services again.

Susan is a high energy person who thinks outside the box. She listened attentively to the ambience I wanted to create and then walked through the house in search of re-purposable items that would add to the livingroom.She was spot on and provided me some online websites to purchase my items. Highly recommend her.

Great! The time really passed quickly. I enjoyed talking with Susan, and appreciated her willingness to help me select budget friendly pieces for my room design. She wasn't pushy and she listened well to my needs.

Susan and I spoke by phone a few days before to set up the appointment. She arrived on time the day of our meeting. We walked through my home and discussed what were some of my goals and colors. Then she proceeded to ( in a matter of seconds!) give me and show me ways to pull it all together: Removing chair rails, repairing the walls, how and where to use spackling, when to use flat and/or satin paints, backsplashes, doing an accent wall, window treatments, lighting, door hardware, wall decorations, etc. I am very excited over the information she gave me and it was an excellent meeting. I would definitely use her again and recommend her.

After I left a voicemail for Susan, she promptly returned my call and set an appointment to meet the very next day. The day of the appointment, she was punctual which to me is among the most important attributes for a professional. Upon meeting, we discussed different paint combinations, accent walls, furniture colors, kitchen cabinets, window treatments and bath accessories. All in 2 hours. I was enlightened after the consultation and came away with more decorating knowledge than ever before. I would recommend her to anybody looking for a crash course in color coordination and design flow.

Excellent! From her prompt arrival to the end of our session the entire time was filled with terrific ideas and do's and don't. I learned plenty from her and it was a fun experience.

Susan was fantastic. The best interior designer I have ever had in my home. She emailed me back promptly and returned phone calls promptly. She arrived on time. I had the best 2 hours with her. I needed help in trying to figure out what to paint my master bedroom to match up with new bedding that I have and how to paint one bedroom and bring other 2 bedrooms together. First thing she wanted to do was walk thru my home and get a feel for my likes. This was an A+ in my book since I have had designers that have tried to force their ideas on me or what is trendy. Susan got a feel for my likes. She picked great colors to go with new bedding. Love the color she picked for my one bedroom. But the best she gave me some really great ides to use things that I have and how to perk them up. Great ideas on how to rearrange my master bedroom and use existing furniture. But the best - I have a double door into master bathroom that just stands out that I really dislike. Her idea of a french door with a curtain was great. Super idea for curtains and when I'm done I'm going to have a mater bedroom and bath that is terrific. The bedroom is one I redoing for my granddaughter. And she is going to love it with the help of Susan's

I purchased a home last year that needs a total makeover. I have started with a kitchen renovation and needed some help to proceed. Susan was very helpful. Her ideas are innovative and fresh. She was honest and let me know when a design I had previously chosen did not work. In addition, she provided explanations of why certain designs worked and other did not. I felt I had received a interior decoration lesson as well as my home consultation. Although my kitchen is my current project, Susan did not limit her consultation to that one room. She gave my valuable suggestions that did not cost a penny i.e: moving certain furniture pieces to a different room. She let me know I could call her with any questions regarding our discussion and I know I will.

It went very well. She was friendly and easy to talk to. She brought lots of samples of paint and flooring.

Honestly, I am amazed at how much was accomplished in a two hour consultation with Susan. She was friendly, professional, and has an eye for design that I do not.. She can quickly develop ideas and recommendations that work. Hiring a professional is not cheap, but the time I will save and the confidence I have in obtaining the right item from the start is invaluable. When looking at the wallpaper and paint samples I already had for my kids' rooms, she told me what parts of my plan were good and what parts would make the spaces appear smaller. That honesty is appreciated, and I look forward to working with Susan to create a beautiful and warm home for my family.

Everyone needs a Susan! She's very creative, knowledgeable & tireless. She's the absolute best at making & checking off a list. She always keeps an eye on budget & time. Plus, Susan is the most fun & easy person to work with. I'll never go to anyone else for design services again.

Susan did a great job in the re-do of our house. We did it in 3 different phases between 1997-2001. She managed every aspect of it - from the design to the construction to the decorating and furniture selection. She always finished on time, and under budget. She was always available and very responsive to our questions and our job was completed on time. Last year, we hired Susan to do a freshening up of our house and to manage some household repairs. Again, she was very professional, completed the job on time and was right on budget. What I like about Susan is her ability to listen to what we want and to give us some great ideas and to see them through. Every sub contractor she brought in provided great work.

She assesses your things and works with what you have. She uses what you like in her design and does not let her take on things interfere. She makes things not look as old, and did a really good job of bringing fresh design into our older home.
