I hired Mr. Woods to put a French drain in front of my house. He was unresponsive with calls or text most of the time, he always had an excuse on why he wasn't at my job site, he said he ordered materials I never saw, and when we decided to halt his employment with us he refused any refund. I gave him$1600 upfront, and all I have is a broken sprinkler system, a trench in front of my house, over $600 worth of damages (or more), and he refuses to refund anything. If you hire this guy, my suggestion is to not give him any money up front. He became very unprofessional the more I asked why he wasn't working on the project. I just filed the paperwork for small claims court.

Mr. Wood originally seemed very professional and capable. We did not look at reviews online prior to hiring him. A family member had used him and the work was done well. The work started in the week of April 9. It was supposed to take three weeks. We fired him on July 6th. When he worked he worked well. The main problem was inconsistent work and saying he was coming and not showing up. The work was consistent the first week or two. After that he didn't show up for two weeks, saying he pulled his back. Then it rained for 3 weeks. Following the rain he started back and he stated he had bigger jobs that he needed to catch up on but that he would continue to work on ours. We were understanding but it continued to drag on. He would say he was coming and not show up. This went on for another month. He would come 1x a week for a few hours. Then he would text and saying he was coming but not show up. His word became so unreliable and not trustworthy we couldn't count on anything he said. Then he approached us stating he had spend the money for supplies on income and wanted us to take the supplies out of the remaining labor money so he could continue. Instead of giving him money I called each of the stores and ordered and paid for the supplies. He started stamping the concrete walls since he now had the material needed. While his work looks good, getting him to work is the problem. After not hearing from him for two weeks we called and sent texts. No Reply! He finally texted that he was coming the next day, No Show! That was the last straw. I had his molds/forms for the stamping. We contacted him via text and told him he could pick up his forms when he brought the remaining supplies we had purchased. He came the next day to do the exchange. We are currently getting two estimates to get the work completed.

I contacted Mr. Woods from Above Average Concrete to re surface my concrete floors. He guaranteed me he would do a great job and that it would be no problem. After I gave Mr. Woods the deposit and a contract was written, I never heard from him again. He was supposed to start the job a few days later. I sent him a text and he responded with, he is trying to "catch" up and he assured me that he would "straighten me out." As of now, it's been three weeks and no sign of him. Above Average Concrete's web site is unavailable with an "error 451" code, which means legal issues. Word of advice, save yourself a headache and don't let William Woods anywhere near your property. I can't say how his work is, because he never started the project. He is nothing more than a shadetree contractor/crook.
First of all, he is not a professional. He talks a good game when he his trying to get your business. He was never on time except on the day he was to collect his money. Second, do not let his website lure you into hiring him. I reviewed his website and he stated he could stamp the concrete and make it look like brick. What he completed does not look like anything he advertise on his website; do not believe his website. Ask him for at least three referrals of jobs he has done and speak with those individuals. Also, do not pay him one red cent until you are completely satisfied with his product. Do not let him tell you he will return to fix something you are not comfortable with, because he will not return. His WORD is worthless.
Description of Work: My husband contacted Mr. Williams to extend our driveway and patio. He was to also stamp the concrete of the extended driveway so the concrete would resemble the brick color of my house. After he was done, I stated to him that the bricks are not brown, they are gray the same color as concrete. He said he applied the compound/paint and they would change color in three days. Its been more than three weeks and the bricks are still gray. He left excess dirt and concrete in my yard, one of the sprinklers he moved is exposed (you can see the hose that should be in the ground), and he stated he will return to fix those issues. He has not appeared.

When I first contacted Mr. William Woods he came right on out to look at what I needed done, gave me some ideas and told me of his web site to check out. As with all contractors and people who deal with the public, you're not going to please everyone so after reading a few of the comments, pros and cons I asked him questions and got answers and knew what I could expect out of the end result. I couldn't be happier with his work, and wouldn't hesitate in hiring him again or recommending him to friends! l

Project never was completed. Request a refund and still waiting. Basically I was lied to. It took forever for him to return your calls and when he did he was full of excuses. Mr Woods was given multiple opportunities to complete to job but never did. Would tell you that he more important jobs that yours. Also he does not have any valid business license as they all are expired. His contract is a joke as he refused to follow it himself. People do not hire this man.
Description of Work: Destroyed my back yard and refused to finish the job as described in the contract. Very rude and not punctual. He felt as he can work on the project when he wanted.
Driveway and walkway were completed. Staff/ owner were very nice and was a very good price but never finished the work. I am very disappointed. I have called owner several times and twice he told me he was coming to finish the work and he never showed. I paid half before he started and the rest when concrete was finished prior to the color being done.
Description of Work: Company took out existing driveway (asphalt) and poured and finished concrete driveway and walkway. I had the end of the driveway and walkway done in "stamped" stone with color. The owner never returned to finish my color and left boards and orange cones in my yard.

