First I would like to say my previous review was written months after the inspection took place I wrote the original review in December 2016 and the inspection took place in April 2016 because of the time lapse I confused the services of 770- Arborist with another tree service. When I contacted 770 Arborist I was gathering information and it was the first business I picked.d I am the type of person to get several opinions and due to the lapse of time I got this business confused. In the end 770 Arborist was one of the business who gave me the sound correct information and did indeed provide the expert information as stated in the ad and as a result I did follow the expert advise of 770 Arborist Mark a did an excellent job in providing information as requested

It was fine. The estimate and everything was fine, but I think we ended up deciding to wait for the work. We had to pay a fortune for them to come out. It would have gone towards the work if we had had the work done, but we didn't. Tree removal is way too expensive. He was fine, he gave us some information. They came right out. We didn't have a problem, we just decided to go in a different direction and wait.
Description of Work: We purchased a big deal from them. It was $129 for tree assessment. They came out and gave us an estimate.

I agree, tree work is expensive. With workers comp, taxes, and all of the overhead we incur, all of those costs add up. In fact, as the owner, with the LARGE majority of that money running through my hands and out to pay bills, I often wish I could keep it. But I can't because these are simply the costs incurred when you run a legitimate business. I will mention one thing. I personally would not classify $129 as a "fortune" to have an ISA Certified and Tree Risk Assessment Qualified Arborist assess your trees. As you mentioned, if you opted for us to perform tree work, you do get that $129 as credit, but to eliminate potential bias, we come out with zero expectation of "selling" any work and MANY times we consult with clients telling them that they don't need what other tree services are trying to sell them. But in order to do that, we have to get paid to offset our time. With Atlanta traffic, many times our 1 hour appointment take 3 hours to complete. I personally feel that $40 per hour is pretty affordable for the value of getting an unbiased opinion of your tree situation. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience. Mark

Lance did a phenomenal job! His knowledge, attention to detail, professionalism, and friendliness was extraordinary. As he inspected the trees he answered all of my questions in a way I could understand and I learned a lot about the trees on our property. If we decide to get the trees trimmed in the Fall, we will definitely go with 770-Arborist.

Great company even when they are providing great information over the phone.
Description of Work: So let me start by saying we are in Los Angeles, CA. 770-Arborist is actually in Atlanta. Through some mix up we were given this companies information on Angie's List...They are not in our town, but thanks Angie's LIST for putting us in touch with a well informed cordial gentleman named Mike who directed us newbies in the right direction with regards to a tree we needed to trim in our yard. Invaluable information and great guy. Very professional outfit!

We had a sticky situation with a neighbor regarding a large Oak tree (80-100') very close to the property line. The neighbor was planning on re-landscaping the nearby area - as our development is ~ 20 years old. There were some large bushes ~3 feet from the tree and some re-sod areas ~ 10-15 feet from the tree. 770Arborist took the time to walk through the options to minimize the risk to the Oak - as that species tend to be very sensitive to root/soil/hydrology changes. (I can attest to this as in past houses we have lost 10-15 Oak trees due to root disturbance).
Description of Work: Spent 22 minutes on the phone reviewing our situation via google maps (aerial 3D views) - and talked over options. Very professional and pragmatic in approach to solving the problem. I will definitely use this company in the future.

Man where do I begin. First off Mark the owner is super friendly, professional and knows his trees! He came out and consulted with us back in December and gave us a quote, and was honest in how we should accomplish the large task... wait until you can just knock it all out and then do it. Well months later, that time came, we called back, he remembered us and picked right back up. He came back out consulted with us again, got the approval we needed from the city and got to work. His crew was amazing!!! Came at 8:30 sharp and work their butts off for two days straight. We literally just sat and watched in amazement and how good they were. They even took care of a dead tree and broken branch that was dangling on a tree just over our fence line. They were very strategic in the ones that were right next to the house and were very careful when placing the large amount of logs by the street. The even blew off our driveway and the mess off the street before they left. Bottom line, I would HIGHLY recommend Mark and his team for any tree job!
Description of Work: Cut down about 22 pine trees of various sizes. Some were dead and small and some were quite large and thick. Grind existing stumps we had as well as the stumps from the trees that were cut.

It was a pleasant interaction with solid guidance.
Description of Work: I reached out asking how to deal with an overgrown tree and Mark provided a quick and honest assessment. He provided quality guidance that highlighted how other professionals were looking to rip me off and what the best approach would be (use GA Power as they should handle the issue). I would go back to 770 Arborist without a seconds hesitation for future needs.

Response from 770-Arborist
This client bought our storefront deal via the Angie's List website. After she purchased the deal we looked at the job in person and we were forced to refund her money because her tree was within 10 feet of the power lines which requires that the tree needed to first be "cleared" from the power company with an insulated bucket truck by a line-certified operator. Most residential tree services do not do “line-clearing” work, and thus are not line clearance certified at it is a utility-contract type work. The client shared with me that she ended up hiring residential tree removal company who decided to ignore the rules, take a chance, and attempt to take down the tree anyway. In the process, a large chunk of the tree they cut hit and tore off the power line, which then fell on and caught their chipper and two chipper trucks on fire. The police and fire department were called out and reports were filed. Thankfully no one got hurt in the incident. There are requirements in our industry that have to be followed and we do not take chances as it is simply too dangerous. She took the time to give us an “A” because in hindsight, she ended up seeing why it would have been safer not to take chances.

