Steve was great. Arrived within 15 minutes of calling him. My AC evaporator coils were freezing up intermittently and after telling him what I had done to try and remedy the problem up to that point, he quickly determined that my system was 2 lbs low on refrigerant. System is back to normal cooling. Very professional. I would definitely use him again for any future problems and routine maintenance.

Mr. Folkert came to my home, inspected my previous system and gave me a signed quote with a 30-day guarantee regarding the price he quoted for new air conditioning/heat pump unit. We also discussed having my unit repaired (which would have been adding more Freon). He spent time explaining things to me and answered all of my questions. I had done research on my own and had spoken to friends/neighbors about replacing/repairing my system, prices, contractors, etc. When I had decided that I would replace the system, I called Mr. Folkert and he immediately made an appointment to do the work. On the appointed morning, he and his crew arrived and in short order replaced the entire system. The whole process was smooth, clean, efficient, trouble free and timely. I am very impressed. Mr. Folkert also had already sent in the warranty information to the manufacturer and gave to me all pertinent booklets, information, invoice and again, gave me a full explanation regarding any questions I had. The unit has been running smoothly, quietly and efficiently since then. When he and the crew left you would not know that I had just had a system replaced which included the outside machine and the inside part of the unit. My place was pristine.

Response from Folkerts Heating & Air LLC
It's unfortunate we got this poor review we didn't deserve so I'll explain. First of all this system was installed by the homeowner which in the state of Georgia is illegal to do without a conditioned air license. He purchased this system over the internet versus through a local contractor which as stated by the manufacturer makes the warranty null and void. Local HVAC distributors will not process warranty claims for any equipment purchased over the internet. The system was not installed according to local mechanical and electrical codes. The system was oversized for the home and no heat load calculation was performed. The electrical wiring going from the disconnect to the air handler was undersized based on the electric heat package he installed which created a fire hazard due to overloading. The condensate drain was installed improperly which didn't allow the system to drain the way it should. We performed a total of three service calls on this property with the first being a frozen evaporator coil which we discovered was caused by a filthy return air filter. The second was for no cooling and a frozen evaporator which was caused by low refrigerant due to a leaking evaporator coil. We explained to the homeowner that although we could service the system with refrigerant it would only continue to leak and it would freeze again. He said "go ahead and service it up" which we did. The third service call was for the same thing only a couple of weeks later and he then requested that we replace the evaporator coil. We explained that the evaporator would not be covered under warranty and that if we provide the new evaporator versus him trying to get it on his own that he would have to pay for the new evaporator, materials and labor to replace the evaporator coil. He said go ahead and do it and he never once asked how much it was going to cost. We got the new evaporator through our local distributor and installed it for him. As the owner of this company I am shocked that someone could be so bold as to say we charged "double what it should have cost" given the fact they have no idea what the industry norms are when it comes to cost. The evaporator coil alone was more than half of the total bill....! They tried to beat the system by purchasing the system online and installed it themselves and are now mad because they had to pay to have it repaired by a professional. And now after trying to do them a favor we are suddenly the bad guy. We should have never even touched the system based simply on the fact the homeowner installed it. I applaud the homeowner for his effort but it was obvious just from looking at it he didn't know what he was doing. We have always had a standing company policy that "if we don't sell it we don't install it". Effective immediately, we have another company policy: "If a homeowner purchases a system over the internet and installs it themselves or has someone else install it don't call us for any kind of service EVER"!!!!! I completely understand homeowners wanting to save as much money as possible but when it comes to installing and servicing heating and air conditioning systems it needs to be left up to professionals.

