Came on time, very polite. Covered floor so they would not mess up my carpet. Pleasant, hard workers and he even painted my porch rail.
Description of Work: Tile floor in bathroom, hung medicine cabinet, moved sink, installed new toilet. Put slate down on front porch and then took an old t.v. off for us. We really loved him and his crew.

Description of Work: I was interested in replacing the tile in my laundry room. I called Rocca Tile based on the excellent reviews. I will say that the gentleman who can to give the estimate was EXTREMELY polite and professional. He was very helpful in giving suggestions and offering names of products and stores. However, there is just one problem. The cost of the estimate was too high. He quoted almost $1200 to replace the tile in a 40 sq foot room (not including the cost of the tile). After searching more, I was able to get the work done for $400 and am very happy with the quality of the work!! Remember to shop around!!!

Fil and his crew did an excellent job. He was most responsive to my emails and telephone messages. He and his crew were punctual and professional. He was patient while I worked to resolve some issues with my condo association. He kept his word on all occasions. He had some very helpful suggestions concerning the positioning of the grab-bars by the bathtub. He and his crew got right to work and wasted no time with idle chit-chat or horsing around. They were unfailingly friendly and courteous. We are very pleased with the end result and have no hesitation in using Rocca Tile again, if necessary, or in recommending the company to others.
Description of Work: Fil retiled my bathroom and added a pair of grab-bars to the bathtub area.

Rocca tile - Fil and his crew are a pleasure and easy to work with. They were always professional and polite. He worked around my schedule. Fil provided a thorough estimate of the job upfront.. He also made changes/additions after I reviewed the estimate. Fil always gave us a heads up if he encountered something unexpected. He actually found and corrected some poor construction that was causing a leak in the pipes! We always dealt with the same individuals and it began to feel like family was coming over to help. I've never said that about a service provider before! Fil and his crew had some great suggestions about lighting, finishing, etc. that we hadn't thought of. Besides being truly conscientious and hard workers, they truly added value to the job. We will definitely call on them again.
Description of Work: Rocca Tile completed gutted a guest bathroom and rebuilt it from the ground up. They even removed the old cast iron tub! We had them create a whole new shower space. They also repositioned the floor vent and the toilet, put new lighting in and installed a new vanity. Rocca Tile also tiled the shower, floor and walls.

Prices were fine and everything worked out well. They handled stuffs sufficiently and they cared about our concerns. They were very good and reliable. They were very professional. I called Fil on a Friday night, and he was out on Saturday to give me an estimate for my mom's bathtub. Then he scheduled to come back Tuesday to start the job. Unfortunately I had a family death and I had to reschedule. Fil was sympathetic and understanding. I ended up taking much more time to take care of family business and grief, so I wasn't able to contact Fil back until two months later. Actually my fiance had to contact Fil in May and resume the project. Fil was pleasant and punctual. He finished tearing down the old tiles and put the new ones on all in one day. The work was beautiful and I can't complaint. Thank you Fil!

