Kevin has done work for us before; so, we knew we wanted him to do the work in this new house. This job was as beautiful as the previous one he did for us. The two bathrooms and laundry were not big jobs, but involved a lot of running up and down the stairs to cut tile outside. Still, he had the job done quickly. I had JUST enough tile for in front of the fireplace and with his skill, he saved me from having to make another trip to the store. The end result is that the job looks like it was done by a pro, not the homeowners. We are very happy customers.

It is a pleasure to give Kevin a positive recommendation. He was prompt professional and did a quality job. He laid the hardwood floor in 2 bedrooms in less this a day and a half. The house was left clean and he communicated very well when decisions had to be made regarding the installation. He is a good, safe choice if you need work done,

Bought the new flooring from Lumber Liquidators and these were the guys they sent to install it. They called first to set up a time that was convenient for us. They arrived on time, were very courteous and hard workers. They did a great job but after it was done I noticed a board that was cracked. Their customer service called me to insure I was happy with their work and I informed them of the one cracked board. They came soon after the call and replaced the board with no additional expense. They did a fantastic job! Their customer service called after the replacement board was put in to make sure everything was perfect. Would highly recommend them for future floor installments. Great customer service!

Kevin Alley and his assistant Devon did an excellent job from start to finish. Kevin came to our home with his wife to review the project and gave us a very competitive estimate based on other estimates we had gotten. He was able to start work 2 weeks after his gave us the estimate. During the initial part of the project, which involved removing carpet and vinyl flooring, he discovered the subfloor had been damaged in several areas where water had leaked. This caused the particle board subfloor to deteriorate and cause mold in some areas. We agreed that the entire subfloor needed to be replaced with 1/2 inch plywood. We negotiated a fair labor price for this additional, unanticipated work and they did an excellent job removing the old material and installing a solid subfloor. My wife has noticed that her allergies have suddenly improved since the moldy subfloor was gone. The work started on Tuesday, August 5, 2014. By Friday night most of the subfloor had been replaced. Kevin had the forethought to put the washer and dryer in the laundry room back in service for the weekend so my wife could catch up on laundry for our family of 6. Work resumed on Monday, August 11. By Tuesday he was installing the ceramic tile. My wife had originally wanted a staggered pattern (Kevin called it a brick pattern) but he suggested to her a grid pattern with several areas filled in with a diagonal pattern would look better. The dining room and kitchen used this diagonal pattern within a large rectangle within the grid pattern. It looks stunning. The complex geometry and cutting of the pieces to do this fill in pattern was a work of art on Kevin's part and he charged us no extra to do this beautiful pattern. Throughout the job Kevin encouraged us to ask questions and he provided excellent answers. He and his partner were professional, courteous, and sensitive throught the whole project, especially since my wife had to set up a make-shift kitchen in our den. The work included removing and replacing the baseboards, installing new shoe molding, removing and replacing a toilet, and moving and relocating two refrigerators. He was able to leave the stove in the kitchen and washer and dryer in the laundry room and simply worked around them, moving them as necessary. By Friday night, August 15th the work was done. Kevin and I settled up on the price. I paid for all the materials at cost and Kevin provided a fixed price on his labor. The installation of the subfloor took Kevin longer than expected and I offered to pay him several hundred dollars more above his fixed price which he graciously accepted but did not insist on getting. I woke up Saturday morning, August 16th and commented to my wife, and quot; What a beautiful floor we have now!and quot; I selected Profloorz to be our contractor after reading through the reviews on Angie's List at the recommendation of my son. I was not disappointed. I went to the Profloorz Web Site and saw the beautiful tile work Kevin had done for other customers. I would recommend Profloorz and Kevin Alley to anyone wishing to install a ceramic tile floor. I have told Kevin to feel free to use me as a reference for potential customers. I am a very satisfied customer! Ed Seufert
Description of Work: Profloorz installed approximately 750 square feet of ceramic tile on the first floor of our 2 story house including the foyer, dining room, kitchen, downstairs bath, and laundry room. This area included a coat closet, pantry closet, and laundry room closet.

