Snyder Plumbing

There were three men on the job. Each of them was very skilled at what they were doing. We were told by other plumbers that it was a two day job. Snyder did it in one day. We were very pleased and would hire them again. The final price was less than his original bid.

Snyder Plumbing did send a plumber the day I called, approximately four hours afterwards. The telephone was answered quickly by a pleasant woman, who stated I would receive a call when the plumber was on his way, which I did. When the plumber arrived I had already cut the ceiling drywall away so he could see where the leak was coming from. He quickly determined the cause to be a bad fitting which would need to be replaced. The plumber stated he would need to cut away a bit of the sub-floor and more of the ceiling drywall in order to fit his tool in the space. He stated their was no other way to repair the leak. He said his helper had to leave and asked if I would not mind turning the shower on/off, I said I would, however, when I asked if he needed me he said he would let me know if he did, he never asked me though. He said he was going to have to leave as he did not have the part he needed on his truck. He was gone 35 minutes. During the repair he broke the lamp in his light as it slipped and as stated his helper was not there to hold or shine the light, he had to go get another lamp so work was stopped. After he had repaired the leak I was presented with a bill for over 280.00, which included a charge for 2.5 labor at a rate of 98.00 per hour. As I did not understand how the labor hours had been reached I told the plumber I would call the company office to pay the bill with my credit card. I was concerned as he had arrived around 3:00 pm and finished around 5:00 pm. When I called the office, a lady answered quickly and sounded the same as the woman I had originally spoke with. I asked her what the company's standard hourly rate was and she confirmed 98.00 per hour. I asked her if I was charged 98.00 for drive time and she said yes, 98.00 per hour for the plumber to drive to my home (approximately 15 min. away.). I explained that the plumber had to leave to go get a part (shower drain fitting) and was gone over a half hour and that his helper was not there so of course the job took longer. The woman said she could adjust the bill for 30 minutes of labor but that was all. I told her fair enough since that was all she was going to do. The plumber did leave pieces of the broken lamp, the drywall and subfloor which he had cut away on the floor. I had covered the floor with a drop cloth and put plastic down myself when I had originally cut the ceiling drywall so there was already drywall pices on the drop cloth. I suppose at 98.00 per hour I would rather clean the glass, and other debris he cut up myself anyway. The leak was fixed and I did appreciate getting some adjustment for labor time.
