Paul does top-knotch work. He has excellent attention to detail and the way he fits the tile into the space so mathematically perfect takes real skill. He did the tile work on our c1900 Grant Park Victorian house and it blended so nicely with the old antique trim. The antique trim was not square or level so making the tile fit seamlessly took time and care. We will definitely hire him again.

Paul Presgrove of StoneHorseTile was wonderful to work with. He replaced an old shower with a tiled, curbless shower, and tiled the bathroom floor. He helped pick out the tile and stone features based on the practical use of the rental property. He also fixed a drainage problem in the shower floor. The tile work was beautiful. He was methodical, timely and provided tile design and functionality ideas. His rates were reasonable and the work was skilled and professional. I highly recommend this company for any tile work.

I called Paul to remedy a previous homeowner's botched renovation. He removed an attempt at a "river rock shower floor" and replaced it with beautiful penny tile. Paul was honest with an estimate and timeline, and after 3 years I am still happy with the updated shower floor.

Paul is artistic and meticulous. My husband is an architect and extremely picky about balance and symmetry. Paul did exactly what we wanted and beautifully. Couldn’t be more pleased with his work. He is extremely professional, arrives when he says, works and finishes on time. The best tile guy in Atlanta.

Paul completed demo and install of my bathroom floor tile (including toilet and vanity re-install). All work went smoothly and according to plan. Final product looked great, tile was level and grout lines flawless. Paul was on time and completed work in estimated timeframe. His price was fair. Ended up very happy with the bathroom renovation. Would certainly use again!

Paul was amazing! I called him in to take down and redo a failed bathroom renovation. He immediately recognized the issues and responded with options to fit my situation. He found a similar marble tile to create a seamless look and improved my bathroom dramatically. He was friendly, professional, and easy to work with to create the bathroom I wanted.

Very well. Paul has helped me a few times, with bathroom renovations where he has managed the whole project (getting plumbers and electricians), a couple of fireplaces and a handful of kitchen backsplashes. Paul is easy to work with and very helpful with his advice. I manage a handful of rental homes and he's my go-to guy.

He could not have been better; very professional, always prompt, very courteous, extremely neat in doing the job, and did a great job. He made an ordinary backsplash look great by placing some tiles horizontal and others in a diagonal pattern, and even used a border. The entire stone backsplash looks wonderful and is a great focal point the minute you look into the kitchen. In the beginning Paul came to the house to look at the job and explain different ways of doing it, and gave us different sources for purchasing the tiles, as well as how many the job required. He even worked with our time line, which was difficult with my husbands schedule. We were impressed with the exactness of his placement of the tiles and measuring it precisely when at the house the first time, as well as before starting placement of the actual stone tiles. We will be doing another tile project in the future and will definitely call Paul to do that project.

I thought the job went pretty well. They did good work. I would use them again if I had to, but I would look for some other quotes. There were a couple of minor issues, but overall the work was done very well. We had some issues where a little bit of the drywall was broken off and couldn't be completely repaired. They were very professional.

Thank you for the comments. We enjoyed taking care of this remodeling project for you. Regarding the drywall issue, there were areas of drywall that needed to be repaired underneath the shower area in the kitchen, where the shower had been leaking. Two remodeling contractors were referred to the Nair's for this repair, in addition to other repairs, and it was agreed that whoever was hired to repair the drywall in the kitchen could patch the area near the shower, which was about 1/2"x3". It was not my understanding that any concern would be made regarding this issue, as drywall and/or paint are often required after removing a full shower enclosure, and other paint issues existed in the master bathroom.

Started the job fine and was in fact very impressive. He did not choose a tile in the beginning which caused some heartburn after he did all the demo work and was ready for tile. Searching and searching to find one as close as possible. We decided about 3/4 of a way through the job not to continue with him as we weren't sure about his intentions anymore (after we felt he was trying to upsell us to a shower replacement because of the tile situation). I was tired of the whole situation and passed it off to my husband. He told my husband that he "had another $190" into the job. We promptly sent a check for $200. He returned it saying that he wanted $300 and wouldn't take any less. We would not be held hostage to him because we had to hire another tile company, Ormand Tile, who had to come in and sand down his walls and redo a curb that he set because it was crooked. Ormand can verify this. The drain he put in was also crooked and remains crooked today. It cost us quite a bit to deal with another company, and the job ended up costing probably double. After I resent the $200 check, he sent it back and filed a lien on us for $400. My husband and I have impeccable credit, references, and this was all quite foreign to us. Have never had this type of problem with service providers in our home. So, we went from him having another $190 in the job to being billed for $300, then having a lien filed on us for $400. He knew that we wanted to sell our home, so we'll probably end up having to pay his ransom to do so. He also threatened to sue us if we wrote a negative report on Angie's List.

