We had a phenomenal experience with Sequoia Design. Our screened-in porch is our favorite place on earth. It was truly an addition to our living space. Sam had excellent ideas -- suggesting things we never would have thought of. No corner was EVER cut: little design touches (such as trim, cut-outs around our siding, the addition of a stone landing, "tunneling" of wiring so that it does not show below the outlets) that we did not request were done just because they were the "right" and "best" thing to do. We have recommended Sequoia Design to several friends and are thrilled that, without exception, everyone we know has loved the work Sequoia has done. (Truly, I think I know 9 other families who have used Sequoia and I have not heard one bad comment. There is NO other contractor for whom I can say that!). One other thing -- Sequoia's team was very professional, tidy, and respectful of our living space during construction. They were a pleasure to have around. Five years later and I love and appreciate our porch as much as I did on day one. Can't recommend them highly enough.

We had some issues...but they were taken care of eventually.

I did not use them. They were great. However, they were a little slow on responsiveness. They were very nice. The business contact from the company was very nice. I do not remember how much they quoted. However, their quote was too high; it was too high-priced. I would not consider them in the future.

He was very nice. So far the patch is holding. He extended further assistance if need be in the future.

Overall it was a great experience and even the middle portion was great. they were timely, responsive, clean, neat, professional, and courteous.

I called for an appointment to get an estimate, they showed up when they said they would. When I said I wanted to use them, they wasted no time. I had a 22 X 16 foot deck installed and they had the thing up in one day. All inspections passed the first time. This is a magnificent looking deck and the neighbors are all impressed. Even if you don't use them, you should get an estimate. I doubt that anyone will beat their price much less their workmanship. With this company you'll see that American workmanship is alive and doing very well.

We did contact them but did not use their service. There was nothing negative about them but we shopped and decided to go with someone else. They were professional but the initial people I contacted were pricey for the scope of work that we requested. They contacted me right away so they were responsive. I would probably consider contacting them again keeping in mind that I thought they were a little pricey.

I decided to surprise my with with the deck she has wanted for decades. I had three companies come to look at the job and offer proposals. Sam from Sequoia cane and had great ideas about how we could do this. He had great pictures of prior work and good ratings on Angie's List. Pricewise, his bid seemed "normal", not cheap but not expensive. But his personality, sincerity, competnece,and design led me to accept his proposal. Sam went to a supplier and personally picked out pieces of bluestone that were beautiful. Two subcontractors came in to lay the stone. They did a nice job, but after a rain, it became apparent that there was a drainage problem inn one area where water pooled rather than running off into the deck openings. Later, they came back and relaid several stones to fix the problem. The bottom line was that the problem was fixed quickly and the final job was great. Once the stone was laid, work began on the fence and deck. In the original yard, there was a strip of about two feet of weeds runing beside the concrete slab. Sam suggested that that area be raised about a foot, so that it could become a distinct space. That area now holds a rack of firewook and has a large circular area where a tree was kept for shade. The deck itself has a small two step area at the gate for easy entrance since the deck is level, but the ground below had sloped. The description may be vague and unclear, but the point is that a challenging job was handled beautifully. Based on my experience, I highly recommend Sequoia and a company for doing outdoor remodeling and decking. I suspect that everything they do is done well, based on my interactions with several of their staff. What I know is that I am very happy with the work that they did, and feel that my money was well-spent.

Good experience overall, until problems arose with the jobs, then he threatened to walk off the job, didn't oversee the job, and his staff that worked on the yard could not speak English. Still has not come back to fix the problems and it's been more than a month of requests.

We highly recommend Sequoia Designs. They built a screened in porch and deck for us and they exceeded our expectations. Their attention to detail is what really stood out to us. For instance, use of higher quality materials, screwing down floor boards, trim work, rounding off and sanding hand rails, etc. Also, Sam gives great guidance on the design side. Again, we were very very pleased, I think you'd be hard pressed to find higher quality work. The crew was great too -- good guys to have around.

Sam sent one of his junior guys to meet with me. He was nice. Took all of the measurements but did not have a lot as far as aswers or recomendations I was looking for. I got a price for part of the job before too long and their granite guy was supposed to contact me on the granite price as well as someone who would refinish the cabinets. I asked by email where there granite quote was and got no reply. I called Sam back a number of days later and he got it to me that day. The cabinet guy never contacted me. I told Sam we were leaning towards using them, but that I needed him to come out to go over the final details. We set a time for 8/10 at 8am. I get a text at 7:45 that something had come up and he would have to reschedule. I told him to let me know when. I have not heard back yet.

Overall the experience was great. Sam and his crew worked hard and really built us a beautiful deck that we look forward to using for many years to come. They arrived on time on the first day of work and immediately got to the business at hand. They were very diligent in their efforts and extremely methodical in their technique. They took very few breaks and there was at least one crew member always working, even if the others had to leave to pick up materials. They were slowed down a bit by some rain on Day 2 but really made up for it as soon as the sun came out and continued to work, almost until sundown each night. Not only did Sam provide a crew but he was also out there himself, digging holes and shoveling dirt. Sam was personable, helpful, and knowlegable about the services he was selling and the products he was using. Tt really made my husband and I feel as though he had a personal interest in our project. Without a doubt we would reccomend Sequoia Design, Inc. to anyone who is building a deck.

The owner is Sam McGraft. He does a lot of outdoor work. He is pretty responsive and did what he said he was going to do. He came when he said he would be there. He gave us a quote for a bathroom remodel. We are going to use him for the bathroom as soon as the checking account recovers from the floors. He seems to cover a wide variety of services. The floors look really good. There were a couple of little things and he had his guys back out within 48 hours to take care of them. We had gotten two quotes and he was in line with the other guy.

During the proposal stage owner Sam McGrath provided excellent suggestion that were incorporated in the final plans. Work started on schedule and finished within a week of the original plan. Delay were due to our delay in selecting the granite to be installed. Modification by us were readily accepted and did not delay the work. All workers were professional, polite and cleaned up daily so that we could use the kitchen nightly.

We found them to be very reliable, punctual and professional. We absolutely love our new screen porch! Their design was exactly what we were looking for and we couldn't be happier with the results! We've had so much bad experience in the past dealing with contractors that it's refreshing to deal with someone like Sam who knows what he's doing and delivers.

Overall install good. A few time delays due to weather and special order on project. Otherwise project was on schedule.

Things went very smoothly. They were on time, did good work and cleaned up when finished. All at a very good price, too. I highly recommend them, and plan to have Sequoia finish out my bonus space over the garage.