We had remodeled out master bathroom almost 6 years ago using a tile man recommended from the contractor we had working on other projects in our home. Over the 6 years since the remodel the grout and caulking around the Travertine tile on the bottom section of the wall to floor area has continued to bubble up with areas becoming totally devoid of grout and caulking. I had contacted the original installer just after the initial install 6 years ago when the first of the bubbling began. He came out and for additional cost "repaired" the area. Less than 5 days after this "repair" the bubbling began again. Needless to say, I did not call him again. So I have been putting off the inevitable until this past Saturday. I decided to remove the grout and caulking around the bottom of the shower with the intention of replacing it with new grouting myself. As I removed the material, it became painfully obvious that everything I was taking out - the grout as well as the caulking - was soaking wet. None of it had ever cured from the original installation 6 yrs ago. I knew I was in trouble and it was evident I needed a professional to fix this mess. So I checked Angie's list and selected Rocca Tile, Inc to help me. I called them that Saturday and within 10 minutes of my initial call, Fil contacted me. As I started to explain my problem he knew immediately what was going to have to be done. We scheduled for him to come see the shower and give me an estimate on Monday. He explained that he would start with the floor area only, but that depending on what was uncovered he may have to go further up the wall to replace the liner and some wall tiles as well. As he tapped on the tile floor you could here hollow areas. He told me what materials would be needed and where to purchase them. I did so on Monday afternoon and on Tuesday morning Fil and his assistant, Javier, arrived to begin the demo of my shower floor. What he uncovered was a total shock to me. The original installer had thrown trash/debris - tile spacers into the bedding material to make up for insufficient bedding materials which left air pockets all over the floor. The mud used to seat the tiles wasn't laid properly so there were valleys and areas totally devoid of materials. Some tiles were just laying on top of a ridge of material with air under 90% of the tile. There was so much water accumulated under the tiles that it squirted up as they were taking the tiles up. The bedding material was saturated and the drain holes were clogged. Once the bedding was totaly removed and the liner exposed you could additionally see where the original installer had patched a hole in the liner in the corner of the pan. Fil was concerned about leakage through the hole in the membrane liner and possible water damage to the plywood flooring under the shower. So he climbed into the storage area under the shower to inspect the floor for water damage. Luckily there was no water damage found. And since it had been 6 years since the installation, he felt certain that the patched hole would not be a problem in the future. So he did not have to take out the wall tiles and replace the membrane - which would have been an additional $500 to $700 job. He placed a new bed into the membrane and graded it so that the water would run to the drain area instead of lying flat on the tiles like it did with the original installation. When he placed the new tiles down, he installed them so they created a seal around the bottom of the shower (slid them under the wall tile edges) - unlike the original tiles that were placed away from the wall with only caulk and grout in the corners and seams which allowed the water to seep into the pan and soak the wallboard behind the wall tiles. He also used Epoxy grout to completely eliminate any chance of water leaking again. Fil's business sense was so far above expectation that I don't know where to begin to praise him. He completely covered the walkway from the front door, up the stairs, down the hall, through the bedroom and through the bathroom to the shower with drop clothes. He mixed all materials and cut the tiles outside the house so there was not one ounce of dust created in my home. He and Javier were both above reproach. His final bill was exactly what his initial quote was. I will most certainly call on Fill and Rocca Tile, Inc again when I need tile work done. I highly recommend Rocca Tile, Inc for any tile project you may have. You will not regret using them for your projects.
Description of Work: Fil and Javier from Rocca Tile, Inc removed tiles, grout, caulking and bedding from shower floor, checked for water damage to walls and plywood flooring under shower, placed new bedding material over existing membrane liner, laid new Travertine tiles on floor and grouted tiles with Epoxy grout. He also sealed the drain area of a second shower with Epoxy Grout.

Fabulous work. The quality of the installation was top notch and even after a year, the work looks brand new. There were a few difficulties in finishing the work due to mostly to delays in receiving additional materials (my fault, not the contractor), but the finished job more than makes up for it. I would call Roca Tile first for any flooring, tile, or stone work that I would do in the future.

