Chris and his wife were awesome from start to finish. They were punctual, professional, and efficient. There was nothing I needed to do after they left. I would definitely recommend this tree service to anyone I know and will call them for any future needs. I again want to thank them for a job......WELL DONE!!

My husband and I recently purchased our first house in October. Our large oak tree in the front provided great curb appeal, but we had no idea how to trim/maintain it, or manage the pollen plague that was turning our cars green. After a neighbor suggested we get it trimmed I came to Angie's List to search out a trimming service, not really knowing what I was looking for, whether we truly needed it, or an estimate for what it may cost. After seeing all of the great reviews, I wondered if AK might be too good to be true. I called Chris and left a voicemail to get a quote on a Saturday but assumed that was his busiest day, and didn't expect a return call until Monday. To my surprise I got a return call within 30 minutes and we scheduled the free estimate for 2 days later when Chris was going to be in my part of town (thus, the A rating for punctuality). When I got home from work the day of the estimate I saw the quote nestled into my front door, which included an Angie's List discount. I called Chris and his wife back to ask them a few questions (ok, a lot of questions) which they answered fully. They explained Chris' 20+ year arborist history, how the tree should be trimmed to produce optimal growth, what they were going to do, how they were going to do it, and how the tree should grow after the trimming. They were polite, responsive, and just seemed like nice people - you can tell they work hard to run a small business that means a lot to them. Once I decided to schedule the actual trimming, Chris warned me that the trimming would be substantial and that it may seem bare at first, but that a trim was long overdue and should last 3-5 years. As a new homeowner, I appreciated this sort of information. Chris confirmed that I didn't need to be at my house for the trimming, and that he would leave the final bill in our first door, just like the estimate. He also stated he wouldn't take any credit card information from me until after I came home to inspect the trimming to make sure we were happy with it. Chris and his team were able to make it out to our house from the trim less than a week after my initial call for a quote. Although I wasn't home while the actual work was being done, what Chris described is exactly what happened. 2 large branches (one over the roof, and one over the side walk) were trimmed, the canopy was lifted, and all branches were hauled away. There was no damage to the house, landscaping, or grass. The bill was at our front door when I got home, and I called to arrange payment which was easily done by credit card over the phone. Since we've had it done, we've gotten lots of compliments on how the tree looks and people are shocked at how reasonable the price was for what we had done. Overall, working with AK Tree Services was a very enjoyable experience and I'll definitely be calling them again if we need future services.

Crew was on time did a great job and a great job in clean up. Very satisfied!

Finesse - "A refinement or delicacy of workmanship, artful management". This is what AK Tree brought when I hired them to remove an enormous Pine, nine Oaks and trim the dangerous branches of another. Right away I could see the thought, planning and skill Chris and his entire team employed and it immediately put me at ease. They climbed and they roped and I was fascinated by the different cuts and tactics they used for each tree. And after they were done not so much as a twig had landed anywhere near my home, air conditioner or fence. And Chris's dependability was flawless. He'd call when he said he would call and he came when he said he would come. If he thought he might be delayed he'd call to keep me informed, but he was never late. That's reliability beyond the norm and I greatly appreciated it. To sum up I really enjoyed having Chris and his team over that day and my property looks lovely. Good job! Thanks guys!