We won a judgement in Magistrate court for the 2100.00 down payment plus court costs in August, 2012. Nearly one year later, Mr. Woods has still not paid us this money. At one point he stated that he would pay us back in installments, but has never set this up with the court. We have entered a Fifa to confiscate his property in order to get some payment. And we have contacted the Marshall to keep an eye out for him. He is a thief! He will steal your money and do no work or shoddy work. Do not use Mr. Woods' "Above Average" Concrete "business".
Description of Work: This is an update on an earlier post. Mr. Woods took 2100.00 up front for materials but did nothing except fill a few concrete cracks that quickly fell apart. We took Mr. Woods to Magistrate court in Augusta, Georgia.

It must be really nice to sign a contract , make changes and then change your mind.....and yes you did win the judgement because i was out of town on that date and also the non truths......I have been in business over 10 years it is very hard to stay in business with today economy but when people have to go to the extreme to make false statements it makes it even more difficult to stay a float...I am not a thief that i am not. Yes it rain like crazy during your job and i discussed that with you at that time...I wish i could control things like the weather and small mistakes....All i can do is give the best effort on any and all jobs that i have had over the last 10 years...I have had some really great costumers that have alot of understanding and patience during the process.....I ground down your entire pool deck prep and ready to spray.... i ground and repaired all the cracks in your driveway. It took about 3 days to get that done....then the rain started....3 days later you where firing me because of that rain .....you know thats the truth....i feel that when i take the deposit its for materail and labor and that is what was paid for.....as far as Im concerned according to the contract that you signed "based on weather conditions" then you still owe me $2750.00.......Im not going to call names and make false statement just to tell my side....

Horribly. See above comment. He also cost the concrete company $300 because he did not show up to meet them to perform our job.
Description of Work: Service provider did not show up for job and was then unresponsive. We were desperate for the work to be done and attempted to give him another chance. He seemed apologetic and very willing to do the work at first. However he then demanded money up front and was extremely rude and unprofessional. I had to text him that we had found another contractor because of his unprofessionalism over the phone. His response "kool" and "please do not us ever again I do not have time for games." This is not how respectable contractors do business. Clearly his company is a fraud based on these reviews.