My wife and I discovered Rocca Tile through Angie's List during a major kitchen remodel project gone bad. We had fallen into a really bad contract situation with another kitchen remodel company. We were trying to match an existing ceramic tile in our home and I called Rocca Tile thinking they were a company who sold tile. I left a message on Thanksgiving day and of course did not expect to hear from anyone until the following day. The number I called turned out to be a cell phone and my call was returned within one hour. Within one hour on a major holiday! Anyway, when I explained my situation, Fil gave me some advice for the best place to go for a tile match. He also told me he lived close to this showroom and would meet me there the following day and help if I was interested. After speaking with my wife, we decided to take Fil up on his offer for help. He met us at the tile showroom the following day just to offer advice and help with the tile. We were so impressed with Fil that we decided to let him bid on our floor installation. The Rocca Tile bid was more than $1000 less than our other bids. We gave them the floor job and felt incredible regret that we had not found Rocca sooner. If so, I feel certain we would have given them the entire kitchen remodel job. As it was, we were locked in with another company we had lost all faith and trust in. Rocca Tile always showed up on time and did a great job laying our beautiful new tile floor. They even worked on New Years Eve so they could avoid a delay with our other ongoing work with our kitchen remodel. The floor Rocca Tile put in is actually the highlight of our kitchen remodel. These guys are FAR superior to the other company we're stuck working with. Perhaps the best thing about Rocca Tile is their very friendly demeanor and willingness to help/give advice with anything you wish to ask them about. Fil told me to call him anytime. And he meant it. I have called him multiple times to simply ask advice on other issues that did not even concern the work he was doing/did for me. He's always happy to help and when I thank him he always says "No Problem". While my wife and I do regret we did not discover Rocca Tile soon enough to give them our entire kitchen remodel project, we are very glad we did discover them. We feel we have finally discovered a contractor we can trust with anything that comes along. I'm pretty sure these guys can do anything we could ever want to do. One last thing I especially liked and respected about Fil is the fact he is retired military. He was in the ARMY and reached the rank of First Sergeant. I myself was in the ARMY and know reaching that rank is no easy task. It takes a tremendous amount of discipline and leadership skills. My wife and I look forward to calling Rocca Tile in the future. And we will call them. Again and again.

I would absolutely recommend them. They were polite and really easy to work with, especially when it came to mid-project changes; they were really great with that kind of stuff. They were fabulous when it came to picking up things. For example, I had ordered the tile and, and they went and picked it up, so the service level was really high. I give them an A+.
Description of Work: Rocca Tile Inc completely remodeled a master bath and guest bath. In both bathrooms, they did full demolition and removal of everything. They built stand-up shower stalls in both bathrooms. In the master bath, they installed a two person jacuzzi-whirlpool tub. They installed counters, sinks, medicine cabinets, and all the bathroom hardware. They did tile flooring in both bathrooms, as well as the showers were all tile and the guest bathroom was tiled half-way up the wall. They used subcontractors for the lighting and plumbing, which was included in the price.

Mostly it was a reasonable experience. The quality of work done is excellent. The entire job took 4 days, and 4 different workers were involved at various times during those 4 days. The only glitch occurred on Day 2, when there was only 1 worker here all morning. He spoke very little English, and he did not seem to fully understand the entire concept of what was being done. We called Fil (the owner), who sent an additional helper and then came himself. As long as we could adequately communicate with at least one of the workers, everything went fine. Fil himself was involved with the grouting and finishing things up on the last day, and all went exceedingly well when he was present. Fil was very good about answering all our questions and working with us so that any concerns we had were handled to our satisfaction.
Description of Work: Rocca Tile tore out our old shower tile and bench seat and then installed a new bench seat, marble tile on the shower walls and seat, a wall niche, 2 grab bars, and a new pebble shower floor. They also installed matching marble tile as a backsplash around the garden tub in the same bathroom. They recommended another company that came and measured for a new shower door, which is still being built, but the work by Rocca Tile is complete. The price we paid to Rocca Tile did not include the tile, which we had to buy separately.

The project went very well. There were a few plumbing bumps in the road the prolonged the project (the hot water heater went out & 3 toilet connections had to be replaced), but this was due to a pressure release valve that was letting in way too much water pressure. Fil & his crew were helpful & professional.
Description of Work: Beautiful tiling job in the Master Bath (replacement of floor, shower enclosure & tub surround) + kitchen backspash + slate tile on front steps + tiling of powder room! Our master bath was in great need of a face lift. Fil & his crew did a beautiful job installing travertine in a basket weave pattern with toasty radiant heat under the tile. They also tiled the shower & the surround of the garden tub as well as a gorgeous vanity backsplash. (See pictures). They did a gorgeous job & I feel like we have our own personal spa now. Friends & neighbors rave at how nicely the project turned out! The guys also did a great job on installing 4" tiles on the diagonal as a kitchen backsplash. It adds so much to the look of the room! The travertine installed in a brick pattern in the powder room really updated the look there as well. The guys also put slate tiles & a dark grout on the front steps & it looks terrific! Fil & his guys know their trade, work very hard, are honest & have great personalities. I couldn't be happier with their work.

