We first became aware of Marc Reeves and Totally Outdoors Lawn care from one of our tenants who uses Mr Reeves to cut the grass at our rental house (2 acres of field grass). We were really impressed at the work he did and at the very reasonable cost (55.00 he charged). In fact I might say that it was a little to low, but none the less he did a really good job. So with that I had arranged for Mr. Reeves to come and give an estimate to clean up the backyard (remove pinestraw/pinecones, trim bushes in front and back yard) at my elderly mother's house. He eventually came to give us an estimate. On the day he came to give the estimate I saw him talking to my mother in the front yard. I stopped to by to meet and talk with him and find out what he would charge to do the work. He stated $120.00 to take care of the backyard and then I asked him what would he charge to trim the bushes in the front and he said an additional $40.00 Making the total $160.00 and I said that was a very good price and to go ahead and get it done. My Mom asked me to wait until the begining of August (payday) to have Mr. Reeves do the work. I ended up going on vacation from August 2-August 7,2009, but I did leave several messages for Mr. Reeves letting him know that we would like to have the work done. On August 2nd I got a phone call from Mrs. Arlene Reeves stating that they would get in touch with my mother and take care of the yard. On August 4th I get a phone call from my mother, she was very upset. She told me that Mrs. Reeves and her 14 yr old son showed up to perform the yard work, with the 14 yr old doing the majority of the work, while the mother more less instructed him on what to do, etc. Well, the back yard was far from being done correctly. They just took a blower and blew the pinestraw in the corner and there were several piles of pine straw in the middle of the yard and some blown into some holes were the dog had dug. VERY,VERY unprofessional and unacceptable work to say the least. My mother had paid Mrs. Arlene Reeves $40.00 the first day as Mrs. Reeves demanded some money to cover what they did that day and said they would return the next day to finish. They returned to trim the bushes in the front yard and when my mother inquired about finishing the back. Mrs. Reeves stated that they were done with the back. She demanded payment and well my mother being very trusting foolishly paid her to avoid problems. She paid 120.00 to Mrs Reeves and paid an additional 20.00 to the 14 yr old boy. Cash of course! Foolish I know! Had I been home this wouldn't have happened!! As I take care of my mothers affairs due to her health problems, etc. On August 5 I had instructed my daughter to go by mothers and take photos of the back and front yard for me, so I could see what was done. The front yard was done pretty decent for a 14 yr old, but the backyard still looked as bad as it did when last saw it. So when I got home from vacation. I attempted to contact Mrs. Reeves to find out what was going on. Let me say that this woman has one of the nastiest attitudes and is very, very unprofessional. After repeated phone calls and messages left, Mr Reeves was no where to be found. We were under the impression that Mr Reeves would be doing the work, as this is who we were hiring. Not his wife and 14 yr old son! But none the less I got absoultely no where with Mrs. Reeves. She repeatedly screamed in the phone at me and even hung up as I was trying to resolve the issue. She stated that Mr Reeves gave my mother a written bid. (lie # 1) she said she gave my mother a receipt (lie #2) There was never anything put in writing nor a receipt given. Mrs. Reeves stated my mother only paid her $140.00 and still owed her $40.00. I can no longer contact them as it seems she has blocked all my phone numbers from their home phone and cell phones. Point is DO NOT USE Mr and Mrs Reeves services. They are liars and very unprofessional and Mrs. Reeves is very immature as well!

