They could have ripped us off because I thought maybe the pump was gone. But they found something in the pump and just removed it. He could have easily said the pump was gone and we would have to put a new one in, but he did not. He was top notch and you don't usually find that. He was friendly, very knowledgeable, identified the problem right away and fixed it. He cleaned up and there was no problem. Everything went really well. He was really good.
Description of Work: We had a problem with our washing machine and they came out and fixed it. Our washing machine would not get rid of the water.

See above!! He should NOT be in business and have discussed this with the VP of contractor services at Lowes today. If Lowes sonehow ignores my complaint, DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO WORK ON YOUR APPLIANCE!!
Description of Work: They were given our claim on a refrigerator purchased from lowes. Was told it had a major leak and should call lowes and demand replacement. Then agrees with whirlpool that it can be fixed. Comes and sets it up for "test". But does it wrong! Comes back after 3 calls and says instead of a test, he says he fixed it!Then two weeks later it fails AGAIN and they come out a couple of days later, tell me they are calling whirlpool and saying its a lemon and leaves. Next thing i know parts show up at the house. Sit for 2 d*** weeks. After not showing up cause he was too busy, then left his glasses at home, and finally that his son stole his equipment he calls wirlpool and REJECTS our claim. If you want to experience the WORST service you have ever experienced, pleas call David Farrow he is the worst business person I have dealt with in 46 years of life. Call him if you dare!!!!!

The refrigerator at a rental property had stopped cooling. After checking "Angie's List" I communicated to David Farrow my situation. He and his staff were very helpful in helping me to decide if this appliance was worth repairing or if I should opt to replace the unit. He discussed probable repair prices while factoring in the brand's reliability, size and replacement costs. Upon deciding to take the first step (diagnosing the problem), David came to the property promptly and on time. He quickly diagnosed the problem as being a minor repair versus a major repair (i.e., relay failure versus a compressor failure). David quickly obtained the required parts, made the repair, verified the operation of the unit and cleaned up the job site. Since I'm very much a DIY type guy, David was very helpful in explaining the repair, possible causes of the initial problem, and recommended preventive maintenance steps. He also helped me to address another problem with a different appliance at no additional charge. Much to my relief, the final cost was significantly less than what I was expecting to have to pay. Overall, the repair experience exceeded my expectations. This being part of a rental property I didn't want to be penny wise but pound foolish. I believe that David Farrow Services helped me to make the best "value" decision given the information available. David gave me the impression that his objective was to put my financial interests first. That kind of Value Statement is why I'll certainly use them again; as well as taking the time to write this review.
Description of Work: Refrigerator Repair: Unit was not cooling - Gave advice, helped me to weigh options, diagnosed the problem, replaced a defective relay.

The technician, Brian, needed my model and serial number and delayed ordering the part until he had it. Unfortunately he didn't bother telling me he needed it (and why he wouldn't get it when he was working to diagnose the problem is beyond me). I only learned this after going a month without hearing anything and called to check in. I got him the information then waited again. And waited. I called countless times for an update but almost always got voice mail. When I did get to talk with Brian or someone in the office it was always some excuse about the part taking several weeks to order and get in hand. I finally gave up waiting. I hired another company which came, diagnosed the problem and FIXED it before this company ever called back to schedule service. They were unprofessional, dishonest and rude. I kept waiting for them to do the right thing for so long because I was out the money for the "diagnosis" -- which turned out to be the wrong thing by the way -- but decided to eat the money and move on.
Description of Work: I had used this company in the past due to my warranty and had similar problems, but thought I'd use them again since they knew my product. I have a wine refrigerator that stopped chilling. They came out to diagnose the problem. Diagnosed it wrong and then the real trouble began.

It went great! He came within about 3 hrs. of my call. He identified the problem and normally had the parts on his truck, he said. In this case he didn't , but was back the first thing the next morning to finish the job. He was will to go get the part and come back that night, but I told him the next day would be fine. I could not believe how fast he responded to the call. It could not have been better!