The following link illustrates a photo of the tile selection presented to this client, prior to any construction. https://picasaweb.google.com/117384030614635874434/TileSelectionAngieslistMember# This member was made aware that the 25 yr old shower she was attempting to "restore" was of very poor construction. More specifically, the walls are ceramic tile set with mastic (glue adhesive) over sheet rock. Neither mastic nor sheet rock are suitable in water environments, such as showers. In fact, during the construction process, a large area of the wall section literally "fell away". The integrity of the walls were com.plete.ly compromised. The client was made aware of this, but insisted on continuing with her project, and disregarding my best advice. The client was made aware that the drain, (which was set in concrete slab) would probably need replacement, given its age. It was agreed that the drain would, in fact, need replacement, the cost of the process previously agreed to. After the drain installation was done, the soap scum had to be snaked out of the drain. The total $400 cost of this process is above and beyond our original contract amount, which was agreed to prior to installation. ($300 drain replacement/$100 snaking trap) The shower curb was Identically matched to it's original placement, as the 25 yr old shower door "had to" be reused, constraining the height. Existing floor tile dictated its outermost placement. . Any discrepancies accurately made, regarding the curb alignment, would be due to its prior original construction, in relation to existing floor tile and shower door replacement. We never made any comment that an amount of $190 was "still in the job". What was conveyed was that 75-80% of the job was completed, and that additional plumbing had forced a change order for $400. The final step of applying tile to surfaces was all that remained. Long after tile selections for the shower floor were made (2inch mosaic porcelain tile), and while "en route" to pick up her tile selection, she calls to change the floor tile selection. That would have been a suitable exchange "BEFORE" we had mudded the shower floor, but since the shower was already prepped for the 3/16" thick porcelain tile, and NOT the 3/8" tile she selected, we had reached an impasse. She began saying I should shave the backs of the 1"x1" mosaic tile in order to use them AND TO to set these ONE INCH tiles individually, instead of on 1 foot x 1foot sheeting, which hold 144 per square foot. This demand was simply unacceptable. It was clear that this client had difficulty understanding the construction process, in spite of hours of advice on what were their best options. This advice was ignored at every step of the process. In short, I find this report vengeful. I'm very sorry that the bathroom wasn't suitable for a tile restoration, but on her insistence, we did the most professional restoration available. This clients displeasure was primarily a result of an inability to listen/comprehend what she was forewarned about, and an unwillingness to be reasonable about selections she had previously made. This client still thinks I was trying to "upsell" her a new shower, instead of realizing her shower wasn't worth restoring in the first place. EVERY effort was made, not only to inform this client forehand, of ALL the possible ramifications of color match, but that the walls she wanted to keep were severely compromised. There was a very determined response to all of this, and that was, this client was adamant that a full redo was not an option. So we did everything we could possibly do to please this client , and to install the tile she selected, professionally. We did, in fact, make this shower "tile ready", and in keeping with the original tile selection. When new tile was introduced, even though subfloor height had already been installed, and the demand to "make it work" was made, we clearly realized it was time to let this project go, and to recover the cost for "only" the work that had been accomplished. It was far too late to start tearing out cement subfloor and redoing it, to satisfy this whimsical choice.

We've enjoyed the pleasure of working with this client. Over several years, we've had the opportunity to do many remodeling projects, including the removal of vinyl or carpet and tack strips, and installed about 2000SF of tile through the kitchens, living rooms, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and hallways, in 3 different homes. We're currently preparing to install granite counter tops in one home, now. Thanks for the repeat business.

