Went great. see above
Description of Work: We had at least 5 companies, well known ones, come to discuss the addition of screened porch on our house, give suggestions and submit an estimate. After we had rec'd these estimates, I heard about Atlanta Better Decks & Arbors (ABD&A) from a neighbor who raved about the quality of work and level of service of this company. My husband is very handy, and was impressed with the quality of the structure of how her porch was built. He wanted to do some of the interior finish work himself on our porch to save money, and some companies refused to work with us on that. Levi Beckman, owner of Atlanta Better Decks and Arbors, not only was willing to work with us, but he actually gave my husband professional advice, hints and suggestions on how they finish interiors to make it easier for my husband (i.e., provided the names and contact info for stone masons who could be trsuted to assist my hsband in buidlin the front of the stone fireplace). Levi came over several times to discuss the proch addition, gave us a drawing to be sure we were all on the same page and we all had the same vision, and an estimate. Although the estimate was not the cheapest of the 5 we rec'd, it was also not the most expensive, and based on the quality of my neighbor's screened porch, and what was included, we thought it was a very fair price. Again based on firsthand recommendations, we decided to go with ABD&A. We were not disappointed. Levi is probably the most honest, easy going and patient contractor I have ever had the pleasure of working with over the last 25 yrs. He listens to your vision and your expectations and is honest and communicates well so we had no surprises. And he truly cares about the satisfaction of the customer. I am quite anal, and regardless of how many times I called him, he or the job foreman responded within hours; if I changed my mind once I could visually see a structure in place (which I did with the location of the stairs and the landing, and with the number of porch columns that were erected), because he was most intersted in my being happy with the porch, even if it meant some extra work on his crew's part, he accomodated my changes. He provided a realistic time line for us for when the job would start, what could be expected by day 3, 5, 7, etc, when each deposit installment was due, and when the work would be completed. The crew showed up, led by foreman Andy (who is Levi's brother and just as accomodating and patient as Levi), exactly when they said they would. We ran into some snags that were totally due to a delay in my bank receiving funds for the next installment, but Levi again bent over backwards to work with me. Another example: to build the gable ceiling for this porch, we had to remove one of the windows in a 2nd story bedroom that was in the way of this new porch ceiling. My husband was supposed to do this but got called emergently out of town for work. In order to keep the job moving, Levi's guys removed the window for my husband, no charge, and sealed the hole in the wall so no rain would come inside until my husband had time to finish the inside of the wall. My porch is beautiful and I am so glad we chose Levi to complete it. there is still some finishing work my husband has to do, but we already have spent many evenings and weekends relaxing out these and I couldn't be happier. I would go to great lengths to recommend ABD&A, not only because the owner and all the men who worked here were honest and dependable, but because of the level of service I received, and how little stress I expereinced dealing with a quality contracter who means what he says and has your satisfaction as a priority.
