I have been a customer of Doc Savage Heating and Air Conditioning since the mid-1900s. From the office personnel to the servicemen there has always been an extensional sense of family, friendliness, professionalism, and caring. There is much more to be said about this group than their expertise and services. During the Pandemic toilet tissue was offered and delivered to clients when, or if, needed. In addition, Crystal (office manager) called periodically to ask if I was ok and if I needed anything. Joe, the owner, is actively aware of and contributes to our community. NEVER has there been pressure to purchase equipment. If something needs attention the servicemen will inform me, suggestions are given yet the decisions are mine without any pressure. Trust, friendliness, punctuality and professionalism are synonymous with Doc Savage Heating and Air Conditioning.

A real person actually answered the phone - hurray! They were able to send Don out the same day, and he explained the issues, gave me options and an accurate price quote. He fixed the problems that day, and was knowledgeable and helpful. I plan to buy a new unit and service package from them next year since my unit is old and limping along.
Description of Work: My AC unit went out suddenly yet again, and since I have not been happy with previous repair companies, I tried Doc Savage today. It was 87 deg in house.

My AC died in 90 degree weather. They came out, gave me an estimate on replacing the system on a Tuesday and had it installed by mid-day, the following Friday. Were neat and cleaned up after themselves. Were awesome and would recommend to others.

I wish that I could explain in words how exceptional his crew was. I work from home, and I have four noisy dogs who bark at everything. I had some very important meetings on both days that they were installing the unit. Jesse and Bruno scheduled their work around my meetings to minimize the risk of the dogs barking. They worked diligently for two full days to install my unit. I commented several times to my Long-distant coworkers that I didn't realize how hard it is to install a new unit. They worked diligently not only to get it done but to keep the area clean and do the job meticulously. Jesse explained all of the work that they were doing (and befriended my dogs), and left no mess. They even put rocks around my new unit since it is on a slight hill, and he wanted to minimize the erosion. He explained how the new unit will work and the thermostat functions as it is more high tech than my phone. It is incredible that it allows me to even set a humidity range. He was worried about how the thermostat looked on the wall so he was able to put a frame around it so that it hid the marks in the wall from the old thermostat. I wish that all of the people that have done work at my house would have been this exceptional. I cannot say enough nice things about the work that they did or the way that they worked with my needs. They did not pay me a dime or save me a dime to rave about their work. Their customer service by far exceeded my expectations, and I already knew from the previous installation how great they were.
Description of Work: A 24-year-old HVAC unit was replaced with a new dual-fuel unit and a vent was enlarged in my office. The technician came out on Saturday because our unit stopped working. He explained the pricing before he arrived so we were not surprised by the cost. There was a large hole in the unit that was causing carbon monoxide to come back in the house. Ola, the technician, explained that he had to disable our unit, and we totally agreed given that it had been slowly poisoning us. (I haven't had a headache all week, which had been a recurring problem for months.). Ola explained the pros and cons of fixing versus replacing our unit and did not try to unduly influence our decision. He gave us the price for fixing the unit and after we told him that we would rather get a new unit given the cost to repair it, he indicated that someone would call us to set up a visit to give us a quote for a replacement unit. He explained the problems with our unit and was a totally professional mechanic. I had every confidence in him. Chuck Spencer came to the house on Monday afternoon, and as promised he sent me several estimates that night. He had worked with me approximately five years ago when we had to replace the other unit in our house so I had no doubt that he would not sell us a larger unit than we needed and that it would work beautifully. He respondedly quickly the next morning to a couple of questions and said that he would send out a crew on Thursday.

Well,it is 90F plus outside and AC stopped working. First lace - couldn't get to me until next Thursday, next place, next Tuesday, next place - made an appointment for Monday. I called doc Savage, he said he could be there in 45 mins - 1 hr. About 30 minutes later, He came in, I showed him the thermostat, he checked the filter and went out back to the AC unit. He complained immediately about ease of access to the HVAC unit stating if he had to replace a heat exchanger, he would have to take down the deck. I showed him that the deck rail that has one side hemmed in came out with 12 screws. He indicated he would "do me a favor and do it this time" and said it would be 15-30 minutes to check it out. About 30 minutes he asked me to step outside. I did, he told me there was nothing to do - too tough to get too. He had already packed up. I thanked for his time and he left, I did not offer and he did not ask for pay. I called back the company tat scheduled me for Monday to confirm.
Description of Work: Came to repair the AC unit. Messed around outside for about 15 minutes, claimed it was to difficult to get to, packed up and left.

We believe this is a misunderstanding but this member needs to make sure before he gives a bad review to verify all information he plans to use. First of all Doc Savage retired many years ago so he couldn't have answered the phone or visited the member's home. Second of all there are no records whatsoever of this person or address in our detailed service records. If we had been to his home we would know. We are a full service HVAC company with 4 different female office employees who have the responsibility of answering the phone and several different highly trained service technicians who would never treat a customer in the fashion he describes. We believe the customer has just confused us with another company and hope he would give us a chance in the future to exhibit the type of service a truly professional organization like ours can deliver.

The workers were flawless, and managed to put two new vents in our home although it was beyond the call of duty and very difficult. We love our new system. The salesman didn't just sell, he came to see how the men were doing during the install, and even inspected the job afterward. The workers covered all traffic areas with heavy cardboard and tarps, and my home seemed even cleaner after they left. I would recommend Doc Savage as the go to service company for any heating/cooling.

