I purchased a Handyman for a Day deal to have someone replace a few boards and apply a coating product to my deck. These tasks seemed consistent with the ?minor painting, general repairs? listed for the deal details. The contractor contacted me very promptly and when we discussed the services I needed he indicated the task was more of a custom job than a general service. He indicated custom jobs would be priced separately. Based on this conversation my husband and I decided to cancel the deal and pursue other options to have our deck repaired and coated.

I did call this person promptly after their purchase and asked about their needs. She mentioned the deck boards and then something of the painting/staining nature of their deck. I did state that "I would need to come out and Look at the work" because painting a deck is a specialty in my opinion. She went on for awhile and I listened. I believe I stated that I needed to find a time to come out and look at the work, and she stated she was going to consider cancelling the order. I stated that would be OK if that's what she wanted. I believe it was left at that. I don't consider questions being asked worthy of a D. There must have been more to this than she states, otherwise why not let me come out and review the work?

knowledgeable, meticulous--a hard worker who pays attention to detail, I've hired Keith Tindle and Atlanta Custom Construction to fix the various odds and ends mentioned above that needed to be fixed in my home, which is a contributing structure in a historic neighborhood. I have been very pleased with the results, and have just hired him to do major work on my kitchen. I have been very impressed with his work up to now: Keith guides you thru the job, offers advice, and makes sure that everything runs smoothly.
Description of Work: opened paint-shut windows, measured, ordered and installed screens on all the windows, measured ordered and installed chimney cap, fixed minor ceiling water damage, and other odds and ends around the house.

We had a 49.00 Angie's List coupon for 2 hours of Handyman services and wanted to limit the visit to approximately two hours. For that reason, we didn't request more complicated jobs on this visit. Keith Tindle is the owner of Atlanta Custom Construction and did the work himself. While doing the requested jobs, he was able to advise us on other projects we have to work on in the near future. We will definitely call him again and would recommend him.

He arrived on time. Checked out the roofline to see where rats were getting in. He located the whole and gave a price to fix. From the start he was rude and unpleasant and gave a price and then started adding on. We decided not to use him because thought he was so rude and unpleasant.

This woman was rude from the point of knocking on the door. I got on the roof, laid down and looked under the eaves for holes in the fascia boards. I located several areas of concern and 1 area of evidence. I got back down, knocked on the door and explained what I saw. I had a bad feeling from the start; so I said it would be an additional $75.00 to go to HD and get some flashing and she looked at me like I was nuts. Additional costs, on top of the service fee to ride 18 miles from the office? I then said we add 30% onto all material costs; where the flashing would be about $7.00. THAT'S $1.80! Every service trade charges markups on materials! Some companies mark up 100%. So we are talking around $80.00, at most; to go to H Depot, get back on the roof and cover up this hole. (We have a minimum of $125.00 for any service call on 1 hour). She finally says OK to the work to be done. I tell her that I'll be right back, but that I would like the travel fee before I leave. She looks upset on that one, but anyone else I wouldn't have brought it up. I had a bad feeling from the start and I didn't trust this person from the start. She brings the check out from the house and I think to put the ladder back on the truck. I leave and less than 5 minutes later, she calls and says she will make other plans. I can't wait to she that she cancels the payment of the check for travel and estimate charge. And when she does, both her and her husband will be served in small claims court, for the minimum of $125.00. I made a copy of the check, just in case. Never has that happened before, but this person would do something like that. Again people: If you are rubbing 2 nickels together, waiting for the offspring to appear; or just don't understand the service industry; go to your local Home Depot and hire the Mexican on the opposite corner. Be sure to have plenty of chicken, because he will be hungry after you pay him $8.00 an hour to do your bull.... Make sure you have your Homeowners Insurance in order also! Members of Angies' are supposed to be a bit more sophisticated in the matters of business and finance. Again, if you are one of those persons that is just looking to get as much out of someone as you can for as little as possible; we are not your best option!

Overall, the work was completed in a timely manner and probably would meet most everyone?s standards. I tend to be a little on the picky side, and hesitate to give reviews for this reason. The price was excellent, since I had purchased a last change coupon (2 hours/$45) - but I felt Keith Tindle resented having to do the work for that price. My main reason for not wanting to work with Keith Tindle again was his attitude. I found him to be a little too abrupt for my taste.

