Did not purchase my appliances from them, but since renovating our house in 2003 have had multiple issues with high end microwave, washer/dryer, and refrigerator. Sewell has been servicing these items for approximately 3-5 years. Sewell was always prompt with scheduling and repair. Had to order parts in the past, the serviceman was always in constant contact with me, arriving to repair the item in question immediately. Excellent service, every single time.
Description of Work: Fried motherboard for microwave, and then later for washer. Washer with error messages or not emptying properly. Refrigerator problems with cooling/ice.

I enjoyed the level of service Sewell provided. They also have the high end appliances that are not available at Home Depot. I ended up with a Bosch and could not be happier.
Description of Work: Sewell came out and determined that our 13 year old Asko dishwasher had seen better days. They gave me a store credit on the service visit toward the purchase of a new dishwasher. They came out a couple of weeks later to hook up the new one.

If you go to the Sewell appliance website it talks about what great service they provide. What service? Before you go there I recommend you study their website. It does say that they do not service MANY of the products they sell. Because I had been without a freezer for 2 months and a refrigerator for 2 weeks, I spent last night fixing the refrigerator myself. The fan housing was damaged..in shipping, I guess. I hired R&R Installation to put the Microwave and Dishwasher in...they came the very next day. They re-aligned the frige as the doors were out of alignment, installed the Microwave (it is dented but I'll give up on that battle with Sewell and live with the dent), and installed the Dishwasher. I do not think it is the customer's job to update the subs on the job..it is Sewell's job. If they don't want the job, then don't recommend a sub to me. Tell the customer at the point-of-sale that the customer is on their own. I have given up on Sewell and their recommended subs and I have hired a finish carpenter who works with Doug Kingsley of Paintworks as I know he is one of the best. I have purchased all of my major appliances with Sewell since I moved here in 1980. You'd think especially in this economy that they might scramble a little. Oh, by the way, I have a full-time job. My patients are getting a little fed up with my having to reschedule their appointments. But I call them and apologize and they have been very kind about it.
Description of Work: I ordered a GE Profile Refrigerator, Dishwasher, and Microwave on March 18, and my card was charged on March 18. The appliances were ordered to replace existing out-of-date custom wood-overlayed appliances. That meant that once the appliances were delivered, new wood overlayments would have to be built. I got a call that a part of the order was backordered for two weeks...two weeks turned in to two months. I finally got delivery on May 19. I do not recall a company charging my card and floating my money like this in years. They only installed the refrigerator as per the contract, and gave me the names of people they told me were reliable installers but left it up to me to keep calling them with an update as to when the appliances would actually be available at my home for installation and wood overlayment. I had to keep apologizing and calling the Sewell-recommended sub. After the Sewell refrigerator installers left, I noticed a loud noise coming from the refrigerator and called Sewell. They couldn't get anyone out right away. And they couldn't tell me when GE could come out. So, I spent the next 3 hours fixing it myself...I'm glad my Dad taught me a lot as a kid. I called the person they recommended to use to do the wood overlayment...he said "call me next Tuesday, I have to go to the airport, I'll let you know when it is convenient for me". WOW!

The dishwasher backed up full of water. I could not get it to drain. The clothes dryer had been giving trouble for some time but I was reluctant to call until it had completely failed. Since the technician was coming for the dishwasher, I asked him to look at the dryer, which he did, and then he gave an estimate for how much parts and labor would be when he returned. He was uncertain as to how long it would take for him to receive parts, but this was not an issue for me since I have a second clothes dryer in my basement. The technician showed up promptly for each of his two visits, did his work, was friendly and answered all questions to my satisfaction. I paid him upon completion each time and he departed after cleaning up any mess that was made.
Description of Work: Dishwasher would not drain. Clothes dryer was running poorly, hard to start, very loud. Technician fixed dishwasher and offered remedy to prevent recurrence. He looked at the dryer and determined that the motor was shot and the rollers for the drum were warped. He said he'd order parts for these repairs and return when they arrived at his place of business. He did return and performed the work quickly, expertly, and answered all my questions about same. I was pleased and would happily call them again for service.

We have been very pleased with the service that we have received from them. They have been very responsive and follow up on any problems or questions we have had. The price was a little expensive, but I would not go anywhere else.
Description of Work: They sold us a new Kitchen Aid dishwasher and a full service agreement for one full year. With our service agreement, if we have any kind of problem, they will fix or replace the dishwasher free of charge.

