Gary's custom building, tiling, and cabinetry work is impeccable, and on the rare occasion he makes a design decision that doesn't match expectations, he is fair and professional in negotiating changes to the original plan. As to his craftsmanship and work ethic, a minor crack in a grouted shelf led to some water seepage. When called, Gary corrected the error immediately, and repaired the minor water damage within 24 hours and at his expense. I now have a beautiful bathroom with a tiled floor, a tiled walk-in shower and custom-built hand-rubbed knotty pine cabinetry, for a price that while not a discount, didn't break me either. Gary is a thorough professional, and his work always shows it. If there is any downside, it is that he is often in such high demand that he may not be available when I am ready to have work done. He is worth waiting for.

We loved the look of the old bridge, so we asked Gary to build us a copy of it, and he did exactly that. He's built us the new bridge that has the same look, but much stronger, reinforced structure. We absolutely love it! Gary was great to work with, very attentive to details and all our requests. His craftsmanship skills are superb. His wife Debbie helped, delivering materials and cleaning the work site. They are an amazing couple and just a pleasure to talk to. They both made these projects so enjoyable, and the results are beautiful.

The experience overall was good, even though he didn't end up building the deck for me.

I was trying to find someone who would be able to fix my mother's bathroom. I don't remember if this person returned my phone call.

ADVICE: GET IT IN WRITING! I wish I could give Gary a higher score but we have some issues: - Price and Responsiveness: I really wanted to get everything in writing but couldn't pin him down on this. We definitely had a communication problem. The initial price for the shower was $3000. I knew we would be spending more for additional work. I drew plans for shelves and cabinets and made a copy for him. He had done some lovely cabinetry for our neighbor. We talked about different ways to install the shelves: floating vs visible braces. However, we didn't get shelves or cabinets. I had to re-purpose another cabinet that is now sitting in front of the toilet. What we did get was a tiled floor for another $1250! Some of that was for putting in the medicine cabinet, removing rotted studs, and the walls?? It's not in writing so we're not sure! My husband and I were really stunned when he came by for the last payment! Maybe the misunderstanding occurred because some of the old floor tiles had to be removed for the larger shower pan and looked pretty ragged. But I told Gary that, since I'm handy, I would fill in the gaps after recovering from surgery and put in sticky tiles over the old tiles to save money. Next thing I knew he was removing all the old tiles! So just a few weeks after surgery I had to go tile, thin set and grout shopping! - Punctuality: We knew there would be a lag time of a week due to making the shower walls and pan (BTW, we couldn't get any literature from that company!) after Gary fixed the rotted walls and got measurements. Gary often does on call work for landlords on their rental properties, which is fine, but there were a few times he didn't come as "promised". I was a bit stressed out due to having all the mess (unavoidable, of course) while recovering. He cleaned up what he could as he went along. It was finally done about 3/20/13. -Would we use King Construction again? Yes, if we can get a written agreement and clear up the miscommunication problem! - Summary: I really like Gary and his wife Deb. We have shared "handy person" interests and I liked talking to him about how to accomplish our goals. As I said the floor looks great and I'm glad we did it. But ..... we wanted the storage more. Also, I had been researching exhaust fans but he got one on his own (not what I would have picked), which seems to have very little suction: I tried the paper test (it failed) and the bathroom is still muggy. Need to keep the window open: OK in spring and fall only! The real kicker was not getting a heads up on the final price since we were on a budget.

Everything is looking great! He is fantastic and does a great job! He is willing to work with you on payments and is very flexible.

They arrive on time, as scheduled. Evaluated what I was asking them to do. Responded in a timely manner with an estimate. Have not used them yet, as the project is on hold.

Most recently he cut and cleared trees from my property. He cut large trees safely, rigged them to fall properly, cleared away the debris, cut the trunks for firewood and stacked them for seasoning. His work is always top notch, his communications clear, and his prices absolutlely fair and reasonable, neither too high nor too low. He continues to be one of the most professional home remodel and repair contractors I've had the pleasure of working with, and my home shows it.

Plants were invading my roof so i needed to find someone who could clear the roof so i went to Angie's list and found King construction called them and Mr. King responded right away by coming to the house to a**** the problem. When he saw what was it all about he said he would do the job next day by noon which he did on time, I'm very happy with his performance.

We'd finish one project and decide to do something else I was very, very pleased with the way all of the projects turned out. I would use them again and have recommended them to friends

He came out and gave me an estimate. He was there when he said he would be. I felt the price he gave me was fair. He came back and did the work and it looks really good. Now he's putting up my fence and steps. I've met his wife, they're both good people. He has done what he said he was going to do, when he said he was going to do it. They have both been a pleasure to work with. We'll be doing more projects in the future.

Mr. King consistently charges less and provides professional builder/contractor services for all kinds of remodeling and building projects. He works slowly, but his work is of the highest quality. It is important to write down your exact requirements and charges. He will not overcharge you, but occasionally will need more time if the job is more involved (discovery of pre-existing damage, bad weather, etc.) The finished product will be exceptional.