I called Folkerts Heating & Air LLC and asked for a service call on my AC unit. I had called previous companies and allthey idd was come out and add freone. A month later the unit would be low on freone again. Folkerts Heating & Air LLC came out and did a complete check on the unit and discovered that there was a leak and that the cores were leaking. He informed me of my options and explained the probable effects of each one. I decided to go with a new unit rather than repairing the cores because the unit was very old. He scheduled me for an appointment and he was very prompt and the service was very thorough. After the completion of the job, he followed up with a check on how the unit was performing. Before the new unit I was paying around 300.00 a month, after the installation my cost has been on an average 160.00. I have enjoyed the unit very much. I am scheduled for a yearly inspection by Folkerts Heating & Air LLC.
Description of Work: I had an A/C unit replaced. The service was awesome and very professionally done. He presented the various options I had without any pressure regarding any particular one. He was completely honest about everything.

The entire experience with Folkert AC was very positive. He responded quickly, gave a good estimate, completed the work, and provided a comprehensive estimate for a new unit when II decided it was necessary. He did not use the high pressure tactics of the other company who were more interested in selling a new unit then repairing the existing one.
Description of Work: AC unit was not providing sufficient cooling air to the house. The first AC company I called came out and insisted I needed a whole new unit and could not do anything else. i called Folkert who responded quickly, cleaned the existing unit up and restored cooling to the house. There were no further problems the rest of the summer. When I do need to replace the unit, I will use Folkert!

Friday evening I realized my A/C was not cooling my house. My first thought was, of course, this NEVER happens during the week, but always on weekends or at night! My next thought was first thing Saturday morning I'm calling someone. After roasting through the night I awoke early Saturday a.m. and began searching Angie's List. After reading many reviews of many companies I decided to call Folkerts. Great decision! I called and left a voicemail. Steve called me back within I believe 10-20 minutes. He was at my house in less time than he had told me it would be. In less than 1-1.5 hours Steve had determined what the problem was and had my air cooling again. This was actually on my son's birthday and we had 6 boys due over that afternoon for a birthday party/sleepover. Had it not been for Steve fixing our air and in such an expeditious and cost-effective manner, the birthday party would have turned into an all night campout in my backyard (which would have been cooler than house!). Thanks so much to Steve for saving the birthday party as well as our checkbook! We would absolutely recommend and call him again!

The night before our A/C unit started making a horrible sound. We shut it down and called Folkert's first thing in the morning. Mr Folkert arrived within an hour and a half of our call, diagnosed the problem very quickly, had the part on his truck and was able to get us up and running within 45 minutes. His professionalism was beyond reproach and his work was excellent. He was very knowledgable about our system giving future advice and did not try and over sell anything. I was extremely impressed by the entire situtation and will be using him again in the future if so needed.

My overall rating is Excellent for this company--very friendly, very professional, and very knowledgeable.
Description of Work: Technician surveyed work to be completed our my air conditioning system and swiftly determine that the problem was the air handler located in the house attic. This unit required full removal/replacement, and the cooling system required testing, adjustment and charging after installation. Although the cost caught me off guard as I had no idea a handler would be so pricey; the work completed was done in a very professional manner.

I got him off of Angie’s List. The gentleman that came out was amazing. It's a little one man shop. He came out on a weekend and told me what the charges were for coming on a weekend. I was pleasantly surprised as he knew what exactly was wrong with it. He told me what was going on. I’d actually had somebody else that charged me more and didn’t fix my air conditioner. He came out and had it fixed literally within an hour. My air conditioner was up in running within an hour. He was wonderful. I was expecting the price to be more, but he charged me around $150 whereas another guy charged me $300 and didn’t fix it. The only thing that took him any time was when he had to go get the part and come back. I was pleasantly surprised with his work. I would give him an A+ on everything. I would tell people to call him if they are within his radius. I would use him again in the future if need be.

We weren't in town and had to rely on him to tell us what was wrong, the circumstances surrounding the malfunctioning compressor and to fix it properly. He did all of that as well as took the time to educate us as to the possible reason why our compressor went out. We've never met Steve and yet he gave us the option of billing us and mailing in our payment after his services were rendered. However, we chose to pay with our Visa over the phone. It was the easiest repair we've ever had to deal with. I would definitely recommend Steve to friends and family. Thanks Steve!