We had a very positive experience, from start to finish. The concrete basement floor, which was previously covered in carpet, turned out to be very uneven. Paul took great care to get the floor level and to get the existing cracks repaired before beginning his install. It took him a couple of days of pure prep work to accomplish this, but we were very pleased that he took this time to do things right. My husband is VERY particular, and Paul was just as detail-oriented, so they got along great! StoneHorse Tile was a little more expensive than the other estimate we had gotten, but we decided that for a high-quality job, we would be willing to spend a little more. His eye for detail made all the difference in the finished look of our basement. We would definitely use this company again. Paul is a true professional.

I'd like to take the time to echo some thoughts shared in this report, namely, that it was indeed a pleasure helping the member's with their project. This type project is what makes my job worthwhile; I'll take these customers day in and day out. They're not solely interested in price; they want a job well done; they're not looking to resell the property and hope to mask problem issues to be passed on to buyers; they are detailed oriented and expect that their investment is worth trusting to professionals. The main concerns were a number of cracks in the foundation, as well as a very uneven surface throughout the 1200+ square foot basement. We leveled/flattened areas of concern, because the large tiles will not sit flat. Without this floor prep, tiles will not sit solidly on the subfloor surface, and are susceptible to breaks, in addition to tiles sitting above/below one another. I explained the need to accomplish this floor prep, and they understood it was a good idea to cover these issues before setting tile. In the end, I'd like to think this work is what sets us apart from other companies that would not be as efficient in making sure the finished product was flat and solidly set. We much appreciate the opportunity to serve the Russell's and look forward to continuing opportunity. High regards Paul Presgrove StoneHorseTile 404/543.3210

I wanted to add a tile backsplash to my kitchen upgrade, and choose a mosaic tile with a rather tricky pattern. I got a few estimates from other tile installers, receiving high and low cost estimates and hearing varying degrees of familiarity with the type of tile. Paul Presgrove of Stonehorse Tile gave me the best combination of price and knowledge. He started as soon as the tile came in and worked quickly but carefully. He managed to fit the weird tile pattern into some small places in a manner that was both seamless and an efficient use of the tile. I chose a dark grout that left a slight tint on the tile (despite pre-sealing) that bothered me. Even though the tint was barely noticeable and not his fault, Paul came back to strip and reseal the tile (for free) so that I was satisfied with the color. I?m very happy with the final product and have received many compliments on the new backsplash.

Enjoyable experience because I got to participate in the design.
Description of Work: Bath Remodel We hired StoneHorseTile to remodel a bathroom in our downstairs guest apartment. There were numerous plumbing issues to be addressed both in the walls and in the ceiling where tile would be applied. They installed a patterned porcelain tile in grid and diagonal fashion, along with mosaic stone tile. We had a shower built with a 3 sided curb, shower door installed and tile applied to floor, walls and ceiling. Tile was installed in such a way as to allow for special pipes in the shower wall (because a load bearing concrete wall prevented rerouting), and also wrapped around duct work in the ceiling. They paid careful attention to detail, working diagonal and grid patterns into the walls, as well as mosaic bands, and set diagonal tile to the ceiling. The end result is a beautiful small bath which looks like a picture out of a tile magazine.

Fine. I have found that if I give Paul some latitude his artistic nature gives me something better than I expected.
Description of Work: Fireplaces We hired StoneHorseTile to build a fireplace in our vacation rental property near Stone Mountain, Georgia. I had tried to do this work myself, but opted to hire someone more professional after realizing the complexities. We provided the stone and they created a superb fireplace surround, using a purple/pink colored marble, which was accented with a slab white marble band which met the chair rail and double keystone above the fire pit. A gas line needed to be incorporated and could not be moved and they cut/polished/bored out the marble tile to allow for the gas key to function without having the line moved. Now, the fireplace makes a very warm centerpiece to the living room and is a great selling point when renting this property to our vacationing clients.

Description of Work: Landscaping - Hardscaping & Pavers We hired StoneHorseTile to do some stonework for us. They built a mailbox for us with cinder blocks to be veneered with flagstone. Before the flagstone was applied the mailbox was actually hit by a car and knocked over. To our amazement, it was unscathed, uncracked, and we stood it back up and the stone veneering was installed. Most mailboxes struck by a vehicle would have cracked and broken and we see this as a testament to the quality of work provided by StoneHorseTile.
