Outdoor Makeover & Living Spaces

Navid had called to reschedule our appointment twice so I wrote a negative review. Subsequent to writing that review, Navid called on two or three occasions to follow up with me to see if he could make things right. I told him, no, that's fine, maybe we just shouldn't work together. He then emailed me to request a meeting to discuss my landscaping needs. Well, that kind of persistence impressed me enough to schedule a meeting. We met today, Nov. 17, for 2.5 hrs. We told him what we were thinking, he offered suggestions, gave us the options, drew us a diagram and gave us an estimate. Looking at his diagram of our yard and all the work he's proposing leads me to think that we are getting good value for our money. Navid is a great guy and is clearly interested in working hard to win our business and our trust and make us happy. Although we haven't formally agreed to do a project, I don't see any reason not to go ahead in the very near future. My wife and I are very excited by the plan he drew up and by the prospects for beautifying our front yard. Thanks Navid. We really enjoyed meeting you and hope to be working with you soon.

Very well. Navid and his team are extremely professional. They do what they say what they will do and it is done in a very timely manner.

Everything was very good. The work was great. We did have some sprinkler heads that ended up broken and they came out and fixed them at no extra cost. They are very customer oriented and are on the ball with their service. When I call they answer right away or get back to me in a reasonable amount of time.

Spent a lot more than I originally planned, but realized how large a job was required. I did get 6 month interest free financing,. Job was done in one day which was remarkable. We had some minor issues which were resolved. Getting the financing and paperwork completed was a little difficult, but it was worked out as well.

The experience went very well overall. Navid came in with a large team on fairly short notice and stayed there for long days until the job was done. They were all very courteous, responsive, knowledgeable and did high quality work, particularly on the hardscape. They were not the cheapest, but I think their prices were competitive overall. The plants were well selected and placed, though for the price, I had been expecting a somewhat higher number of plants and for the plants to be more mature. But with that said, they laid down a very good foundation in terms of the plantings, for a backyard that was otherwise barren. For a project this big and involving so many different tasks (i.e., hardscape, drainage, irrigation, grading planting, etc.) it went pretty smoothly and we were happy with the result. We would definitely consider using them again in the future and would recommend them to anyone looking for a good and reputable landscaper.

While we had a general idea of some things we wanted done, Navid was able to envision a work product beyond that which we could have imagined. In addition to being very accessible, Navid was very customer focused and was intent throughout the project of ensuring that our expectations were met. We were amazed at his team's ability to execute so quickly from "design" to final product. Expectations were more than exceeded, and we would certainly use Navid and Outdoor Makeover on future projects.

Navid and the staff I worked with at Outdoor Makeover went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied with the finished product. Navid met my expectations and then some. I've done enough projects to know that nothing ever goes exactly as planned and this project was no exception. However, the issues that arose were minor and Navid was extremely responsive in addressing those issues to my satisfaction. The interactions I had with the project manager, the foreman, and the crew were professional and courteous. All in all, working with Outdoor Makeover was a very positive experience and I would not hesitate to recommend this company to my friends and family.

We had low expectations given the low price of the "Big Deal". However, we were surprised to only receive an estimate via email (one week later than promised) on 6/16. The 6/16 email included no graphic representation or what we would consider a plan. The email proposal gave us no real idea about how the plants would be arranged or what the plants looked like. We called the rep to ask about a graphical plan. Via email on 6/27 we received one page of what looked like a PowerPoint prepared plan-view attachment. The plan addressed the area along the front of the house and would require removing all (60 feet+) of the holly and boxwoods all about 45 years old. This was a surprise to us as we discussed minor changes, improvements and complementing the foundational plantings (potentially replacing the hollies). We had been clear with Outdoor Makeover in our love of boxwoods (one of the reasons we had recently purchased the house) The plan also included a rock garden. We asked to keep plantings in line with the style of our very traditional house (modeled on a 1700's Maryland plantation home). The estimate for under-brushing our back yard was about 3x's what we finally paid a tree company to accomplish.