Someone had recommended him. When I looked on Angie's List, I happened to find him. His recommendations were very high on there. He is just a very nice guy. His demeanor was very polite, very considerate. He actually changed, with his ideas he changed what I did with the shower. He gave me ideas for a pattern and it is entirely different than what I had bought. I had this bathroom planned for three years before, so I had bought everything. So, I ended up taking all my tile back and getting new tile and he created a pattern for my shower and the next that I asked him was to put in a loop for a shampoo and stuff, which he gladly did and he ended up doing it and finishing it a different way than he used done any other and he said, and quot;I've never done it that way beforeand quot;. It looks like a picture frame. and quot;I think I'm going to start doing them all that wayand quot;. The pattern that he ended up doing in the shower was it's to die for. It's like you go to a hotel, well it's not even a hotel, it's better than a hotel. It is just a small space but it's like why I shower now. And, then they ended up doing my flooring as well, put in a tile on my floor, but we ended up having a lot of trouble because the floor wasn't level and they ended up leveling the floor which created a trench hole where the commode fits. It was a problem and they had to buy a specific tool to grind it so that the commode could seat. And, to have a plumber come out to do it, I called a plumber to come out and give me an estimate and he wouldn't even come out because it would have been like, to him, he said, and quot;I won't even come out because it sounds like it might be out of job and it would even do me to come out to do itand quot;. And, I knew that his co-worker could do it because he said he'd done it before. So, we bought the tools. He did it and he only charged me 100 bucks. They did everything. And, they recommended somebody to do my walls, to refinished my walls so that it will all be smooth and everything and that guy worked out great. It was a friend of theirs. They're just very nice. They weren't just professional, they were personal. Oh yes, in fact, I have somebody that has worked me to get their number to recommend them more job to do. They were fantastic.
Description of Work: I used, I can't remember the name of the guy, and he had a business on there, for some tile work. I think it's Kevin the tile guy. We had a bathroom done early last year. The initial thing was just to take stuff out and then he did the other stuff.

Installer suggested specific tile from specific tile company during his estimate. We went to that tile provider and were very pleased with installer's recommendation. Installer and his assistant were very pleasant during the entire time they took to do this project (only 3 days). Worked performed in the estimated time frame proposed during estimate. Over all, I am very pleased with his work. I would recommend him to others considering new or renovation tile work.

Installer came to my house and changed the material my wife and I picked out for my kitchen. Did not consult with me but he decided he did not like the tile. Stepped way out of bounds as I was the one paying for his service which was to install tile only. Without regard to how I was going to get refunded for tile I had already purchased, he convinced my wife to buy a new batch of tile without my approval or consent. That's like hiring a painter to paint your house blue and he decides to paint it red. Very unprofessional. Sarcastic on the phone when I asked him what possessed him to change my order. Terrible businessman and I spent 10 years in the building business as a general contractor. I was pleased when he was so embarrassed he excused him from the job before I fired him. Beware of this guy. Tile he wanted to replace original with was easier to install but he offered no price break. He also bought twice as much grout than was necessary so he could keep the extra I suppose for other jobs.
Description of Work: Was suppose to install ceramic tile at kitchen counter backsplash. Convinced my wife to change the tile we picked out for easier tile installation. Did not ask my opinion or call me beforehand.

