A Total Plumbing was referred to me by my home warranty company. I called them immediately after the service request was entered and after being hung up on 3 times the lady finally answered... the call was placed last night at 7:31pm 12/28/15... I told her what my issue was (sump pump overflowing sewage in my basement) and she said their emergency response person would call me right away to schedule a time to come out... 17 hrs later still no call and after calling my warranty company back I was informed that A Total Plumbing does not service the Dallas GA 30132 area... woulda been nice to get a call from the company instead of being ignored. HORRIBLE customer service... non existent is more accurate. BUYER BE WARE!

Dishonest company. Technician admitted ensuing damage was a result of their shoddy work the first time around. 5 other outside professionals, both plumbers and insurance adjusters, confirmed the source of a water leak (into our foundation wall) was a result of A-Total's original work. But the owner thinks it's a separate issue, which is obviously a lie because he doesn't want to pay for the repair work. Outside professionals also confirmed A-Total overcharged us by $1000 on the original work. Avoid this company at all costs -- I am making it my mission to inform all potential customers.
Description of Work: Fixed a pipe underneath driveway. Didn't complete job, resulting in thousands of dollars worth of water damage in home. Company refuses to own up to work despite having insurance coverage.

The first visit the guy lit the pilot light on our water heater and said the exhaust flue was not properly connected and he could not leave it on. He tried to blame the problem on the ac/heating guys who had recently replaced units. The AC guy came same day and fixed what should have been fixed by A-Total because the exhaust vent was part of the water heaters proper operation. It took 5 days to get A-total to come back and fix the water heater, but all he did was relight the pilot. When he was done and told me that he lit the pilot and if it;s not fixed they would come out again. I told him it was NOT fixed because whenever it is lit it goes back out when the tank was emptied and that it has been doing that for almost a month. He didn't want to do any work to fix the water heater. When the warranty company called them later that day to tell them that the pilot went out minutes after he left, they refused to come back because I was "rude" to him. Evidently telling him he didn't do his job was rude nut it was a truthful fact We now had to wait through the Christmas Day and weekend to get another company out. It has been over 2 weeks with a broken hot water heater.

They were HOURS late. Did not come prepared, had to use some of my tools. Forgot to turn off all water sources and flooded my kitchen. Still had to go to Home Depot to get basic supplies. Left a mess for me to clean up. When they came back to repair the hole, it was the WORST PATCH JOB EVER! The patch did not fit the hole, the seams were poor and sunk in, and mudding was sloppy. I have paid for drywall on 5 different occasions and I think A Total Plumbing in McDonough GA does not know how to do drywall. They need to better equip and train their plumbers. Then the owner, Richard wanted an additional $500 to finish repairing my ceiling. The only reason I used this provider was because it was through my home warranty company.

We spotted a water leak in our main line outside the house after seeing huge water bill. We submitted an online service request to our home warranty company and A Total Plumbing was assigned our work order. In the morning my wife talked to A Total Plumbing and told them that there is a water LEAK OUTSIDE OUR HOUSE NEAR WATER METER and we had to call the city to shut the water off. She said that she will rush the plumber in the afternoon. At around 1:15 PM a plumber (I think his name was Joe) and his helper came. The first thing he asked me was for payment of service charge which was weird because I had home warranty and other contractors come before and it never happened before. I asked him "you want service fee before you do anything??????????" and he said yes it is our policy and there is an additional $2/- charge for credit card transaction (the office told my wife about that earlier). He collected the payment and then called someone and told me that warranty company does not cover leaks outside the house. I asked him that credit card won't be charged, right? He said no it will be because it is our "policy" and that is just for knocking on your door. During this conversation he told me that warranty companies don't cover ANYTHING outside the main foundation, they only cover up to 100 feet for sewage backup. It was clear that he was aware of warranty coverage and their customs. Then he quoted me $375/- just for digging up and finding the problem and repair would be on top of that. This was simply unacceptable so I refused any further service. The plumber told me to call the office and talk to the owners for refund. I called the office and asked them to request a call back from the owner Felicia. She called back and spoke to my wife but refused to refund our money because it was their trip charges even though they knew it won't be covered under home warranty plan. It seems very unprofessional and unethical to me that they charged me trip charges for a trip they knew won't be approved by home warranty company. The office was aware of the leak outside and hence so was the plumber. They were also aware that outside leaks are not covered by home warranty but just wanted to come in any way to get some more business for them and collect trip charges for nothing. They did not even identify the problem. To me it seems so unfair and I want refund of my $77/-. If I had known that this was not covered (they could have told us in the morning) then I would have contacted some plumbers for this unforeseen repair earlier and would have had the chance to shop around for better price
Description of Work: The plumber came to our house, collected the home warranty service fee ($75) + additional $2 and then left telling us that it's not covered under home warranty plan.

We subcontract the work from your home warranty company. They have different coverages for different policy's ,joe called the warranty company after diagnosis of the job and was informed by the warranty company that this was not covered under your policy. We do not have a copy of your contact only you and the warranty company have access to this. We have to call in to let them know what is wrong and they make the decision to cover or not-cover. As far as the service fee the hone warranty company request us to try to collect upon arrival . You can contact them at 1-800-776-4663 and if you told them it was a leak outside they should have told you it was not covered You can discuss with them about the refund . If I can help you in any way you can call me at 770-507-5424

Joe called ahead of time to let my husband know that he was on his way. He arrived on time. When he assessed what was wrong, he knew right away what to do. He "massaged" the drain with a heavy duty plunger and within a few minutes water flowed as if nothing was wrong. He fixed the problem, cleaned up his tools, and left all in under 15 minutes. Great service!
Description of Work: The right side of our double kitchen sink was clogged somehow by potato peels that were going down the left side in the garbage disposal. Joe the technician unstopped the drain.