I called David Farrow's company on Saturday, January 11th to arrange a service call for my dryer. I spoke with a woman who said she handled the scheduling of service calls. I was hoping to arrange for service that same day, but was told they could not come out that soon. I could have found another repair company on that same Saturday, but since Angies List said David Farrow was a reputable service provider, I opted to wait. We agreed on a service call for Wednesday, January 15th. I requested a morning appointment, as it was going to require either my wife or I to take time off from work to be there when the repair technician arrived. My wife and I both work, and we both have busy, demanding jobs. Our schedules are very tight, and we have many clients depending on us to honor our commitments. The woman arranging service call scheduling told me that I had a confirmed appointment for Wednesday morning, and that the service technician would call me on Tuesday evening to confirm the exact time window for the service. I was told the time window would likely be either 8:00am-11:00am, or 9:00am - 12:00 noon, but that I would receive a call on Tuesday evening to confirm the details. On Tuesday evening, I never received any phone calls from David Farrow or anyone from his company to confirm the service appointment. I waited until ~8:00pm, and then I took the initiative and called David Farrow's number to try to confirm the appointment for the following day. I got an answering service, so I left a message on voicemail, reminding them of our previously agreed service call for the following morning. Approximately 20 minutes later, David Farrow himself (the owner of the company) called me back. He said he had just gotten home, and had not yet had a chance to go through the list of jobs which were scheduled for the next day. He also asked me if I had previously arranged a service call through a woman who handled the scheduling. I told him I had, and gave him my name. He said he would call me back later that evening, after he had reviewed the schedule of service calls for the next day. David promised to call me back that evening to confirm. I waited up until 11:00pm. The phone call back from David never came. I gave up waiting, and went to bed. On Wednesday morning, I again called David Farrow shortly after 6:00am. I again got his answering service. I left a message, asking if he would please call so we could confirm the appointment time window for that morning. David never responded to my phone call. My wife agreed to alter her busy schedule and to take a half day of vacation to be at home for the service call, on the assumption that David Farrow was still going to honor the previously scheduled appointment and show up. My wife and I both made numerous phone calls to David over the next several hours. We left voicemails, sent text messages, etc. Throughout all of this, David Farrow never responded. He simply ignored our multiple calls, and reneged on his previous commitment to call me back. This was a MAJOR inconvenience for both me and my wife. She had to burn a half day of vacation for a service repair contractor who broke a commitment and never showed up. I had to alter my schedule and cancelled several meetings at work so I could drive my daughter to school, in lieu of my wife. My wife and I did all of this because David Farrow's company had told us several days before that we would have a service call that morning. And when I spoke to David the night before the service call, HE NEVER INDICATED THAT THERE WAS ANY CHANCE HE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO MAKE THE CALL. Instead, David chose to blow off the appointment, and then to blatantly ignore our repeated phone calls. What is even more appalling is that later in the afternoon, David called my wife and attempted to make excuses as to why he could not honor his previous commitment to make the appointment. David claimed that he "had a dentist appointment" that morning, which was why he could not fulfill on his promise to perform service that morning. David also claimed that he had "sent a text message to another number", telling us that he could not make the appointment. Neither my wife nor I ever received any text messages from David, however he had already been given BOTH of our cell phone numbers. BOTTOM LINE....David's handling of this matter reflects abysmal customer service, and low integrity. David had received REPEATED phone calls from both my wife and I, and he chose to IGNORE all of our phone calls. He never demonstrated the common courtesy to return our calls. AT A MINIMUM, IF DAVID TRULY DID HAVE A SCHEDULING CONFLICT, HE COULD HAVE AT LEAST HAD THE COURTESY (AND THE COURAGE) TO CALL US BACK ON TUESDAY NIGHT OR EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING TO EXPLAIN THE SITUATION. THAT WAY, WE COULD HAVE AT LEAST MAINTAINED OUR NORMAL WORK SCHEDULES, THEREBY BENEFITING OUR CLIENTS, AND ALSO SAVED VALUABLE VACATION. INSTEAD, DAVID CHOSE TO SIMPLY IGNORE ALL OF OUR PHONE CALLS. BASED ON DAVID'S BEHAVIOR, HE HAS LEFT US WITH THE CLEAR IMPRESSION THAT HE IS NOT AN HONEST SERVICE CONTRACTOR. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU AVOID USING HIS COMPANY, SO HE DOES NOT ABUSE YOUR PRECIOUS TIME THE SAME WAY HE ABUSED OURS.
Description of Work: I had called David Farrow to repair my Whirlpool Dryer. I found his company on Angies list, and as he had good ratings, I thought I would give him a try. This company turned out to be an absolute DISASTER, and I would strongly recommend that you avoid using this firm, as I have found them to be unreliable. Their commitment to customer service is non-existent, and their owner did not even have the courtesy to follow up on his own commitments, return phone calls, etc. For the ugly details, see below.

