What we liked...1. Prices for all items were fair and below other quotes. We chose Fiveash Renovations based on the glowing reviews on Angies list and their fair price quotes. 2. Derrick was punctual, polite and acted professionally throughout the entire project, which took about two weeks. 3. The stucco band repair, interior paint job and gutters look good. 4. Derrick, was polite in answering all of my questions, which I value and appreciate. What we did not like...1. While Derrick himself was very professional, the men he hired to complete our very large project did not act very professionally. They smoked cigarettes near open doors and windows to our house and they disposed of the buds in a trash can located inside our garage. The workers parked in front of mailboxes after being asked not to block them. One worker used my neighbors water spigot and water supply without permission, which angered my neighbor. 2. The workers were not detail oriented when it came to cleaning up after their job was completed. There was paint splatter on toilets, sinks and other fixtures (luckily, with some work I was able to remove most of it). They did take care to cover fixtures, and I understand splatter happens, but it should be cleaned up by the professional. Construction dust was apparent on some of the newly painted walls and non painted cabinets. I asked them to leave any extra paint for me to use for touchups later, which they did, but they left two open paint cans in my garage, as well as some empty cans of paint. 3. They seemed more concerned with getting the job done quickly rather than getting the job done to the owners satisfaction. Contractors I have used in the past walked through the end product with me to make sure I was satisfied, which did not happen here. Part of the reason for this, I feel is they underestimated the length of time this job would take. 4. Tops of doors were not painted. I guess they thought since they weren't normally seen that they did not need to be painted. 5. They splattered white stucco on our exterior, decorative, red lava rock that covers our plant beds. They did not even attempt to cover the decorative rock before repairing the stucco on our house. The white has not washed off the rocks, and now we have to remove and replace a large portion of our decorative rock because it looks horrible! I understand if they feel it is not their job to move the decorative rocks to a safe location or cover them, but they should have given me the option to do so in that case. Leaving a hideous mess for me to deal with is very unprofessional. 6. Lastly, the main reason why I am dissatisfied and why I would not hire this company again is that I do not trust this contractor to be honest on his limitations. One plumbing item from our home inspection was not up to code and we asked them to fix it and make it up to code. Now, I do not know what the codes are here, which is why I hired a professional for this job. So, you can imagine my surprise when the contractor "fixed" this item then asked me if that was what I wanted done. Uh...how am I suppose to know if something is up to code or not? That is your job! So, I called my home inspector back out and asked him if it was now up to code...which it was not. The contractor actually made it worse. So, now we will have to hire a plumber to come out and make this repair truly up to code. If Fiveash Renovations did not know what the plumbing codes are, he needed to be honest with me about that rather than just winging it so he could get more money. For this reason alone, I would not rehire this company.

The best thing I can say about Fiveash Renovations is that they care about their reputation. Every aspect of their work reflects this from the first contact to clean up after work completion. The entire team was very knowledgeable and worked well together. In addition to replacing the roof, we described porch covers that we wanted added. The finished product was exactly as we envisioned. The work quality was excellent. The price was in line with what we expected to pay for the job. While we were working we found some termite damage that we felt we needed professional help to repair. A crew was sent out a few days later to complete that job for us. We do plan to use Fiveash Renovations again for other projects on the same home.

Derrick and his guys did a customized tile back splash with a mosaic over the cook top in my kitchen. We were very, very satisfied with the quality and price of the work. Derrick supplied us with an estimate immediately after he visited our home to view what we wanted done and it was extremely reasonable. He and his team showed up promptly to start the work at the assigned time and they stayed until the job was completely finished. They also did a great job of cleaning up after themselves. We would definitely use them again. In fact, we asked for an estimate for various other projects we needed done at our house and look forward to working with them again.

I didn't need Full FiveAsh roof repair/install, so Derrick Fiveash sent over a carpenter/fixup man Frank Eddinger to do the work. He repaired the soffit hole, and re-inforced it with wood backing to prevent further raccoon invasion. Frank did a heckava job - very clear he's a great carpenter/renovator - def. knows what he's doing. Will definitely use him again in the future, hopefully on some project not related to raccoons.

Great very responsible crew, kept me informed of what they were doing

Over the 15 months we have lived in our current house, we have had several occasions of water damage to the ceiling and walls -- each resulting in a roof repair relating to that particular leak. Recently when one of our skylights began to leak profusely, we realized we needed a roofing expert who would not only fix the leak at hand, but also do preventive maintenance on the entire roof. Our experience with Fiveash Renovations from the first telephone call to the day the work was performed couldn't have been better. The completed work went beyond being satisfactory, on time, and on budget. They were extremely thorough and conscientious in both identifying and addressing several problem areas that were undetected during repairs done previously - all of which were existing or potential causes for water damage to the walls and ceiling. I was particularly impressed by how the three-person crew stayed busy and worked so efficiently - each working on a different aspect of the projects so that their efforts dove-tailed together - resulting in quicker completion.

Theyshowed up on time and did a great job. They even worked late to complete the project for me. They were very polite and knowledgeable.

We made an appointment with him for between 5pm and 5:30 during the week. At 5:35 on the night of the appointment he called to say he could not make it because the job he was on was going to run very late. We rescheduled for the same time on Friday of that week. I requested that he come as early as possible as I was going to start some work at my house that evening. My first observation is that I find unlikely that he would not have realized much earlier in the day on the first day that he would not make the appointment. It is also unlikely that he had allowed or considered travel time in his planning. For the second appointment he was a no show-no call. We have not heard anything from him since and will not contact or consider using him.

