The week of July 2 I experienced damage from one of the storms we had. I was referred to Mr. Thacker and his company, The Morgan Group by a friend. Mr. Thacker provided an estimate and I also worked with my insurance company to diagnose the problem. There was a problem with the roof and there was damage to my interior walls and ceiling. Since I had worked with Mr. Thacker on the estimate I decided to give him the job to make the necessary repairs. BIG MISTAKE. Mr. Thacker was to complete the job over two days...August 4 and August 5. I explained to him that I didn't want them at my house longer than the two days and that if he needed to stay late Saturday so he wouldn't be there long Sunday, I was ok with that. I also explained that I get up early (4:30 AM) for work. Mr. Thacker said not a problem and that he would get the job completed in the time I requested. Saturday August 4:Mr. Thacker was to arrive at 7:30AM to begin work. He didn't get there until 8:00AM. The crew that he brought to complete the roof got to work immediately and completed work on the roof in less than 5 hours and the work (so far) is ok. The night before I moved the furniture out of the family room so that the interior crew could get started immediately. I actually didn't have to do that because the cost of furniture removal was included in the work order. But I found that moving the furniture didn't help the crew at all and the two gentlemen he brought with him started painting the loft first. And didn't do ANYTHING to the other areas that were to be painted. As far as the removal of furniture in the loft, the two older gentlemen did move items out of the loft but I told them to put something over the sofa as it was hard to get up in the room and would be a problem getting out. They did as I asked. The loft only had two walls to be painted. It took two gentlemen 5 HOURS to paint those two walls. The walls are no longer than 8 feet and no taller than 8 feet. The internal crew and Mr. Thacker left at 3:00. When he was leaving I told him that there was a lot to do and he stated that he would be in the next morning and that the rest would be completed and he would be out of my house in the late afternoon. Sunday August 5:Mr. Thacker was again to arrive at 7:30 and again didn't arrive until after 8:00. He had two new men with him to start the painting. I asked when he would be finished as much wasn't completed Saturday. He said they would be finished around 3:30 PM. I checked periodically on the progress and told Mr. Thacker that I didn't think that he would be finished by 3:30 and that I was clear when I stated that he needed to finish Sunday and I didn't want him in my house ALL DAY. He then said he would be finished by 4:30. Didn't happen. Mr. Thacker finally left my house at 9:37PM and that was only because I told him he had to leave and that I was not happy with his services. While painting the ceiling he placed tape on my custom painted wall. The tape pulled off the paint and the paint that I thought was touch up paint ended up not being the right color. Instead of Mr. Thacker letting me know that the color was not correct, he let it dry and said (hours later) that he was going to tell me I gave him the wrong paint. I then asked why he didn't tell me earlier and he said I gave him the paint and that he thought it would dry lighter. It was then that I knew he had to get out of my house and soon. The custom paint job cost me hundreds of dollars and now I have to get someone in to correct the problem. The touch up paint it so dark that it looks like dark bugs are at the top of my wall. I also specifically told him not to paint a particular area in my family room. He did it anyway. The wall looks AWFUL . After they left, I looked at the wall that wasn't painted in the loft and the tape they used actually pulled some of the paint off of the wall. I made sure to take pictures so that I could share them with the individual that recommended him to me. I did pay Mr. Thacker for the services that he did but did not pay him the entire amount of the quote. After looking at his work this morning (August 6) I should have paid him less than I did. In addition the following were major issues: 1. The painting was sloppy. 2. Paint was spilled on my carpet (the two men were able to get most of it up). 3. My light fixture in the loft was not placed back in the ceiling. 4. Condensation from my air conditioning unit overflowed in the drip pan (that Mr. Thacker checked a week earlier and said was not an issue) and caused the new paint job to bubble in more than one place. 5. Paint from my custom paint job was pulled off (mentioned above). Paint from the feature wall in the loft was pulled off by the tape they used. 6. He did not purchase insulation that I paid for which meant that this job was not going to be a two day job since he didn't tell me that he didn't have the insulation until after 8:00PM on Sunday night. 7. He was unprofessional and late. 8. He was not considerate of my time. I would NEVER USE THE MORGAN GROUP again and I also told this to the individual who recommended him to me. His incompetence will now cost me more as I have to get someone in to correct the issue with the paint and to repair the issue with the air conditioner.
