 + -1 moreI emailed the company and got a response a week later stating that this was a busy time for them and to contact them at the end of March. That was fine with me. I called Mr. Winter in late March and he agreed to come over to see what improvements we were interested in. He did not show up or call to explain. I called his cell phone and left a message. No return call. I called Mr. Carn's cell phone and left a message. No return call.

 + -1 moreWe traveled 40 miles round trip to be there. No phone call and NO SHOW! Never any further contact. Russell should have declined the interview or called to explain the circumstances if he wanted a positive review.
Description of Work: We made an appointment to meet Russell at the property to discuss the project. We hoped for an estimate to choose the right contractor to build our screened porch.

Description of Work: Over a period of several weeks, Winter & Carn provided multiple services. The routine was obtaining and installing a new dishwasher-the work required incluidng sanding to properly place the dishwasher-work that had not been done by the company that had put in the older unit. More to the point, they provided what was essentially emergiency services on a same day basis. The central air conditioner in this house drains into a sump pump in the basement and this quit during the summer. They responded the day they were notified and had the unit replaced that day. A second time, a leak was noticed in the lower floor of the house-again they responded that day and saw it was a leak from a pad under an upstairs toilet. Replaced within an hour or so of their diagnosis. A minor plumbing issue was also dealt with during the time the dishwasher was installed. I put September down above but these services were done over several weeks and the total bill was above. Given the emergent nature of a couple of the problems, the price they wanted was a bargain. I will continue to use them for all home projects, big and small.

 + 0 moreI made an appointment with him to do the estimate. They did not show up. I called and he has forgotten about it. But he came out and he said he would give me an estimate in a couple of days. And what he basically did, was not an in depth estimate, it was just kind of a rough "OK we will do it for that". And that took about a week and a half. So I decided not to go with them.
Description of Work: Winter & Carn Construction came out and gave me an estimate. It was for an insurance claim, so they said they would be able to do it for the price. The insurance has quoted me $12000. It was to repair the roof, ceilings - to repair the plaster and painting. Repairing a fence and the facia on the roof as well.

 + 0 moreMr. Winter communicated consistently with us as we waited for our chosen floors to come in. Once they did, the workers arrived right on time and they had the whole project done in no time. They completed all the work and some of the crew members did a few small remodeling things, which was not requested but needed to be done, while the other crew members finished up. The experience was fantastic and I will definitely be doing business with them again!
Description of Work: Had some vinyl flooring redone due to flooding along with repairs to a ceiling.

 + 0 moreRusty and George were professional, honest, and determined to give me what I wanted. On one occasion I made the comment that what I wanted was too difficult and was told ,"If you want it, we will do it." And, they did! I loved their 'can-do' attitudes and their eagerness to please. It was apparent that they take great personal pride in their work and that they expect their sub contractors to do the same. While one might find a cheaper contractor, I don't believe you could find one who would do a better job and be as easy to work with. These guys were at my house about 5 days a week for about 6 months and they were thoughtful, respectful, and concerned about everyone's safety. I'd give them and A+++!
Description of Work: We moved our kitchen from one room to another, gutting the new room and replacing windows and walls, floors, cabinets, and appliances. One exterior wall was extended, requiring masonry and exterior siding work.

 + 0 moreThe experience of working with them was beyond my expectations. I have known of their work for years but had never hired them for a project. I was both excited and nervous. But the completed project is more than I dreamed and I could not be happier. The designer also said their work was high quality and she liked how they could take her ideas to reality without architectural drawings. She has worked with many builders and said they were the best. I have to agree. I would hire them again...and probably will!!!
Description of Work: Remodeling of two guest bedrooms and a bathroom. Winter & Carn joined forces with our designer to completely renovate and remodel a jack and jill bed room and bath. They removed all the old trim work in both rooms, then added new trim in both rooms, to the designer's specifications. Both rooms required them to take an idea from conception to completion without any real drawings. I was a little concerned with how it would turn out as I had not seen a drawing, but the finished product was amazing. In one room, they took a plain white vaulted ceiling and added beams and bead board, drawing the attention to the ceiling in a beautiful way. In the other room, they added beach style trim to the walls and matched the rest of the trim around the doors, window and ceiling to the walls. They added new trim in the bathroom as well, taking it from boring and bland to stunning. My guest bedrooms are now a show piece and I have been told many times, they could be in a magazine! Rusty and George are very hands-on builders and their crew is great. They kept the work environment clean and tidy and left it in usable condition each night. They were accommodating in their schedule as I had guests coming for a big event and they squeezed me into their calendar to meet my needs and completed the project on time and on budget.
