STEVE DUNCAN CUSTOM CABINETS

This guy stole our deposit. He was suppose to build 8 cabinets, took a deposit, and never showed up to do the work. We continue to call, however, he does not answer the phone and it is not possible to leave a message. We were able to talk to him once and he said that he would call back and set up an appointment, which turned out to be a lie. We are in the process of suing him, but I have no expectation that he will ever show up to court. If this is the type if vendor on Angi list, I will think twice about using them for anything.

After not hearing from him for about a week I called him and he said he would call me back shortly but he never did. If he didn't want the job he could have said so initially or on the follow-up calls. Very unprofessional.

They did a fantastic job. They were consummate professionals. When they first came to take measurements for the office, we expected it would take a short time. In fact they spent several hours taking careful measurements, discussing what we wanted and proposing a number of ideas. They produced a spectacular office for us, even better than we had hoped. It is beautiful and functional. The installation was very careful, precise, and appears seamless to this day. Our only real complaint was that we thought it would be done a bit faster, but I think that was more about our unrealistic expectations on how long it would take to custom build furniture than any fault on their part. We are very very happy with the result and would absolutely use them again.

See above. Steve provided estimates for the two sub-projects. The final was within $150 of the estimate, which considering an extra trip was worth it. Took two visits, since he had to take the maple solids back to his shop to prepare them. Think This Old House for the attention to details, and cleanup.

My dream was to have a study. A study that was full of wood. Steve Duncan took my dream, helped me translate that dream into specific ideas that not only delivered what I needed, but helped me see some ways that would deliver even more than I hoped for. When he came to give an estimate he carefully listened to what I was looking for- and then helped me refine that vision into something that would be both practical and beautiful. What kind of storage was I looking for - open or closed? Did I need bookcases that worked for small items, tall books (I'm a professor so lots of books). How could I take advantage of lots of storage but not feel like I was closed in. What kind of outlet access would I need? The room included sloped ceiling, under eave storage and other oddities. He took detailed measurements and then drew a sketch to outline what our vision for the room would be. When I mentioned that I was going to have canned lights put in- he proceed to help me figure out the optimal placement in the ceiling. He also identified where I could move the outlets and switch plates so that the bookcases would still allow access. As he was leaving the first day he noted that the main staircase was missing some pieces to hide the hardware- he noted that he could fix that for me as well. My dog was a bit nervous when Steve first arrived, but in addition to all the other wonderful things he can do- he also loves dogs.When he and Joe came back to start installing the pieces- they carefully installed everything. I have a rolling card that slips in - but can be removed to access the storage under the eaves. Each bookcase is securely attached to the wall. The filing cabinets drawers pull out completely- so you can access every inch of it. Everything is solid and sturdily made. The finish is just what I requested.Every day I walk into my study, sit down at my desk and think how lucky I am to have worked with Steve and Joe L. They are truly craftsmen that love their work.
