Warning: Do not use A-Total Plumbing. They screwed me. In the end, they fixed it, but it took 4 days and 34hours to install a water heater. Let me first say, the employees of A-Total Plumbing were very nice and personable. As far as their plumbing skills, I will let you determine that from my ordeal below. I called A-Total Plumbing because I had pipes that sounded like they were rattling. They quickly dispatched two guys. When they arrived, they performed a series of tests and determined I had a leak in the house, and it was coming from my water heater. The water heater was old, so I agreed, they also let me know that I needed a 75-gallon tank because of the size of the house. The cost was almost $7k, but I needed it done so I agreed. They started right away. It was a Friday, so after working on some stuff after 3 hours they told me they would have to come back Monday. I said as long as I have hot water you can come back Monday. And we agreed on that. They told me the job would take about 6 hours on Monday. They arrived Monday morning. • Three hours into the job they told me the water heater would not fit in the spot the old one was, and they needed to move it. I am not sure how they didn't know that Friday or when they arrived on the job on Monday, but what could I do. Shelves had to be removed and part of my storage was given up. • I left them alone to work. Fast forward to 4:30 pm, 6.5 hours later, I go to check on them and they let me know it would be a few more hours. Keep in mind this entire time there is no water to the house and no heat because they told me they needed it off. • About 7pm there was a smell of gas. They told us that they replaced a valve, nothing to worry about. So, we turned the fans on and opened the windows to get the smell out. It was very cold outside, 48 degrees I believe, but we have a baby in the house, so we had to get the smell out and bundled up because I could not turn the heater on. • Fast forward to 8ish pm. This is when they tell me they can't finish the job. There is a part they need that they did not bring. Why they didn’t know that on Friday or even early in the day I don’t know. Obviously concerned and upset, I asked what that meant. They said I will have water, just not hot water. • I asked what time they would be here in the morning, and they said they would have to send someone else because they had a class. They apologized and told me they would do everything except install the one missing part, so it will be quick for the guy coming out. Their shop was closed and apparently, the part could not be purchased at Home Depot. They left. • I went down there to check on the space and found trash everywhere, pipes leaning against the wall, boxes and the old water heater leaning against the wall. They did no clean up and really disrespected my space. I understand that during a job you make a mess, but they told me they would do everything except this guy installing the part. So now what? It was late so I decided I would talk to the new guy when he arrived. I asked when the new guy would be here, and he told me someone call me between 7:30 and 8am to schedule. What? This is urgent for me, have them here as soon as possible. • At 10pm same night, the smell of gas is gone so we close the windows, turn off the fans, and turn on the heater. The heater does not work. I know it is connected because they asked me to make sure the heater was off before they started their work. They told me the only thing I would not have been hot water, but nope, no heat either. At this point it is 42 in the house. We go to bed to get warm. • I call their office. Someone picks up and I explain the issue. The first question they ask me is if I have a membership. What? I just explained that I am in a house with no hot water, which I knew, but now no heat. She said she would mark this as an emergency and have someone call me between 7:30 and 8am the next day. • It is now 8:30am the next day, still have not heard from anyone, so I call. Guess what, I'm put on hold, when the person on the other end comes on, they take my info and have no idea what I am talking about. They are going to call someone else and have someone call me back immediately. At this point I am lost. • It's now 9:30am. An hour has passed and no call. I have called again, and they say the technician is on the way and very close. It would have been nice to have known, but now I am waiting. • It is now 10:36 am and the new guy just arrived. Once again, very nice guy. The previous guys did brief him a little, but there was much more needed than he was told. He has started working and told me that everything would be fixed today. • It is now 3pm and I am told that they have to order another part and it won't be here for 2 days, 5 hours has passed since the new person showed up. But they will keep working on the other stuff. He explained what was going on and next steps. • It is now 8:30 pm and nothing is fixed. Apparently, the previous people from this company did something to the water shut off. They were shutting it off and on fine on Monday, but now Tuesday, it won’t, and the city has to come out. That will be in the morning of day 4. Going to bed tonight with no shower, no hot water, and no heat, luckily it is only 46 degrees outside, instead of the colder it was previous day. They will give me a credit of 5% (not sure how long it takes to post, but haven't seen it yet) and redoing all the duct work the next day to get me working until the part comes in a few days. Apparently, when the new guy touched the duck work, it all fell apart from the previous guy’s work. I feel like most of today was probably them fixing stuff from the previous people. I am told they will handle that situation internally. • Day 4 of Hot Water Heater installation. They showed up at 10am to start the duct work. Also, they got the water off to finish, but it would be off for no more than an hour. Water was off for an additional 7 hours, not the original hour I was told. The reason, the previous guy broke the water pipe coming in the house and it had a small leak. • It is now 5:30pm of day 4 of hot water heater installation and I now have heat. Apparently, the water pipe breaking was more severe and now they have to dig a hole in my front yard and run a new one to get to it so it’s going to take a little longer to get water. • It is now 9pm on day 4 everything has been fixed. I wish I had Jacob, the new guy, on the first pass. Not only was he apologetic, but he really made me feel comfortable and got things done. He was awesome. I'm afraid he might be a diamond in the rough, but I gave one star for him. He did his best and it a good plumber, but I can’t overlook all the damage caused by the other ones. So, in summary, I had an annoying pipe sound, called A-Total Plumbing and after four days, and upsold to buy a water heater, I finally got hot water and heat. I should have just lived with noisy pipes. It was a total of 34 hours between all four days to put in a water heater when the average is 3 hours. My thought is that it took 2 days to fix the damage done on Monday. I now feel like I was taken advantage of, mislead, and out $7k. I'm not even sure now if I needed a new water heater or the bigger one, I was upsold. I have no confidence. I just hope it was done correct. I keep going down, expecting a leak. I found A bucket of water and several wet towels pile in the corner and I’m hoping they’re from the job and not new. Trying to stay positive.