We were so impressed with Chris and his wife and their crew. We originally called another top Angie's List company, and they wanted to remove four (!) oaks and charge us upwards of $6000. We called Chris for an estimate and he only wanted to remove the two hazardous oaks (wood borers and rot), and trim all the others back to health. Plus he beat the first company's price by almost two-thirds without knowing what their estimate had been - AND he didn't ask if we were on Angie's list until he had already given his estimate (the other company had "built in" a coupon they knew we had before giving their estimate... right.) We have a tree removal moratorium in our city, so obtaining permits from the county to remove hazardous trees is incredibly frustrating. After I spent several days playing phone tag with the city and county offices, Chris' wife took it upon herself to drive down and submit the application for us, and the county inspector was there to permit my trees in two days. They know what they're doing! (Side note: I have no idea how the original top-rated company was planning on getting permits for the two healthy trees they insisted needed to be removed.) The actual work was scheduled quickly and completed in a professional manner and without any heavy machinery other than the stump grinder (and those were tall trees!) It took two days rather than one because he had a couple of sick crew members, but that was no big deal. At one point during the work, an angry neighbor came storming over to yell at us about violating the tree-cutting moratorium, but Chris' wife intercepted her before she reached the front door, told her we had the proper permits, and firmly sent her packing - something I very much appreciated! When everything was done, the entire yard was cleaner than it had been when they arrived. Everything beautifully trimmed and neat little patches of dirt where the three removed trees used to be. Bottom line: we would recommend AK Tree Service unreservedly. They are hardworking, honest, talented people who are more than willing to go above and beyond for their customers.

The crew arrived right on time and were very professional. Worked very efficiently to take down a large oak tree in a matter of a few hours, which included all the clean up. I would definitely use this company again and recommend them to my family and friends!

We were delighted with all aspects of their work. They were always punctual, very thorough, knowledgeable and showed great integrity. I suggested some trimming that Chris said wasn't needed and might harm the tree. Others might have done the trimming. The crew also helped size and haul some wood that I saved for the fireplace. I recommend them without reservation.

Chris is an arborist and very personable guy who is passionate about taking good care of trees. He's quickly responds to calls to set up estimates, and clearly explains what he'll be doing. The crew worked quickly and efficiently and did a good job of cleaning up. Chris also voluntarily blew all the leaves off my screen enclosure and walkways. I would definitely use them again.

You can tell when speaking with Chris that he really cares about trees and he is focused on saving trees rather than whacking them down like some others. We ultimately had to remove two oaks and we thought Chris and his crew did a great job taking them down as well as pruning our other trees. His price came in well below other highly rated Angies List companies so we were definitely pleased with the value we received from his service. If I have to say anything negative, it is that he had some crew members call in sick so we had to reschedule a couple times which was a bit of an inconvenience but nothing major.

They trim our palm trees. It turns out great. Usually when I call he's able to come out within 4-5 days. He is very clean and leaves the place looking better than when they got here.

Chris and crew showed up on time and worked all day. Some of the trees needed extensive pruning. I was impressed with all the work they did in one day. We are very pleased with the way everything was handled.

Knowledgeable, but price was much higher than other estimates. Did not opt to use this company.

He was fantastic. He was great. I really like him and I think they did a great job. He definitely knew all the plants and what to do with them. He did not just come in to cut things down. He is an arborist. He knew what was best for each particular plant and tree that I had him work on. He did a phenomenal job of trimming the trees the right way. He gave great advice on how to save some of the ones that were endangered. He was very personable. He is easy to talk to and explained everything very well to me. I would definitely absolutely use him again.

The service and this crew were outstanding!. The owner of AK Tree Service is Chris Akonom, wife Dannie, amazing climber Charlie, and assistants Chris and Isaac. You will not find a more professional, skilled, hard working and thoroughly nice team. From first contact to last, they followed through on everything and went above and beyond. This was a big, two day job. We just bought this house and the trees had not been attended to for years. The owner, Chris, is an arborist and gave us excellent advice. After the first day and the removal of the two big pines, with Charlie climbing and working from the top down -- amazing to watch -- the crew cleaned up thoroughly. Same was true at the end of the job. All debris was gone and everything was left in good order. We continue to be amazed at the quality of work performed. Add to this the fact that this is a thoroughly pleasant group of people who enjoy and take pride in what they do. We highly, highly recommend AK Tree Service without reservation.