Keith is friendly and knowledgeable. He also pointed out a major problem with our soffits (rotted out in spots but hidden by vinyl covers, so I was unaware), but he did not pressure me to contract with him to fix them. He also gave me some practical advice on how to rectify some of our rain drainage issues around the house. I will definitely keep Keith's number handy for future work around my house!
Description of Work: Keith with Atlanta Custom Construction did a ton for work at my house for a low price! Here are the tasks he completed: --Removed old range hood and installed new one in kitchen --Removed old screen door and installed new storm door in den (he also went to Home Depot with me to advise on which door to purchase and to haul it to the house) --Propped up gutters and correctly spiked them to the house for proper drainage; also cleaned downspouts (my house is large - 2800 square foot split level, so this was quite an undertaking) --Installed wooden bat house high on side of my house --Filled in concrete under carport concrete slab to shore it up due to erosion --Replaced nonworking light fixture in tool shed --Trimmed large holly bush (is very difficult to trim due to where it is planted) --Cut down small dead tree

Completely untrue.A complete Lie! I e-mailed this women immediately, asked for a list of projects, and one was altering a china cabinet. I asked her to explain what she wanted and for a picture of the plate grove in the cabinet so I could find a router bit to match. Her response was "Good Idea". I also said that Monday was booked but I could get to her by mid-week! I guess she forgot to mention that! She continues this back and forth e-mail process and finally wanted me to come to her location and then; figure out the equipment needed to alter a china cabinet, and then come back and do the work. We are not Furniture makers. After 10 emails, she becomes frustrated and tells me to send her money back! We haven't gotten your money, was my response. I asked if she was in East Lake; she said Kirkwood. Her street is directly off E. Lake Drive. A bombastic, argumentative person. She went from "Thank you for replying so quickly and Good Idea; to Send me my Money Back", within 10 minutes. I asked questions about this cabinet to save time and a trip. Not to her Liking! Unreasonable, idiotic and clearly didn't read the conditions of the offer. We don't come to look at your project and then, schedule the work at another time. Unless you pay a service fee. We are blunt for a reason. If you want to save money and get to the point, we will ask questions. Better before we are on the job vs. while we are there. That's to your benefit. Our service starts when we arrive, not after we look things over, talk, go get what we need, etc. If you don't understand that about service trades, Don't Call Us.

Initially, we were scheduled to meet with Keith at our new house, so he could see the space and understand the full scope of work. Unfortunately, however, the seller (who still lives in the house; we are under contract for 2 more weeks) decided not to allow us in the house on our scheduled day. After scrambling around to find a solution that wouldn't delay the reno even more, we decided to send each contractor we'd called (a total of 4, including Keith) a layout we'd designed online and asked them to get at least a cabinet cost estimate and to meet with us in our current home just to see who we felt we'd have a better working relationship with. From the beginning, Keith was very displeased with this back-up arrangement. He stated several times that he didn't understand how he could give an estimate based on a drawing (it's just cabinets!) and that he'd really prefer to get in to the house himself (us too, but the seller said no!). But, after much convincing, Keith did finally agree to meet with us in our home. Keith arrived on time to our house and was respectful to myself, my husband and our baby daughter. He was a fairly pleasant person to talk with and seemed knowledgeable, however he kept mentioning how good this renovation could be for *him.* (*He'd* really love to do a kitchen in our new neighborhood, *he* sure could use a new project, etc.) Keith also made a point to tell us that he "normally" charges for estimates, but that--again--he really wanted this job so he'd make an exception for us (how generous, considering most of his counterparts give free estimates these days!). During our meeting, Keith gave us two catalogs from his cabinet suppliers as well as a print out one of them did of the layout we designed. I tried multiple times to tell Keith that I didn't need both catalogs (I didn't particularly like anything I saw in one of them), but he insisted on leaving both. The next afternoon, Keith sent a follow-up email to see where everything stood. I did not immediately answer him, as we hadn't heard back from all the other contractors yet, and so--only 2 days after our initial meeting--I get a follow-up voicemail from him... In the voicemail, Keith complains that "some people" like to meet with "contractors like him" and "steal" their information...implying that, since he hadn't heard back from me in 24 hours, that's what I was after, too. He then insisted that I return "his" catalogs (can't he get more from his contacts at the company?!) AND the printouts of MY design! After hearing these things, I certainly had no desire to speak with this man over the phone, so I reply to his email and say that, clearly, we'd be using another contractor but that I would return "his" things the following week (now today), when I'm in the area. I thought that everything was settled after that...until I receive an unknown number calling at 8am this morning...I pick up my phone, only to find that it was Keith, demanding to know why I hadn't returned his things yet. Angrily, I remind him of the email I sent him and ask to never be called again. As I'm hanging up the phone, I hear Keith going on about how he wishes we hadn't "wasted his time..." In summary, DO NOT even contact Atlanta Custom Construction unless you are POSITIVE that you will be using them as your contractor. Otherwise you will be harassed and made to feel like a terrible person simply because another contractor was more professional and better priced.