Home owners beware! I purchased new appliances last year and requested a plumber to install my stove and dishwasher in December 2022. The technician pressured me into purchasing a membership for service and discounts. The technician used TACTICS to consult with his manager to make me feel as if I were getting the best deal possible and taking advantage of me as a first time homeowner. The technician Ted was sloppy across the board. He was lacking professionally, time management, installation process, and mannerism. He wasn’t prepared with his equipment, used our tools from our garage, and he made sloppy mistakes with the temperature control. I knew in my heart something wasn’t right when he couldn’t successfully complete the installation and revisited my home on 3 occasions. December 12th, 14th and 20th in 2022. Even during the sensitive holiday of Christmas, the technician scams clients by feeding “fear of failing” in your home. After the “complimentary water heater flush service” that was forced on me, not even 6 months later I have brown water leaks in my garage with a water heater that had NO prior issues before with no complaints on anything. Update June 2023, I’m forced out of pocket to purchase a new water heater (over $2000) on top of the $2000 service charge in less than 6 month timeframe on an issue I never had before A Total Plumbing tampered with my water heater. My word of advice is to please avoid a total plumbing. They will over sell, under deliver, and damage your property.

Be ware! Worst plumber I have ever worked with. Charged $250 to my card without completing the work, didn’t bring right tools to clear sewer drain and run camera. It costs 50% less than these guys if you get correct plumber. These folks are greedy and upsell by misguiding the customer.

Very impressive! I came home from work late to find a leaking water pipe in my basement garage. Brad with A Total showed up in record time and battled the heat and darkness to resupply water to my household. He was in good spirits upon arrival and made no mention of the time of night it was. Brad was exceptionally professional.

The technician was very nice and professional. The service itself was frustrating because at first, nothing worked. Justin handled our frustration very well. He did have to return a 2nd day to complete the job because he did not have the one tool that seemed to release the drain. We felt like if he had that tool, our service would have been less costly since he would not have had to "try other things" The Disptacher was amazing at getting someone to our home immediately. Which we were very grateful for.