Navid and Outdoor Makeover did a wonderful job in our yard. One of the best things was how fast they worked, transforming what we believed was a hopelessly unattractive space into a wonderful yard in one day -- an amazing "makeover"! Navid was always friendly and warm. He is an artist with a real gift for design. He is also deeply committed to the quality of his work and satisfaction of his customers. And his team is brillian too! My husband and I highly recommend Outdoor Makeover.

Navid consulted mutliple times with us to determine just what we wanted to do, and he made very helpful suggestions to improve upon our concept of what we wanted. This was a major undertaking with a large amount of heavy stone steps and flagstone and removal of many very old (and many large) deteriorated crossties. The final product far exceeded our expectations, and Navid even made numerous improvements over what we had in mind (with our express approval). His workers are very thorough, meticulous and careful. Navid made multiple trips to supervise the effort and even make real-time improvements. He is very picky and rejected several heavy stone pieces due to the color not matching well enough for his standards. Because he has such a good stone supplier and such a good working relationship with them, they made a rush special shipment to replace several with better matching pieces with no delay in the overall project. This was a top-notch piece of workmanship and it looks superb! The cleanup was thorough and he even added pinestraw adjacent to the work for a very finished look. We are delighted we chose Outdoor Makeover for this landscape project.

We walked though the beds, looked at all the significant plants, discussed where they needed to be moved and what needed to be done with rockwork.

I highly recommend Outdoor Makeover. Navid did a very good job of communicating at each step in the process. His workers showed up as agreed and completed the job within the agreed upon 4 days. He had several challenges with the project and handled them quickly and efficiently.

This was our third attempt with differenct contractors to resolve an issue with an outdoor water feature (waterfall) with additional stone work to accompany existing landscaping. Navid had excellent ideas for the new features that really accent what was in place. The waterfall was a nightmare for him as he attempted to find a leak that probably dated back to the first installation. After repeated efforts and much frustration the problem was identified and resolved to everyones satisfaction. I can say with a degree of confidence that the previous contractors would have thrown in the towel and walked away. Excellent job.

They were very flexible, for the most part. I think I probably paid a little more; but by doing that I got a company that was willing to work with me and not nickel and dime me; they just took care of things as they came up. It is a pretty big job and the one thing they could have done better is that they did not really have a plan going into it. Because of that we did have a couple of bumps along the road, but they were very reasonable when it came to dealing with those bumps because they were not their fault. The only thing they could have done better was the pre-planning. Overall I was very happy with the service.

Navid seemed consumed with our project from the start, perhaps more zealous than we were because we had grown apathetic to the yard. He spent a lot of time with us suggesting and refining the concept. He tried to figure how we'd use the yard and what kind of yard we'd like the most. We don't particularly like the outdoors and have few guests, so backyard entertainment was not our goal. But we thought we might like some solace out there and some room to play with our dogs. More of a zen place than a social place, if you will; a place to read books and have coffee while the dogs romped. And this is exactly what we got. First with the hill removal we were concerned that our ancient tree not get damaged. Navid made this clear to the bobcat driver and once he hit the roots, he stopped. Since this prevented removal of the entire hill, we had to change plans on the fly. (A number of obstacles arose during the project and Navid always made sure to do it right and get our opinions.) Navid suggested keeping part of the hill as a raised semicircle around the tree trunk. This not only helped the tree (I hope), but it adds a nice feature to the yard - there are now stone steps leading up to this kind of parapet in the yard. The dogs like it and the humans do too. Navid carefully positioned some boulders up there as "focal points" and they do look nice. He also reused some of our other boulders to build a nice-looking border for our garden. The bobcat driver was a miracle worker. He flattened the backyard, yet kept it gradually sloped for drainage and for continuity between the adjacent yards. He also managed not to damage anything in the tight quarters of our small backyard. The manual laborers Outdoor Makeoever employed were a force of nature. I counted 9 of them out there one morning, all working by hand - placing the stones in the retaining wall, removing the fence, building the new fence and its gate, laying the sod, planting the plants. Once the project was almost over, we saw several workers cutting little pieces of wood to fill in the irregular-shaped gaps in the fence due to the slope of the yard and the new retaining wall. These guys worked everyday from about 9 to dusk or later. I was surprised to see Navid's mother there one day and father the next, helping to supervise and even doing some of the work. Navid's father is a senior and I saw him out there one evening balanced on a thin part of the retaining wall four or five feet above the ground installing the lighting. That the company is a family venture lent us some confidence that Outdoor Makeover was not just in it for the money, but was committed to producing quality work. The project was a tall order and I thought it would take at least three weeks, but it was done in 9 calendar days. All along the way Navid worked with us, often at unusual hours to accommodate our work schedules, to make sure things were going as we liked and expected. When the crew was done, they cleaned up and we couldn't tell they had been here. I probably should point out that we had given no thought to what we wanted in place of the hill, just that we wanted it removed. Navid coached us into a much more finished solution that we are now enjoying daily.