I did not have him come back to my home. I didn't feel that this person wanted to do the job and when he would be coming back on Saturday.
Description of Work: The son was to call me back 2 hours later and that he would be over in around 1 hour it was 1.5 immediately decided that there was leak and that it could be very costly and he wouldn't do it if it was him $500. I was thinking well that is better then $ 3000. so I talked him into come back Saturday for these long testing to be done then I tried to confirm what time he would be back Saturday He would call me around noon. This was very unprofessional and I paid the $65 service fee I felt like he was seeing how many he Could get done in a day . I called another company had them come out with $7.99 service fee and then called back to this company and canceled my Saturday appointment . No I will not call them again this representative is not a people person representing this company

From our initial phone call to the completed repair our dealings with David Farrow Appliance repair were very good. They came out when promised. Diagnosed the problem correctly. Ordered the parts and were out to repair the refrigerator when promised. It's been a couple of weeks now and the problem is solved. Hopefully we'll get another 35 years out of this refrigerator!
Description of Work: Our 1978 Whirlpool Refrigerator became erratic in staying cool/cold. Had David Farrow come out to see if it could be repaired. He came out, on time and determined that our problem was the fan in the freezer and a switch on the refrigerator wall had gone bad. He was able to order the parts and was able to fix the problem within 2 days of our reporting to him. We were extremely happy not to have to go out and purchase a new refrigerator and that the cost of the repairs was very reasonable.

The diagnostic process employed by the tech showed he had worked on this model of dishwasher (or similar model) before. On first visit he detected the interior cover panel of the door hadn't been attached correctly at the factory and he reseated and retightened the panel screws. The door then shut and latched properly. A door gasket was worn out and needed to be ordered. This gasket was replaced on a second visit.

I called this company largely because they had good reviews on Angie's List, worked on Saturday AND worked on Bosch dishwashers. My beloved Bosch 300 series dishwasher ended a cycle with standing water in the bottom of the dishwasher and no amount of troubleshooting on our end could unclog the drain. Mr. Farrow answered promptly and was able to come out the same day (Saturday). It didn't take him long to find the source of the clog and within 20 minutes my dishwasher was back to normal. The culprit was about 2 tbsps of rice that had accumulated in a pocket along the drain line. While he was there, I had him take a look at my 10 year old Maytag Atlantis washing machine. I'd already had the drain pump and drive belt replaced a month earlier by my usual appliance repair guy. The machine was now randomly skipping the spin cycle after a rinse. I wanted to know if it was worth repairing or should I plan to buy a new washing machine. He took the machine apart, watched it go through a cycle and realized that it was something to do with the v-shaped wire assembly the motor sits on. It was getting stuck and not rotating properly. He cleaned the tracks, adjusted the spring and did something else. Whatever it was, it now works fine. Said I would need to replace the v-shaped harness the motor rides on if it happens again. I knew the dryer vent was clogged, but didn't realize how much it was clogged. My dryer was running hot and taking longer than usual to dry a load of clothes. His son came back later in the week to clean the dryer vent. It was 90% clogged at the exterior exit due to the pipe being crushed. He removed the lint clog and repaired the dryer vent pipe. Took him about 30 minutes and all is well. Worth noting that the company's standard service call charge was $20.00 lower than the company I'd used previously.