Think I did this in the above statement. From start to finish, I was very impressed as in our area, contractors tend to charge more than they estimate, don't show up when they say they will, and sometimes the expertise is sub-level. This is NOT THE CASE with Fiveash. I would hire these guys again without a second thought. Quality work, very fair pricing, clean work areas, jobs accomplished as they said they would be, resulting work was accomplish with expertise - these guys know what they are doing. Do hire them. Don't hire someone else!

Derrick's price was fair and his workmanship exceptional. His crew were professional throughout and met the time commitment promised us. I would not hesitate to use him again.

Derrick was very prompt for the estimate and was very professional. He took measurements, made a list of what we wanted done and was very quick and precise. Within a few days, Derrick called us with the estimate. Considering what we needed done, the estimate seemed more than reasonable and he agreed to start work the next Monday. Derrick has a team of 4 or 5 men who are experienced at what they do and he leads and oversees all work done. This team has an awesome work ethic, they show up when they say they are going to, once work has started, they worked everyday even through the weekend to get us back into our home as soon as possible. It was a pleasure to work with this team and we will call on them again when we decide to remodel.

They came out and did the estimate, spent 7 full days doing the work, were to come back for additional job and to correct all the mistakes they left on first job, came back and started second job, never cleaned up mistakes from first job and never finished second job, got paid to do the work though

Contacted Fiveash Renovations from Craigslist for a quote on a privacy fence for my backyard. I was trying to get several quotes to get the best price for the best quality. Mr. Fiveash was my 4th quote. He quoted me $5,000 for our fence. I contacted him back, flabbergasted, as he was more than double any other quote that we got. Our lowest quote was $1,990 and our highest was $2,159. He responded, "Let me check my numbers. Maybe they aren't right." I waited, and then he contacted me again and said, "I don't know who you got your numbers from, but my materials are almost that much." So I let him know that my highest quote was Lowe's, with the backing of Lowe's, for that price. When I gave him an actual name, he then said, "Oh I did get my prices mixed up. It's actually closer to $2,415." At this point, I didn't respond, and about 10 minutes later, I got another email that said he could probably do it for around $2,100. Honestly, he scared me. He was so exhorbitantly outside what everyone else was charging me that I felt like it was a deliberate padding. Only when I gave him the name of a reputable company that gave me a smaller quote, did he actually budge off that $5,000. By the time he budged, he'd scared me too much to go with him. I'm sure he's a nice enough guy, and I'm sure he does good work, but I felt like he was way overcharging me, so I chose another company, who has been in business for longer than I've been born, for 1/3rd of the price.

Derrick and his crew did a fantastic job. First, Derrick was so very professional. He arrived on time, stuck to the budget and left my home so clean each day and also at the end of the project. We had special needs as my husband has health issues. Derrick designed the new shower lay-out and the end result was beyond our expectations. This was a complete bathroom make over. Tile, fixtures, paint and new vanity. Thank you Derrick, looking forward to our next project, hardwoods throughout the great room and dining room. Nice to know that there are still honest, caring, dependable people in this world.

Over the years we've used a number of contractors for various jobs on properties we own. We've been disappointed more than happy with work done. Fiveash Renovations kept us informed on their time line and when they would be able to start. They spent four days working on the roof of our house with attention to every detail, did a quality job and left us with no mess. We plan on using them in the future for further work on our house and possibly on other properties if the need arises.

I contacted Fiveash Construction to move the washer and dryer from my laundry room to my garage. Mr. Fiveash arrived on time and seemed pleasant. When he looked over the situation and I explained that I wanted a new 220 electrical line and new plumbing, he balked. He wanted to do a 'cheaper and easier' method by running lines from the original hook-up in the laundry room to the garage. I told him again what I wanted and he said he would submit a bid. I never received a bid, a phone call or an email. While he didn't do any work for me, I wouldn't trust him to do the job the way I wanted it done.

Fiveash did an excellent job from the initial quote to the completion of the work. They were flexible in scheduling and even added a few non scheduled tasks on the day of the job at no additional cost. We will continue to use Fiveash for future home repairs and improvements.

The service was great. They had very good communication and the gutters work great. The job they did was fantastic.

Try to get owner to be involved from get go. Have to stay on top of them.

This was a small job. I have found it difficult to find contractors willing to take small jobs. From the time I contacted Fiveash until the job was finished was just a few days. I was satisfied with the response time and performance.

We originally hired Fiveash Renovations to complete the interior of our home. We were so very pleased with their work that we quickly began adding additional projects to the original job. The jobs were completed timely and within the agreed price. The quality of their workmanship is outstanding. I can't say enough about Derrick and his crew- they were always on time, courteous and professional. A really great and talented group of guys! I will continue to use Fiveash Renovations for any future project at this home and our primary residence. Our house looks great!

We meet and I showed them what I needed done. They sent me an estimate via email and we signed an agreement and they took care of my project.

They did a great job and took plenty of photos and provided a cd when they were finished of all the work.

We meet for the estimate and Mr. Fiveash was very polite and answered all my questions. We came to an agreement and they started the work. I was informed on progress and they finished and are now doing tile for me.