Found Mark on Angies List and got the trees assessed last year . He spent quite a lot of time in assessment and explaining. Contacted him again this year and he quickly pulled out the assessment he did last year and we scheduled the date for the tree cut job. A day earlier than the scheduled day he came with Lance and explained him the job. On the day of the job Lance and his crew came at the scheduled time and did an excellent job. They did not rush and did the job professionally and Lance even asked me if we want anything else done. They also left heaps of Mulch from the trees for us. you should check Mark's website- abouttrees.com- for free mulch. It is an environment friendly way to use cut down trees and good quality mulch for free! We chose Mark for his professionalism and we are happy that we did . Will refer Mark and Lance to friends and Family.

I was very pleased with the services provided. I've never seen such a well-oiled machine, they literally worked the entire day with the exception of lunch. They have it down to a science. Mark went to great lengths to make sure I was happy. All the trees were taken care of, and a few more than anticipated were limbed. The difference in our lot is remarkable. We can actually get sun on our deck now, and I believe we bought another 5 years on our roof. These guys are really good and I have already recommended them to my brother-in-law. We have plenty of trees still to spare so it's possible I will be having them back.
Description of Work: Mark came out and did a full a full walk of our property. We have a small lot jam packed with towering trees which provide a canopy that shades the entire lot. Mark gave us his assessment of the health of the trees along with recommendations of which could/should be taken down and others that could just be limbed to accomplish our goals. Our goals were to provide some breaks in the shade, remove unhealthy and dangerous trees, and protect our roof. There were no hard sales pitches and we got exactly what we paid for--an assessment. Once we had Mark's report, I asked if 770Arborist could perform the services as well as move some mulch which had been previously dumped on the lot (a LOT of mulch). He replied that they could and gave me a price for a full day of work which would address all of our needs. The quote included taking down 8-10 trees in various sizes, limbing numerous others (virtually anything that came over the roof), and moving the mulch---they would basically keep working until the 8 hours was up. I was pleased with the price, considering the number of trees that would come down.

Lance walked the property with us and listened to what we wanted to accomplish both now and eventually. He gave us a price for both but I didn't feel pressured to do more than we were ready to do at this time. There were also options for disposal of the trees we had taken down, which made a difference in the cost as well. Since we use firewood every year, we chose to have them leave the trees in pieces for us to move and split. They cleared a large amount of underbrush and lower limbs and took down some dead trees and cleaned everything up when they were done. I would recommend them and will absolutely use them again.

Just moved to Georgia from a state that has more dirt than trees. My 2 acre yard has loads of beautiful trees that were even to my untrained eye in a sad state. The huge pines in the front were a great worry to me because of the Ice storm I experienced my first weeks in the house. I called other Tree companies to get quotes and although comparable to 770-ARBORIST they just didn't give me confidence that they would complete the job or even do the work that was necessary for the health of the trees. The reviews I saw backed up my suspicions. I found and read reviews for 770-ARBORIST here on Angie ' s list and Yelp. I called and spoke to Mark who explained that they would send out the Arborist for a fee, which was very reasonable to ascertain what work needed to be done, then if I had the work done the fee is deducted from your balance. Lance, the arborist, promptly met me the next day and walked my entire property patiently explaining what needed attention, listening to my concerns and letting me know what was important for the trees and what was merely cosmetic so I could weigh the cost. I felt very comfortable with his recommendations. I agreed and within two days Lance and his crew promptly showed up and began working checking with me to make sure I was happy with the way work was progressing. Lance, Mike and Ricardo worked steadily throughout the day and even a little later than expected to make sure all was done. The yard and trees look beautiful this morning and I slept wonderfully now that I can stop worrying about my trees. The crew cleaned up and left me mulch as requested. I am very pleased. Thanks guys!

I have lots of trees, many in the 75' to 100'+ size. Many close to the house. Lance came out to do the inspection and checked 20 or more trees near the house....and he identified one smaller oak tree that is 20" at the base and about 60 feet tall that was about 10 feet from the house, that he claimed had a hollow core at the base. He determined this all by sound with his rubber hammer. Well, today, 11/15, Lance's crew came out (while we where at church) and removed the tree. They did call ahead of time to let me know when they would be there. I took Lance's expertise and recommendation at face value and he was indeed correct. Because of the number of trees in my yard, I plan to have 700-Arborist back on a yearly basis...just to check.
Description of Work: Had a $129 tree inspection done at my house on approx. 11/2/2015. One tree removed on 11/15 (yes 11/15) for an additional $296. $129 credit used to lower cost from $425.