It took them several days to visit my home, which I guess is to be expected when using a home warranty. The tech, "Cory", came out and was obviously very sick. He should not have been working. Without doing anything, he noticed a piece of a broken flower pot and began trying to convince me that I had terracotta pipes that needed to be excavated. (Our home was inspected one month prior when we purchased the house and I know for a fact that I do not have terracotta pipes). He didn't want to do any work - was convinced that it wouldn't make a difference. I had to pretty much beg him to get his auger and attempt to clear the line. He did, and after about 30 seconds, he told me he couldn't' put the auger in the pipe because there was a major "root blockage" and once again he insisted the only repair would be to pull the pipe out, a cost of nearly $9,000. I had DELTA PLUMBING come out the next day and their technician was able to clear the line with an auger - (previous owners flushed rag/mop pieces and they were causing the stoppage). I called A Total back to explain the situation and spoke with the owner Richard. I tried to explain the situation only to have Richard call me a liar, say I didn't know what I was talking about and then threaten to invoice me for their time outside of my home warranty if I dared to dispute the transaction with my credit card company. I would have never used this company and I hope my warrant doesn't force me to in the future. If you have the severe misfortune of having to use them, make sure you watch over them and make them do their jobs OR just save your time, spend the money and hire people with integrity.
Description of Work: Were called by my home warranty company to address a line stoppage. Mis-diagnosed the issue, tried to convince me I needed my pipes dug out.

I used A Total Plumbing through my Home Warranty. I had three issues, but only two were covered under my home warranty. They came and replaced a broken garbage disposal and also tightened a loose shower head that had been leaking and spraying water in all directions. They were quick and very professional. I received an estimate for the service that was not covered by the home warranty and will probably get some other quotes before calling them back to perform the service. It is something that is not vital to be repaired so I may wait until after winter.

I use A Total through my Homeowners Warranty contract. Had a leak from an unknown source with water damage in closet under the stairwell and on the ceiling. We were pretty sure it was our master bath but the plumber who came said it was our washing machine and tightened everything up. 3 weeks later, the rug and walls were still wet. Called again and this time Cory came out and had the issue fixed in minimum time with minimum mess. It was in fact the master bath shower and he had to cut a few holes in the wall to find the leak and then repair it. He was more interested in fixing the problem than the first plumber and I appreciated his determination. The company called me back right away, had me scheduled for emergency service (on a Friday afternoon) and then bumped me up into a better time slot when one opened. Cory was on time, cleaned up the mess, was professional and gave me advice for how to further fix the cosmetic damage. Even though they are through the warranty contract, I would use them for any plumbing issue outside the warranty. I wasn't happy about the fact that it took 2x to find the problem but I am rating the call for this time and the great job Cory did.
Description of Work: Plumber had to find the leaky pipe by cutting two holes into the wall on the other side of the master bath. He identified the leak was a valve with a poor soldering job on the master bath shower. He re-soldered the valve and repaired the leak.

Things went terribly, I can't believe they shape they left my basement. Mud, dirt, and debris everywhere. The most frustrating part is that they refuse to admit they did it.
Description of Work: All they had to do was put in a new Temperature and Pressure valve in my water heater. Their tech flooded my entire basement! I ! I called and complained and they flat out refused to repair the damage. There are plenty of plumbing companies out there, I would take your business somewhere else.

Although it took awhile, he did eventually return. It's what happened next that is unbelievable. Mike came back to tell me that he couldn't TOUCH my water heater because it didn't meet Georgia code and company policy says that he can't touch anything if it doesn't meet code. Mike told me that he went back to the office (over 40 miles one way) to copy the section of the code so that he could show me (which I already knew as my house was built in the 1960s!) He drove all the way back to tell me he couldn't do anything. How ridiculous! Why not tell me while he was here the first time? Why not call me? I told him a very reputable plumbing company had installed a thermal expansion tank on it the previous week without a question, but my home warranty company assigned A Total Plumbing. AHS Home Warranty company said this company was wrong and what happened was not acceptable, then reassigned call. AHS said A Total Plumbing CAN repair, but can't replace water heater unless brought up to code.
Description of Work: Water heater Temperature and Pressure relief (T&P) valve was releasing water more and more, causing concern about 12 year old water heater. I spoke to Jane to schedule an appt between 3-7 pm the next day. Jane was very friendly and professional. She called the next morning asking if they could come out as soon as possible as they had had numerous cancellations that day. I could not meet them at my home at that time so I said I would call when I returned home. Shortly before the plumber's arrival, DeKalb County unexpectedly shut off the water to update some of the connections across the street. The County reps said it would be back on within 10 minutes or so. The plumber, Mike, came in and looked at the water heater but said he couldn't diagnose anything without the water on and couldn't wait which was totally understandable. The water was back on shortly after he left. I called the office and spoke to Jane. She said she would have Mike turn around and come back. (cont'd below)

Good job on the regulator, but sloppy work on the water heater. The bottom of new water heater was dented. They also also melted the plastic gasket around relief valve and burned the paint. This was not necessary, given that this work should have been done with the valve off the heater, then put on the heater. Neither affected functionality, but not professional. Looks bad. Promised to redo, but have not in a month.