Outstanding! Our a/c quite last night and it was unbearably hot inside. I called Steve on Saturday morning. He responded within the hour and diagnosed/repaired the problem in no more than 5 minutes. The only reason I put a "B" on price is that I looked up the cost of the starting capacitor (which was the problem) on line after he left and I found them for anywhere from $25-$35. This means the labor charge must have been a whole hour even though it took him just five minutes. Either way, I was very pleased with his service. In addition, he gave me some fittings (at no charge) and a trap to resolve a clogged air handler drain pipe. I really appreciated that.

Response from Folkerts Heating & Air LLC
The Member is a good customer and I was happy to help him whether it was a Saturday or a weekday. With regards to the price though I actually gave him a break but he didn't know it. The $135 price was a weekday flat rate price even though it was a service call on a Saturday morning. The price for a weekend service call to replace a capacitor would have normally been $45 for the service call, $35 for the capacitor and then a minimum of $82 for labor which is a minumum one hour charge which would bring the total to $162.00.

Description of Work: Heater was heating the house in the evening. Called Folkerts and left message, Called me back 20 minutes later. he was at my house in less then 45 minutes from my first call. he looked at the system made some minor adjustments to the unit and checked all the coolent levels. Told me the adjustments should work but if they did not he would then order a part. Everything worked great and I know some of the good ole boys here in Houston county would have tried to get me to replace my whole system. Thank you for your honesty and prompt service

In May of this year our AC wouldn't work as we tried to turn it on for the first time. We called one guy who came and told us we would have to replace the whole system for $6,000-7,000 dollars because he couldn't find where some leak was originating. We decided to go with a second opinion. We found Steve Fokerts through the Better Business Bureau. He came and quickly assessed the real problem, ordered the part, and had us up and running in no time. It was a mere $250 that was so worth it. Especially after we had already paid another guy $400 to do practically nothing. We were so grateful for Steve's honesty and straightforward manner. Now in November we went to turn on our heat and (just our luck) it wouldn't work. So we called Steve. He came the same day about 2 hours after our phone call to see what the problem was. He quickly determined it was the expansion valve gone bad. He outlined exactly what it would cost me to have it fixed, telling me the whole while how bad he felt for us, since this was indeed a more tedious and expensive part to have replaced. He came back in a couple of days when the part came in. He was working so hard. I sensed he was starting to get frustrated after 2 hours of work...Something apparently wasn't still working. 30 minutes later he had figured out the problem and he came in and said to me that the work he was doing wasn't going to cost me a dime. What?! He explained thoroughly that the part he had originally replaced in May, even though he had ordered the right kind, the parts distributor had sent him the wrong one out of the two choices. They both look identical, so when he went to put it in he didn't see a difference. He told me that was the reason the expansion valve went bad, due to the wrong type of evaporator coil. So it was the distributor's unintentional fault...They shipped him the correct one and Steve came back on his holiday (Veteren's day...He is retired Air Force) and spent more hard hours working to fix the problem, for FREE. I felt so bad for him, I tried to get him to let me pay for the work on the expansion valve, but he wouldn't let me. He was so polite, thorough, honest, and hard working. He never made me feel like a woman that didn't know anything...He thoroughly explained, helping me understand the situation and mechanics of it all. He could have easily mislead me if he wanted to and made me pay double for both problems, but he was once again straight forward and honest about the whole situation. I made him cinnamon rolls to thank him because I was so grateful. We will always use Steve for our H & AC needs, and I'm sure you will be just as pleased with him! Give him a call!
Description of Work: Back in May he came and replaced the evaporator coils when our AC wasn't working, and recently replaced the expansion valve.

It went great! I called because the Air Conditioner wasn't working. He answered, and then penciled me in for just 2 hours later. Showed up and my dog loved him. My 1 year old was following him around and he didn't seem to mind at all. When he was done, he shook hands with the baby, petted the dog, and left.