Response from Profloorz
Mr. (member name removed) was not home during the installation. His wife was there for the installation and was very concerned about the look of the backsplash when I started the installation. She was concerned that the 6x6 tiles they had chosen might be too busy for already busy pattern that was present in the newly installed granite countertop. To make matters worse, the samples they had were not a match for the unopened boxes of tile that were stored in the garage. This in not uncommon with ceramic tile because ceramic tile comes in different dye-lots just like carpet does. Like I said before, I had already started the job with every intention of performing the installation. I removed the light socket covers, prepped the wall for tile, removed the trim piece under the window-sill and set my saw up outside to cut the tiles with. Mrs. (member name removed) showed genuine concern about the install moving forward which made me nervous about installing something that a customer would not be happy with. So after observing her concern during the prep process of the installation, I offered to follow her to Lowes so she could choose another tile. I had no idea that Mr. (member name removed) was the person in charge on this job. And in my 20 years of installing flooring for countless homes in the CSRA, I have never observed a situation where I was to call the husband if a wife made a change to the installation. It would be a completely different situation if I were at a customer’s home doing an install and a neighbor was there to observe the install, and I went to Lowe’s to choose another tile because I did not like the one the homeowner chose. But in this case, his wife changed the tile. When the wife is standing there telling me she does not like the tile, I would have found it awkward to tell her that I needed to call her husband to get his approval before agreeing to accompany her to Lowe’s to help her select something she would like. We first tried to go to Kirkland’s flooring to talk with them about something different. But Kirkland’s Flooring does not open up until 10am on Saturday. So instead we both agreed to go to Lowe’s to see if there was something there that she liked. After spending an hour at Lowe’s with her, I helped her load the tile in her car, and we exchanged numbers. I had another install I promised another customer for Saturday afternoon, so I agreed that I would do the (member name removed) install on “Sunday” morning instead. Mrs. (member name removed) offered to give me some money for my time driving around to help her and I declined the extra fee. The whole time I spent driving around for Mrs. (member name removed) is a service I will provide any customer of mine to make sure they are happy with an install I have completed. I have other reviews from Angie’s list customers here on this website which will attest to my devotion to making a customer happy with no extra charges. After a few hours had passed, I received a phone call from “Mr. (member name removed)”. He asked if I had been at his house earlier that morning and I answered him with a, “yes sir.” Then he rudely caught me off guard and asked me, “What gives you the right to change the tile we had chosen?” I was in shock so it took me a few seconds to respond to Mr. (member name removed). So many questions went through my head in those few seconds. Had he not spoken with his wife? He must have if he knew she changed the tile… Maybe she did not make it clear that she was the one who changed the tile, maybe he was just messing with me… After a few seconds had passed I replied with, “Sir, I did not change the tile, your wife did.” He pretty much blew up at that and stated that he had a say of what went into his house. I was under the impression based on the way his wife acted, that she had a say in what went into the house as well. In my own personal life experiences outside of my job, I do not like to get mixed up into family feuds. I told him at that point that I did not want to argue with him and that I would feel better if he would find someone else to do the installation. On the notes Mr. (member name removed) left about my character… First off, the tile they originally chose was a 6x6 tile which they wanted installed straight up and down. The height of their cabinets from the top of the granite counter top was just under 12 inches which means there would have been one grout line through the middle of the wall. They wanted about 4 diagonal inserts installed at various places throughout the wall. The new tile she chose was a brick pattern about 2inches by 4 inches. I think any installer in flooring can attest that they would rather install 2 6x6 tiles straight up and down rather than a bunch of little tiles in a brick pattern. That is why there was no price break offered, and it was not an easier install by any means. More work that I did not intend on charging for. Second off… Mr. (member name removed) accuses me of selling him twice as much grout as he needed. But the truth is, the 2x4 tiles Mrs. (member name removed) chose means that there are more grout lines needed on the wall where he originally only had one line going through the middle of the backsplash. So his wife was advised that the 10lb box of grout they had originally purchased would not have been enough. So I advised Mrs. (member name removed) at Lowe’s that she may need 25lbs instead. The price difference was $3.87 between 10lbs and 25lbs of grout. I cannot and do not reuse grout for other jobs because my customers ALWAYS choose their own grout colors and tiles for every install (Unless they ask me to help them design it for them) And all of my customers PAY for their own materials and grout so there is no need for me to carry grout from one customer to another. With all of that being said, I provide each and every customer of mine advice from time to time when they ask for it. I am 100% honest about everything and very knowledgeable about my trade. Most of my customers know this about me and I think my reviews reflect that professionalism. I am not upset with Mr. (member name removed) about his negative review. When his wife sent me a text message later in the day apologizing for how rude her husband was, I simply stated that I was sure it was just a misunderstanding, even though there is no doubt that Mr. (member name removed) is going for blood with his review. I adamantly attest that I did nothing wrong in this installation. I went above and beyond in a professional manor and did a lot more then what was expected of me to make this customer happy. To Mr. (member name removed), I apologize that you thought I made decisions without consent. And had I been informed that your wife was not to make changes, I would have called you when those changes were discussed without your presence.

We recently purchased a home at a bargain price to fix up and rent out. Two-thirds of the house was carpeted in ugly, stained red carpeting. We decided to have the carpeting ripped out and replace with Quickstep laminate flooring. We didn't have experience with anyone doing this type of installation, so we joined Angie's list. We contacted ProFloorz after reading the glowing reviews. Everything worked out perfectly. The Pros: * Our initial call was returned quickly and an estimate set up the next day. * The estimate was 40% lower than another estimate we got. * Kevin Alley of ProFloorz gave us a list of exactly the materials we needed and the quantities of each. (We preferred to purchase the laminate ourselves.) He was spot on. * The job itself took three days. Kevin was on-time every day. He finished the job exactly when he said he would. * The work he did was virtually flawless. There's a lot to know about installing laminate and Kevin seems to know it all. We were thrilled with the way things turned out. * When the job was finished he cleaned up and hauled all the trash away. * This job was one of the best experiences I have ever had with a contractor. The Cons: * Well, there aren't any. I regret that I had only one job for Kevin. I'd use him again in a heartbeat. The Final Verdict: I can wholeheartedly recommend ProFloorz and Kevin without any reservation. He's a really nice guy to boot.