On 9 April 2013 Mr. Woods and two of his workers showed up to finalize project and sign contract. At that time we gave him color pictures of how we wanted our pool deck and driveway to look. We also gave him color paint chips for both the driveway and the pool deck, he explained that working with concrete was difficult to get an exact color match but assured us the colors would be close. He also explained that grinding cement off the pool deck wood produce a great deal of dust and he would mitigate the dust by covering our patio and extensive vegetable & flower gardens around the pool with plastic. He also stated that he would cut additional expansion joints in the driveway to allow for expansion and minimize future cracking. He presented the project in a professional manner and made many statements/promises he never kept. We paid him half of the $5,500. for materials up front which was our first mistake. o A small amount of work began on 13 April 2013 o From that day forward I had to constantly badger Mr. Woods to finish the job or at least show up, too many excuses were used to explain his absences I.e... Flat tire on truck, stolen/lost cell phone, one of his 3 workers arrested and in jail, his other BIG job had his priority o We had many text/phone conversations where he stated he would show up and NEVER did, we even had one heated conversation where he threatened to dump the material he bought with my down payment on my front lawn and quit (I should of taken him up on his offer and saved myself the stress of the next 6 weeks). o 20 April 2013 was suppose to be the weekend he completed the job, we went on Vacation for a week and thought we would find project completion upon our return. I received many text messages stating project on track, cracks in driveway done, pool deck ground off, color resurfacer down today...color resurfacer down tomorrow. Most of which I found out upon my return was all lies. o 18 days into the project they had fixed cracks in driveway and ground off pool deck surface. The worst part of the project to date was the mess, destruction and mess left behind by grinding off the pool deck surface: a. No plastic was used to cover our patio/flowers/vegetables b. Cement dust and paint chips covered our pool bottom, deck extension and plants c. Plastic expansion joints were destroyed/ground off during process d. Two hoses were destroyed e. Three solar lights were broken o. Mr. Woods and crew NEVER cleaned up the mess during the whole project, the waste material was left covering our back yard. o. The following weeks were stressful because again he never returned to finish the job, I kept calling and texting until he showed up one afternoon and applied the resurfacer/color. The resurfacer he applied was done by laying out the base color, applying monofilament tape over the base color to create stone joints then applying the next color over the light color. A process which probably would have worked well and looked nice except he never came back for a week to peel up the tape. o The monofilament tape under the resurfacing material was left for a week to bake in the hot Georgia sun, needless to say after much badgering he finally sent one worker to peel off the tape. What a mess- the tape was so stuck to the first layer of resurfacer the worker had to chip one inch at a time to release the tape- what a mess. Most of the joints are ragged and the tape is still stuck to the deck. The resurfacer is missing in many planes and the pool coping is stained with dye. We spent a couple hours helping the worker trying to complete the tape removal just to get them to finish the job. Mr. Woods finally showed up with a 2nd worker and it took them all day to remove the tape (the first worker said it was left too long, it should have been removed NLT 24-48 hours after and not a week later) o Again another mess because Mr. Woods was busy on another job and pushed our job to the bottom of his priority list). o After pulling tape Mr. Woods cleaned up by blowing cement chips into our pool and grass. He also dumped the excess resurfacing material on our lawn and down our French drains which clogged our drain sumps and killed our lawn. o driveway project was also a mess- workers used the wrong color to paint the field- we now have a blue driveway instead of grey. The decorative brick edging is way too light grey, it was suppose to match the dark vessel grey of our house and it is not even close. o Two final issues, when they GROUND OFF the plastic expansion joints by mistake on the pool deck Mr. Woods stated he would use a calking material to fix the joints, he calked them with NP1 a very sticky joint calk material. He did such a poor job calking them that they were so UGLY I had to remove all the calking material which took me over 8 hours to cut it out. He stated they were uneven and ugly because he would go back and use a utility knife to cut them smooth and even. This NEVER happened, he hooped the calk in and left. To add insult one of his workers walked through the sticky calk and spread calk covered foot prints all over the deck. What a mess which was never cleaned up, when I called and told him about the mess he told me to leave it and he would peel it off the next day. Well when he did not come back till late the next day the damage was done. o final Issue- not one week after he supposedly completed the job the driveway is CRACKING in two places. I contacted him and he stated he would look at it when he had time. 7 days later no Mr. Woods, so I made a Better Business Complaint, he contacted me via text about coming to look at cracks, the BBB contacted him, he became upset over the complaint and refused to fix the cracks. I gave him 7 days to assess the cracks, just like the previous 6 weeks it took him to destroy our pool deck and driveway...he was too busy doing other jobs to fix mine. I needed to repaint my BLUE driveway to the correct color GREY and did not want to paint when he needed to grind out cracks. Above Average Concrete is really a below average company, the owner is unprofessional and rude. Our many conversations via text and phone were negative and he often became angry every time I pushed him to finish a job he said would take a week to ten days to finish. He is overextended on work and does not manage his jobs in a timely manner. His work is shoddy and his attitude is very belligerent. This whole nightmare has caused way too much stress, taking Mr. woods insults just to get a job done has been the worst experience of our lives. He knows that for the $5,500. A home owner will not expend thousands of dollars to take him to court nor will the BBB accomplish anything to hurt his business. I hope by writing about our nightmare on Angie's list I will save other home owners the hassle and stress we have experienced for the past two months. Mr. woods the owner of Above Average Concrete is one business you should stay far away from. I have video, pictures, email and text messages to substantiate these statements.

Mr. Woods responded right away to a request for quote and came out to the house to provide a quote within 24 hours. The only reason for the B grade in responsiveness and punctuality had to do with weather and not the performance of Mr. Woods and his staff. The service was excellent and extremely professional. The stamped concrete looks beautiful with two different patterns used flawlessly. From start to finish the entire project took less than two days from ground breaking to the concrete forms pulled and clean up of the site. The entire crew was extremely conscientious and very good to work with. They paid very close attention to not disturbing the yard and driveway and replaced sod around the sidewalk when they were done to give it a nice finished look.