Wow! Thank you for taking the time to explain your experience with other Angie's list members. Also, thanks so much for taking the time to upload that picture. This is exactly what we look for in our tree risk assessments. So many trees have defects inside that homeowners simply don't know about, and this is what the tree risk assessment qualification course from the ISA trains us to look for. When we perform tree risk assessments, we walked the area surrounding the house where trees could potentially fall an impact. Obviously in this case that tree would likely not have caused a lot of damage due to its size, however, there's no need letting a tree was such a huge defect get bigger and therefore more costly. One last thing of note, to anybody thinking about potentially removing a tree, we specifically offer the tree risk assessments as a standalone service so that you know beyond a shadow of a doubt the information that you receive is unbiased. It's always good to do this especially if the trees in question are of some value. Thanks again and happy new year!

Upon initial meeting with rep. from 770-Arborist, he was professional, on time, and walked my property to make sure other trees were healthy. He determined that the one dead tree leaning toward my house had to go, and another dead one on the back part of my property could damage my fence line should it decide to fall. He had a quote prepared within a week of his visit, and once I returned the quote and gave them the ok to complete the job, the rep called me to let me know when he and his crew would complete the work. They removed the trees without incident and stacked the cut logs at the back of my property (which we had decided to do) neatly. There was really no trace left behind that they had been in my back yard. We had had a lot of rain the week prior and I thought the back and forth on my grass would have left a muddy path. But no, everything was cut down, removed and both my gates locked.

A doorbell-ringing tree service company had asked if we needed any tree work done. We were considering removal of two trees that we thought might be dying and if so, could damage the neighbor's driveway, fence, and possibly house. That company gave us a price of $1800 to do that work but $1300 "only if we signed up today." Their sales tactics didn't impress me very favorably so I checked Angie's List and purchased the 770-Arborist deal to evaluate all the trees on the lot. They advised us that the trees we had considered taking out were fine and didn't need to be removed. They checked all the trees and said most should be good for another 30 or 40 years, but we would do well to remove some dead branches and trim some trees away from the house. They gave us a price of $2300 to do that, which we agreed to. We left the timing flexible so they could work it into their schedule during a certain week. They called one morning and said they were finishing up another job and could devote the afternoon to ours, and we agreed. Shortly after that they showed up with a crew of about five men and a supervisor, all of whom went about their work diligently and competently. We have a large garden model railroad in the side yard and were very concerned that nothing be dropped on any portion of the railroad. They were very careful. All branches were carefully lowered on a rope, none were just dropped. Everything was done in a competent, systematic manner. When they were almost done, the supervisor came to tell me that one small tree had a hornet nest near the base of the trunk. They hadn't noticed it in the earlier examination and said with the nest there, the tree would probably need to be taken out with a year or so. One member of our household had been stung by a hornet but didn't know where it came from, so we decided to go ahead and take it out, which they did for another $100. We were totally pleased with the service. We hope we don't need any more tree service for quite a while, but if we do, we will definitely call 770-Arborist.
Description of Work: Evaluated health and status of trees on a large lot, cleaned out dead branches, removed branches that could damage house, topped some trees, located a hornet nest in a tree and removed that tree. Chipped removed material and cleaned up.

When our 20+ yr old tree was hit by a car, the insurance company wanted to know the the amount for damages. I honestly had no idea where to begin, as the tree was still standing and part of a grouping. My questions included: Will the tree live? If it dies, what is the cost to remove? Removal of just the damaged tree would be unacceptable as they are a focal point grouping, so the over-all damage needs to take the entire group into consideration-What would be an appropriate figure for that cost? And many other questions. I went to Angie's List to see if I could find a provider with a good review that might be able to help. I started with 770ARBORIST and called them. I wasn't even sure this was who I needed to call, but was hoping they could help, or at least point me in a direction on what company could help with assessing the damages. I spoke to Mark, the owner, and he was so kind and helpful. We discussed the issues and he sent someone out to look at the situation. Mark considered everything regarding our loss- damages, removal, replacement of the group, appreciation, etc. and put together everything I needed to send to the insurance company in a clearly defined proposal. His proposal was instrumental in our receiving an appropriate settlement from the insurance company. He is nice and pleasant to work with, professional, knowledgeable, and worked completely on our behalf, from the proposal to suggestions and advice on what our process should be regarding the trees. I would definitely use them for tree removal if needed, and if you want an honest consultation on exactly what is in your best interest, you will be glad you called them.

We have a very large tree in our front yard. During a storm, a large branch snapped, but had not fully detached because the end of the branch was resting on our roof. We were immediately concerned for damage to house that would occur if/when the branch finally detached. I called Mark and he went above and beyond in helping us with this issue. His crews were already booked for the near term, so he came out to our house himself to inspect the situation. He talked me through what needed to be done and performed the work himself that day (1st day after originally contacting him). He was extremely fair on pricing. I would definitely recommend his service and will be calling him again for any future tree service.
Description of Work: Removed a large tree branch that had snapped, but had not fully detached because it was resting on our roof.