This woman was clearly out to waste my time. They said from the start that I was the most knowledgeable one they had meet and would soon get back to me on layout plans and cabinet changes. They did neither. I sent an e-mail 2 days later for feedback; no reply. 4 days later; no reply. Before our meeting, she would e-mail or call within 4 hrs. Clearly someone with an agenda. The most for the least. Who ever does work for these guys will be taken to the cleaners, or to court.

I got in touch with Keith about a small job replacing some rotted wood in a screened in porch. He said he was currently renovating a bathroom and he might be able to help me in a few weeks. I would still hire him in the future.

Keith provided us with a detailed estimate of all the work and kept good records for costs not included in the original bid. He gave us great suggestions for design, and accompanied us to the tile store to help us purchase the right items. He showed up when he said he would, kept us informed about the status of the project, and completed it as soon as all the parts came in. The subcontractors that he hired (plumber, shower glass installation) were top notch and very pleasant. Keith was sure to be in the house whenever subcontractors were working. We have had a number of remodeling projects done in our home, and are familiar with what it takes to provide good service. Keith was easy to work with, flexible to our suggestions and questions, and a pleasure to have around. We are so pleased with the job he did that we have hired him for a similar project in our master bathroom. If we have other projects in the future we will call him for sure. He did a really nice job.

After purchasing their Handyman Big Deal coupon for $70, in my phone conversation to make an appointment, the contractor, Keith Kindle very abruptly “instructed” me that attaching the replacement fixture to existing wires was electrical work, not a handyman service, and that I should have known that by reading the disclaimer in the description of his Big Deal offer. While I don’t mind being politely informed that this project needed to be performed by an electrician, he never mentioned a code requirement and his antagonistic tone and condescending attitude, overriding my attempts to speak and ask for further clarification was stunning. I finally was able to say “thank you for your explanation” after which the call was summarily terminated. He was on our call late in the work day while driving. I am fortunate to not have encountered his negative attitude after engaging him as a handyman for a project, which, as it happens, I do have need of.

I instructed this man that: Installing/replacing a Bathroom fan does require electrical connections, and I did also say there is a limit on this work in this offer. He called me the day he bought the coupon and expected me to alter my schedule for him; with services not included. I stated it would be at electricians wages. He also said "Are we going to do Business?" and I replied "It's entirely up to you". One must read the disclaimer on these offers. We are licensed Contractors, have schedules generally already set and these offers are limited. If you can't understand the limits of these offers, call first. But I loss no sleep with men of your caliber!

Keith did a great job. I joined Angies List because I had a bad experience with a handyman service in the area. I feel that I got my values worth out of the membership just on Keith's job alone. He grouted and sealed all my showers and tubs. He also installed new toilet paper holders in the bathrooms as well. He was on time. Very mindful of my sleeping baby and considerate overall of my children. He called to confirm and called again from my driveway (as requested) so I could put my dog up. The grout work was great. His quality of work was excellent. He even removed all the old caulk and started over as opposed to just recovering with sealant (like the other handymen services said they'd do). The seams look straight and clean. He cleaned up after himself very well.

This is what can happen when people do not listen. I called the man last week and said" I'll call you on Sunday to set up an appt. day and time". I did not call back because my schedule got filled up before then. When I got into the office for a minute. a had a message of this guy ranting. I called and tried to talk about the situation, but he continued to rant about how I had messed up his complete day. I heard it 3 times and while I was trying to get a word in, the line was Dead! I said "Hello" several times, without any reply. He had hung up the phone! I e-mailed him last night when I got home and said sorry about the misunderstanding and it was in his court to either "show some restraint and talk civil; forget about the other day and start over; or ask for a refund. He got his refund. If you want service from us, we'd love to have you as a customer. But I do not take lightly rude or demanding people. Think about it before you order.

