Chuck Mock Painting And Wallcovering

Chuck Mock's company was hired, at great expense, to remove, repair, and paint our popcorn ceilings; to skim coat the hall wallpaper and paint it; to paint the walls, closets, trim, and plantation shutters throughout the entire house excluding only the bathroom vanities and the inside of a built-in cabinet. Holes were to be filled in and sanding done where needed to ensure smooth finishes. Mr. Mock assured us that he would be on the job everyday. He told us he did not use the type of paint we wanted used; that what he used was just as good and two coats would be sufficient. He also told us that he did not need to use oil base paint on the trim because a paint was now available that would stick to the oil base paint without a problem. The ceilings were done well. Mr. Mock was present when we checked up on the job. We were satisfied with ceilings. However, Mr. Mock was rarely present for the rest of the job. Most of the painting was left to a teenager with little experience and the paint job looks very amateurish. There are places where holes were not filled in, sanding was not done on rough places, drips were not removed or sanded off and repainted, not enough paint was on the roller to properly coat the walls. In order for the trim paint to properly adhere to the old paint the old trim needed to be sanded before painting. This was not done. When my wife checked the trim, she noticed that it was rough. She brought this to the attention of the workers and a bit of sanding seemed to have been done in some places, but nothing was redone. The paint is not of the quality we were expecting and looks cheap, plus with not enough being used, it just looks like a poor paint job. One of the workers, John, was outstanding, and a tremendous help with other problems that came to light as the job progressed. However, even he could not make up for the lack of prep work (sanding, taping, skimming) and the poor quality of paint. The result is: our ceilings look beautiful; the walls look like cheap paint and inexperienced workers did it; the paint is peeling off the trim if we bump into it or brush up against it. The trim paint will need to be sanded and repainted.

I thought it went very well until I noticed a small tear & repair right at the location of the sink handle. I called several times and was told that he would stop by to examine it. On the last time I called, he told me in no uncertain terms that he would not be coming back to fix it. I was horrified by his tone of voice so I put the phone on speaker - so that the others in the car would hear it and there would be NO mistake. I would change this review if he would come & fix the tear/repair b/c the rest of the job was wonderful. I'm sorry to have to do this but I feel I have no recourse.

I called Chuck Mock to paint the body of my kitchen cabinets as the drawers and cabinets were don't by the Augusta Training shop. the drawers and the cabinet doors came out beautiful but the body of the cabinets had places missed totally and the black outlining of the cabinets look as if a six year old did them the black didn't stay with the lines and it was just a lousy job at best. I called Chuck Mock to look at this and his response to me was, "There was nothing he was going to do.

I got three quotes, and he was higher than the other two guys. That is the reason why I chose not to use him. I think he would have been great to use but we were not willing to pay him that much. The interaction I had was good. My decision was completely on price, and he seemed to be completely out of line compared to the other two. He was pretty responsive.

He was nice enough and knew what he was talking about. He came off as very courteous.

We were so satisfied with the work Mr. Mock and his crew did for us in the fall that we hired him again to finish the painting and tile in the rest of our house. They were prompt, timely in their work, they were neat in all the work they did for us and very professional from start to finish. Mr. Mock was very helpful in recommendations about colors and types of paint to use and recommendations for future work that we will have done (flooring). Did a great job in Master bath where he did repair work to wall, where there was water damage and did a great job with the tile around the shower. Will definately hire again and definately recommend to others.

Original quote for living room, den, and hallway with paint was $600. I couldn't justify spending that much but really needed someone else to do the high work as my walls were 12ft tall. He got 5 gallons of egg shell sherwin williams paint and did the high work and living room for $350. Mr. Mock and his son came on a Saturday so I could be there to paint the den and hallway and loaned me the equipment so I could finish those areas after he left. When he was waiting for the paint to dry in the living room, he helped me paint part of the den gratis. Very kind and helpful, did more work than he agreed too. Definately recommend.