Doc Savage installed an air conditioning system for upstairs solving all problems associated with installation in an older home. They did an extensive job for a downstairs system two years ago and, then as now, they excelled in problem solving skills and professionalism. Chuck Spencer did an excellent job evaluating my needs and setting everything up; John and Henry did a great job with the installation…working to solve all problems. Also, I would like to express appreciation to both Crystal and Kristie (not sure I have spelled their names correctly)…but I talk with them often on the phone and they are always so helpful and pleasant. Great job again…thank you very much!

They did show up when they said they would, and the technician did do the work, but I feel like he should have told me the cost of the cleaning solution that he was using, I certainly would have liked to known beforehand. The technician told me the evaporator coils were really dirty and that they would have to be cleaned, so I agreed, not realizing that the cleaner he was using, several times, would end up costing me $291.81, so with the diagnostic charge and the cleaner charge and the after hours charge, I paid $431.81 to have the coils cleaned on my air conditioner unit.
Description of Work: I am fairly new to Angie's list, but I have submitted this review for work done in the past, before I was an Angie's List member. We called Savage Heating and Air because we had used them before and were pleased with their work. Our AC was not blowing cold air, and it was 100 degrees outside, my husband was on midnights, and had to sleep during the day. The call was late in the day, so I was told there would be an extra charge for an after hours service call, and I was fine with that.

We appreciate the positive marks she gave us in part of her review, but when we saw the member's concerns about the cost we went back in our records and found her invoice. It seems there's some confusion on the price of the cleaner because it wasn't the cleaner that was the main charge, it was the labor. As she stated, it took several times to clear the completely blocked coil because of years of build up so our technician was there almost three hours, and that was on overtime which she agreed to before we started. Before we arrived the member had no cooling on a hot summer day and our technician did what was necessary to get her some relief. The other alternative would have been to replace the coil at a much higher cost. We were never notified by the member of her concerns until we saw the review of our services on Angie's list that she posted two years later, which we would have addressed immediately had we known, as we always do. Our number one commitment is the satisfaction of our customers, but we have to know there's a problem before we can fix it.

Work included new inside and outside unit for HVac, rerouted duct work if necessary, wrapped and pressure tested all upstairs duct-work. Installed digital thermostat. I got estimates from Savage and another company that had done work for me in the past. Savage was very responsive to my interest doing a bit more than a straight replacement. Including relocating the new condensing unit to reduce noise on the back deck, adding a return in the master bedroom for better air flow and optimizing that poor quality duct routing from when the house was built. I felt like I was part of a conversation not the recipient of a sales pitch. Their price came in over $900 less for an identical Trane system, and they filed the paperwork for the Georgia power rebates. The work took two full days which is what they told me. They were very careful of the house and cleaned everything up and hauled off all the debris. The new system is very quite, cools much more evenly and dehumidifies very well.
Description of Work: Replaced upstairs split unit Air Conditioner and Gas Furnace with a High efficiency AC and a Dual fuel heat pump/gas furnace. Added an extra return in the master bedroom and relocated the outside condensing unit away from the deck to reduce noise.

I had no problem with the service, but when it came to the bill, I thought it was excessive for just clearing the drain pipe for the AC. I asked the technician to explain the cost and he said the bulk of the charge was for troubleshooting. There was no troubleshooting involved. They were told on the phone what the problem was, and it was obvious that the pipe was blocked, so they cleared it. I also have a problem with their use of a drawing of the head profile of a Native American in their logo; associating the word Savage with Native Americans is not only insensitive and insulting, it is also inaccurate. There was savagery on both sides when the Europeans invaded the country and began killing and stealing and scamming in order to take everything away from the Native Americans. I think the Native Americans can be forgiven for acting in self defense against people bent on genocide. Look at the Trail of Tears and tell me who the savages were. "Doc Savage" should remember that there are still Native Americans around and find a better logo. The date and the cost are estimated from memory. I couldn't find the receipt.

We appreciate the member's concerns and are glad that he was pleased with the work that we performed. As far as the bill is concerned he wrote this review 5 years after the work was completed and just now has questions about the bill. We can assure him that if he would have called us asked about it at the time we would have addressed the issue promptly as we do with all of our customers. If he had also asked us about the logo at that time we could have let him know that Doc Savage, the founder of our business, is part Native American and very proud of his heritage. That's why he included the picture of an Indian Chief as part of his brand. We're sorry that the member misunderstood that Savage is used because that is his last name not because of we're making light of any group.

The job was so involved that I cannot list all that they did. It actually required more time to complete than they thought it would, but they took their time and did an excellent job. I specifically want to commend Henry the lead installer for the team who completed the work and Chuck Spencer who came out and evaluated my situation and made all recommendations. Chuck was my contact person from beginning to end and was always available to help if needed. I did not meet in person the office personnel, but all my contacts by phone have been very personable and helpful which I greatly appreciate. Again, I cannot emphasize enough, how pleased I am with the quality of work, the commitment to excellence, and the concern this company has for its customers. I was with another well-respected company for about 20 plus years but was so impressed with the thoroughness of the initial evaluation from Doc Savage and what they had to offer that I decided to go with them. I have been extremely pleased with that decision, and I expect to have them service all the equipment in the future. Great company...great people!