I was very happy with how smoothly the project went. Fil came out to give me an estimate, and over the next view weeks, he patiently answered a lot of questions that we had about his proposal. After talking with other contractors, we decided that Fil was competitively priced and more professional than any of the others, so we went with him. He was able to start the work within a few days. When he tore out the old shower, we found more water damage than he had anticipated, but the repairs only added a few hundred dollars to the cost of the project. Fil was very thorough and made it a point to show us what he was doing and why. I am in a wheelchair, and I was very impressed with Fil's understanding of my special needs. For example , where there had been a small raised threshold at the entrance to the original shower, Fil made it flush with the floor outside the shower, which makes my access to the shower much easier. He used Hardibacker under the tile everywhere except the shower floor and the walls behind the tub, and he applied a waterproofing solution to the new subfloor of the shower prior to installing the mud bed. Any minor problems that I saw during the construction were fixed quickly and professionally. He even took the time to fix minor problems in the original construction prior to tiling over them, although they were not related to any problems with his work. The few imperfections I've seen in the finished work appear to be blemishes in the tile itself or the original construction of the house, rather than any problems with Fil's work. The finished bathroom looks great, and I don't anticipate any further water leaks like those we saw from the original construction. There may be contractors who would have done this job more cheaply, but I don't believe they would have done the quality work that Fil did. If I ever decide to have more tile work done on my house, I will definitely be calling Fil. The cost listed in this review included the purchase of new towel racks and plumbing fixtures, as well as the purchase of close to 600 sq ft of tile and a couple of gallons of paint.
Description of Work: Fil tore out my existing large shower, replaced five rotted floor joists and rotted subfloor, rebuilt the shower, installed two niche shelves, took up existing flooring in the bathroom, tiling the entire bathroom floor, tub surround, and the walls behind the tub. He replaced two shower heads and the tub faucet, installed a shower curtain rod, two towel racks, and a grab bar, as well as painting the bathroom walls. He also installed shoe mould on the baseboards.

Overall, the work turned out well. The owner and worker performed the job on the day it was promised and, even though they ran late, they called to alert me. The work was done efficiently and professionally. After they were through and had left, we noticed that the left side of the fireplace was not straight and, thus, did not look right. After I was able to contact the contractor, he sent his worker to fix the problem. We are pleased with the results.

The project thusfar is a success. While he was here we inquired about other desired renovation and repairs. Fil inspected the problem which was caused by the recent storm. He suggested a solution and a prevention. We have thusfar followed his instructions and received a bidding price for the repairs.
Description of Work: We had a leak in the family room ceiling. We thought this was somewhat of a continuation of the previous service. So we called Fil and he was quite prompt in his reply and inspection. The water we found was secondary to a pipe leak and it was necessary to cut to ceiling, repair the pipe then replace the ceiling with spackling and a pattern. The contractor was complete in his performance the price was clearly stated prior to beginning the project.

Rocca demolished the old tub/shower, built a glass block wall, installed subway tiles on the walls, and built a small bench. Though they told me it might take as many as six days, they worked long hours (until 7:15 on two nights) to get it finished in four. Their estimates are very thorough and I liked their attitude that exactly what I wanted would be no problem at all. They delivered the new materials, hauled out and disposed of the old, scheduled the plumber, and cleaned up nicely. I supplied the plumbing fixtures, and they incorporated a tile mosaic we bought while traveling.

Fil, the project manager, is very responsive and always available by cell phone. He came to our house the day after we called to provide an estimate and the work was completed the next week. The entire job was completed within 4 days! We are incredibly pleased with the quality of the work. Fil understood exactly what we wanted-1920's style to fit with our craftsman house (subway tile, hexagon floor tile) and the finished bathroom looks perfect.
Description of Work: Nearly complete bathroom remodel including demo of the floor, walls and tub surround with installation of drywall. Entire bathroom was re-tiled floor, tub surround and walls. Installation of new sink, medicine cabinet, faucets in tub and sink, hardware (toilet paper holder, towel holder, etc.) and new plumbing to sink and toilet. Price included labor only.