Description of Work: Fantastic Experience!!! Kevin is a very busy man. I called him(after reviewing Angie's List) while he was performing another job. Kevin knows his flooring and the installation process better than anyone I interviewed. His estimate was VERY fair. I would recommend ProFloorz/Kevin to anyone. Since this was a rental property and I live out of state, I had purchased the wrong size tile in my home city. Kevin was great about driving to several stores to help me chose a different tile. He suggested a tumbled marble that I was skeptical about. But his expertize proved correct. It is BEAUTIFUL!! He was very willing to meet my schedule even after I changed it twice. Honestly, I do not remember the member's calling me. I am usually very punctual, write everything down, and go above and beyond to make it to a scheduled appointment. If I am going to be just 5 minutes late, I will usually give a client a phone call as I know it reflects their view of me from the start. If I missed an appointment with the members I am very regretful and apologize for my lack of customer service. I only wish they had called me and given me the chance to make good with my mistake, loss of memory, or misplacement of the paperwork with their contact information and address. Without question, if I failed to make a scheduled appointment when I said I was going to be there, I deserve an F for this failure on my part. However, based on my previous scores, I think it is clear that I do not usually miss something like this. Once again, I apologize to the members and wish them the best of luck with their project.

Came immediately when called to give an estimate. Explained the procedure well. Took delivery of the linoleum at the shipping company. Prepared the areas for installation. Repaired the floor in the toilet area in the bathroom. Discovered and reported to me a problem with the glue. (A special-order glue was needed.) He ordered the glue and had it sent to the house. Came the day after the glue arrived and completed the installation in that day including re-installation of all the molding and placing all appliances back into their original position including installation of the toilet. Caulked the molding and gave instructions on painting. Returned the next day to repair one small area that had an appearance problem related to the pattern. Very knowledgeable, reliable, and punctual.

Kevin did a super fantastic job installing flooring through most of my home. I am so pleased with the quality of work he did! I am a do-it-yourselfer type, but due to an arm injury could not do the flooring myself as I had planned. I am really glad now that I didn't, because the caliber of work he did is something I could have never achieved myself. He is extremely honest and trustworthy, and I had no problem whatsoever leaving him in my home alone when I could not be there, or even giving him a key to come and go as needed. He treated my home with the same care as he would his own. The quality of his work is something you don't see much of these days. He is a craftsman, a perfectionist and very detailed, and his experience meant not only floors that are beautifully perfect, but there was very little waste saving me money. I am not an easy customer to please either. I just can't say enough about the great job he did. If you need flooring installed in your home, this is THE guy to call. You can rest assured that your floors will be done right at a fair price.

we recently used a bigger company to floor the majority of our house, after having used Kevin to finish the last two rooms we wish we had used him for all the work. We came across two snags in our project : there was unforeseen floor damage that needed new plywood and we were short on slate tiles that we had provided for the job. Kevin fixed both problems for and even spent half a day tracking down matching slate tile for us - all at just the cost of material, which was very generous since we had agreed to provide all necessary materials before work started. He was a lot more gentler on our house than the other flooring installer and left virtually no marks on the walls or baseboards. We would recommend him for flooring install rather than the company recommended by the flooring provider.
Description of Work: remove old flooring, install hardwood in dining room and install slate tile in front foyer.

I had purchased ceramic tile for the bathroom and needed it installed. They were a bit late arriving the first time but were very nice to work with. I did not have enough tile and had to order more so they had to come back an extra time but this was not a problem. The end result was very satisfactory.
Description of Work: Ceramic tile installed in bathroom. Looks very nice.

They did an amazing job. They were very well informed on what would work and what would not. They were cautious about making sure bad boards from the box were not used, and even caught the first floor I chose to use as being defective. They were very polite, honest and the price was the best out of the 5 estimates I got. I could not be happier with profloorz