Sewell gave me a good quote on appliances, they answered my questions and the sales people were really nice and educated. The best part of all was they did not charge anything for the consultation visit. Based on all of this, I am definitely thinking about having them do a job for me.

He left the originals in case my husband wanted to examine them, which was a waste as my husband doesn't know a screw from a nail. But I thought it showed concern. The bill was in line with my expectations and certainly less than a new refrigerator, which was my husband's vote.
Description of Work: Repairman arrived a few minutes before the scheduled appointment. My six year old refrigerator would not dispense water or ice. He found the problem easily and replaced the defective parts.

They came out the same day as I called. They advised us that it could cost almost as much to replace the motor as it would be to buy a new refrigerator. We asked them if they had any used refrigerators and they did have a Kenmore that was only about 7 years old. We did save a lot of money for now with the used fridge. It was nice not to have him push a new one on us since we were short on funds. We are happy to have found Sewell Appliance Sales.

They came out immediately and they did a pretty good job. We did not know this when we first called them, but they only do work on equipment that they sold. Luckily, they had sold the equipment to the previous owner, so they were willing to fix it. It took awhile for them to get the parts in because we have an older model refrigerator. I had a little problem communicating with them upfront, but other than that they were a great company to work with. I do not feel like I can rate the price because I do not have anything to compare it to.
Description of Work: Our refrigerator was not working properly. There was no way to gauge how much Freon that should go it and it was not getting cold enough. They basically had to rebuild the entire refrigerator.

Had to wait three weeks for parts. And then I had to remind repair man that he had already charged me $128 for the first visit. He reduced the final bill and apologized after I showed him the receipt. He did a good job, and worked out a problem with one of the hoses in a creative way. I thought they were a little expensive, though.
Description of Work: Believe it or not, rats damaged our dishwasher and washing machine. Sewell Appliance replaced all rubber hoses in our 35-year old Maytag washer. They could not repair the dishwasher because it cannot be removed without major damage to the kitchen counters.

Repairman showed up as scheduled, did a test, and told me the problem was a bad circuit breaker, not the dryer. I later installed a new circuit breaker I bought at Lowe's, and the dryer has worked fine since then. So the repairman was correct. However, I found him rather brusque, and it was difficult to have a discussion with him so I could accurately understand the no-power situation - his ''bedside manner'' could certainly use some improvement, even though his technical skills may be fine.

We are not rich. For someone to come out and not be able to repair the oven and still charge $138. This is unacceptable to me. I was prepared to pay for the service call which was $78.00 without a problem. The additional $60 was too much for no resolution. The discussion should have been free.
Description of Work: Jerry Sewell came out and took the doors off of the oven, examined it, told me he could not fix it because he did not have the parts. We discussed other options like buying a new oven. Charge: $138.00.

They showed up on time as scheduled. He did a nice job, completed the repairs, and charged a fair price. While at our home, we asked him about some small problems with our stove and dishwasher. He volunteered ways we could make those repairs ourselves and then told us exactly how to do them. This was important, especially with the stove because a previous repairman told us we needed to replace the unit.

I was very happy with the service I received and especially appreciated the extra time the repair person took to explain the various features of my kitchen appliances.
Description of Work: My freezer drawer wasn't closing properly, and my dishwasher had soap scum in it and smelled funny. The repairman arrived about 45 minutes after the scheduled repair time, but once he arrived he was able to find the problems quickly. He was very knowledgeable about my appliance brands (Subzero, Bosch) and not only fixed the problems, but gave me additional information about cleaning and maintenance, which was very helpful to me because I moved into this house recently and have no previous experience with those brands. Several parts needed to be replaced, which he said he'd order for me, then come out to replace when the parts came in. I was charged $98 for the labor which he said would be applied toward the cost to install the new parts, and that I would not be charged another trip charge for him to come back and do that.

Showed up at the beginning of the 3-hour time window given. Was persistent to fix the problem, but had to borrow some tools from me to complete the job. Shouldn't he already have these things in his truck? Ice maker door fell off after he left, but it was easy to put back on correctly. The main issue, though, is that the icemaker now works fine.