I've given a "B" because the tech didn't diagnose the problem correctly on the first visit but to give the tech credit, I had told him that the coil would not heat up and when we tried it again the coil did heat up. As it turned out, however, the coil did heat up but because the connection had deteriorated to such a point that the coil would heat up only a very little bit, i.e., I couldn't cook anything in the oven. After an almost ruined Thanksgiving dinner (I used the second oven) I called the tech back and he replaced the coil.

Everything went fine. Only problem was he didn't arrive at scheduled time. apparently there was some confusion between his son and him over who was taking the call. But I was planning on staying home that day anyway ,so it really didn't matter to me.
Description of Work: He replaced thermal cutoff in my clothes dryer. Because of the way my dryer is vented, this has burned out before. However he was the first one to actually show me a way of cleaning out the long exhaust line that would actually work and prevent this from happening again.

I noticed a water puddle in the front of my Stove. With the Side by Side Refrig next to it and water and ice through the door, it was obvious some part of the water tubing or water valves were leaking. Called Farrow Appliance, and scheduled an appointment in a couple days. Brian I was told was the responder . He called me about 8:10 PM that night gave me a date and window of time, 9:00 AM until Noon. He arrived at 11:45 AM on the date specified and quickly pulled the 22 Cu ft Frig out. It had been stuck to the floor for about 12 years. I had a new water filter, and the water shut off was in a "Low Crawl" crawl space. I had turned the water off some time before Christmas and it was a challenge. Brian replaced the filter, turned the water back on and found a pin hole leak in the main water supply line. There was enough excess tubing to be cut and re ferruled and reattached. Took him about a half hour. Money worthwhile, as the cost of a damaged floor would have been many times over that,. i'm all set for Summer, with Ice and Cold Water available. Good job,Brian.

My overall experience was not very good. I will not call them the next time I need home repairs.
Description of Work: Although they were prompt and completed the work on time, be careful that you truly understand their fee policy. I had two appliances that needed repair, I was told I would be charged a service call fee of $65 for the first appliance and $24 for the second. I was also told that if I did the work with them they would "take the service fee off of the final bill". Brian came to the house to access the repair needs ,since he had to order the parts for the repair, I was told I needed to pay the service fee up front ($65 for the first appliance and $30 for the second appliance, once again being told it would come off the final bill). The following week they came to complete the job. Upon completion of the work I was handed two invoice. Each invoice had the materials used, the service call fees (totaling $95), a Technical Service Time fee of $100 ($50 for each appliance) and tax, they deducted the $95 I had already paid. Having been told the service fee would come off the final bill I expected a credit in that amount, instead I was told "we told you it would be deducted from the final bill and it was". I worked with Brian (the son) who called his Dad for clarity, I could hear their conversation when Dad said "if she is not happy find someone else to do the work, we are the cheapest in town". Make sure you know ALL the fees before doing business with this company.

The skill and work David Farrow's did was exceptional. Unfortunately, he was a no-show two times in a row. We had 4-hour windows set up and when he didn't show by the end of those windows, we had to call to find out what was going on both times. I understand that there can be unforeseen circumstances that may prevent one from getting somewhere on time, but to not inform his appointments at all is unprofessional. A quick phone call to us to let us know he was running late or wasn't going to be able to make it, would have turned the Cs and D into a B at least.
Description of Work: Our refrigerator had been leaking. We had a different company come assess why it might be happening and we did not agree with the assessment, so got a second opinion with David Farrow's. The technician found an crack in our drip pan and saw evidence of the leak. He ordered the part and once he came back (see notes below), he was able to install and repair the leak. No leaks since!