Response from Totally Outdoors Lawn Care
This letter is in response to your inquiry into the work provided by our company, Totally Outdoors Lawn Care, to a former customer that used our services on Mon. August 3rd and Tues. 4th of 2009. I have attached our bid as well as the receipt that we gave to her. I am sending this to her yet again using a return signature receipt from the USPS so that I have signed proof that she receives this correspondence along with the bid, receipt, and photos. In the beginning of July of 2009, my husband Marc Reeves responded to a call from her requesting that he come by her residence to give her a bid to mow, weed wack, edge, and blow the front and backyard as well as trim the hedges on her property. The quote Marc gave her was $60 to mow, weed wack, edge and blow the front yard and $60 to mow, weed wack, edge, and blow the backyard. In addition to the charge of $120 for the front and backyard, he quoted her a price of $80 to trim the hedges that surrounded the house and were 10 feet tall and extremely out of control. This price included the landfill charge to haul off the limbs. As you heard on the recording from her neighbors, nothing has been done to the yard since she moved in five years ago. So the price that Marc gave her was very low. Toward the middle of July, Marc accepted work from a contractor in South Georgia. When she called and said she want her yard work done, I explained that Marc could not do it because he was working on a contract in South Georgia. I told her that my son and I have been helping Marc with the business and would she allow me and my son to do the job at the same rate? She replied that she had no problem with this arrangement. I then called her daughter Laura and explained to her what we were going to do and she said she was out-of-town on vacation but to go ahead and do the work. We did the work – it took us two days. On the first day, she approach my son and I and asked my son if he would be willing to cut down 3 rooftop tall trees and put them in the pile to be hauled off. I said that this work was not quoted in the bid and she said she would give him a tip of $20 to do so. He agreed to do the work and she was very pleased. At the end of the first day, she said all that she had to pay us was the $40 in cash and that she would go to the bank tomorrow to pay us the rest. Usually, we ask for half the money up front and the other half when we finish the job. The next day, we finished the job except for hauling off the trimmings. She said she was extremely pleased with our work and paid us $100 + the $20 tip to Seth. Since it was so late (almost dark), we stated that we would be back in the morning to remove the yard waste. That morning she then asked us to haul off a lot of trash that had accumulated around the outside of the house in addition to the yard waste. Work not quoted in the initial bid – we did so. As we were about to leave, I approached her and asked her to pay us the other $60 that she owed us. She then asked if we would haul off the pine straw and pine cones still in her backyard. I explained to her that was not in the bid and that the charge to do so would have to be a separate agreed to quote. So I gave her a quote to haul off 4 loads of waste (truck + 16 ft. trailer) an est. as the amount of accumulation of pine straw was five years worth would be $60 dollars (4 trips to the landfill at $15 ea.) + the labor to move it from the backyard to the road where the truck and trailer were located, load and unload at the landfill would be a minimum of 1 and half days worth of work for two people plus gas. I gave her a break on the price due to her insistence that she would give us more work. She told us that she had another rental property that we could also work on. I said that we could do what she wanted for $160. She then asked what I would charge her to not haul it to the landfill so that I wouldn’t have to pay the landfill charge but take it out to her rental property that she owned and burn it. The other rental property is the property that we were cutting at the request of the renter. The renter of this property is the person that referred us to her. This rental property is all the way out in Grovetown (12 miles away – the landfill was a 6 mile drive). I said that this was twice as far and it would have to be the same amount because I still had to load and unload and now I had to pay more in gas. I said did she really want me to burn a mountain of pine straw behind the rental house with the occupants having a baby living in the residence? “Oh, it is my property and I will do what I want with it.” I said that my price would still be the same. She then started yelling at me telling me that she was quoted a price and we should do it because we told her that we would and she wasn’t going to pay us anymore to do it and that she would call her daughter to get her to get us to finish this job. I said that I was well aware of our bid on this job and that what she wanted us to do was not in the bid. As we were discussing this, a lady and man pulled up in her driveway and she introduced her to me as her granddaughter. She said “Grandmother is everything ok?” I said no that it was not ok. I told her what was said - that I could do what her grandmother wanted however at this price and if she wasn’t agreeable to that, she was more than welcome to get someone else to do it. Her granddaughter said that she thought it would be best to get someone else. I then said that she still owed us $60 dollars. She agreed to “mail us a check”. On August the 5th, her daughter the Angie’s List member called me and I discussed the same as above and she immediately became hostile that if I did not come back and do what her mother wanted on our dime that she was going to ruin our company and our lives. I said that I was not in the habit of being talked to like this nor was I going to work for free. When she agreed to pay upfront the remaining amount for the job already completed and to pay 1/2 upfront the removal of the pine straw and cones and the other ½ when we completed the work and agree to sign the contract for us to do the work, I would be happy to comply, otherwise, do not call us again. She continued to harass myself and my husband on the phone. And continued to make threats (I have saved the threats on our digital answering machine). Of course I blocked her phone from all of our numbers after she harassed us 10 times in 10 minutes. In twenty-five years of lawn care, we have never had a problem with any of our clients. We do not have a haggle system like they do in Turkey – Americans have a pay as you work system. We couldn’t have worked any harder on her yard and her neighbors confirmed it. Your neighbors are so happy to have the "ugliest yard" in the neighborhood cleaned up. As you can hear from your neighbors on the recording, our work was rated using a scale of 1-10 (10 being perfect) All of your neighbors rated our service a 10. They also said that for the amount of money that your mother paid us versus the amount of work that we did – she definitely received her monies worth. They also agreed to use our services in the future. In the end, your mother’s house gave us a lot of business! I was never rude until you were rude to me and threatened us and our business. Like I did so many times after your initial call where I refused to be bullied into working for your for free, I should have just hung up on you one more time instead I tried to explain to you yet one more time all of the above but you refused to listen. Her neighbors have asked that we not use their names nor their addresses in this statement. Their names are in the recording that I have sent to you. Her daughter lives a couple of houses down from her mother. Sincerely, Marc and Arlene Reeves