Chris responded to my call in one day to survey the job and provide an estimate. He is a true tree professional. You can tell he loves the work based on his deep understanding of the needs of each plant and tree. As we walked the property it was like I was going to tree school. He really knows his business. After a thorough estimate of the job, Chris also explained the experience levels of he and his crew. They have many, many years of tree service work in the Tampa area so they are familiar with the needs of this climate and the local regulations. I was very happy that they didn't damage anything in the process. No sprinkler lines were cut. No sprinkler heads were crushed or broken. And most importantly, no holes were poked in the screens of my pool cage. I realize that's not always something you can guarantee, but they took extra care and it paid off for both of us. Finally, he gave me the Angie's List 10% discount without blinking. And that was after he gave me the quote. So it's not like he could have padded the original quote to compensate for it. That 10% off easily paid for my Angie's List annual membership!

Chris with AK Tree removed a large tree from our yard today and did an excellent job. His was quick to respond to emails and setting up a time for removal was a breeze. He is very knowledgable about the different tree species and his crew was on time and professional. It was impressive to watch them remove the large branches over our house without the tree ever touching the house. All debris was removed and the stump grinding was thorough enough to allow for future plants to be planted right over where the tree once stood. If we had any other trees to remove he would be the first person I would call. Also - We got quotes from 3 of the top tree services in our area from angies list and his price was the best.

Reasonably priced, very knowledgeable and very thorough. Cleaned up and cared not to damage other plants. The best tree company and tree service I have used so for. Really informed about trees and their diseases.

After each day all cuttings were removed and the yard was cleaned. I received a call each day with an update. They were knowledgeable about each tree species and were interested in preservation instead of just cutting. All personnel were very professional. All stumps were ground down below ground level,

I decided to use him because I have used him in the past and I was happy with his service. He is very reliable, reasonable, and professional.

We had two trees in the back of our yard, one pine that had died and an oak that was diseased. They were in the very corner of the property and could have fallen on any one of four houses. Chris the owner came out to inspect them and assured us he could remove them without any damage to any of the properties. We set up a date and they arrived on time and started the removal which took two days. It was completed even earlier then we expected and there were no mishaps. Chris and his crew removed everything and cleaned up all the debris and anything that fell in the adjoining yard. We were extremely happy with the job and time it took to complete. We were worried about having them removed because of the size and location but could not have been happier at the finished work. We would definitely use AK Trees again and recommend them to our neighbors and friends.

They cut down a large laurel oak tree in my back yard. The job was done very well and at a much better price than the quotes I got from two other services. They cleaned up neatly. I would use them again for any future needs.

They were on time and very professional. I was very pleased with their work and I would recommend them to anyone. Also their prices were very reasonable.

Chris and his team of professionals arrived exactly on time. While the crew unloaded tools, Chris and I did a walk-around to verify work to be done. Work then commenced, with the clean-up being done simultaneously with the cutting. The weather interfered with the program, leading to a planned one-day job taking two days plus a couple of hours on a third day. The job included some very difficult large limb-removals over a pool enclosure and the house, while working in a very confined space between a fence and the pool enclosure. Before doing any work, sprinkler heads in that area were coned off to ensure that nobody stepped on them or dropped a log on them. Over the course of five hours spent on that part, one small mistake would have caused hundreds of dollars (at least) in damage. Chris's attention to every detail of the big-picture's three aspects: safety, damage-avoidance, and a professional result that he is proud to "have his name on" were evident every minute that he and crew were here. Damage avoidance included the trees themselves -- as a professional arborist Chris took great pains to ensure that he "did no harm" to the trees. Along the way, they did a number of things that were not part of the original agreement, just because it would help the landscape to look better -- always getting my approval before taking any action. Clean-up was done every day, regardless of the rain falling at the time; at the end of the job, the only indication that they had been here was a tremendously improved property. I definitely got more than my money's worth, and will certainly use them again.

The guys came out on time and Chris by being an arborist, was very knowledgeable. The guys did such a great job that our neighbor decided to have her tree trimmed by them also. We will use AK Tree again if tree service is needed.