The entire project took less than 2 days, which was truly amazing. we have found Navid to be extremely prompt in his time commitments. The crew worked diligently to ensure that the plan as we had envisioned it came to life. Navid was present at the beginning of the first day and then was back on site 2-3 more times each day during the work. We can not say enough about the quality of their work. We will be using Navid and Outdoor Makeover within the next 12 months to complete our entire plan. My new slogan for this incredible company is Outdoor Makeover-your hard and landscape Angel!

Exceptional from start to finish -excellent and timely call back and scheduling -was there when they said they would be every time -crew was very professional and all in company t-shirts -always had a superviser on sight -did a plan drawing for me on first visit based on some direction and sun conditions on lawn -Navid knows the plants and understands what will grow were. -did extra work like moving existing plants to better locations and removing dead ones for no cost -added in a large plant that was not part of the plan, for free, because he "thought it would look great"! -finished the job early and when I came home I couldn't even tell they had been there. Cleaned everything up -Navid returned promptly the day after the job was finished to walk the yard and make sure I was 100% happy If you don't use outdoor makeover you are crazy

Wonderful experience from beginning to end. Everyone was courteous and Navid who provided the design and consultation was very knowledgeable. We love the sketch and ideas he provided based on existing plants and the recommendation for new ones. He took in my concerns such as not using prickly plants near kids play areas and came up with great ideas. I love that we have an exact sketch of his suggestions and will use this in the future. His quote to provide all work replacing and planting including plants and mulch seemed very reasonable.

The design was consistent with our objectives and was tailored to fit our budget. The work was performed as expected and in a professional way. We've been happy with it to the point that we've used them again to have additonal work done.

We had a hilly, jungle in our backyard. The previous owner must have done NOTHING to this back yard as it was just unusable, wasted land and we wanted to create some usable space in the backyard. Navid came out to give us an estimate for the first time, and he actually gave us a very creative idea to give our backyard a makeover. We had two other estimates after we met him and he was in the middle. We ended up asking them to do more than what we initially planned so the total cost at the end came higher but I think that was still fair. And we did like his creative suggestion which others didn't think they can do so that was definitely a plus. Their workers were always on time and professional, always cleaned after the mess.They worked on some super hot days but no tardiness or laziness, made a big improvement everyday (hope the ice cold water/gatorade helped!!) From the beginning to the end it was painless. Navid was very friendly and easy to talk to. He did give us lots of suggestions on what would be good to do for the lawn, the rest of the yard, etc. Very helpful. Now we have a clean, usable backyard with new lawn!!Thank you guys!!

It went very well. They were able to start right away and completed the work within the day. They were very accommodating and willing to please. My husband was happy with the job too and he is hard to please. We used natural colored rocks that not only look very good but they accomplished the reason for the project. They went beyond what they promised by adding a couple of drainage areas we did not know we needed.