After I purchased my big deal on Angie's List, Keith called me to set up an appointment. I loved that he did this because it immediately removed this from my to-do list. I described the handyman services I needed performed and we set up an appointment. When Keith arrived, he didn't have all of the supplies needed for the job (my fault, as I thought my husband has purchased window locks for two windows that would not close all of the way). He went to Home Depot and picked these up for me. Again, I loved this because I have an infant and him going out and getting the supplies saved me some time. Keith hung up two shower curtain rods in upstairs' bathrooms that needed to be replaced. But the real work were the windows. We've lived in our home for a year and haven't been able to get two windows in the guest bedroom to stay shut. Part of the problem is that the window locks needed to be replaced but the previous owner also painted the trim, making it nearly impossible to get the upper and bottom windows lined up to a place where we could lock them shut. Keith fixed both windows. As he runs a company that does bathroom remodeling I also showed him stained grout in my master bath and received an estimate on the work needed for this while he was here. Keith was fantastic! My only suggestion for improvement for his company is that he needs to get a GPS system. He had a difficult time getting to our home and was trying to use a map to get here (not possible in newer neighborhoods that aren't on maps).

Keith showed up at the time and dates agreed upon. He worked around my schedule and was a tremendous help as a I am handicapped. He worked at a good pace and got a lot done while there. Keith made sure to keep the work area clean and left the part of my garage he was working in cleaner and more organized than when he started. Keith made sure to let me know ahead of time any additional costs and did not try to overcharge. His prices were very reasonable and work was top quality. I would highly recommend his services as I have had negative experiences with other handymen/ contractors and had none of these problems with Keith.
Description of Work: Keith provided much needed handyman services in my home. He fixed a doorway threshold that was allowing in water, patched and reworked part of my ceiling, fixed wood flooring, fixed doors, hung garage organizers, and fixed a rolling tray/table.

If you are looking for an incompetent, failed contractor to act as a handyman and ruin your project, this is a unique opportunity for you. Best of luck!!
Description of Work: This was the worst contractor imaginable, and I hold Angie's list responsible. The owner was stupid, opinionated and could not understand my multiple attempts at directions to my home. Claimed he did not use a GPS 'cause he didn't believe in them. Then claimed my 20+ year old home was not on any map. So he got lost, got angry, made up excuses and I never heard from him again. Thanks, Angie's list for leading me to trashy service providers.

This person, from the start didn't understand the realm of the "Handyman" service he purchased. He is now,3 months and 8 days later putting in his spiteful remarks. The reality was that he was 20 minutes away at the time of his scheduled appointment; his expectation was for a removal of a chandelier, for it to be replaced by a fan, and some other electrical items that this offer "Clearly said wasn't included " in the service. We do electrical work, but not at Handyman pricing. It is imperative that individuals read exactly what is covered and what is not covered prior to making an appointment or buying a coupon with limited services, based on discounted costs.

After several phone calls explaining that I wanted to build a simple base for reused wall unit to sit on, mr tindle came to my house said that I needed skilled carpentry and it was not handy man service. said the price would be $45.00 hr for 6.5 hours, and couldnt do it today because he didnt have the right tools with him. He said the 49 I spent could be applied but I would decuct trip for today since he gave me an estimate becuse although my area was included he felt I was outside the area . It was at that point I asked him to leave. Typical bait and switch.........
Description of Work: I requested carpentry, since that was one of the options advertised in the price

I did contact the customer; and from the start, thought she was beyond the listed Zip codes of this offer. I still went out there. I was informed over the phone she had a Cabinet that needed a base built. When I got there, she wanted 14' of base built, 16" high, framed and sheathed with plywood; crown and base removed and installed after this massive entertainment sectional was installed. I suggested that we could apply her $49.00 coupon for a $319.00 coupon. She would have none of it. She had no more money to spend and expected this to happen in 2 hrs. Unreasonable. I said "I couldn't help her" and did say I would have to apply the coupon for the service call and time coming out to her property. She never asked me to leave. I was on my way out when I saw what she had expected from the first minute I arrived.
